Is Dynamic Taxonomy Generation possible?

Hi All,
I need to findout if this can be done.  I'm hoping to further refine a taxonomy via document metadata.   The root level (1st Folder) of the taxonomy with the associations to the index would be created.  But then any further subcategories would be created on the fly by information stored within the repository documents.
An example using Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species below:
A taxonomy named Kindom is created and associated with an Index and Repository.  "Some utility" then reads all the documents in the repository.  These documents would store a parameter such as (Kingdom.Phylum.Class.Order) in their metadata.  That taxonomy structure of (Phylum.Class.Order) is then created by the system and added to the Kingdom Taxonomy that was previously created by the Admin, and the document in question is then stored under the final folder in this example the Order node.  The system then continues to read each document and create any other sub-categorizing needed to properly store each document.
A variation on this would be to only have certain "category documents" that store new sub-category information, theses documents would get read first and create the extra taxonomy structure. The remaining documents are then associated with the categories in a normal manner.

Hi Dan,
to summarize:
Generation of a navigation structure based on properties and property values, right?
Stay tuned...we are working to get something like that into KM soon. The TREX engine has the technology ready ("Guided Search") and the work to get it into the UI is ongoing.

  • UIX dynamic image generation problem under SUSE Linux

    Hi,
    we have developed an application with UIX 2.1.14 under Windows 2000, and everything works fine when we run the application on the local OC4J.
    But after deploying the .war file to our production system under SUSE Linux SLES-7 and 9iAS Rel.2, the dynamic image generation doesn't work correctly:
    One strange thing we noticed is that rendering works fine when we use ground colours like #00FF00, #FF0000 and so on. But not when we use colours like #3172ba. We have tried this with XVFB, VNC and with "headless" JDK 1.4 (with java option -Djava.awt.headless=true in opmn.xml).
    Any ideas? Or possible reasons why image generation works using colours like #FF0000 and why not with colours like #3172BA?

  • How to generate a MSDS report from status GP (Generation possible) to RE

    Hi EHS Goeroes,
    I'm struggling with the Generation of the MSDS. I have done the following procedure and settings:
    a) Create MSDS report (CG42)
    b) Edit Generation Variant (CG2B)
    Settings:
    (I have assigned my template to the Generation Variant)
    Generate manual request automatically: marked
    Change Marks: 0
    Initial release status: RE (released)
    Version requirement: unmarked
    Set historical automatically: unmarked
    c) EHS > Specification Workbench > Report from Template (to test the design - display is correct and all phrases can be found)
    d) EHS > Specification Workbench > Create new report
    (report has been created succesfully and appears in Report Management).
    e) EHS > Specification Workbench > Report Management:
    MSDS_29 Material Safety Data Sheet for China World
    Chinese Not Relevant Generation Poss. => generation possible.
    Feedback affter clicking on Accept: You tried to carry out action 'Accept' on a report with status GP. However, this action is not allowed for reports with this status.
    Feedback after clicking on Generate: You tried to carry out action 'Generate' on a report with status GP. However, this action is not allowed for reports with this status.
    d) SE38 I have no jobs scheduled yet, so I run the following two programs to start the worklist manually, RC1AVGE1 and RC1AVGE2.
    RC1AVGE1 - gave allot of feedback information regarding to changes and so on (first time I run it).
    RC1AVGE2 - feedback: EHS: 'Worklist Generation for Reports - Selection for Check. - 0 reports to be checked were found'
    From my understanding program RC1AVGE2 - should generate the MSDS.
    e) WWI - monitor display (CG5Z):
    100 @03\QNo background processes in client@ 5 SBR WWI-00000000000000000002 FREE RMDERKS

    xxx SV003 @5C\QWWI server is inactive@ @02\QNo background processes on WWI server@
    I checked if I had any jobs running in the background or has been finished, but it seems like it goes wrong here, the system does not generate a job for the generation of the MSDS_29. To be able to get the status of MSDS_29 to RE (Released).
    Does anybody has an idea what I do wrong, or which settings might be incorrect? Futhermore, what are the further steps to issue the report in the SD module - report shipping?
    Help is much appreciated!
    Roy Derks

    Hi Roy,
    Check and activate the QWWI server for the second job wwi - 110. Try once to generate the MSDS.
    I will revert back if i get information.

    mahesh.

