Is DW CS4 Mac super buggy?

Or do I need to reinstall it or something? Sometimes I can click on the css rule and click 'edit' and a window will come up. Other times it won't. Some times Live View will work sometimes not. And so on and so on.
Are there a slew of existing bugs with the Mac version? I've run all the diagnostic utilities and my computer is fine G5 10.4.11 4gb ram. Loads of drive space.
DW has been buggy since day 1. Yet the other programs in the package seem fine. Could it be that I never uninstalled DW 2004?
Would like to hear from other Mac users.

While 10.4.11 does meet the system requirements I will be honest that I've never had a problem with CS4 until I moved to a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard but those were patched by 10.6.2. With that said, I never ran CS4 in Tiger, only in Leopard and never had an issue.

Les versions étudiantes n'ont pas de mises à jour. Elles offrent de grosses réductions en contrepartie.
Avez-vous envisagé le creative cloud? Vous pourriez ainsi l'utiliser sur les deux plateformes.
Mais le prix augmentera quand vous serez pro (c'est un abonnement)

InDesign CS4 Mac starts but then freezes

Indesign CS4 Mac starts up but freezes from there. Trying to open files or create new ones results in the filename appearing at the bottom of the Window drop-down menu, but the file doesnt appear on-screen.
The same result occurs when opening files using "Open Recent File" as well as double-clicking the file in Finder or using "Open With" in FInder.
It couldnt have picked a worse time to crap out - right in the middle of an urgent contract!! Dang Cleetus!!
Any suggestions - apart from re-installing the program?

Tried renaming InDesign Saved data and InDesign Defaults and restarting InDesign - that didnt seem to fix the problem - after re-starting InDesign it seemed the program didnt write new versions of the files on re-start.
Will head back to the office & connect to my 23" display & see if ID works OK with that - that would confirm that it's a screen pointing issue?
Would re-installing ID help?

InCopy CS4 (PC) / InDesign CS4 (mac) not working

My client and I are trying to establish an InCopy CS4 (PC) / InDesign CS4 (Mac) workflow. Neither of us has ever used InCopy and we are all getting frustrated now that our first production cycle has come and gone and the client is not recouping the money they invested on this software. Our trial system was successful for awhile and then it just stopped. The client says she can't open the icma/icml files and they need the indd file. So I send a new batch of files with the indd included and still no luck.
I'm saving the assigments like I've been saving in our initial trial run. In ID I go to Incopy > Export > Add all Stories to Assignment. That creates the content folder and the .icma files. I zip everything and send it off via email attachment.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Something my client needs to do? I prefer not to have to send the indd file. Should I have to do that for them to edit in Incopy? I appreciate any advice. Thank you. Lynn

Don't zip the files, that won't work.ID/IC is meant to work on a local server w/local staff. For a remote workflow you have to use a special technique.
After you create the assignment, use the Package for InCopy command in the Assignments panel.That creates an ICAP file that you send to the client.
When the double-click the ICAP file, it unpacks (it's like a zip file) on their computer and the assignment opens in InCopy. They work on the stories, and when they're done, they use the Return for InDesign command in *their* Assignments panel menu. That creates an IDAP file that they send to you.
When you open the IDAP file, it unpacks, looks for the INDD file (be sure not to rename or move it in the meantime), and updates the stories w/the editors changes.
Those are the broad strokes. It's covered more thoroughly in the online help file of both ID and IC ... you *and* your client should read up on it. And I cover it very thoroughly (4 videos ... Chapter 15) in my online Lynda.com tutorial on the CS4 workflow:

I'm sure I'm asking the obvious, but since I'd like to
upgrade to CS4, I want to make sure before I buy.
The system requirements for Flash CS4 (Mac) mention Mac OS X
v10.4.11–10.5.4. I have OS X 10.5.5.
Does this make any difference?

probably export from pc to something decent and import that to mac...
might be best solution
ps...just built this camera and fcp on mac does good job of using QT intermediate files etc for editing...even with prores...and so on...
theres no such thing as "pc vs mac" ...its more like "what works well "...and in the long run ( I might add ) its probably dpx stuff for final...which neither one has a handle on at this point...

Tu tienes una raíz de trabajo con archivo .ai y sus imágenes en una carpeta, lo gravas en un cd para el proveedor.
Abre el cd y el .ai no encuentra las imágenes, que siguen estando en la misma carpeta que hemos gravado. Por lo tanto tienes que tener desperdigadas
dentro de la carpeta de .ai, si no se pierde el enlace. También pierdes el enlaze se mueves la carpeta con todo el contenido. Es un error de programa los
demás programas no dan este problema. Se tiene solucionar.

