Is ECC's enhpx(x=1,2,3,4) the same as PI's enhpx?
I get confused on this. Would you please help?
Thanks!
Hi Jennifer,
You would not have any confusion if you completely understand what an EhP is.
Here is what sap help says about Enhancement packages:
"SAP enhancement packages are optionally installed software
innovations for SAP . They include functional enhancements, industryspecific
functionality, and simplifications u2013 for example, to the user interface.
With enhancement packages, you can easily adopt ongoing SAP innovations
at a lower cost than full upgrades..."
ECC's enhancement pack will have additional functionality with respect to ECC 6.0 features whereas PI's EhPs will have its own additional functionality:

Difference in Material availability date for ECC ATP check & for APO ATP check in the same order
Hi Gurus,
I have a question: on what basis material availability date is calculated in forward scheduling?
Eg:
For a customer GR hours are maintained in unloading point calendar in customer master and Customers are not CIF'ed across to APO.
GR hours are maintained for weekdays from 8:00 to 12:00 & 1:00 to 6:00.
In a sales order with two line items with Requested date today & plenty of stock on hand for two products( ECC & APO) where line 10 (product 1) triggers ECC ATP check & line 20 (product 2) triggers APO ATP check at same location (loc1).
RDD is today, material availability date for ECC ATP check (line 10) is today (working as expected) but where as the material availability date for APO ATP check (line 20)is pushed to next day by which for the same customer there are different delivery dates. And two delivery notes will be created & truck will be on road at different times for the same customer which is unacceptable.
What am I missing here to get the material availability date as today for forward scheduling? Please guide me on this.
Thanks,
NiharHi Nihar

Would you know the reason to this? Also, in the first four rows, CET time = 7:24 which should had been 19:24. Please correct me if I am missing something here.

ECC and BW in the same system - Gotchas?
From the documents, and from the information from SAP, it appears that BW 3.5 can be installed into an ERP 2004 / ECC 500 system. Does anyone have any experience with this during the ECC 5 rampup?
I have a client that is considering this and would like to know of any gotchas before we hit them.
For instance the documents mention you need to tune the Oracle database with the parameter "star_transformation_enabled=true", which is normally used in a BW system. What impact, if any, will that have the ECC side of things?Hi John,
Just to respond to your post and clarify some of the areas.
1. The mySAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 and it's internal SAP BW is <b>not</b> an MCOD implementation. The SAP BW is internal with the ECC (same instance, same database schema, and same database. Whereas MCOD is different instances, different schemas, but same database. One important point is that MCOD and mySAP ERP 2004 fully support three tier architecture.
2. MCOD was <u>not</u> recommended for a mix of OLTP and OLAP applications on all databases until recently (e.g. recommended for SAP R/3 Enterprise and mySAP SRM but not SAP R/3 Enterprise and SAP BW). This has recently changed where a combination of OLTP and OLAP is now supported: See http://service.sap.com/mcod or see SAP note 712777.
3. SAP BW Performance: In a mySAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 system with the internal SAP BW functionality active, the system must be configured for both the transaction processing and OLAP functions. This configuration must include load balancing if you have high usage. Without load balancing you are unable to target activities to specific servers or separate different user groups. Obviously if you have only one server load balancing is not available. It is strongly recommended to use the three system configurations for SAP ERP applications and SAP BW.
4. Automatic multiple Instance shutdown:
For MCOD this is not the case that shutting down one system in your MCOD installation will also shutdown your other MCOD systems; this only happens if you also close the database (remember it is the only part that this shared). The instances can be started and shutdown independently.
For the internal SAP BW within ECC 5.0 you have "one system" so if you shut it down, you really shut it down.
5. Impact of applying patches or doing client copies:
For MCOD systems, the systems are independent and can be patched and administered independently. The only common part is the database. The database maintenance and patching does affect all the connected MCOD systems. For processes like system copies, these are also independent of the other systems. Obviously if you share the same server for the different systems you need to take care with CPU and memory usage of these functions.
As SAP BW within ECC 5.0 is the same system, you have to patch the system all at once (recommendation is to use SP-Stacks). A SAP_BASIS support package applied to ECC is also applied to SAP BW at the same time. With regard to client copies, client copies are only supported for ERP 'OLTP' clients (not for the SAP BW client).
6. "The headaches just are not worth it....especially since server prices are low "
I would not totally agree with this comment. For mySAP ERP this low price server argument also works for adding more app servers to ERP and doing load balancing. The use of MCOD or the internal SAP BW within ECC will be made on a number of factors by the customer with different weighting being applied to each of the Pros and Cons.
The new "internal SAP BW within ECC 5.0" gives customer's system architects more options and increases the flexibility of the total solution in general (delivery of a centralized EDW, deliver of operation reporting, deliver of application or organization specific datamarts to name a few). With more options and flexibility, more decision points need to be reviewed and analyzed which can be a good thing.
I hope this helps,
Mike. -
Can E-RECRUITING share the same box of ECC?
I always install E-RECRUITING on a dedicated server as an ABAP application. Then connect to its backend ECC.
Just curious, can I install E-RECRUITING on the same box where its backend ECC system is installed? ECC and E-RECRUITING will have
different SIDs but co-exist in one Oracle MCOD DB.
Further more, can E-RECRUITING and its backend ECC belong to the same SID but on different clients?
Thanks for help.Yes and yes. The first scenario is comparable to I2-A and the second one to I2-B. See the application help for details.