  • UIX: how to get dynamic image generation working on ias10G?

    Hi,
    Anybody got UIX Dynamic Image Generation working on ias10G, on unix? My Images do not get generated (the page only shows the plain links)
    My env:
    - ias10G
    - AIX Version 5
    - java version: unknown, do not know what version ias10G is using
    On earlier versions (OC4J 903) we had to make sure an XServer was running and pointed our DISPLAY variable to that server. When the XServer was down, we got a nice error message in the application logs. However on ias10G I cannot figure out where to set this variable and I cannot find any error messages.
    Can anybody please help me out a bit?
    Cheers,
    Martijn

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks for your reply. However, I have not yet been able to get it working.
    I have verified that the java version is indeed (this is what the oc4j logfile shows when I supply the -showversion parameter)
    java version "1.4.1"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1)
    Classic VM (build 1.4.1, J2RE 1.4.1 IBM AIX build ca1411-20030930 (JIT enabled: jitc))The relevant fragment of the opmn.xml:
              <process-type id="oc4j_cif_mh" module-id="OC4J">

                      </category>
                   </module-data>
                   <start timeout="900" retry="2"/>
                   <stop timeout="120"/>
                   <restart timeout="720" retry="2"/>
                   <port id="ajp" range="3301-3400"/>
                   <port id="rmi" range="3201-3300"/>
                   <port id="jms" range="3701-3800"/>
                   <process-set id="default_island" numprocs="1"/>
                </process-type>Finally, your JSP passes the test. I can access it. But still no uix image generation. Are there any logfiles I can check for error messages on the failing image generation? May it be a web cache problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • XMLParseException during dynamic theme generation

    Hi,
    I4m having problems with SQL statements in some requests to MapViewer during dynamic theme generation.
    When I put in the WHERE clause the operator "less than" the request fails. An XMLParseException is generated.
    For example:
    <jdbc_query XXXXXXX>
    select geom from table where column < 10
    </jdbc_query>
    the following exception is generated:
    oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Expected name instead of .
    When I change de symbol < to &lt; (like MapViewer Users Guide recommends):
    <jdbc_query XXXXXXX>
    select geom from table where column &lt; 10
    </jdbc_query>
    the following exception is generated:
    oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Unexpected EOF
    If the is no WHERE clause (select geom from table) the request works.
    What can be wrong ? Can I use the less than operator in the WHERE clause ?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Generation possible status not changing

    hi,
    I created the SOP report from specification work bench. I can view the report entry in report management  but the status of the report is in " generation possible" it is not getting executed to the next status. Nor is the report getting released .
    I can view the report  output from specification workbench 'report from template' .
    For this I created a new generation variant with the validity area and application object assigned to it.
    All the ticks relevant are done in generation variant
    My report template is also in released status.
    Please suggest !
    Ashish

    Hello
    I totally agree to Anil.  "Generation possible" is a "bad" status. To my knowlegde as explained by Anil these are "potential" reasons:
    - RFC conncetion lost
    - WWI Server not ready and up; or to many requests are there (I realized this this week): Therefore the WWI process ist still working but the number of documents to be generated is high and therefore it can happen that the WWI server needs 8 or more hours to handle all requests. Afterwards (if you are lucky) the reports in the queue have been generated sucessfully.
    In any case: to my knowledge if non of the "normal" reasons apply and could be removed you need the "debug/replace" option because you will not be able to get this stupid report processed to the next stage. I assume that you will find some OSS notes regarding this (as mentioned by Anil) and may be in higher EH&S release (ECC 6) a "better" solution is found.
    With best regards

    PS: With ECC 6.0 and Enhancement Pack 3 further technical options exist in controlling the WWI process.
    PPS: a quick research in the area of WWI in OSS I found something like 12 potential OSS Notes regarding this issue

  • Dynamic  report generation

    We are migrating our client reports from crystal reports to business object reports and I need your help on how to achieve the below functionality in Business object reports.
    Requirements
    1. We need to generate and deliver around 30,000 statements to clients (mostly ftp and email) from 300 Webi report templates.
    2. This has to be a complete automated process with no user intervention.
    For example: Using Webi / Deski Report1, we need to run the report for each client account and then generate a statement and deliver it to client (only client specific data). Web1 reports are complex and some might take 30 to 60mins for generation.
    Questions
    1) Can it be done by just using BO tools with out coding ( using any .net sdk)?
    2) Can a single BO server handle the load, If not How to load balance reports generation and delivery across multiple servers?
    3) How to dynamically pass parameters to Webi report without coding?
    Thanks for reading my post. Any help/ suggestion is appreciated.

