Is Firefox Mobile sandboxed on Android OS also when is FF Mobile version 11 coming out.

I know the stock Android browser is sanboxed but what about Firefox Mobile and one other question when is Firefox Mobile version 11 coming out?
FYI what I mean by sanboxing is it being virtualized in a bubble of that encapsulates the browser so that only data from the browser is allowed to save outside the sanndbox or something that you want to save outside the bubble lets say an image that you save/download is this type of sandbox that Firefox Mobile uses?

Hi,
Firefox Beta (available in Google Play) includes support for Flash, so you might give it a try, the Sync setup is improved and makes it easy to get all of your bookmarks. As far a sync data, none of that is available to any other part of your device, see the data encryption section of this article for more info: [[How does Firefox mobile for Android provide secure mobile browsing]]
Thanks!
Michelle

  • Is there a Firefox Mobile version that will run on Windows 6.5 phones?

I am using a Samsung Omnia II (SCH i920). Is there a Firefox Mobile program that will run on my phone. It is a Windows 6.5 device.

Sorry, Mozilla stopped development on the Windows CE OS platform almost a year ago, and has no current plans to pick it up again.

  • There is going to be Firefox mobile version for s60v5 nokia?

  • Upgraded firefox all browsers now cannot connect, OK when back to previous version. Can you help?

I upgraded to firefox 29. Computer was rebooted and all access to internet ceased. Tried other browsers and they would not load either. Checked internet connection OK. Reloaded the older firefox and all works on all browsers. Reluctant to try to upgrade again.

Funny that everyone was willing to reply until you asked the real question, then silence. I've been having the same problem, too. I understand a firewall blocking the new update, but there is no reason why that change should block ALL connections on that computer. I'm hoping someone can post a fix. These system restores are getting very old.

  • Cant download firefox mobile from my android 2.2 HTC wildfire... it says "item not found"... also it's unavailable on the android market...there are a lot of imitation apps though.

I cant download firefox mobile from my android 2.2 HTC wildfire... it says "item not found"... also it's unavailable on the market... what to do???

Sorry, Firefox 4 is not available for phones like the HTC Wildfire with ARMv6 processors. For details, see: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements

  • How do I 'Open all in tabs' from a bookmark folder, in Firefox mobile? I am using an android tablet.

One of the best things about firefox on my desktop is the way I could group bookmarks into folders per subject or task, then open them all in tabs. On my Asus tablet I can see my desktop bookmark folders, but I don't see how to open them all in tabs. Also, is there a way to put a bookmark button somewhere, instead of going through the homepage?

It is not a default feature of Firefox mobile. Sounds possible via an extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/ Though anything more than 3-5 would cause some performance problems while the pages are downloaded. If a large number were selected there is a good chance that all the memory on the tablet would be exhausted and Firefox would be killed by Android.

  • Does Firefox Mobile on Android allow the user to be able to view a Java streamed Webcam?

I tested the new Evo Shift at the Sprint store and brought up a webcam from the dog daycare center that would not appear on the phone. I was told that you couldn't do this on Android, I wanted to know if viewing the webcam is possible with Firefox Mobile?

Sorry, Firefox for Android is not be able to display pages that require the Java browser plug-in.

Firefox Mobile 4 beta 3 (and pre-beta 4) fails to install on Archos 101 Tablet using Android 2.1 Eclair with no specific error. Is this a know issue or has someone been able to successfully install?

Sorry, we haven't tested Firefox on this device yet, and we aren't sure why it isn't working. If anyone (especially with Android development experience) would like to help us debug this problem, please start by creating an account and submitting a bug report at: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/
    Thanks for the report.

  • Can you realise firefox mobile for low-end android devices like Samsung GT-I5700 Galaxy Spica?

Now the realised version of Firefox doesn't work on low-end Android devices.

Probably not. The ARMv6 version was very unstable, and always crashed, according to the knowledge base.

  • When will Firefox Mobile be available for Android 1.5?

I have the new Motorola i1 (Boost Mobile) which runs version 1.5 of the Android operating system with no upgrade to 2.x in sight. Any idea when Firefox mobile might be available for it?

The minimum requirement is Android 2.0, I don't believe there are any plans to make a version for Android 1.5

  • Whether firefox mobile is available for LG Optimus One (Android 2.2)

I am trying to install firefox mobile on my mobile LG Optimus One (having Android 2.2). But it is not getting installed.
Is it available for this device. If yes, what procedure should I follow to download it.
    Thank you.

The mobile version of Firefox is dependent upon the processor being used. The LG Optimus One has an ARM 11 processor which uses the ARMv6 architecture. The mobile version of Firefox requires a processor that uses the ARMv7 architecture. There are experimental builds that '''may '''work on the LG Optimus One, for details see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android in particular the part about the ARMv6 experimental builds.

  • Firefox Mobile available for those with no Android Market

Seems the article [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/install-firefox-mobile#os=android&browser=m6 "How do I install Firefox on a mobile device?" ] requires Android Market.
FYI: "Android Market" is only available with Google's GMS (Google Mobile Services) kit, and only for those devices Google has had the opportunity to approve. In addition there are limitations from which countries developers are allowed to publish and sell applications via Android Market.
Android being Open Source, is probably used on just as many non-certified by Google devices.
There are reputable alternative Marketplaces that power such devices ranging from tablets, Android TV's, E-book readers, etc that come preloaded (or for users download) such as the [http://slideme.org/sam "SlideME Market (SAM)" ]. Any reason, (beyond the effort it takes to stock the apk onto other stores) why Firefox Mobile for Android could not be on such stores, including Amazon Appstore (another reputable, but limited to US only)?

Firefox makes use of a lot of the features that the Android market has such as access to select devices (only ARMv7 + 512mb RAM), provides updates, and collecting Java crash data. If someone has a device that meets the minimum specs and wants to deal with updating Firefox themselves Firefox mobile can be found on the ftp.
Due to the above reasons and others I'm forgetting 3rd party markets are not a high priority.

  • Firefox mobile installed on Dell Streak5 running Android 2.3.3, but font is hieroglyphics

Just downloaded and installed Firefox mobile on my Dell Streak5, running Android 2.3.3. Appears to have installed ok but the font or language is not English. It looks like hieroglyphics with just symbols, fractions, arrows, etc.

I have the same problem. The system font is not readable. it looks like a symbol font. I try to change the language in preference but the only language that is readable (written not in symbols) is Russian - Cyrillic and again the system font is like symbols. When I try to write some site URL in English it appears in symbols but the site is opening correctly.
