Is Final Cut Pro 3 compatible with OSX 10.6?

Thanks. Do I need to download an upgrade? It won't open on my 10.6 machine....

The upgrade is not available is a download. You have to purchase it from Apple.

Is final cut pro 6 compatible with snow leopard? I don't want to upgrade the OS if I lose FCP.

DO NOT MAKE AN IRREVERSIBLE DECISION.   You should clone your startup drive so you can quickly return your system to it's previous state if there's a problem.  Although Nick is always right, do you really want to trust him (or me for that matter).

Is Final Cut Pro 3 compatible with MAC OS 10.4?

    re:FCP3
Some people purchase FCP3 and then the upgrade to FCP5. It is less expensive than purchasing FCP5 as a new install. You may be able to find a copy of FCP4.5HD out there as well for a low price.
That being said, while some use FCP3 (or FCP4.5) with 10.4, 10.4.x and QT7.x. will be happiest with FCP5.
    re: burning.
Once the file is exported as a quicktime DV file, iMovie does not care about the origin. It should work just fine. DVDSP gives you much more control and greater flexability in setting up menus, looks, operation etc, but is not required.
    Good luck.

  • Installation of Final Cut Pro Version 2013 with OSX 10.7.5

In 2013 I bought Final Cut Pro for my MacBook (version 2007 with OSX 10.7.5). Meanwhile I had to reinstall the hard drive and set-up the MacBook again. As there is now only the latest version available in the AppStore, I cannot install this version 10.1.4 as it is not compatible with my 10.7.5. OSX. Is there any chance to get the version 2013 (June) to install it again? Thanks for support!

Also take a look at this doc.
You could install a more recent OS on a separate drive or partition and run a dual boot system.

  • Can you upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with upgrade?

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with $699 upgrade?
I purchased Final Cut Pro 2 years back and then purchased the Final Cut Pro 3 upgrade. I have not used it in years, but now I want to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2. Is this possible by just purchasing the upgrade?

Apple's web page has the requirements:
    http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjects/BizCustom?qprm=78313&productLearnMo re=MA886Z/A
The $699.00 upgrade version requires a valid serial number from a commercial version of Final Cut Studio, Production Suite, or Final Cut Pro 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Academic and not-for-resale versions are not eligible for this upgrade.

  • Will the new final cut pro x work with my Final cut pro version 6.0.6 data

will the new final cut pro x work with my Final cut pro version 6.0.6 data

    Thanks Tom.
So I will need  upgrade to FCP 7 first, then convert to an XML file in 6.0.6, then convert to another file that FCP X can read? I have a lot of half done projects that need finishing. Is this process very complex and time consuming?
Maybe I should be approaching this from a different angle. The reason I am asking is that I now need to upgrade to a new Mac book pro and have been told that I cant run final cut pro 6.0.6 on the new models using maverick. Is this true?

  • Will Final Cut Pro X work with Yosemite

Will Final Cut Pro X work with Yosemite?

me too version 10.8. It would have been nice to know yosemite was going to crap out my primary video editing software! I use this for my video editing for my business video production and it would have been nice to know ahead of time or here's a crazy idea how about the software developers who are making millions off final cut pro sales release a fix BEFORE apple roles out yosemite for free. I don't have time to chase down every blog in the world to see issues etc. The reason I bought a mac is I just need it to work so I can work on my business.

  • HT5148 Final Cut Pro X compatible?

Final Cut Pro X compatible? All that my "About This Mac" gfx info tells me is this: Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
    Will that work?

Thanks, Tom. Appreciate that clue, but I don't want to spend $300 on a program that won't run. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro - pretty new. All the other parameters needed for Final Cut seem to be on board, so I guess I'm okay. But I'm not risking the money. I suppose I'll have to run the free trial version to know for sure. Was hoping to take advantage of potential Cyber Monday deals. Guess not.

  • Because of the new final cut pro x update with photoshop capability, does that mean 3d objects are now compatible with final cut pro x

Does Final Cut Pro X now support 3d models or objects because of the update with photshop capability?

When you import a 3D model in Photoshop, it is imported as a Layer (smart object). And, yes, you can edit 3D objects in Photoshop and import them into FCPX—AS a photohop image (you cannot manipulate the 3D nature of the object in FCPX.) You can however create an animation in PS, convert to layers from frames and import that into fcpx. You can then edit the compound clip created to make use of those "animated" layer/frames. (I'm not sure how far I'd "push it" though...fwiw, at that point, it might be better to export the animation from PS and import the MOV into FCPX.)
You can also make edits in PS after the psd is imported and fcpx will do live updates (after saving the psd file, of course.) 3D objects in PS are a special kind of Smart Object, and Smart Objects will translate to Motion and FCPX (they will be rasterized as a single layer, though.)

  • Final cut pro 5.0 with intel processor

Hello there, I have an offer to purchase final cut pro 5.0 and was wondering if it is compatible with my intel processor imac w/ snow leopard? I have searched the forum, but haven't found this specific question answered. Can it be made to work with an upgrade and if so, which specific one?
    thanks for all your help,
    Paul

    Apple trivia....
Mxxxx are the numbers used when Stores/resellers order Apple products. Not to be confused with model numbers or model identifiers.
Example: the current Mac Pro has the order # MC250 (4 Core) and MC561 (8 Core)
Model # for both is A1289, model ID is MacPro 5,1.
Order numbers (Mxxxx) and model numbers (Axxxx) never get repeated. Each revision or version is always unique. ID # might be continued across product refreshes of hardware but rarely over more than two generations.
The A suffix at the end of an order number is the country code for USA (I think). It differentiates the local keyboard layout on a computer or in the case of software, the accompanying documentation.
Z is used for international products. My Pro has a D suffix because it was bought in Germany.
    So now you know!

  • Final cut pro not working with Yosemite

I yesterday installed Yosemite and the previous version of Final Cut Pro does not work with it.  When I try to install the latest version of Final Cut Pro from the purchased tab in the app store, I get the message:  "Final Cut can't be installed on this computer because it requires at least 4 GB of memory".  When I go to the storage tab in "About This Mac", it shows that I have 154.49 GB free of 319.21 GB.  Can someone help?  Many thanks.

It's a 2007 iMac with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.  I had been using Final Cut Pro without any problems right until I upgraded to Yosemite.  I'm hoping that upgrading to Yosemite doesn't mean I can't continue using Final Cut Pro - that would be extremely frustrating.

  • Final Cut Pro 5, problems with switching between HDV and DV

I recorded a movie in HDV 1080i50 and captured it into Final Cut Pro 5. I think the capture was done correctly (but the video was captured by another person), with Easy Setup on HDV 1080i50 and the camera set on HDV 1080i.
The sequence in which I edited the movie had its settings on DV PAl which was necesary for me to export the video for DVD. Of course I had to render the clips many times in the DV mode. Later I wanted to export the movie to tape in the original HDV format so I changed the sequence settings to HDV 1080i50.
There I encountered a problem. The frame became very small while the aspect ratio was huge (1920x1080) and it didn´t matter though I copied the clips to a new sequence (with its settings on HDV).
Does anybody know why this occurres? Is it possible that the frame size distorts if I change the sequence settings from HDV to DV and again to HDV? Because I have also tried to put the original audio/video files into a new HDV sequence and there the frames dimensions are correct.

I think your workflow is completely wrong.
Edit in whatever codec the footage is, then export via
    Compressor > Advanced Format Conversion
    It's that simple.
You can't just change your sequence settings to whatever you want the footage to be.
