Is Firefox 5.0 compatible with Avast 6.0?

When message came up saying a new update was available for Firefox it also said was not compatible with avast. Avast is my choice of anti virus software and do not want to change. So is it compatible or not?

Hi
1. It is compatible.
2. Always good to work on upgraded version, as you dont know when the support for ECommerce 5.0 will be stopped by SAP.
Also, please refer to the below useful links -

  • Is this Firefox 5 now compatible with avast anti-virus?

When Firefox 5 was first released, there was a message that it was not compatible with Avast. Has this problem been resolved?

Try the new pre-release version of Avast.

  • If Firefox 5 is not compatible with Avast... what am I supossed to do? Choose one of the two or what?

With Firefox 5 freshly installed I learn it's not compatible with Avast! What do I do now? Do I choose '''''one of the two''''' or what?

    Hi Amarillo,
There are a few different toolbars and plugins which are not yet compatible with Firefox 5 including Google, avast and AVG ([http://www.canadiancontent.net/commtr/firefox-rather-soon-released_1093.html source]). I bet it's going to take a day or two for updates to be released.

  • I updated my windows 7 and when I did I received a message that firefox is not compatible with windows 7 updates. What happened?

I got a message to update windows. I updated. My computer said firefox was not compatible with update. I then tried to purchase Avast and it basically crashed my computer. I had help in restoring and when system was checked it showed two different firefox downloads that had not succeeded because they were incompatible with my system. I don't know enough about computers to understand what happened. I have a Dell Studio xps with Windows 7. Thank you.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? The site listed below is a job application site. I've had this same problem with other job application sites also.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

  • I have Webroot Security and Firefox is not compatible with the malicious URLs part of the program? How do I protect myself?

When I downloaded Firefox and was checking my extensions, I was advised that Firefox is not compatible with the malware prevention part of my Webroot security package. I use it successfully with Windows and just renewed for another year. What do you suggest I do to protect myself? I am not a computer expert so if you could reply in plain language it would be appreciated. Also, we stream videos a lot and I noticed that DivX is also not compatible. What do I do about that? Thank you.

I was having this issue for Firefox version 7 and had to spend one hour trying to find a solution. Here is the solution. Go to webroot.com, tab to support and than 2011 product support. Type in Firefox Toolbar it will than say are you unable to use firefox toolbar hit yes. It will say under 1. click hear to download patch. Save the file and after the download run it. After installed close firefox and you should have the webroot toolbar running again.
ff7fix.exe is the file you need.

  • Firefox 5 not compatible with windows 7 apparently!! Need to downgrade to previous version. Computer crashes using ff but nothing else.

Microsoft's site says firefox 3 is compatible with windows 7. however, i've upgraded to firefox 5 and now system crashes to the blue screen.

I have a laptop running Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 and don't have problem with it.
What I suggest you do in the first instance is to start Windows 7 using the '''Last Known Good Configuration''' which will load the operating system the last time it worked properly, instructions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Using-Last-Known-Good-Configuration
    Then do the following.<br><br>
#Use Internet Explorer to download Firefox from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 5.0.1] and choose "'''Save'''" when you see the prompt and save it to your desktop. ''Do not choose "Run"''.<br><br>
#Next, uninstall the version you have at the moment via "Programs and Features" in Control Panel choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
    #Next, reboot.<br><br>
#When the system boots to the desktop, delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\ <br><br>
#Run the installation file you downloaded earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
I don't know if your bookmarks can be retrieved or not, but the following procedure can be used to make a backup should they still be available.<br><br>
    #Press CTRL+SHIFT+B to open the Bookmarks manager.<br><br>
#Click the link to '''Import and Backup '''and then click '''Export HTML '''and save the file somewhere.
You can use the same Bookmarks Manager to import the file you saved by choosing "Import HTML" should that prove to be necessary.

  • Is firefox 11.0 compatible with the gmail notifier?

i want gmail to be my default mail handler in windows xp pro, but it won't allow me do so. one suggested solution is to begin with g-mail notifier, and then proceed to several other steps. is firefox 11.0 compatible with gmail notifier? any other suggestions appreciated.

    This is a little confusing.
Google has a program named Gmail Notifier that works at the Windows OS level. Since it isn't installed as a Firefox add-on, version compatibility shouldn't be an issue.
    Download: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html<br>
Default email client: [http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10966&topic=1153986&ctx=topic Making Gmail your default mail application - Gmail Help]
There is an add-on named Gmail Notifier that was last updated for Firefox 3.6. That will not work in Firefox 11, but I don't think this one is what you're looking for.
    Does that help?

