Is fine detail automatic selection available in Elements?

I don't use 99.9% of Photoshop, so am thinking about getting the newest version of Elements instead of upgrading to the newest Photoshop this time.  I've just spent an hour reading the site, trying to find out whether Elements has a selection tool that will isolate fine details (think: hair blowing in wind) automatically...but no luck.
I do 3D computer art and often pose and render a figure against a plain background in Poser, then select and extract it to place it into a background rendered in Vue d'Esprit or into a photograph.  If Elements can do that to a fine level of detail, automatically, I'll get it and avoid paying a lot of money for Photoshop features that I never, ever use.  Any info on the fine-ness of the selection tools in Elements would be appreciated, since the articles don't seem to address that aspect at all.
Patricia

Selection of whisps of hair is very tedious in Elements, in my experience. It can be done under high magnification. Certainly not "automatic."
Under certain circumstances it is easier to remove the background, leaving just the foreground to deal with.
Why not download the trial version of the program to see if it meets your needs?

  • Polymorphic units break automatic selection of polymorphic vi

I have a polymorphic vi that can have a single DBL input, or a array of DBL.  Normally, that works fine.
Also, when I give those inputsa unit, for example 'km' it works as expected.
However, when I give a polymorphic unit '$1'  then the automatic selection of the polymorphic vi doesn't work anymore. I get a broken wire.
The vi still works.  When I manually change 'select type'  from automatic to the array instance, it works again.
I wonder if this behaviour is a bug or a design decision?    I understand that adding polymorphic units make the automatic selection more difficult...
I added a zip with a simple example:  polymorphic vi & instances, plus a vi that uses it.
    Attachments:
polymorphic vi and unit.zip ‏20 KB

I see I wasn't clear about this.   I'll try to explain.
The polymorphic vi isn't broken.  But the automatic selection of the correct instance of the polymorphic vi is broken.    If you right-click on the polymorphic vi in the example program, and change 'Select Type'  to ' Automatic'  you get broken wires.   You must select the instance manually to run the program.
Normally, Labview will recognize the difference between a single element and an array, and will automatically select the array instance instead of the single element instance.  So you don't need to select the correct instance manually.
Try to the following:  Edit the 'array element'  vi, and remove the units.  Save 'array element' and 'polymorphic element'.   Also remove the units of the input array in 'use polymorphic vi'.
If you now set 'Select Type' to 'Automatic', you don't get broken wires.  Labview automatically recognizes that it should use the array instances, and not the single element instance of the polymorphic vi.
(I see where the confusion comes from...   I saved the example program with the correct manual selection.  Change the selection to automatic, and you'll get the broken wires immediately.)

You can also use refine edge once you've selected the object, which does a fine job, but is very fiddly to learn to use.

  • When will Hub automatically select fewer than 2500 segments for tuning and/or testing?

I have two systems (FR/IT) with 64K+ total segments uploaded.
When I specify "Auto" for tuning and testing, the system only extracts 500 (or some other number < 2500) tuning and testing segments from the TMX files that I uploaded. On visual inspection of the subsequently downloaded training, tuning,
and test corpora, I see nothing unusual:  alignment is OK, repeated and partial segments are not very frequent, etc.
Similar content extracted in the same way from the same WorldServer db for other languages (PE, ES, NL, ID) works fine.
When will Hub automatically select fewer than 2500 segments for tuning and/or testing?
    Thanks!

    Hi Mike,
Here is how auto-selection of Testing and Tuning data works in the Hub.
    1. If a segment in tuning data is identical to a segment in training data, the segment is removed from training data.
    2. If a segment in tuning data is identical to a segment in testing data, the segment is removed from testing data.
    3. If a segment in tuning data and testing data is identical to a segment in training data, the segment is removed from training and testing data.
    4. If a segment in testing data is identical to a segment in training data, the segment is removed from training data.
Hub auto selects 2500 sentences and the data under goes above adjustments. As a result you will see fewer than 2500 sentences.

  • Automatically Selecting Values in Multiple Values Dropdown Parameters

    Hi,
Is it possible to have parameter values automatically selected in a dropdown in an SSRS report?  I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition.  Basically what I have in mind is this:  The user wants to save his parameter selections in a
table that will be available as a dropdown parameter of a report, call it
ParamUserSelection.  ParamUserSelection is the first parameter of the report and other parameters depend on it.
We have two other parameters called ParamCountry and
ParamState.  These are dropdown text parameters that allow multiple values to be selected.  Populating the list is not a problem as I use a standard cascading parameter technique.  What I'm trying to do is the following:
The user selects a value from ParamUserSelection, call it Selection1.  Selection1 is stored in a table and has all the values that should be selected in ParamCountry and ParamState.  In other words, it should tell these two subsequent parameters,
what values should be selected in their respective dropdowns.  For example if the user selects Selection1 from ParamUserSelection, it reads the values in the database table and if it finds US and Canada for countries and CA, NY, ON for states, ParamCountry
should be populated with all the countries available in the database but should have ONLY US and Canada as selected values and ParamState should be populated with all the states in the database but should have ONLY CA, NY and ON as selected values.
If then I click on selection 2 and it has ParamCountry = US, ParamState = TX,OH in its database then again all countries and states should be in the dropdown but only US for ParamCountry and TX,OH for ParamState should be selected.
Is this possible with SSRS?  I've tried using the Default Values tab with a dataset that returns all the selected values under Report Parameters Properties but this only works for the first time that I select ParamUserSelection.  It appears that
if I change the value of ParamUserSelection again, the default values are not invoked.
If this is possible, please tell me how to do this as I have been struggling for a day with it.

