Is enterprise learning a usage type or business package?

Gurus:
We have both ECC6.0 and EP7.0.
We now want to have enterprise learning (version?) . Could you tell us how to install
enterprise learning: by enable the usage type or add busisness package?

You can check the software category list under
SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> Installations and Upgrades
Use 'Search for all Categories' option to search for required software.
Or
SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> Installations and Upgrades -> Entery By Application Group. There click the link which is matching with the product you are expecting and navigate inside it to download.

Standered business package for BI reports with SAP EP Integration

Hi Friends,
I want to know is there any standered business package for integrating BI content with SAP enterprise portal.As i heard the business package come up with predefined iview and which can be customized as per our requirement .
I have worked on Cognos business package in my previous project .but current requirement is i need to dispay the BI Reports strucuture in Portal as folder heirachy with Icons.
I am using BI and EP portal version as 7.0.
please share the package name ASAP.

Selection of usage type for EHP7 SPS02 ERP 6.0 Upgrade

Hi Experts,
We are planning to upgrade our SAP ECC 6.0 to EHP7 SP02 ERP 6.0, But during MOPZ configuration to generate the side effect report, its prompting to choose at least one technical usage type. I am not able to judge which is the right usage type to our environment. I have checked with functional team and they said our business type is Logistics but in the list logistics not found.
Here i have attached this list of components installed in our system and list of usage types which is showing in MOPZ. Please suggest me with correct usage type to proceed.

SAP NW 7.3 - add usage type

SAP Netweaver 7.3 AS java on RHEL 6.
Database db2 LUW 9.7.
How would one add a usage type?
For example I install usage types:
AS Java
NW Product Description
Application Server Java Extentions
Enterprise Portal
EP Core
Then the boss comes by and asks for
Business Process Management
In the past I've used OSS support package download stack application
to generate a stack xml and a list of support packages,
then used JSPM option add usage type.
With SAP NW 7.3, OSS has no stack application.
I haven't seen a "add usage type" within SOLMAN MOPZ...

If you have the Java Stack in your system, you could use
http://<host>:<http_port>/utl/UsageTypesInfo
For example:
http://10.1.1.198:50000/utl/UsageTypesInfo
use the user J2EE_ADMIN, and you will see the information...

ESS Business Package Error: Period type not allowed for profile ESS

Hi,
We are trying to configure the business package for Employee Self Service on Enterprise Portal 6.0. We followed this SDN contribution <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eb036a-0a01-0010-25a3-b2224432640a">ESS doc guide</a>
So far we have successfully deployed the business packages and followed all the configurations that were pointed out in the doc guide. Unfortunately when we try to access the Employee Self-Service portal pages (Overview, Employee Search, etc), we encounter this error:
Critical Error:
Period type not allowed for profile ESS, error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException: Period type not allowed for profile ESS, error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

BOM with usage type "Z"

Hello Guys,
I need to replicate strucutred products between R3 and CRM with usage Type "Z". I was able to replicate the structured types between R3 and CRM with usage Type "5", the standard usage type. For the business concerns I need to use a BOM usage type "Z", so there are any workaround for this?
In the several tests that I have made I could see that it is possible to replicate structured products that belong only a plant or structrured products that not belong a any plant, that belong a group bom, instead in my scenario I need to create a structured products for various plants.
It is that possible?

Having our own LMS, we do not use the Peoplesoft one, but we have a client that I'm pretty sure does. They've referred to it as the Peoplesoft LMS and the Oracle LMS...but pretty sure it's one in the same (as Oracle bought Peoplesoft months ago, right?)
The biggest issue we've heard about it is no Interaction-level tracking support. Now I don't know what version they have but not being able to track interaction data was a big disappointment to them. They hired a contractor to customize and add such functionality and it works, mostly, but has some flaws...and, of course, if they ever update their LMS, likely that customization will be blown away.
Otherwise, the only other complaint I heard was the cost and time of integration with their other systems (whatever those may be - HR and such, I imagine). It wasn't cheap or quick.
I'd like to balance this out but I've not heard any positive comments on it, other than it does integrate with their HR system.

As per note 883948 (Inst.Add.Java Usage Types/Software Units
), The term "software unit" is used as a synonym for "usage type" in the context of SAP ERP, SAP CRM, SAP SRM and SAP SCM.
So basically, usage type is a bundle of programs designed to do something specific. BI usage type would be used to business intelligence, EP usage type is used for portal, etc.
You can find out your current UTs installed on your j2ee stack using
http://<host>:<http_port>/utl/UsageTypesInfo

If the above scenario isnt possible, and I performed an uninstall, and after installing all the usage types again, and recovering the database....will i be able to get my integrated BI/ERP client back with it .. or will i have to perform the setup of BI client again ?

First of all... As per SAP Installation guide additional usage type BI installation is POSSIBLE.

And I guess you have all the primary required components.i.e. ABAP,Java, EP, EPC ...

the system was earlier installed with following usage types:
-as abap, as java, epc, ep (all on same machine)
Now i want to addin BI-Java. During the installation I encounter error at
phase "Install Java Engine" as follows:

Above error is basically because of JDK and not because of BI

As per this... following could be reason.
1. check that iaik_jce_export.jar file is NOT included into the CLASSPATH.
2.Use only one JDK version (or remove the other installed versions from the used environment variables).

I guess It might be difficult to UNINSTALL - may cause some inconsistencies in the current system.
Still - If you really Don't want BI now... Best option could be full restore and recovery.- If you have consistent backup.
But if you want BI - then, since above problem is because of JDK , I think it could be resolved.

Backing up and restoring EP 7.0 (With Usage type DI installed) on HP-UX

Hello,
I know and saw several blogs/forums for Portal/Java WebAS 640 backup and restore and most of them says to backup Oracle and backup filesystems (/usr/sap/SID/* and /sapmnt/SID/* and ofcourse oracle).
WE have never tested our restore on our Portal system which has DI (Dev Infrastructure) installed with it, hence need to know is it just enough to backup the above files systems (and also /home/sidadm and /etc) AND then just restore the oracle backup, and above files systems and system will be up and running with all the DI developments we did?
We are about to apply our first round of Stacks on EP system (NW04s) with DI usage type, hence we want to test our restore if everything goes fine in case we have to do that.
Our env:
EP/DI on HP UX - currently going to stack 15
Oracle on AIX

we tried to just restore the Filesystem and database and without any efforts we were able to startup java.

Is enterprise learning a usage type or business package?