Adobe ne vend pas la version CS4 plus. Seulement un propriétaire inscrit d'une licence CS4 peut transférer la licence à vous.

Im RAW-Converter CS4 MAC kann man zwar, wie gewohnt, mehrere Bilder synchronisiert mit denselben Einstellungen bearbeiten, wenn man aber nur ein Bild aus der Liste bearbeitet und dessen "Benutzerdefinierte Einstellungen" auf das nächste Bild übertragen will (nächstes Bild anklicken und in der Liste neben "Grundeinstellungen" auf "Benutzerdefinierte Einstellungen" klicken), so geschieh nichts! In CS3 funktionierte das! Weiß jemand Rat und Hilfe?

Leider kenne ich mich mit der deutschen PS Version nicht aus, kann daher die

Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE Fast Blur - Premiere Pro CS4 mac

Hi, I own the master collection package of the cs4 products for Mac, and I'm having this problem when trying to open a project made on premiere pro 1,5 (win). All files, effects and tittles where imported perfectly on my Mac after opening and saving the project on win premiere cs3. The only problem is the fast blur plugin. I get this error when opening the project on premiere cs4. I need to have the fast blur plugin working because I don't want to re-create the whole transitions of this 1 hr length project.
I tried copying the Fast_Blur.plugin from after effects and pasting it on my premiere pro plug-ins folder (/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS4/Plug-ins) but with no luck, apparently premiere ignores it. Also tried to copy it to /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS4/Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.app/Contents/Plug-ins/Common but this gave me several errors and the application not launching.
What can I do to use this plugin in premiere cs4 Mac?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Placed the afx cs4 Fast_Blur.plugin on /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS4/Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.app/Contents/Frameworks/MediaCoreUI.framework/Fast_Blur.pluginand nothing... ignored as when placing it on Plug-Ins folder...
Where is this mediacore folder on win?
Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that the Mac CS4 afx "Fast_Blur.plugin" isn't comptible with the Mac CS4 Premiere.
I don't own a CS3 mac version... does anyone knows if it has the fast blur? I could try to use that file...

Capture Frame in CS4 MAC

It appears from my searches that it is a very complicated task to capture a frame in CS4 MAC. In CS4 Windows you have the bitmap option on capture media but that does not appear for MAC. It will not let me uncheck capture video without a nasty note saying it cannot be done. Any clues. This (as it was in CS3) should be pretty easy...am I just missing something?

Need help w/ CS4 Mac Dreamweaver (not responding) on start-up

Just tried deleting every Adobe piece of software on my hardrive, then, doing a total re-install for the third time in last 2 days --   and all my programs work except Dreamweaver.
It just hangs and the force quit option says (not responding). I've looked at many ideas from these support groups but nothing is working. What I'm interested in, is why just Dreamweaver is crashed, and nothing else (seems odd) why would that be? I'm using a Mac Mini with OSX 10.5.8, plenty of memory space open. This latest crash happened yesterday and I hadn't used the program for about 1 month, but it was working then. To add to my misery and my increasing lack of faith in Adobe (its products and support process) this same thing happened just 3 months ago, and I had to wipe out my harddrive and reload software for days.
I'd like to understand the reason for this instability. As I have told tech support, there is no reason I would buy future products if the products don't work, and if they are not supported -- other than some random tip on this forum that may take months to come about. There is the possibility I can pay $40 to wait on the phone all day and have someone walk me through the entire process from start to finish, which would take hours and hours so,    If someone has ideas, great   --
If the soultion is to upgrade, I'll buy GIMP.
I need someone to also not give me ideas for PC's and Windows .... is there anyone home today?

