Is FireFox 9 compatible with AVG 2012 free?

My system is an older Dell with Windows XP. I have followed this issue for 6 mos and still am unsure if I will be creating a problem I can't solve if I upgrade both the browser and anti-virus software. I am currently using FF3.6.25 and AVG9.0, and both work fine. I don't know enough about all the problems I've read about to be able to fix this if it doesn't work after downloading avg first and then ff. Any help you can provide is most appreciated. Many thanks.

If you experience any compatibility issues while using AVG products and Firefox 9, please make sure to update your AVG and restart your Firefox browser:

  • Have recently installed AVG Free 2012, then received a Firefox update stating that Firefox 7.0.1 was not compatible with AVG and would be disabled; my AVG screen says I am up to date and protected. Which is correct?

In the last couple of days, I received an update of the Free AVG 2012 program for virus protection. Saturday morning when my husband booted up and checked e-mail, he first received an update from Firefox which then alerted him that my computer was now not compatible with AVG, AVG would be turned off; should Firefox search for another compatible program? Having no clue, he clicked NO. When I check the AVG icon in the system tray, it shows AVG2012 up to date and running. The appropriate boxes are checked ok. How do I know what is accurate at this point? Is AVG disabled or not?

    Solution: (Free Download Manager)
Go here: http://codecpack.co/download/Free_Download_Manager.html and download Free Download Manager 3.8.1067 Beta 3, it works perfectly with Firefox 5.0.1
Solution: (to Google mail aka Gmail)
I have had this problem for a while since I did a previous Firefox update, where I had to force Gmail to load in Basic HTML else it's next to impossible to use it. The solution is this: simply update your Java, and Gmail will work without a problem using Standard HTML. To update your Java go here: http://www.java.com/en/ and select "Free Java Download".
And beta normally, universally, means "the not quite there yet version of the version we're aiming for" NORMALLY used during production and testing of a type of software.

  • I just downloaded Firefox 6.0. The web page asked if I wanted to upgrade. What is the most recent version of Firefox and why can't I get it denoted in the propperties link? Also why is it not compatible with AVG Tool Bar?

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it."  Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct  25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Is Firefox 15 compatible with Windows 7- my computer god says"Firefox won't work in Windows 7" so no windows 7 unless I'm willing to switch to IE?

Looking for information I can (possibly) understand and she (person selling me my next computer with Windows 7), might be willing to look into & re-think. I prefer (most of the time) FF to IE. Although I'm willing, if necessary, to switch from Eudora (my choice) to Outlook (she says both are not compatible with Windows 7), I'm less willing to do so with FF. (Although, more & more with so increasingly many FF 'upgrades', I have become less enamored with FF.)
Thanks for any help, info and, please, if you do respond, pretend that for a used to be smart person, I'm ... a computer illiterate, moron, OK, OK, not that bright! Thanks Phyllis

Hi Phyllis! Just to set things clear, Firefox IS compatible with Windows 7.
    Firefox supports Windows 7
    * http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/15.0/system-requirements/
I don't use Eudora so I can't say anything about it. But just by searching around, the reason why Eudora has difficulty running in Windows 7 is that it saves files to a location that is protected in Windows 7. That means no programs may automatically save files there. There are probably some workarounds but I don't know enough about them to comment about here.
The main point is that the Firefox browser runs perfectly fine in Windows 7. I'm typing this on Firefox 15.0.1 in Windows 7 64-bit right now too.
    Hope this helps!

  • When are you going to make Firefox 5 compatible with Google toolbar?

When are you going to make Firefox 5 compatible with the Google Toolbox?

Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version does work in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension, I tried it myself due to the large number of postings about GTB problems. <br />

  • Is Firefox 5 compatible with the new upgrade to OS 10.6.8? I'm having problems

Since I upgraded to Firefox 5.0, and upgraded to 10.6.8 (Mac) my computer is not responding as it previously did. I keep getting "box messages" when I scroll and when I move to the tool bar in Firefox, it switches without my direction.
I contacted Apple, no problems with the upgrade. Is Firefox compatible with the new upgrade??? Even my printer didn't respond.

  • Is Firefox 6 compatible with Webroot NOW right from the start or is there any compatibility problems?

I want to know if Firefox6 is compatible with Webroot this time right from the start. It was not when Firefox5.0 came out and I had a lot of issues. I just want to know what to expect and if Firefox is working on it IF it is a problem or do I need to do anything with Webroot to make the two compatible?

Only if the Comcast "deal" with Norton is directing you to the download or updating you to the newest Norton version. The Norton toolbar that gets installed into Firefox was made compatible with Firefox 6 on the day that Firefox 6 was released.
According to this post on the Comcast forum

if you click on "link" near the bottom in the paragraph beginning "''In order to honor his request, please follow this '''''link''''' to the Other Norton Products board...''", you will be taken to the following forum at Norton where you can ask your question:

Not related to your question, but...

  • Latest Firefox update compatible with Mac Tiger OSX 10.4.11

Firefox notifies me that I'm not running the latest version (I have 3.6.24 GTB7.1) and to download the version compatible with my older system (Mac Tiger 10.4.11). I click on that link and can find nothing that states what systems the version(s) there are compatible with. I have in the past downloaded and installed an incompatible version, a situation to avoid for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the fast responses, I am particularly happy to have found the floodgap.com website. Didn't think that I was the only one muttering about the abandonment of two decades of pre-Intel software and tech files that my work depends on, and am glad to see some action in that direction. Surely a cottage industry will spring up to keep hardware available. I love what Apple has brought us but not their ability to turn their back on what brought them up, and millions of users in the process.