    Hi Comedian,
According to your description, you have a report with three parameters (ParamUserSelection, ParamCountry, ParamState). The available value lists of ParamCountry and ParamState are based on the selection of a value for ParamUserSelection. Now you want to
show all countries and states in their parameter dropdown list when selecting a user selection instead of only showing the cascading values. Right?
In Reporting Service, when we want a parameter to show the cascading values, we only need to set the corresponding dataset and field for Default Values in this parameter. In this scenario, if we want to show all countries and states in their dropdown list,
we just need to set another dataset for Available Values in those parameters so they can display all countries and states. We have tested your case in our local environment. Since you have done with the cascading parameters, we just give some part of steps
    and screenshots for your reference:
We created two tables (dbo.Selection, dbo.states) based on your information.
Create one more dataset (named dataset2) in your report, put text below into your query:
    select distinct Country from states
Create another dataset (named dataset3), put text below into your query:
    select distinct State from states
Go to your ParamCountry, in Available Values, select dataset2 and Country for dataset and field.
Go to your ParamState, in Available Values, select dataset3 and State for dataset and field.
Save and preview. It looks like below:

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

We want to configure automatic determination of WBS element in MIGO_GI from Reservation and the WBS field should be disabled for editing while doing Goods Issue. Please suggest on the required configurations.

    I'm totally agree with Pete.
This info can accelerate search and development
IQSM0007 Customer exit for goods movements
This customer exit is used to transfer the document data for a goods movement into serial number management. This involves:
The complete goods document (transfer table S7_TAB_MSEG, structure MSEG),
The purchase order history (transfer table S7_TAB_EKBE, structure EKBE).
The customer exit is called as soon as the document is saved. This means that at this moment in time the document data can be placed in the global memory of function group XQSM, where it is then available when the serial numbers in the document are saved immediately afterwards.
Access to the document data (placed in the global memory of IE01) is performed in customer exit EXIT_SAPLIE01_005, which can be activated using customer exit IQSM0005.
Certain document data can now be copied into the master data of the serial numbers.
    Example
You want to copy the goods recipient from the material document and the value from the purchase order history into the serial number.
    Goods movement
You activate the customer exit EXIT_SAPLIE01_007 so that you can prepare the required information from the goods document and the purchase order history. You can read additional data (for example, from the purchase order) where necessary.
    Posting
You activate the customer exit EXIT_SAPLIE01_005. The data prepared with user exit EXIT_SAPLIE01_007 is available here (for example, goods recipient or purchase order value). This data can be copied into the master data of the serial numbers.

  • E66 automatically 'selects' written text in forms,...

    Dear all,
My E66 phone is really annoying me. If someone here has no proper solution for this problem, I think it's a problem with my phone only.
The problem is that, wherever I write, especially when I fill in 'forms', after a while it automatically turns in a mode where I only can select the written text. At that moment I can't just go to the next place to fill in or leave it just like that or save the changes I made. I have to close the whole program or option I am using.
This happens with for example Nokia Maps by filling in the search options (Place, Address, etc.) and by adding an entry to my calendar. Sometimes I'm already stuck after writing the event-title. The most annoying is getting stuck after writing an SMS. I can't properly delete parts of my message anymore because when I go back with the key it automatically selects the text.
Has anyone else this same problem? I have the newest firmware, and the problem still exists.
If there is a solution I really would like to know it. I have already reset my whole phone once and that even didn't help out.
    Greetings Kevin

I had the same problem on both E51 and E66 after I installed the Garmin GPS Navigator... I unistalled that and everything now works fine.

  • Adobe says the Magic Extractor Tool is not available in Elements 13 for 64 bit systems. Is it available on 32 bit? Is there indeed a 32 bit version?

Adobe says the Magic Extractor Tool is not available in Elements 13 for 64 bit systems. Is it available on 32 bit? Is there indeed a 32 bit version? Is this tool available on earlier Element versions?

The magic extractor disappeared after PSE11. It's recommended that you use the quick selection tool together with refine edge, if necessary.
From the refine edge dialog you can output your cut-out to a new layer or layer mask.

  • Automatic selection of products in a plant but differant storage locations

    Hi Gurus
Here is a requierment from our client that is they maintain differant storage locations based on differant prices however they want automatic selection of products during sales order entry, based on manufacturing date like FIFO comparing differant storage locations with in a plant. if you have come across these scenario and other solutions relate to this
    please share your experiance
    with regards
    Baalakrushnan.da

    hello, friend.
yes, we have come across this.  first, your material should be batch managed specifying FIFO.  then, inventory/availability search should be plant level instead of storage location level.
i will try to get back to you with the specifics.  but in the meantime, you could probably get your MM consultant to help you with this.
    regards.