BW and R/3 in the same box with a single instance ECC 5.0
Hi anybody using this scenario of having bw and r/3 in the same box....we are planing to consider in our project.
will be happy if anybody can provide me some help on this.
thanks and regards
neelHI Neel Kamal,
I think its a better option to distinguish OLTP like R/3 or ECC and OLAP like BW rather on a single instance
from the above posts
Let us know if this holds good

PPDS: I have a setup matrix in SAP ECC 6.0, and want to transfer the same to APO using Core Interface. Has anyone done it before?
Hi Subhash,
Please open this link to see the details:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/EN/89/bd3e42ce98033be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
You perform the data transfer in the following sequence:
Plant
Setup groups
Work centers
Routings
You check the setup groups in SAP APO.
You create the setup matrixes in SAP SCM.
Thanks, Marius -
ECC 6.0 and ECC 5.0 runing in the same Machine.
Hi Guys,
I have a challenge: Install a ECC 6.0 with HR and an ERP 5.0 on the same Machine and Operational System. Do you know some documentation, link or tips for this type of case? Do I need run something different than a normal installation?
Best Regards,
Jader Coelho.Hi,
What OS are you going for....Windows / unix ?
Just make sure you have enough Memory CPU to facilitate both
and have enouge disk for the paging file.
Have you considered MCOD, and is there a reason why you want to run EEC6 and ECC5 why not just EEC6 for both.

BD64 issue having ECC + BI on the same client
Hi there,
We do have a small instance having ECC and BI in the same System.
The ABAP RFC connection is fine and when Replicated in RSA1 Datasources from SourceSystem R3 went fine.
But I think we have an issue with the Idoc settings.
Went through the doc [http://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/908836c3-7f97-2b10-4cb8-e6790361c152?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] and found that when BD64 it asks me the Sender / Receiver to be different.
Though as mentioned in our case it is the same.
It is really needed to update these settings in BD64 when both systems are in the same System?
Thank you,
A.Hi Asik,
Thank you for the reply.
Yes, that is right.
We access BW and R3 through the same logon.
I found the issue though !!
Would explain it in case someone faces a similar issue.
1- The ABAP RFC connection was fine.
Tested and transfered the DataSources fine.
2 - though there was still an issue with table RSBASIDOC not showing Transfer Structure field.

1. Go to WE20 and check whether Partner profile T90CLNT090 exist in LS type,if not just add Parnter profile with same and save.
Partner profile Name: T90CLNT090
TYPE: LS
Give:
Ty: US
User: User Name
Lang: EN
and Save.
2. Again re-click on Partner Profile: T90CLNT090
you will see ,there will be some entries in Inbound & out Bound Tabs.
Delete the following from outbound:
1.RSRQST
Delete the following from inbound.
1.RSINFO
2.RSSEND
and save your partner profile.
3. now execute - RSA1, it will ask to active Workbench. Just activate it . it will work now.... Cheers. -
Implementing ECC 6.0 for HCM as compared to the exisiting 4.7 system
We are currently on a 4.7 system without ESS / MSS and rather than technically upgrading to ECC 6.0 a new implementation is going to happen (due for many reasons, mainly finance). My concern is for the HCM parts of the implementation.
Can anyone advise on any items that should be completed to make sure this a success as well as make sure that there are no roadblocks for implementing ESS / MSS during or post go live and what other new functionality that can be leveraged?
My thoughts so far as the following:
- update all PA, OM, PY etc config in ECC 6.00 the same as in 4.7 - will this cover everything or are there additional tables to take care of?
- migration of data can be taken care of PA, OM data using LSMW's unless there is a better approach for this? such as org migration tools ettc
- Org structure must be correct with regards to reporting manager for ESS / MSS to function correctly - any other data items or risks to be taken care of for ESS / MSS implementation
- Main new functionality in 6.0. not in 4.7 I see as using of Adobe forms / webdynpro in MSS - what else can be leveraged?
Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Dannyboythere is a lot of functionality available, and may processes available
I would recommend you to check the release notes of ESS MSS and ECC 600

BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 in the same server
Dear experts,
In my company the scenarion is like, we have installed ECC 6.0 in server where development work is going on.
Now we have requirement to implement the BI 7.0 in the same server as already BI content is existing in the same server.
My question is
Is it possible to implement the BI on the same server?
If yes, is it possible to extract the data from the development client on the same server where ECC 6.0 running?
If No, then what is the use of the BI contents in the ECC 6.0 server?
Regards,
SUDHi
> it possible to implement the BI on the same server?
Yes, why not? But that will be a separate SAP installation with different SID.
>If yes, is it possible to extract the data from the development client on the same server where ECC 6.0 running?
Yes, that is possible. Both the system will be having different Logical system name. You have to create a source system connection from ur BI to ECC system and then data extraction is possible.
>If No, then what is the use of the BI contents in the ECC 6.0 server?
BI Content in ECC is there to facilitate data extraction from ECC to BI. It would provide you the structure of data extraction. Presence of BI Cont does not mean a ECC system will be working as BI system.
Hope this clarifies your doubt.

BI and ECC 6.0 installation in the same server
Hello SAP Experts,
I am given a task of installing BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 in the same server. Can someone suggest me of what are all the Do's and Don'ts in this scenario and what is the hardware requirements.
Thanks & Regards
VanithaHi,
For installing BI, you have to install Netweaver.
You already have ECC 6.0 in the System.
As a part of BI system, you will be extracting data from ECC Ssytem and loading in BW System.
Hence if your requireement is like data is loaed in the the BW System every one hour, it will slow down the ECC System.
In future you may need to do some OS patch update, database patch update which is not required in ECC, but it will effect both systems
I have not seen any scenario where OLTP and OLAP System are in the same box
But if you are just doing for learning purpose and you are doing it in your sand box , that should be fine -
XI and PI connecting to the same ECC system
I had read this thread XI and PI
Currently, our ECC is connecting to XI. In Integration Engine config of ECC, role of business system is "Application System". In XI, role is "Integration Server". If we need to add a PI and connect to ECC, what should be done or what is the workaround that can make XI and PI connecting to ECC at the same time?
Thanks.Hi Mark,
Thanks for the suggested blog, I need some time to study this. I do not understand why 'standard' integration server is defined as 'Application System'.
I also need to study the limitation of SPROXY on SAP application server refer to only one XI/PI system. May be the issue of my scenario is not just connecting multiple XI/PI to ECC system.
The scenario:
Maximo MEA 6.2 <-> XI 3.0 <--> ECC (current)
Maximo MEA 7.5 <--> PI 7.x <--> ECC (to be added)
Any input or experience sharing? Thanks.

Scenario-ECC system is down but still can run the warehouse operations in EWM
Hi,
We all know that EWM is an independent system , even if ECC system is down still we can run the warehouse operations in EWM.
However what happens once ECC system has got up, how would all the pending EWM goods movements updated in ECC?
Will it be ending with queue errors? Or is there any manual process required to process those movements to update ECC.
Thanks,
GanesanHello Ganesan,
If the system is down, Queues will be stopped processing for that period of time. Once the ECC is up, the queues will start processing. If not, you can reset the status of queues, then they will be processing immediately.

Hello Everyone,
If any changes are done in SAP BO Analysis office, then the change can be done in the SAP BW in the respective Targets.
But how can we do the changes in the SAP ECC ? Is it possible to do the changes in the tables ?
Any answer is appreciable
Regards,
KarteekWe are using the "Input ready Bex query", in order to modify the values in "BO Analysis office".
ECC BI BO Analysis office
1 -------------> 1 ----------> 1 ------
|
| (Now Data is changed in Analysis office from 1 to 2)
|
(?) <-------------- 2 <---------- 2 <-----
(Will it be updated in ECC)
(Diagram Explanation)
From ECC we can load the data (Consider Value-1) to SAP BI and from SAP BI we can load the data to BO analysis office.
So, now if we change the data in BO Analysis office (Value-1 changed to Value-2)..
Now the data is changed in SAP BI to Value-2.
So what about the data in ECC ? Whether it is changed or not?
Please provide us a real time business Scenario..
Thanks,

RFC receiver adapter issue - ECC side we are seeing blank data for the RFC
Hi All,
We are using Receiver RFC adapter to call a custom RFC (Synchronous call). It was working fine, but recently RFC was modified (They added new fields). We re-imported the RFC into ESR and also modified the mapping to reflect the new RFC strucuture. Now when we execute the RFC, at the ECC side no data is beeing seen. On the PI side we see data in sxmb_moni. It looks fine. However we don't see anydata in ECC. We did full cache refresh but it did not help.
Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts on this issue.
Thanks
-PradeepI enabled the the RFC adapter trace in PI. It appears like adapter is not sending the structure and tabled that are populated. IT is sending only 230 bytes. Any clue why would rfc adapter drop the tables and structures??