    In our current architecture,
    1) We use crystal report templates and pass dynamic datasets at runtime to generate multiple client statements.
    2) For load balancing, we have 6 app servers with crystal runtime installed and we distribute load across the servers using custom code.
    My question is if use BO enterprise will there be any performance enhancements?

  • Real challenge. dynamic ssi not possible? Help!

    I'm trying to reference static html pages from my pl/sql generated web pages without using frames. I can't seem to come up with any way to do this. Here's what I'm trying to essentially to do.
    filename below is a static html page being referenced.
    PROCEDURE onDemand
    (filename in varchar2) IS
    BEGIN
    PageStart;
    PageHeadbar;
    PageNavbar;
    htp.p('<table>');
    htp.p('<tr><td>');
    htp.p('<p>When This is working, the contents of the file <b>'||filename || '</b> will be included.</p>');
    htp.p('</td></tr>');
    htp.p('</table>');
    PageEnd;
    END onDemand;
    The options I CAN'T use are:
    1. Using utl_file to grab the contents of the file from that directory.
    2. XML url referencing.
    I thought maybe I could use the server side include option, but I don't see how I can integrate ssi with the mod_plsql output. I know I can compile a static html file as part of a psp compilation, but then it's completely embedded in the resulting procedure and I won't have any dynamic options.
    One solution that may work but we're trying to avoid, is to load all the existing html files into tables and just pull them out at the time of the procedure is called. Still, we'd like to avoid this and use the existing html files in the directories that they are in.
    Here's one possible option I was considering but am not sure how to make it work.
    I was thinking I could make my procedure that I'm calling part of a package and name the procedure .shtml. When I call the procedure it produces the web page which will have a server side include command in it that would reference the file I need. If I can get the apache server to then run the results of the mod_plsql through the mod_include module, it would hopefully then pull in the file I was trying to include. Is there any way that this might work? Here's the package body of what I'm trying with this option.
    create or replace package body ssi as
    procedure shtml (filename in varchar2)
    is
    begin
    PageStart;
    PageHeadbar;
    PageNavbar;
    htp.p('<table>');
    htp.p('<tr><td>');
    htp.p('<p>When This is working, the contents of the file <b>'||filename || '</b> will be included.</p>');
    htp.p('<!--#include virtual="../html/en/'||filename||'" -->');
    htp.p('</td></tr>');
    htp.p('</table>');
    PageEnd;
    end shtml;
    end ssi;
    If it would work, I'd call ssi.shtml?filename=example.html, the procedure creates the web page to be generated via the mod_plsql module, but then the mod_include module parses the page and pulls in the example.html.... is this possible? What would be the necessary configuration of the apache server to do this?
    There has to be a better way. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    This is a big reason to make the move to dynamic development. There are many sites that use PHP or CF and never connect to a database. The ability to have your menus, headers, footers added to your pages with one simple line of code such as:
    <cfinclude template="FooterContent.cfm">
    for ColdFusion or
    <?php
    include("FooterContent.php");
    ?>
    for php
    Makes it well worth moving from static HTML pages to using  CF or php.
    Even if your host did support SSI's  you'll find true dynamic development to be a much more reliable solution - and this isn't even mentioning how to handle form submissions and so many other non database related functions... for example  this line of code
    Copyright 2002 - <cfoutput>#DateFormat(Now(), "yyyy")#</cfoutput>
    Will automatically show the current year at the end of your copyright statement in your footer - sweet, right?
    Hope this encourages toy to make the move.

  • Dynamic HTML generation from a Dynamic PDF/XDP

    I was wondering if LiveCycle is able to generate a dynamic HTML page from a dynamic XDP/PDF form in LiveCycle ES ?
    I have read up on the help contents regarding HTML generation from PDF forms but its not mentioned anywhere whether LiveCycle supports the creation of an HTML page that mimics the dynamic behavior of a dynamic PDF/XDP form.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes it does ....

