Is Firefox 4 RC compatible with Norton 360 5.0? Can I safetly use Firefox 4 RC right now?
Will my Norton 360 properly protect me using Firefox 4 RC?
FireFox 4 appears to be supported now (as of April 6) with Norton 360 5.0 PLUS A HOTFIX. See <http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US> for details.
That link also indicates a free update from 360 4.0 to 360 5.0. I haven't tried that yet.

That is it really. I had to get help from Norton last time.
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

FF 7.0.1.4288 intermittently uses 97-100% of CPU capacity for a few seconds, alternating with a few seconds of normal idle usage; this can continue for long periods. During these periods the computer responds very slowly. I can terminate it (temporarily) by rebooting.
FF 7 occasionally uses 97-100% of capacity continuously for several minutes; my impression is that it would continue indefinitely if I did not reboot. When I try to reboot in this condition, FF does not respond, I have to click End Now, in which case previous sessions are not saved.
Norton believes this is due to an interaction between FF 7 and Norton 360. They say that 7.0.1.4288 is a beta version. Norton tells me that 360 should become compatible with FF 7 in a month or two. In the mean time I need to reinstall FF 6.
I cannot see how to do this on your website.

You may need to update Norton. A patch for their toolbar to make it compatible with Firefox 7 was released on the same day that Firefox 7 was released. You may need to run Norton's "Live Update" several times to get all that is needed.

You have multiple old Java Console extensions that Java did not clean-up during updates. You need Java Console only if you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages. You can see them in Add-ons > Extensions, '''''but you can not remove them from there'''''. Removing them will not affect the functioning of Java on websites. The core functionality such as antivirus and firewall will still work, it is the add-ons that will no longer work. If you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.

When I upgraded to version 4.0 I lost my "Identity Safe" in Norton 360. I was told by Norton that they are working on an upgrade. I want to revert to 3.6 until that is available.

Firefox 15 not compatible with Norton Tool bar, is there going to be a fix?
When will you fix this problem with Norton's Tool Bar compatability? I use this feature all the time.
I had Firefox 18 that crashed with Windows 8, and I also had my Norton toolbar. However, I removed 8 and installed back 7 (Windows), and Norton disappeared. Therefore,I went to Firefox 15 and my bar was back. It was back for the past 2 days, and now it is gone, out of the blue. I have the new Comcast Norton 360 and it has been updated - but my bar is gone. I want my bar and it is the only bar for privacy that I trust. I prefer Firefox 18, if I can have it with my Norton bar. Any ideas? I am not able to go to add on's and click onto "enable" because it states that it is incompatible with Firefox 15, therefore, there are no enable or disable buttons. What is going on?

After updating to firefox 17.0 when I do a scan with Norton 360 it no longer picks up tracking cookies. These cookies that were picked up with firefox 16.0.02 what have you changed? Further I am getting sick of these updates - at least tell us users what has changed in new versions.

FF4 tells me it's not compatible with Norton and SafeCentral...is this true?
When I downloaded FF4 it said it was not compatible with Norton and SafeCentral security systems I use on my laptop. Yet they show they are working on my computer. Are they working or aren't they when I have FF4 open?

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? In what file type and compression format did you download the YouTube content? I.e., to avoid such issues, you would normally download the source files as content that is natively compatible with your target player or convert incompatible file type/compression format combinations to files that are compatible with your targeted media player.
