Is Essbase Server Release 11.1.1.3.0 supported on RHEL5 (5.6) 64-bit OS?

Guys,
I have "Essbase Server Release 11.1.1.3.0 - 64bit" running on "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 6)". The package number for "Essbase Server Release 11.1.1.3.0" for 32-bit and 64-bit is same e.g. "V17389-01 – Essbase Server"
My IS team is planning to upgrade the OS to RHEL5 (5.6) 64-bit.
My question:
Is Essbase Server Release 11.1.1.3.0 supported on RHEL5 (5.6) 64-bit OS?

ESSBASE server - Connect Error 1042010

Hi All,
I am having trouble connecting to Essbase Server on a new install i have done on a windows 2003 32 bit. The Installation went successful, but when i try to start the Essbase server, I am getting below error in essbase.log.

I have checked that the 1423 port is open is in LISTENING status. My essbase.cgf doesnt have NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT entries, but it does have AGENTPORT as 1423.
Also, I am able to login MAXL client as:
MAXL> login
2> admin
3> admin123;
OK/INFO - 1051034 - Logging in user [admin@Native Directory].
OK/INFO - 1241001 - Logged in to Essbase.
I am new to this stuff and appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

HI,
I don't think your observations are conclusive about whether Essbase is configured to run on port 1423. Generally this gets changed by editing the Essbase.cfg, AGENTPORT I think maybe something else is already listening on the port.
Try this:
netstat -ab |find /i "1423"
you will get something like
TCP machine:1423MrBlue:0 LISTENING 14556
The number at the end of the line with LISTENING is the pid (process ID) you want: 14556
then type:
WMIC PROCESS where "Processid='14556'" get Caption,Commandline,Processid
You will get something like:
Caption CommandLine ProcessId
Essbase.exe C:\HYPERION\AS\bin\Essbase.exe 14556
If the WMIC result is Essbase.exe, then essbase is running on that port.
What is might be happening is another process is on the port, so Essbase can't open and listen on it - or the network is routing your request to a different port.

ESSBASE server - Connect Error 1042032:

Hi All,
I am having trouble connecting to Essbase Server on a new install i have done on a windows 2008 64 bit. The Installation went successful and I am able to start the essbase server from command prompt. From the Administration service Console, I can connect to Admin Server.
I am able to add a new Essbase server, but when I try to connect or start it gives a following error:
Error: 1042032: Network Error: Unable to detect ESSBASE server listening on IPv4 or IPv6 network protocols on hostname - [Essbase11G].
I have also ensured that all Hyperion services are running on the Windows services. I did not find any helpful threads on this error and am new to this product.
Appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

How to secure data transmission from Essbase Excel add-in to Essbase Server

I have a requirement to secure the data transmission (encrypt) the data transmission from the Essbase excel add in on the client machine to the Essbase server. I have confirmed with Oracle support that the excel add-in and the API only transmit the data in binary from with no encryption.
I wanted to see if anyone has implemented this before?

Technical support gave you the correct answer, it is
not supported. You might check with Tim Tow

Dodeca or ActiveOlap products support encryption.Glenn is correct in that Oracle doesn't support it. More specifically, the Essbase server itself does not support it.
The other products mentioned in this thread, Smartview, Spreadsheet Services, Dodeca and ActiveOLAP, all can talk to the middle tier via https and are thus encrypted through that portion of the transaction. However, the communication from the middle tier, Analytic Provider Services in the case of System 9, talks to Essbase via TCP/IP unencrypted. If your middle tier/Essbase server connections are not 'sniffable', then essentially they are secured (albeit not encrypted).

I do not think wired will even work with the 6.x runtimes. Your only real option is to put off the move untill you can manage the a6.5 upgrade.

Smartview 11.1.2.2.300 Essbase Server & APS Compatibility

We want to add LRO's to data cells, but we can't get it working. As stated in the thread title, we use Smartview 11.1.2.2.300 and Essbase Server 11.1.2.1.00.
The core of the problem is that the 'Linked objects' button in the Essbase-ribbon in Excel can't be clicked somehow. Every function of Smartview is working fine, just the Linked Objects function doesn't work. Do we have to enable this function on the Essbase Server-side, or can we fix this problem in another way?

I've discovered that the other functions of the latest Smartview release also don't work. Our guess is that Essbase Server and APS also need to be updated. The question is: to which version? Which patches should be applied, does anybody know that?

Essbase server not listed in Shared Services

Hello,
Installed and configured 11.1.2.3 successfully on Windows Server 2008R2.(Essbase, Planning and WebAnalysis)
In Shared Services it is showing Shared Services, Studio and Reporting only.
Its not showing Essbase. I just gone through essbase log and deleted essbase.sec file and again configured but no use, still its not showing. after that restarted the system also.
I am able to login to EAS console, i can create users in essbase but not in EAS. create and disply user options are greyed out.
Can you please let me know how to resolve this issue?

Essbase server error

Hi All,
Essbase server was up and running fine until yesterday. Not sure what changed, but once we start the server either from opmn server or through essbase.exe by going to the path...below message is thrown.

Essbase server is not starting...

Hi,
I'm not able to login to Essbase server. Its already started in windows service. Initially it used to blink and disappears. I have changed the ARBORPATH environment variable to c:\hyperion\analyticservices.
Now when I type essbase in command prompt, its giving

Could anyone please help me in this regard....

Starting Essbase Server

Dear all,
I finished Foundation Services, Essbase and Planning installation and started the applications using start.bat|sh. When I run the EPM System Diagnostic, i had the following error messages:
FAILED EAS: Essbase Server Validating Essbase Server connection to DC-HypT01
Error: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1054067): Internal error
Recommended Action: Check Essbase Server is started.
FAILED ESS: Essbase Studio Server Validating Essbase Studio Server connection
Error: Network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
Recommended Action: Start application
I started Essbase Server and Studio manually, But i still got the same error.
What could be the reason?

Essbase global application does not exist at Shared Services

EAS: I keep losing my Essbase Server Regestrations

More of an annoyance but I keep losing my Essbase server registrations in EAS randomly. On occasion when I log into EAS, the essbase servers I have added dissappear on me forcing me to add them back in. I can't seem to reproduce, just seems random. I've tried using EAS locally installed and the web app and they both have the same behavior. On 11.1.2.1 currently, I remember this ever being an issue in 9.3.x

ISA (Microsoft firewall) blocks Essbase Server comm.

Has anyone any experience with a locally (laptop) installed ISA firewall and Essbase Server ?I my case the ISA firewall stops all connection between the application and the Essbase server making the server crash.The firewall has only been set up to redirect communication on the external port to a proxy server, but when off-line it blocks Essbase, even though it is internally communication on port 1433 and 32768++.RegardsMartin

Running maxl on client machine to connect to remote essbase server

Hi All,
I am able to connect to essbase on a client machine by using the link:
http://ts119licalnn.ac.local:9724/easconsole
However, when I try to log in via MAXL on the client machine, I get the following error...

Is the host name in maxl the same name as the name in the easconsole link? do i need to set up anything (tnsnames.ora) for maxl to work?

The essbase server name is ts119licalnn, it is shown under essbase servers in EAS.
By not using the default Essbase node 'EssbaseCluster-1', it has revealed the port number EAS uses to connect to essbase, in this instance, 1443.
The problem was that I did not have the correct port number, is there an easier way of finding the correct port number?
