Is Elements 8 a true 64 bit Windows 7 product?

Having just two months ago bought the upgrade to Elements 7, I was very unhappy to find that it is not listed by Microsoft as being compatible with Windows 7 in either 32 bit or 64 bit mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?type=Software&s =photoshop&os=64-bit).
Although the same MIcrosoft site and Adobe both say that Elements 8 is compatible with Windows 7, there are a number of web sites that are saying that version 8 still only operates in 32 bit mode even when running on a 64 bit installation of Windows 7. I really do not want to be aying out another $100/£100 for an "upgrade" to find that I will need to pay up yet again in a few months time for a genuine 64 bit version.
There appears to be no categoric statement about this on the Adobe site. Can anyone provide an answer?

A number of people have reported that PSE 8 runs well on Vista 64 and Window 7 64. But it is very possible that Adobe will decline to provide customer support for either configuration. See this FAQ for more information:

I am currently running 64-bit Windows XP on my desktop PC and am interested in upgrading to the latest version of Photoshop Elements. I see in the system requirements for version 10 that it supports Windows XP Service Pack 3. Since Microsoft never released a 64-bit build of Windows XP Service Pack 3 (the last service pack available for 64-bit Windows XP being Service Pack 2), will Photoshop Elements 10 even install, let alone work, on 64-bit Windows XP?

Matthew25187 it should work ok on Windows XP 64-bit. The main issues for 64-bit are around drivers as long as your display driver has been functioning fine you should be ok.

I have been unable to open PSE 6 in Windows 7. It worked on my old computer which used XP Home SP3.

When you try that, make sure you right-click the program icon or Start menu item and select Run As Administrator. Running a program in an account that is a member of Administrators is not the same thing (as it was on XP).
If that doesn't work, you could be encountering one of the many reasons why PSE might crash or freeze, most of which are independent of the version of Windows. 1. Tru64 runs on Alpha processors. Those processors are out of production for quite some years now (Digital was bought by Compaq, Compaq was bought by HP and the processor development was cancelled). The last version of Tru64 is from 2000.

HPs IA64 is the successor and is supported long term.
Technically it's not a problem to use different OS or different databases for DEV, QA and TEST, you can transport as usual.

Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it.

Does Photoshop CS5, Elements 8 and Lightroom 3 support Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition? Any issue installing these products on a new PC when I already have it installed on another PC? I am getting a new PC to replace XP machine I already have.

Yes, Photoshop runs on all editions of Windows 7 as far as I know.
And the Photoshop EULA does give you the option to install and activate the software on a second machine. Once you no longer need the XP system, assuming it's still functional, just deactivate the Adobe software on it and you'll be able to have the same flexibility again in the future.

A side note: Windows Home Premium may do all you need for now, but keep in mind there is a Windows Anytime Upgrade you can buy in the future that will allow you to move up to a higher edition of Windows 7 later if you should feel you need more features.

einen Tag nach meiner Bestellung war das Päckchen schon da, und auf der Verpackung steht extra hervorgehoben, daß Premiere Elements nur mit 64 bit läuft, obwohl ich das vorher bei den Voraussetzungen etwas anders verstanden habe. Wenn das aber so ist, dann ist es für mich leider nicht nutzbar. Im Internet steht folgendes bei dem Artikel:

Ich weiß nur, daß bei mir 64 bit nicht möglich ist, weil dann bestimmte Soft- oder Hardware nicht mehr läuft. Und ich wollte nicht alles neu kaufen.

Elements 10 & 64 bit Windows 7 problem

I installed Elements 10 on both my computers (desktop & laptop – both are 64 bit Windows 7). Yesterday, I turned the desktop on and got a message that there was a problem with starting windows, to run the repair might remove recently installed software, I clicked to do the repair (what else could I do), it took a long time, restarted when it was done and now Photoshop Elements is no longer on the computer.

I use PRE7 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with no problems. It's performance is so stable that I no longer even bother disabling other applications.
