Is Firefox 4 b not compatible with Microsoft Windows Live?

Microsoft Windows Live functions, (Hotmail, agenda etc...) do not work properly in Firefox 4b. Firefox gets crazy and keeps polling. Loosing control and navigation from mailbox and content does not open after clicking.
So far no resolutions found here.
Is there a cure?

Be Warned - Mavericks is not compatible with Microsoft Office 365!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I upgraded to Mavericks on 4 seperate computers, an 2 iMacs, MBPro and an MBAir and ALL four no longer connect to Microsoft Office 365 email accounts either with Office 2011 or the built in Mac apps.  Apple support says "Microsoft knew for a year that Mavericks was coming out and it their job to make it compatible".  I repsonded that their own Apps like Mail, Contacts and Calendar don't work either and they attempted to trouble shoot those apps only to no avail after 4 hours and a Mavericks reinstall.  I have also tried an Office reinstall.
Right now I am no where, stuck between two companies who say it's the other guys fault......

    Me again:
A colleagues more formal description of the problem:
We have had a major problem with people working directly off of the afp reshares with MS Word.
Word creates "Word Work Files" and usually is able to store them in either "Share/Temporary Items/uid/TemporaryItems/" or "Share/.TemporaryItems/folders.uid/TemporaryItems" as long as permissions are correct.
This works under 10.5.7 seed release 9J39 with direct attached storage, but with the Xsan reshared the word work files appear in the same folder as the opened document even though the permission for temporary items are correct.
This causes a number of issues, one being that if one user has a document open and another clears out the word work file then the open document cannot be saved.
Another issue that we have seen is where the word work file is created and then the original document disappears (although I think this may be another user housekeeping the word work files again).
We have tried to persuade users to work on local copies of the documents instead, but old habits die hard...

  • Will Apple Pages support a third-party font that is not compatible with Microsoft Word?

Will Apple Pages support a third-party font that is not compatible with Microsoft Word?  I do not want to purchase Pages unless I can use it for this one very specific purpose.  How can I determine the correct answer before purchase?
Many thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Hmmm ... I see the font in my Font Book and in Suitcase Fusion, but it doesn't appear on the list of fonts in either Word for Mac or Text Edit, no matter what I tried.  I attempted quitting all applications, cleaning the cache using Suitcase Fusion, and rebooting the computer, but no dice.
You think this is an installation or configuration problem my local Apple store could help fix ... not an underlying incompatibility?  If so, I will take it in.
Please know I sincerely appreciate the help.  I'm at my rope's end on a project this evening and truly grateful for the reinforcement.  Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities

  • Latest version of firefox program is not compatible with windows 7

After I updated the latest version of mozilla firefox in my laptop which is a windows 7 program,it doesn't work anymore. Every time I open the firefox, the screen goes black and I can't see anything on the screen but black. And when I troubleshoot and fix the problem, it says that "COLOR SCHEMES IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 7". Program compatibility is the 1.5 version or 1.0. How to fix this one? I uninstalled and already installed a new one but still to no avail the problem is still the same. Should I install the older version? Where to download the older version? It seems that in mozilla firefox website, only the latest version or the 3.0 version is available.

hello Gracerilla, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • I am a student and Firefox 4 is not compatible with TestGen, now I have a real problem. I can't get Firefox 3 to come back

I am enrolled in Intermediate Algebra with Pearson My Math Lab and they use TestGen to take quizzes and test. Firefox 3 was compatible with this program. Over the weekend I download Firefox 4 and lost access to my tests and quizzes. Their Tech Support just said that Firefox 4 is not compatible and to download Firefox 3 once again. I did this, but I can not bring it back up; Firefox 4 only comes up.

To revert to the previous secure version, please do the following.
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop.
EDIT: just noticed you have a MAC, so follow removal instructions here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox

  • Firefox 3.6 not compatible with home directories stored on AFP file server

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have discovered, at least in my situation, that Firefox 3.6 does not work with user home directories stored on AFP file servers.
My network consists of PPC 10.411 clients and a Mac OS X 10.62 server. User home directories are stored on the server, the user is logged into a "Golden Triangle" LDAP domain, where the Mac clients bind to a OSX Server and the OSX Server is a member of the Active Directory domain.
Worked perfectly fine on Firefox 3.57, now in 3.6 it will either not launch, will freeze with the beachball or will only show the Firefox window and not the main web browser.
This has happened before with a 3.0x update from a few months ago. I have posted a bug in the Bugzilla database and have outlined the bug on my personal MacPCSMB blog.

There is an update on the FireFox hosted AFP issue that I have uncovered:
When users are rolled back with Firefox 3.57 (by installing FF 3.57 over 43.6) the following issue occurs:
You launch Firefox and you get an error that states "XML scripting is not working; Firefox cannot open the window".
This basically means that the plug-ins for Firefox 3.6 are still in the user's Firefox profile directory. These new plug-ins are not compatible with Firefox 3.57. You will have to manually go into the user's home directory and remove their profile folder and extract a specific file. The issue is that the user will have to be able to have access to their bookmarks. If you delete the profile folder their bookmarks are gone, though that is simpler to do.
It looks like Mozilla significantly changed the profile folder setup in FF 3.6, so a profile rollback or deletion is necessary.
If you DO NOT have a good backup:
To solve this issue do the following. This guide assumes you have the users home directory stored on an AFP server and you have open directory logins:
    1. The Firefox profile is located here according to Mozilla: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles . The Mac OS X Directory is located at /~username/library/application support/Firefox.
    2. Find and COPY the places.sqlite file. This is the Firefox bookmarks and history database. This file is very important to back up.
    3. Now take the user's Firefox profile and TRASH it.
    4. Now either have the user launch Firefox with their Open Directory login, or change their password and login yourself. Open Firefox and then after it full loads quit the program. Copy the places.sqlite file back into the Firefox profile folder. You will have to do this manually for every user unless if you make an AppleScript to take care of this.
    5. The program will now work again.
The second option is to go into Retrospect or Time Machine (or whatever backup solution you use) and restore the user's profile direct to a point in time before Firefox was updated to 3.6 and then subsequently reverted back to 3.57. How to use backup software is way beyond the scope of this blog posting.
    Thanks

