Is EJB Java's solution for Thin Clients??

I want to create an API that controls my odbc layer and place it on my server, not the clients.
What is the best java solution to create thin client java applications?

Well that's a big question but I'll give it a go. Use J2EE and let your clients be web browsers. Do all your work on the application server with servlets, JSPs and EJBs. That's about as thin as you can get. Browsers don't give you the best interface in the world but you gain:
1> No 10meg JRE installation on each client machine.
2> No worrying about the JRE version.
3> All upgrades occur near you so no client version to worry about when you make changes.
blah blah blah

  • Enable USB redirection on 2012 RDSH running on ESXi for thin client

What I have configured right now is Windows Server 2012 RDSH server installed on a ESXi 5.1 host.
I am going to be purchasing thin client machines that will need to use USB headphone/mic combo units.  I need to make sure that the USB redirection will work from the thin client to the RDSH RDP session.   I will NOT be using virtual machines
on the server, only a terminal session.  Please help me with the following points.
    1.  Is windows 8 embeded my only option?
    2.  Does RemoteFX support USB redirection on server 2012 RDSH?
    3.  I have not been able to find an applicable guide to help me with what I am doing.
    Thank you

    Hi,
After referring your post, I can understand that you are looking for RemoteFX USB redirection on server 2012. Yes, server 2012 support RemoteFX USB redirection and can able to use the benefit of server. Here providing you the related article for configuration,

  • Audio for thin client

    Hi,
I'm creating a project in Captivate 6 and will need to add audio to each slide.  The project will be viewed within our organisation where a percentage of staff use 'thin client' machines which are basically dumb terminals.  On these machines audio and video struggle to work as they dont stream properly.
Although I don't have any video, does anyone have any tips on the best way to record audio but in a way that gives it the best possible chance of streaming properly.  Should i record direct in captivate or using somehthing like audacity?  Are there options for optimising audio?
    Any advice gratefully received.
    K

Thin clients are usually in place because bandwidth is very low.  Trying to stream video and audio in such an environment is not usually going to be successful.  In some thin client environments (e.g. CITRIX) that I have seen they even disable audio completely to conserve bandwidth.
You may be asking for too much trying to deliver video this way.

  • Best export solution for windows clients

    Hi,
I need to regularly make files playable & editable on windows machines of all different specs/os versions for various clients.
I've been going to AVI at DV PAL codec, using MPEG Streamclip (cos I like the batch processing), but I've recently started having problems with large files (20 - 30Gb) lately. i hav a test windows box, and Windows Media Player won't open the large files.
I experimented with doing these in Quicktime Pro & in Visual Hub as well. QT Pro gave me nil picture. Visual Hub gave me a 4 Gb file and truncated the rest of the movie.
I've been doing a bit of reading and experts on forums like this keep saying words to the effect "Why are you going to AVI which is obsolete & not supported?"
I have PC based editor friends on Vegas & Premiere, and they say they need AVI.
I could go to WMV as I have Flip for Mac Studio (and Visual hub)..
What I really need is advice on a "lowest common denominator codec/container" combo that plays on Windows media player, so clients can marvel at their home movies, as well as can translate to most lower end PC editing packages, like Windows Movie Maker, Premiere Elements, Ulead, etc., when they decide they want to edit them.
I thought AVI @ DV would be the go..
    Any ideas gentlemen?
    Pete

    Hi kirk,
    ..thanks for your reply.
It's not a Fat32 problem - I am well aware of that limit. I bought Paragon to be able to write to NTFS from my Mac. Anyway, these files are failing to play back on the Mac that made them.. from the desktop..
I have an imac 17" intel that also has Mpeg Streamclip on it and it's working absolutely fine..
So I was wondering if maybe a software update that has been done on my main machine and maybe hasn't been done of the 17".
Or maybe a hardware issue - My main Mac might be dying or something..
I have the Flip for Mac Studio, and also Virtual Hub, so I can make WMVs - the point is would I want to unless a client specifically requested it? (I've had some TV stations ask for WMVs!)
I thought AVI was the best choice for my clients to be able to future edit their files. Even those who do not choose to edit will burn their own DVDs, so I wouldn't think that H.264 would be a good choice for that, even though I personally really like that codec for other purposes.
One reason I was considering WMV for all PC clients is that then they could all open the files,no matter what their hardware/OS version.. and at least edit the files in Windows Movie Maker. Maybe if they want to edit in Premeier or such, and it wants AVIs, then they can download the PC version of Mpeg Streamclip and do it themselves..
    Any ideas?..

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding your question and pointing out the
obvious, but it looks like you are trying to pass an instance of
javax.mail.Session from your server to your client, but since Session is
not serializable it cannot be passed across JVMs. If you are returning
the Session instance for the purpose of allowing your client to use it
to send an email message, you'll want to refactor your code so that the
client instead sends a representation of the email message to the
server, which then uses the Session (and, through it, the appropriate
Transport) to send the message. Please let me know if I've
    misunderstood your question...hope this helps.