  • Automatic selection of similar video sequences

Does anyone know of a way to automatically select similar sequences within a piece of source video? The video source I am trying to edit has a large number of static graphic elements inserted between live action sequences but these differ in length and are not evenly distributed - making it laborious to manually select them. I was hoping there might be a way of selecting a frame as 'source' and then use a 'select similar' function as included in Photoshop? Any help saving me from hours of manual boredom would be very gratefully received!!

OK, now I think I'm getting a picture. You're trying to find these graphic sequences so you can replace them or something like that.
One thing that might be helpful is to put the QT in a sequence and turn on thumbnails in - do they call it "slideshow"? - mode. This shows you a bunch of still pictures across the width of the timeline.
If you set the timeline tracks to display small, and then zoom in so you know there's a still every 3 seconds or whatever, you can then scroll through the timeline and put a marker everywhere you see the "similar" pattern. It should be pretty easy.
To go farther down this alley... if the graphic isn't easy enough to identify that way, go with your chroma key idea. Key the whole sequence so that some color that is prevalent in the graphic turns garish green, blaze orange, or whatever it takes to stand out more from the rest of the material. Then go through and place your markers, and get rid of the chroma key.

  • ADF master-detail master selection not updating detail tables properly

    Hi All,
    I am using JDev version : 11.1.2.0.0
I created new Fusion Web Application Module. In that module I created a master-detail data model and added them to a page fragment with a query panel. When I run it as a separate module, It works perfectly and Master selection correctly updates detail tables.
But when I integrate that module to another Fusion Application(Add application jar file to the Master Application libraries), Master-details master selection not updating detail tables properly. This problem occurred sequentially.
    The problem is that.
After the page load, first selection of the Master Table works correctly and detail tables update correctly.
But second selection doesn't work, means detail table doesn't get update according to the Master table.
And again in the third selection works correctly.
This happens in a sequential manner. I monitor the behavior using Firebug. Observations are as follows,
When running correctly, Response of the Post Definition is

I could not figure out what went wrong when integrating to another module.
Can you please help me to rectify this problem.
    Thanks

    Hi,
sound to be an implementation specific issue that is hard to comment on without knowing how to reproduce it. If you have a rerooducible test case based on the Oracle HR schema using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, zip it up, rename the "zip "extension to "unzip" and sent it to the mail address you find in my OTN profile. If you don't have that test case, explain how this can be reproduced

  • Why does my cursor not automatically select the entire word when I try to select text by starting/ending in the middle of a word?

In any other browser I've used (or word processor, for that matter) when I select text using my mouse cursor, if I start and/or end in the middle of a word, it automatically selects the whole word when I'm selecting more than one word. But for some reason this is not happening in Firefox. If I try to select say 3 words, and I start in the middle of the first word and end in the middle of the last word, it will only select those parts, not all 3 words entirely.

Firefox allows to select part of a word. You can select a word with a double click and use Shift + left click to set the end of the selection, so you need to click at the end of the last word instead of in it.

  • How do I get my Macbook Pro to automatically select the location when connecting to the wireless network?

Each time when I want to connect to a different network I have to manually select the location and it's becoming very annoying. How do I get it to automatically select the location?

Check the following settings on your MacBook
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
Click on AirPort on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
If you have a "favorite" network, make sure it is first in the connection list. If it's not, drag it there
Make sure that there is a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined"
No other boxes should be checked
    Click OK, then click Apply

  • Automatic Selection for Combination Order Creation

    Hi
We are working with MTO scenario where production orders are created against sales order. Production orders will be combined for common items from two sales orders. We have activated the SAP MILL Products DIMP, for this functionality.
But in MILL_OC, we need to manually input the production order numbers, which we want to combine. Our client's requirement is that the system should select the production orders of common items and combine them automatically (Input will be only 2 Sale order numbers)
As per below mentioned link, it is possible using a function module MILL_OC_ORDER_MERGE.
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/EN/d2/c79af5651811d385db0000e8200b4c/frameset.htm
What we are not able to understand is the input required for this FM. Can anyone help?
If not this, is there any other way, to achieve, automatic selection & combination of common item production orders?

    Hi
We have resolved this problem by creating a BDC.

  • Is there an instruction sheet detailing how to install Photoshop Elements 13 (from a DVD disk), on a Windows 8.1 computer, and if so, where do I find it

Is there an instruction sheet detailing how to install Photoshop Elements 13 (from a DVD disk), on a Windows 8.1 computer, and if so, where do I find it?

Googled for an instruction sheet.  Got the following.
    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/getting-started/install-pse.html
    and
    https;//helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-installation-errors.html
(Don't know why the second one didn't turn into a link, that's the url that printed out at the bottom of the page)
In any case it doesn't matter.  I returned it to the store where I bought it.
Rule #1; Don't use a product if the people who produce that product (software, hardware, etc.) don't properly support it.
User forums and\or chat lines, are useful and may help.  But!  They do not constitute proper support (not for installation purposes anyway).