  • If Firefox 5 is not compatible with Avast... what am I supossed to do? Choose one of the two or what?

With Firefox 5 freshly installed I learn it's not compatible with Avast! What do I do now? Do I choose '''''one of the two''''' or what?

    Hi Amarillo,
There are a few different toolbars and plugins which are not yet compatible with Firefox 5 including Google, avast and AVG ([http://www.canadiancontent.net/commtr/firefox-rather-soon-released_1093.html source]). I bet it's going to take a day or two for updates to be released.

  • Am trying to downloand IE Tab for IMac, have already downloaded firefox, says is not compatible with current platform, can you adivse?

I am trying to download IE Tab for IMac, I have already downloaded Firefox, and when I try to download IE Tab, it tells me it is not compatible with my current platform, can you please advise?
    Thanks so much!

Where are you seeing that IE Tab for IMac even exists?
The IE Tab extension for Windows versions of Firefox doesn't ''add'' IE to Firefox, it uses the version of IE that is already installed. IE isn't made for Mac any longer, so there's no way that a version of IE Tab can be made for Mac platforms.

  • I need Firefox 5 but can't find that download anywhere. Firefox 6 is not compatible with the CMS for our church website.

Our online church management software is compatible with Firefox 5 but not Firefox 6. I just got a new laptop and downloaded Firefox 6. When I found out it didn't work with 6 I found a download for 3.6. Now I'm getting messages from other sites (Quickbooks online) that they won't support 3.6 much longer and I need to upgrade to Firefox 5 or higher. So I have to go up to 5 but below 6. so getting a copy of Firefox 5 is my only option. Please send me a link to download Firefox 5.

There are parts of the CMS that don't work with Firefox 6. They do in IE and Chrome but I much prefer Firefox. Until they get their CMS updated to work with version 6, I need to go back to 5. And I can't undo the upgrade because I have a new laptop and the only options to load were Firefox 6 or Firefox 3.6

  • Itunes 9.1 not compatible with microsoft office 2010

after installing ms office 2010 i notice itunes 9.1 will not sync the outlook info to any of my idevices
    it returns this error message:
either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. please run microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client.
funny thing is, its already the default mail client.

Yesterday Apple confirmed that the iPhone 3gs will not sync with Outlook 2010 Beta 64 bit. Both the Genius Bar and Apple Care confirmed this after I took my new computer to the Bar. One even said this would not be fixed until the retail release of 2010, not just the enterprise release. This makes the iPhone just about useless for me. The 32 bit did work well before I updated with new hardware and the 64 bit version of 2010. I hope it is fixed very soon. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed.

  • Latest quicktime update not compatible with Serato Scratch Live program

I'm a DJ/VJ that uses the serato program which uses quicktime to run the videos. The latest update with quicktime has totally screwed up the video program and is no longer compatible with it. I can't open itunes anymore and have to use an older version of quicktime. Anything older than 7.5 works... will there be an update to fix this issue???

You could send a bug report through to Apple. (We're a user-to-user troubleshooting forum, so there's no guarantee that someone from Apple will see your post here.) The "Technical comments" feedback type on the QuickTime feedback form would probably do the trick:

  • HT203687 Will iCloud Control Panel 2.1 work with Microsoft Windows Live Mail?

I am trying to have iCloud sync Contacts from my PC (from Windows Live Mail).  When I download iCloud Control Panel 2.1 if does not look any different than version 2.0. (The top option for Mail,Contacts, Calendars and Tasks still directs me to iCloud.com).

I didn't try creating a new user profile. Not sure I completely understand what you're suggesting. I dont't want a new/different profile. I just want to be able to install the update.

  • Firefox 3.6 not compatible with RealPlayerSP?

Recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.6 (told of vulnerabilities in previous versions). RealPlayer SP was previously installed but seemed not recognized by FF after FF upgrade. Noticed the download bar was gone from videos as well as any ability to download. Tried to troubleshoot in Mozilla and RealPlayer and noticed this on RealPlayer website:
The supported web browsers for Download This Video are:
    * Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8
    * Firefox 2, 3, and 3.5
    * Google Chrome
    * Macintosh: Safari and Firefox (Mac users, click here)
This problem lies with RealPlayer or with Mozilla? If the problem lies with RealPlayer (I'm thinking it is) can I install an older version of FF that is compatible -and safe-? If so which one is it?

Real is always, it seems, late in releasing updates for new browser updates. They are given the same opportunity during the Firefox pre-release testing as other developers to be sure that their products will work with new Firefox releases.
But, alas, always the same problem!