  • Developing a solution for a client with SAP

    Hi there,
We're looking to work with a client who is running an SAP based system, and in advance of our next meeting in a month we have pledged to research the SAP platforms and how to interact with them.
The client will be upgrading to SAP 6 in a couple of months so, due to both this and the fact that we have not been selected yet as the final candidate, interacting with their system is not an option.
I have browsed SDN to see if there was a Developer Edition of the platform that we could use to test with, but couldn't find anything.  Could anybody point me in the right direction for either a 'trial version' (though I know this is unlikely!) or even an open test system that we could connect to via VPN to test against... or any other ideas!
    Thanks in advance,

Thank you and whoever you copied this from so so much. Having already sent back one new iPod shuffle because after randomly autofilling from my entire music collection depsite following all the troubleshooting tips it just wouldn't let me do anything else, so I conclude it was broken! I then went out and got another new one from a different source only to find I had exactly the same problem. Ok that's too spooky for it to be a hardware problem, but having wasted two evenings of my life trying to sort it out I thankfully came across this post which works!:-) You are my saviour! Come on Apple put a fix out there for this or at least acknowledge there is a problem - otherwise I'm sure you'll end up loosing sales!

  • Is Sun Ray a suitable solution for system administrators?

My company is deciding if Sun Ray can be a viable solution for system administrators for additional level of security since Sun Ray clients are diskless...less worries about malware or virus...etc.
However, looking through Sun's available thin client machines, there is no selection of laptop form. As you can guess, sysadmins are mostly remote and on the go...it cannot be expected that they are always at their desks or homes to access the thin client machines. I understand the availability of the web client solution...however, have my doubts about that and how much would sysadmins actually embrace it.
On the other hand, the inability of copy & paste as they are currently doing with traditional thick clients can be problematic too. One use case is when they test and build config on their desktops (say notepad), then upload to server hosts...or opposite, when they need to download logs to their machines and investigate...
I am not going into questions about support of OS X and other tools sysadmins usually use...since the support of true remote access will be the biggest hurdle up front.
    Any comments?

Hmmm. Very late to this conversation, but couldn't help to throw some change into the hat.
For casual use of light-weight, non-power hungry applications, running apps via SGD over a Sun Ray (soft client or not) is probably ok. But if you were to try to do this for normal users who need PC-like performance, you'd be delusional. Display information will travel over the network 3 times and you can't take advantage of any of the new, faster graphics capabilities of the newer Sun Ray's when you introduce SGD as the means to access Windows desktop applications.
    To be explicit:
Sun-Ray -> Sun Ray Server uses ALP.
Sun Ray Server -> SGD uses AIP.
SGD Server -> Windows Server uses RDP.
If you deploy this widely, better go buy some stock in Cisco.
I'd use SGD only for remote PC/Mac/Unix users who need to bounce in from the wild west.
I'd use Sun Ray -> Sun Ray Servers + Windows connector (uttsc) for thin client access.

  • HP t5325 thin client audio issues problem

    Dears and my Friends.
I have one problems. Our company was bought  2 type for Thin client 5325 , Thin client 5745 device. This solution by Vmware view 4.6 complete. But Audio streaming error just 5325. Or 5745 normal running audio and other service.
I have been configuration checking done. How to this problem repairing?
    Please help me!!!

By looking at the date of the post, I would assume that you have fixed this, but for the benefit of any future readers this issue is caused by a bad firmware.  The firmware that it shipped with in February, and perhaps what you purchased in June, had bad audio driver issues.  The fix is simply installing the new HP T5325 BIOS and firmware.

  • BW solution for ABAP Reports

    Hi All,
I have a client which implemented SAP R/3 and they have certain standard reports like MB5B, VA05 and certain zreports. Now my task is to propose a BW solution for that client. What will be the steps that needs to be done to accomplish this task. help in this regards will be appreciated and awarded.
    Thanks all.

    Hi Pratibha,
If there are too many reports that need to be reproduced in BW then you can club similar reports or belonging to a particular module. And then built datasources for them.
    If there very few reports,
    1. Find out the program behind the ABAP reports
    2. Build a zprogram for the output and put into an FM.
    3. Create a direct update DSO in BW on the FM
Let me know if it helps or not.

  • SCOM monitor on Thin Clients

    Dear all,
We know that we cannot configure SCOM agent on Thin Clients .  We  would like to know if we can set up a SNMP monitor for Thin Client?
We are able to discover through ICMP , but not through SNMP. We need to achieve monitor the Thin Clients up and down (Availablity ) only?
One more question Via ICMP , can we monitor Thin Clients up and down (Availablity )?
    Sengottuvel

My thought is no, and here's why.
According to this TechNet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212935.aspx, it states:
Windows computers running SNMP are filtered out of discovery results if:
The device type is “Host” and the vendor is “Microsoft”
    The sysDescription field contains “Microsoft”
    The sysOid starts with .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1
    The sysOid contains 1.3.6.1.4.1.199.1.1.3.11
Therefore, I don't think you will be able to use SNMP to monitor the Thin Clients. You could use ICMP (aka PING), and make a simple monitor to PING the system. If there is a response, it is up, otherwise, it is down. But you also have to take network latency
into question, since that might case packets to drop, etc. which might throw a false-positive.
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you.