  • Is it true that the latest upgrade is not compatible with AVAST AntiVirus programs? I saw a post with one of the recent updates, and suggested it wouldn't work with my AVAST?

As Above. Before I download the recent update to Fire Fox I want to be certain that it is compatible with ALL AVAST ANTI Virus programs, or I will simply not down load it.

The only thing about Avast that might not be compatible is their Web Rep extension for Firefox. If that is the case, it is up to Avast to keep their Firefox add-on up-to-date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. Did you check with Avast to see if an update is available? If there is, you probably need to have Firefox 5.0 installed to be able to install that update.

  • What is the most recent version of Firefox which is compatible with a PowerMac G5 (PPC) running OS X 10.5.8?

Running Firefox 3.6.3 on my aging machine, I got a dialog telling me that I should upgrade. I did. When the update was complete, and the application restarted, I was running Firefox 3.6.24, and shown a page saying:
“Thanks for downloading Firefox, but this version is out of date. Unfortunately your computer's operating system isn't compatible with the most current Firefox learn more, but you are encouraged to download the most recent version that is compatible instead.”
Clicking the link to the “most recent version” took me to a page which said:
“Firefox 3.6.x will be maintained with security and stability updates for a short amount of time. All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.”
There was no other suggested version linked to that page, and the latest version of Firefox is, of course, NOT compatible with my machine.
Mozilla is confusing me here. Why did Firefox drop back within v. 3.6.x from the version I was already running? Why does the site suggest upgrading to an apparently non-existent “latest compatible version” without providing a link to its suggestion?

  • Updated Firefox is not compatible with my low vision software - Zoomtext. How can I get Firefox to stop asking me to upgrade!!

Currently using version 3.6.27 as the updated versions are not compatible with my low vision software called Zoomtext. I constantly get Firefox asking me to upgrade. How can I get it to stop asking me to upgrade. (I have tried each upgrade and they are all incompatible with Zoomtext.

Go to '''Options''' window > '''Advanced''' panel > '''Update''' tab > '''Firefox updates '''> click '''Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)''', click '''OK''' to save it, exit firefox and restart it.
see for more info: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel#w_update-tab Options window - Advanced panel - Update tab]
BUT you see the warning : Warning: If you select this option, you will not receive '''critical security updates that may keep you safe online''' unless you frequently do a '''manual check for updates'''.
    thank you

  • Why Firefox 5 not compatible with google Toolbar please help.

i prefer firefox 5 but why not compatible with google toolbar.

Firefox 4 is not secure; Firefox 5 is a security and stability update for Firefox 4. The only currently supported versions of Firefox are Firefox 5 and Firefox 3.6.19 (support to expire in a month or two).
    As for the Google toolbar....
Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4.

  • Is Firefox 11.0 Compatable with Avast Antivirus 7.0? Having Problems!

I am running Windows XP. I run Firefox 11.0, and I have Avast Free Antivirus Ver. 7.0.14267. When I open Firefox it always shows "cannot find server" screen. It cannot connect to internet. Multiple tries has no effect. I've done enough diagnosis to learn that Avast is what is stopping Firefox from connecting. Ive already checked the avast settings, and they're normal; nothing changed. But since I updated Firefox I can't get to internet. When I disable Avast, Firefox immediately goes to my home page every time- no problem! With Avast on , Firefox cannot connect to server! Are there any fixes for this? I like Avast and don't want to get rid of it, unless absolutely necessary. Can anyone help with this? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

I intend to. However, the Avast Forum is not accessible right now. They are experiencing some problems and the page is not available. So I was hoping I could find some help here .

  • Is Firefox version 6 compatible with realplayer plus and Norton Security?

I had real problem with Firefox version 5 using realplayer plus (I couldn't download video). I actually got the realplayer people to get it to work on my computer.

No, unfortunately Firefox version 6 is still not compatible with Realplayer.
    But I think it's a Realplayer's problem, not Mozilla's.

  • When will Firefox 6. be compatible with Blackboard?

Your newest version of Firefox will not allow me to login to Blackboard. I am an instructor using Blackboard to teach online. The previous version worked well with Blackboard.

    1. Firefox 4.0 includes the Sync feature, not need for the Firefox Sync extension.
    2. Check with Nokia for an update for whatever Ovi Suite uses to interface with Firefox, like an extension or plugin. Addon developers are responsible for keeping their stuff compatible with Firefox updates.
