Is Dreamweaver ready as a corporate tool?

I have to decide very soon what application our international
offices will use in over 15 countries and 45 locations. The total
number of purchases will be nearly 75+. But I don't feel confidient
about recommending and approving Dreamweaver. I am a former GoLive
user and I feel that DW lacks the same great ease of use and
friendly interfaces that our users will require as novice and
experts.
I would approve GoLive without hesitation, but now my only
option is Microsoft. What are your thoughts (and you should hae
some GL experience) ?

Using Flash 8 with Dreamweaver 8

Hi guys and gals, I am in a unfomfortable situation now. I
have awsome ideas of how I would like to implement my creative
talents in building awsome websites but I cannot seem to transfer
over what ever graphics, text, buttons to Dreamweaver. I'm creating
.swf files but when I try to open up any item created from Flash it
gets all weird. I cannot seem to save those graphics and such to
html so I keep getting like a grey box with the flash logo.
Now, moving items from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is fine but
moving items from Flash to Dreamweaver is a pain in the arse.
Also, I TOTALLY understand that Dreamweaver is a awsome
formating tool but I don't know about you guys but I feel that I
feel so restrained by using these templates. I understand that
websites need to have structure but what if you want to make
different structures for certain pages on your sight?
Yes using CSS is very customizable but MUST you have
templates to put any type of graphic on a Dreamweaver design view?
All I want to achieve is making simple graphics with Flash,
Edit those graphics with Fireworks and drop them into Dreamweaver.

Not a veteran (well, not in experience lol!) - what you're
doing wrong is
going about using Dreamweaver like you would Word or as if
it's WYSIWYG -
it's not.

Once I add my .swf to Dreamweaver, the buttons are not clickable, how can I fix this?

Hello there,
I'd just like to start out by saying that this is the first time I have posted on these forums, so if I have done anything wrong, I apologize!
Anyway, about my question, just like the title says, once I import the .swf into Dreamweaver the buttons are not clickable, however when tested outside of Dreamweaver, they work correctly.
Basically I have an animated banner with some audio and two buttons, the buttons mute and unmute the music.
The file consists of two layers, one of which has 2 keyframes, the first keyframe has the Audio with the settings; "Effect: None. Sync: Start, Loop" and a button leading to the next frame.
The next keyframe (still on layer one) has much of the same but the Audio settings are different; "Effect: None. Sync: Stop, repeat x 1" and this will stop the music.
Now on the other layer (Rocket) I have a movie clip of a space-themed background and a rocket flying across it, the movie clip is made up of a motion tween and another movie clip which is the rocket.
I am using Flash CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 on a Windows 7 computer. I am also using Actionscript 2.0
I apologize for the amount of information and I'm not very briliant at explaining things, so here are some images of the flash file, hopefully they'll help;

If you did not create this swf yourself then you won't be able to do what I am suggesting. If you did, then open the fla in Flash and go into the Publish Settings and select the option to publish an html file as an output. That will create an html page that embeds the Flash file. Test that file in your browser and see if it plays properly. IF so, then copy that code in place of whatever Dreamweaver did to embed the Flash.
Dreamweaver is not a reliable tool for embedding Flash content... why it does not do it the same way Flash does it is anyone's guess.

If you want a PHP/MySQL-driven gallery, buy David Powers' book, 'PHP Solutions' and follow the tutorials. It is an excellent walkthrough on PHP and MySQL, and the best part is, it shows how to build an online photo gallery.
As I was told a long time ago, it's best to learn to hand code. As the other post said, there are many ways to do this, many of the slickest ones are run with jQuery. Still, if you want a dynamic gallery, you need to learn PHP and MySQL.David's book is such a valuable resource and he is an excellent teacher. I was able to follow the book and build my own gallery. I can not recommend this book enough

When I open my indeex.php file and then choose discover it serches for a while but then nothing happens.

Also you clusterware installation installs to an ORACLE_HOME.
Oracle does only make a differentiation, if it has to be clear, that you got a clusterware home and a database home.
Normally if a patch is referring to $ORACLE_HOME (and the patch can be used for clusterware & database), it just means the installation directory of the oracle software installed.

Relationship Between Studio Visual and Dreamweaver

I have a question regarding Dreamweaver and Studio Visual. I have just started work for a company that have created 4 websites using Dreamweaver and Studio Visual. I would like to do some SEO work on these sites as they are getting outdated. I have limited
experience with both these programs making my progress somewhat confusing. I have noticed that a combination of HTLM CSS ASP.NET ASPX are all contained within the web folders.I know HTML and CSS quite well. I have already purchased Dreamweaver on a monthly
subscription. I have the trial version of Studio Visual community web. I would like to understand how these programs work along side each other better so that I may get a better understanding on the possible do's or don't's or even the if the files created
within these programs can be integrated and edited using one piece of software.
Any suggestions of online tutorials or reading materials would be greatly appreciated.
The main problem I have at the moment is that I have started a new website and need to integrate the quote form that has been created in Studio Visual into the new site using Dreamweaver.

Does Dreamweaver enable us to change a link's destination from throughout an ENTIRE cluster ofPages?