  • Dynamic form generation

    Dynamic NX form generation from recordset
    Quite often I've needed different forms (edit from an ADDT nextensio list)
    dependent on user level or company
    it would be very useful to be able to define the form fields from a recordset first
    rather than create individually tailored forms
    Paul

    Hi
    1. You're on the wrong forum. Please post on the LiveCycle designer forum.
    2. Use a Table or a repeating subform. Bind the table row to "persons[*]" and the column cells to person/first_name.

  • Dynamic SQL generation

    Hi All,
    As part of the ODI Transforms, is it possible to create dynamic sqls at the run time, which could be dependent on the data coming inside, which in turn would be looking at some kind of mapping table and create the sql dynamically.
    Is this feature possible ODI?
    Thanks in advance for your input.

    Hi Cezar Santos,
    Thanks for the reply. The scenario is given below:
    Logic to dynamically map chartfield to segment.
    A user would have access to a GUI domain value map that would allow them to map BU/Chartfield to Ledger/Segment.
    Edge App 1 (PSFT)     AIA Common Key     Edge App 2 (Retail)
    Business Unit (from SETID)     Chartfield          Segment     Ledger

    The transformation happens inside the XFORM view by using an alias to select the columns from RETAIL_STG. Once the aliases are applied, the view can be mapped one to one with the PSFT_STG table.
    Use ODI to select unique Ledgers from RETAIL_STG.
    Execute transformation and transportation of data.
    Move to next Ledger and repeat.
    For US001/Ledger1
    SELECT LEDGER AS BUSINESS_UNIT, SEGMENT1 AS ACCOUNT, SEGMENT2 AS DEPARTMENT, SEGMENT3 AS PRODUCT, SEGMENT4 AS OPERATING UNIT FROM RETAIL_STG WHERE LEDGER = “Ledger1”
    For US002/Ledger2
    SELECT LEDGER AS BUSINESS_UNIT, SEGMENT3 AS ACCOUNT, SEGMENT4 AS DEPARTMENT, ‘ ‘, SEGMENT2 AS OPERATING UNIT FROM RETAIL_STG WHERE LEDGER = “Ledger2”
    For US003/Ledger3
    SELECT LEDGER AS BUSINESS_UNIT, ‘ ‘,’ ‘, ‘ ‘, SEGMENT1 AS OPERATING UNIT FROM RETAIL_STG WHERE LEDGER = “Ledger3”

  • "Dynamic" Template/iViews possible?

    Hi,
    I have created a java WebDynpro application which uses ( via my own portal service ) the Rooms APIs and creates rooms. This works perfectly fine.
    During my little wizard, the user is able to choose a template for the room creation, similar to the creation functionality in the Portal itself.
    I would like to offer for each (own created) template a bunch of, let's say parameters, which define which iViews or external functionality ( e.g. a ceratin Gantt chart from BW ) shall appear in the iViews or on the pages.
    Is it possible to do something like that?
    My two ideas are:
    1. working with the PCD APIs and try to change the iViews.
    2. do this via dynamic navigation of the iViews.
    At least those are the things I've read about it, but I do not know if any of this leads into the proper direction...
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot for all helpful comments - answers will be rewarded !
    Regards,
    Sabine

    I've solved the problem myself.
    It works fine with the parameters defined for the templates which can be mapped to parameters of new created rooms.

  • Dynamic Class Generation

    Hi
    Is it possible to actually generate a class dynamically and have it loaded by the Virtual Machine while the applet or application is running. For example, it may be necessary to create a derived class from an existing class based on parameters that are given only during runtime and this derived class may be actually override the paint method to do some other painting.
    Is this possible, assuming syntactically and semantically the class file is correct?
    Can you please email your replies to [email protected]
    Thanks a lot
    Sriram Panyam