Tuff day at the salt mine re-loading a few times and getting rid of many old Adobe files. It's funny, that after using the Adobe un-install process and the Clan Tool, I had still had over 8000+ Adobe-associated embedded files and logs to remove --- and that still didn't matter, because even with my best effort to reinstall, Dreamweaver was still not responding ...   so like many frustrated thread users, I tried the idea you suggested about creating a new account.
Before doing that, I looked over some other Adobe and Apple threads on this subject and sharing seems to be potentailly related to this bug-issue. After creating a new account, I then logging out of my admin account and logged into the new account, I was finally able to see Dreamweaver fire up -- why I don't know. It wasn't that I didn't trust you or not believe you on that suggestion, it just seemed odd that of the entire CS4 suite, only Dreamweaver would need an enire new account created for it to be able to run. This is like having Microsoft Office and needed to create new accounts for Word, and new accounts for Excel .. doesn't make sense!
Furthermore, after having DW fire up in the new account, I felt these odd twitches, and thought about how fun this will be to jump back and fourth between 2 accounts to locate assets and modify content and end up using a thumbdrive to grab the data off my other account, then shuttle it around in the new place, after logging out, then back in and so on and so on -- this is like adding new rooms to my house, so I'm trying to get excited about this new way of using Dreamweaver. I'm currently not ready to start a project and wondering if I should go back to where I was three months ago and wipe everything out again, then maybe have a beer? The good news seems to be that if I get back to this point, everything willl be good (snark).
Thanks for your suggestion and time, I at least have the ability to modify a project (I think)! It was also good to see that I'm not alone out there and that CS5 is not worth buying.... as tons of people are having lots of buggy issues like this, hence why bother upgrading ... (sorry if that started to appear to be an Adobe rant). I guess Apple's latest OS is also having problems, so what say, let's just stop pushing garbage out the door before it works -- I realize the shareholders are important in this age of High Frequency Day Trading, but maybe the customers need real products that have value, versus the illusion of upgrades that crash and upgrades that rely on customer feedback to get things right ... pathetic!

I've just received an ad from Adobe saying that I can update my old Photoshop CS to the CS4 one. Cool ! But I was wondering if it is ok to buy the CS4 for Mac, as my original Photoshop CS was for PC ? Will the licensing process work in that case ?

Fireworks CS4 / Mac OS X 10.6.4 - My UI is completely wonky

Okay, start up Fireworks.
New Document. The window for a new document is ABOVE the application menu, meaning I can't get to it at all. It creates a new document at about 29% size (or smaller) and places it in the complete, top left of my Mac's screen, meaning BEHIND the Fireworks/Apple menus. I can't get to the document at all.
Selecting the "f" key to move between interfaces (full screen, etc) produces a completely disappearing interface. In other words the ENTIRE Fireworks interface completely disappears.
Same if I go to "Workspace..." and select ANY workspace in the menu. The WHOLE ENTIRE interface disappears.
I've thrown away Fireworks Preferences about half a dozen times and tried restarting... nothing. I've rebooted the computer... nothing.
Anyone have anymore ideas? Right now Fireworks is completely useless to me, and I'm really frustrated and angry.

And honestly? I can't pinpoint the time when it started going bad, but I *think* it happened around the time I ran the Adobe Update. I try *very hard* to keep this laptop as clean as possible, and I'm super-anal about install software, only installing purchased, licensed stuff, no shareware unless it's a full stable release, no beta software, etc. So my *instinct* is to think it happened sometime around an update.
Right now it *seems* to be working okay, and I haven't run the update. DW was the most frustrating as its panels and panel sets would COMPLETELY disappear and never come back. It almost seemed like a graphics card issue, know what I mean? Like the panels wouldn't display properly. You'd make a change (say, go from "Developer" workspace to "Classic" workspace) and panels would completely disappear and never come back. You'd minimize panels and they'd phantom disappear. Sometimes switching apps (DW > Option-Finder > DW) would bring them back, but not consistently. And DW was the ONLY app that would do that. That wasn't so irritating. The Fireworks issue however was completely unusable. I'd go to create a new document and the new document window would be ABSOLUTELY at "0,0" on the Mac. I'm talking the top left of the new document window was BEHIND the Apple Menu. I couldn't grab the window bar or anything. Just utterly unusable.
I've got CS4 completely installed. Last night I removed every Adobe product I could see on the computer, pulled all preference files, went into application support and removed anything Adobe, and used spotlight to hunt for anything else containing the word "Adobe" and tried to clean it as best I could and did a custom reinstall this morning leaving out Version Cue and Drive and NOT running the update, and so far everything looks and works perfectly.
I posted another thread in the CS forums, but someone over there said that the Suite forum doesn't get much traffic and to try the DW and FW forums. Since I posted here first, I'm going to use this thread. I'll look over in the DW forums and see if anyone has the same issue, but if I run the updater (which I'm currently debating, honestly) and it reappears, I want to have my hands on that clean script. Where do I get that for Mac OS 10.6.4?