I have a link to an external site located throughout an entire cluster of pages within my website. Is there a Dreamweaver CS5 command that would enable me to modify that link as it appears throughout the entire cluster of pages, simultaneously? That sure would save me considerable time if it can be done without my having to make the change manually and individually, on a page-by-page basis. Maybe something such as this command exists, perhaps?
"Change all occurrences of the following address from ___ to ____ throughout the entire site"

Dreamweaver allows for three different methods of doing this.
As suggested, one may use server-side code to call a text page that you just change in one place.
Also, as suggested, one may use Dreamweaver's Find and Replace tool to replace all instances of a particular link. If you are looking to do this in source code, you have to be very careful about how you specify what to search for and exactly what you wish the replacement code to be.
Last, I have started using templates for stuff that has reoccurring information throughout a website. Things like navigation, footers, headers and so on are very useful for automating a change in reoccurring content. Where you have a page link that changes in navigation, if you have a template that handles that in all pages, you change it once and Dreamweaver will ask you if you want to update all files based on that template. Answer "Yes," and all page changes will be made.
Pages may be linked to only one template and one should never nest templates.
So, to fully answer your question, yes. There are three methods at your disposal.

Can Reflow change display tools based on changing screen sizes?

I have a lenghty check list in a desktop-sized view, but want to change to a selection wheel type of display tool for a phone-sized screen. Is there a way to make the display tool change, yet keep the same content simply by reducing down to the smaller screen size?

One way of having different content at different screen sizes is to have both elements on your page, and change the display of each of them to either "Block" or "None" depending on whether or not you want it to be displayed for that media query region.
And no, we don't have a selection wheel element in Reflow. Your best bet there is probably to use a box to represent it in Reflow, and then replace it with the desired element using Dreamweaver, Brackets, or whatever other tool you use next in your workflow.

Dreamweaver or Flash

Can anyone point out the different between Dreamweaver and
Flash? I used Dreamweaver for a while and recently tried Flash, but
getting lots of feedback , some people takes a long time to get to
the site.
Also, some people said they can not access to the site, and

They are two different applications made for doing different
things, and not mutually exclusive of each other... aka, I can
create a site partially in flash and finish it up in Dreamweaver.
Flash is mainly for doing websites with animation and using
other media such as sound or video. Dreamweaver is a website
development tool used for creating html pages. Since the final swf
file is loaded on an html page, both tools can be used to complete
a project.
Swf files are supposed to be cross-browser compatible, so the
Flash file probably isn't the problem. Most likely your problem is
the code on the html page calling the swf file.
If it takes a long time to get to the site either your files
are too big or your servers are too slow.

Dreamweaver Forms Submit button

I can not get the submit button to work on the Forms page I built. Is it true that some special code is needed from the website server to put this all together and make it work? If so, why doesn't it tell you that somewhere in the Dreamweaver tools. It seems it shouldn't have to be that hard to make it work. If there is an easier way to make it work, please let me know. All I get when I try it is an empty email comes up when I click Submit. There is no form included in it. I need to get this working on our website. Please help. Thanks.

Dreamweaver is a professional level tool, it assumes you understand the basics of html, css, javascript and some server scripting.
It's not terribly difficult to make a form function (using a mailto: link in the form's action attribute), it's only a bit more difficult to make it function securely, without opening your email address up to massive amounts of spam and causing half of your viewers to see nothing when clicking on the submit button.
Personally, I use the Formmail script from http://www.tectite.com it's fairly secure out of the box (and offers more security with reCapcha) and has a lot of features you can choose to use, or not. It's loads safer and much more reliable than attempting to use a mailto: link.
If your server supports PHP, I'd suggest trying it out.

Dreamweaver's toolbar suddenly disappeared and I can't open files with Dreamweaver

I am using Dreamweaver CS5. I use it practically every day and have for several years.
Suddenly, when I open Dreamweaver, the toolbar items (File, Tools, Windows) don't show up and when I try to open a file using Dreamweaver from the Finder, nothing happens either. The application seems to open but nothing shows up or works.
A few days ago, I had to restore everything from Time Machine after a hardware fix at Apple. Dreamweaver worked fine for a few hours, then this happened....
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver - no difference.
Does anyone understand what the problem might be? Maybe some small setting, extension, or file?

The Tools to develop JSP

I want to develop a new JSP website.
I have select Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 as the tools to develip my website.
webserver is Apache HTTP Server
Application server is Apache Tomcat v5.
Database will be Microsoft SQL Server
I will download J2EE 1.4 and install on my notebook.
Problem:
1. My notebook running Windows XP Home edition, is it ok for me to do the development?
2. Is there any program I miss or duplicate?
3. The website function will have customer login request quotation / PO online. Any user experience it before ?
Please let me know If there and a better tools / program will help me develop the website in easy way, I have a little bit of Java knowledge.

Running on XPHome should be ok for development I think.
The Apache HTTP server is not an absolute necessity.
Tomcat itself can handle standard web requests as well as JSP ones.

You will need J2SE as well as J2EE on your computer (J2EE is an extention to the base J2SE classes)

Where is SQL color coding in Dreamweaver?

I can't seem to find the SQL color coding in Dreamweaver
CS4... how can this be omitted from such a product? Is it staring