    Hi
    Thanks for that. I can actually use Class.getClassLoader to get an instance of the JVM's class loader and then load a class that is in a byte array with the defineClass function. But is there a way to actually compile say a set of java statements. eg:
    String progString = "package a.b;" +
    "public class someclass" + "{" +
    "public static void main(String args[]){" +
    "System.out.println("Does NOthing"); }" + "}";
    If I give the above string, is it possible to actually compile it and return a byte stream? Is there a Compiler within the VM itself? I dont want to store the source code anywhere on the server. And the class name itself may vary depending on the instance of the application. The only other way I was thinking was to to do a manual compilation as well. But obviously this wont be anywhere as efficient or optimised as Sun's compilers.
    The other snag is that it wont be possible to invoke the compiler if all this is happening in an applet!!! Signing is a way too expensive option at this stage!!!
    Thanks
    Sriram

  • Dynamic Image generation

    Hi All,
    I have to generate a images dynamically. Sample are like Stock market index movement at a particular time during day.I also want to generate same kind of lines(images) which defines a sought of dynamic flow chart , So how can I acheive this.
    All help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    I am not sure that it is generally possible to work in such configuration. When some user is logged in, there is a display(number 0) and if permissions are not restricted anyone can reuse it - that's what the application does. However, when no user is logged in, there is either no displat at all, or it is highly restricted, so you can't use it from the applications. Probably there is a way to configure this screen to not be restrictive, but I don't know it.
    So the options are
    - have a dummy always user logged in to create a display
    - use Headless mode(set awt.headless property to true)
    - use Xvfb - it creates display in memory rather then on a physical device
    Hope this helps.

  • Mapview dynamic theme generation questions

    In exercising the MapViewer tool with thematics map I had a view questions on the capabilities of the component:
    1. Is there a way in the map _request element reference a dynamically defined expression (column)
    that is returned from the query defined in the value of the "<jdbc_query>" element. I want to show counts from an inline view,
    but for brevity consider the the SQL
    select geom, state , state || '-' || state_abrv concat_state_name from states
    It seems that both the "label_column" attribute of the "<jdbc_query>" element and the "column" attribute of a "<rule>" element in
    a style rule can only reference columns that exist in the base table either of the base map/theme or in the query .
    I cannot seem to use a specification of "concat_state_name"
    in the "label_column" attribute ... throws ClassCastException. Should this be possible ?
    If not would the workaround would appear to use a view that is dynamically defined and insert a new map based on the view ?
    2. In my inline view example, I found in the "<jdbc_query>" element that when I specifed a "render_style" that
    was an advanced style with buckets it automatically selected my count expression and rendered the map correctly, which
    is great, but it might be a good idea to make it explicit if 1. could be handled (or can).
    3. For thematic maps it would be nice to dynamically define the buckets (<AdvancedStyle>)
    within the map request as the potient for permutations of numeric ranges in any application could vary.
    It looks like <styling_rules> might be able to handle this if you can use the BETWEEN operator or something
    like runway_number >= 10 and runway_number < 20 as expressions. Are these valid and if so where are they specified
    in the map_request ? I did not see them nested anywhere in the DTD yet the Example 2-1 in the documentation would
    imply they can be specified in the map request and the tool map definition tool does not seem to support the concept of a
    variable in the base table. The workaround would appear to be to dynamically add the theme using an insert.

    If not would the workaround would appear to use a view that is dynamically defined and insert a new map based on the view ? MapViewer does allow dynamic expressions in <jdbc_query>. Can you test the following simple request:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <map_request datasource = "mvdemo">
    <themes>
    <theme name="theme1" min_scale="5.0E7" max_scale="0.0">
    <jdbc_query
    datasource="mvdemo"
    jdbc_srid="0"
    spatial_column="geom"
    render_style="C.RED"
    label_style="T.STREET NAME"
    label_column="concat_state_name"
    >select geom, state , state || '-' || state_abrv concat_state_name from states where state_abrv='MA' </jdbc_query>
    </theme>
    </themes>
    </map_request>
    As long as the name specified in lable_column matches the alias you give in the select list it should work.
    If not then maybe you need to use the view-based approach. It will definately work in the up-coming 9.0.4 version.

    in the map_request ? Yes that may indeed be a good thing to have in a future version of mapviewer. In the mean time yes you can always use such expressions as you provided in the styling_rules (which is only for predefined themes) or in a <jdbc_theme>.
    I did not see them nested anywhere in the DTD yet the Example 2-1 in the documentation would

    Thanks,
