Is firefox ACTUALLY more secure than Internet Explorer 8?

Hello Mozilla forum members. I am currently a Firefox user. An NSSLabs test claims Internet Explorer 8 is the most secure web browser. Some other sources also agree. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Thanks!

I do not know what the other tested browsers use for comparable protection. Do you? I would not depend on Google Safe Browsing or any other such service for my full protection. Would you?

-Keep all of your system defenses up-to-date, firewall, AV/AS, scan regularly with multiple scanners (none is 100% correct, 100% of the time). IMPORTANT: Never run over-lapping security applications (i.e., 2 firewalls, 2 anti-virus/anti-spyware) at the same time. Two is NOT better than one in this case.
-Do you know what '''services''' and '''processes''' are running on your system, why they are running and what the function of each might be? Do you '''actively''' monitor incoming and outgoing connections? Do you log connections and review them?
-Don't visit questionable sites (porn, warez, less than legal music and video download sites, etc.)
-Base part of your judgement on your own experience; have you experienced any security related problems with what you are using? If so, then make a change <u>'''NOW'''</u>!

Firefox 23 loads slower than Internet Explorer 10

I was doing a speed test between Firefox 23 and Internet Explorer 10. If you visit http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/PenguinMark/ all addons are disable on Firefox 23 and still slower than internet explorer. Why is that?

To Reset Firefox do the following:

Is Firefox x64 more secure against Malware attacks than Firefox x32?

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 computer. It is my understanding that Windows 7 HP SP1 x64 is more secure against Malware-Virus attacks then Window 7 HP SP1 x32.
I am using Firefox 6.0B2 x32 and just started also using Firefox 8.0A1 x64. Both are working fine.
Is the x64 version of Firefox more secure than the x32 version against Malware-Virus attacks on a Windows 7 SP1 x64 computer simply because it is x64.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
Step 4
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

I cant scroll using the touch mouse in firefox but i can in Internet explorer

I've just got a new laptop with windows XP professional, I've reloaeded windows and the drivers. I cant scroll using my mousepad in Firefox but I can in internet explorer and it works in other programs such as MS word.

Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer

I designed my school website in CS4 and CS5. The left spry menu bar appears correctly in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer the gray background and buttons do not appear. You can only see the text and when you scroll over the text, it disappears even though when you click on it, the link does appear. The website is http://ml.chinookschools.org. I created the site on a mac and I am hosting it on a mac mini server on my network at school. I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and I'm not sure if someone can help me with this, but I would sure be appreciative for any help offered. Here is the source code for the main template page:

You are not using the latest Spry files
The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
@media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;
Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

Cant use some funtions in firefox but still work with internet explorer, too long to explain in one ssentence

recently I have found that certain buttons on sites like facebook and others will not function when I am using firefox but if I use internet explorer those same buttons work fine. one example is the log out button in facebook. you can click on the command button all day but nothing happens. First thought this was a facebook issue but noticed certain command buttons did not work in other sites as well. Went to i.e. and everything works fine what has happened

Should I upgrade to Macericks now from 10.6.8 on my i-Mac(mid 2007, core 2 duo?). Will Mavericks be more secure than 10.6.8 ? 10.6.8 has been great, it runs great with all my apps but am concerned about future supportibility?

Should I upgrade to Mavericks now from 10.6.8 (i-Mac, mid 2007, core 2 duo)? Will Mavericks be more secure than 10.6.8 ? I have the latest version of 10.6.8 and have upgraded my memory to 4GB. This could be one reason for me to make the move now.
10.6.8 has been great, it runs great with all my apps but am concerned about lack of support now. I know my PC apps will not work but maybe some apps that work now will "walk away" from 10.6.8 and then there's the security question of above.
I am also concerned about iPhoto 9 transition to i-Photo 11 and compatibility of my Time Machine WD Passport HD (format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) based on several questions in applicable forums.

If I were you I would stick with Snow Leopard. It's much better suited to your old hardware. That said:

The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Firefox shouldn't affect your Internet Explorer in any way. What exactly isn't working?

Firefox Won't download via internet explorer

I am going on the main page and clicking download but nothing comes up.
Even when i click the 'click here' hyperlink to start the download that doesnt work either.

That is an Internet Explorer problem and so not easy to help you with. Could you use anther machine that does work to download the installer from that page, transfer it to removable media and use that to intall Fifefox on your problem computer.

In the search box, type '''power''' and then pause until the list is filtered. If you have these, try changing the action to "Always Ask":

It's possible that if you don't have Microsoft Office installed, you might not have those listed.
