Is Flash the right software?

Not a Flash developer, I'm wondering if it's the right
software for a project I have in mind. I want to create a database
of 1000 or so photos. The computer with the database would be
linked to several sensors that, if tripped by people walking past
them, would cause the display of the photos (on a monitor) to
change with the following variations: 1. slowing down or speeding
up the sequence, 2. jumping from one sequence to another, 3.
zooming in on a photo, 4. panning across a photo.
I'd also like sound to accompany the photos.
Is Flash the right tool?
Thanks.
Chris

Maybe. Sounds like fun.
Flash can do the things you have mentioned. Most of it not
too complicated.
The question comes in on the "linked to several sensors"
part. As far as I know Flash doesn't offer a lot of options beyond
the regular keyboard and mouse for input. We get a lot of "can
Flash read a serial port" type of questions on the boards and the
answers generally seem to be, "No."
If the sensors you are using can do the equivalent of making
the computer believe that the space bar of the "e" key (for
example) have been press then Bobs your uncle.

  • Is this the right software to .....?

Hi everyone..I've been using adobe software for what seems like an eternity, since the days of photoshop v.4 and there is simply nothing better..my wife and I recently discussed how fun it would be to start dj'ing our own parties so she went out and surprised me with AA3 for xmas based on some advice she received from a friend..
What I would like to know is if this is the right software to simply edit songs, specifically 2 hour radio shows..I would like to cut specific songs and turn them into singles, then down the road remix them and develop new songs from scratch..Is AA3 overkill for these tasks and should I be looking at other software such as virtual DJ?

Programs like Virtual DJ are great for live performances - where you are mixing and matching songs on the fly - but if you're trying to "craft" a mix with a perfectly timed piece here, another there, and maybe cut the cruft out of the middle of another track, then Audition should do you right. If I am performing live, it's Traktor all the way, but when putting together a cd or podcast sort of project, 3 or 4 tracks in Audition and I'm set.

  • Is Flash the Right Program For This?

I have an animation of a product that rotates, then some parts fade to show internal gears turning, then the whole thing rotates back to the starting position. I have that animation as individual frames, and .mp4 (and .avi). I need to add call-outs that appear at certain parts of the animation to explain what is happening with the product, and also to have the animation pause at those parts, while my client explains certain things. He then needs to be able to press a play button to start the animation again. This needs to happen several times during the presentation.
He will be presenting using a Macbook Air, and will not be leaving the presentation behind.
What Adobe product is the correct one to use?Is Flash the right solution?
I was originally planning on adding the call-outs in AE, but when he asked to add the pauses, and "Play" button I wasn't sure what was best anymore. The animation is rendered in HD, and the final output needs to be HD as well.

you could do that all with flash.
you might be able to do it with premiere, too but i'm not a premiere expert,

  • Is Automator the right software to back up your music library?

I'm not very familiar with Automator, but I'm trying to make it do something and I fail miserably.
All I want is when I add a song to my iTune, I would like Automator to immediately create a back up of the song.
Is this the right software to do that?
    If not, suggestions?

Not to blow my own horn but check out the article at http://www.atpm.com/12.07/automator.shtml I developed a workflow that copies your music folder. I didn't discuss it much in the article but there is also a link to an Automator action that could be added to the workflow so that it speeds things up by only copying files modified sine the last backup.
I saved my workflow as an application that is double-clickable. In the article I also talk about using Automator and iCal to achieve timed backups. For what you want to do it's probably best to save as an application and attach it to the music folder as a folder action. I didn't discuss that in the article but you can find easy to follow directions at http://www.macworld.com/article/54651/2007/01/febgeekfactor.html Read the section entitled Put Your Folders To Work

  • Do I have the right software for my needs?

I have an issue with just jumping on forums and asking for help with code and build assistance, how do i do this or that.
My point in this visit is because of some frustration with designing a simple flash vid. I have no idea what Adobe product I should be using because the site poorly defines the products they have. All I want is a video that fades through a few pictures on a loop. Something too heavy for a gif.
The learning video's go right past this level of basics into application building and the help files are so adjoined to hard code, I feel like Flex is not the right thing to be using.
Can someone give me a suggestion as to what software I should look at OR a better push in the direction of learning how to use this builder. Please excuse my stubbornness to envelop myself in this software but I have less time than i care to admit.
    TIA!
    William
If you wanted some details on what i am stuck with, for starters, i have to states (an image in each) and i'm trying to make a fade transition between the two. What i am having trouble finding is how to implement a timer that automatically activates that transition.    ....ok, i sunk to my predefined low ;p

    Outstanding! Thanks for the assistance.
I'm all ears for any other suggestions that anyone else has.

  • Do I have the right software for this?

I am a longtime user of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and have just recently upgraded to Adobe CS4. I have an existing webpage that I plan to completely redesign. The website content itself is simple but I would like to make the page design template much more visually appealing and dynamic. My inspiration is http://www.wickedthemusical.com/page.php#, I really like the uneven borders of the page and the turning gears. What I would truly like to do is create my page with appearing and disappearing filagrees surrounding the basic content. Now, the question: I had just begun learning about layers in Dreamweaver MX but see that they are no longer available in CS4. Am I able to achieve the kind of effects I want to with CS4? And if so, can someone give me a headstart? I realize that the actual process will be in depth but if I can just get a general direction, I should be able to figure most of it out myself. I appreciate any help.

If you are asking how to do something with Dreamweaver CS4, then the Dreamweaver forum is the place to go. If you are asking what software you can use to design something like the website you mention, then this is the right place. People can recommend what is the best software and/or methods to do what you want.

  • Do I have the right software to edit photos?

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 11, I am having trouble getting to the screen that has the tabs at the top to edit the photos. There is a quick edit on the right. What am I missing?

    Use Adobe photoshop Elements.
Premeire elements is for editing videos not photo's.

  • HT1338 I cant get my iphone 5 to be compatible with my mac book pro. I've been trying to update my itunes but it wont let me because it tells me i dont have the right software is there anything that I can do so I can sync my phone to computer?

I cant get my iphone 5 to be compatible with my mac book pro. When I plug the iphone 5 in it tells me that i need a newer version of itunes 10.7 and I currently have 10.6. I checked for updates in my itunes and it says i dont have any. So i have gone to the itunes website to try and redownload itunes which i believe it 11.7. When I try and download that version it tells me the software on my computer doesn't suppor that version. I try to update my software and it says there is not software updates available right now.  Is there anyway I can get my iphone 5 to synce to my itunes?

In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater.

  • The right software???

I am not a developer, I am just a Windows Mobile 5.0 user. If
I want websites with Flash to work on my PDA, is this the software
I should install? All the references seem to mention developers.
Same with Flash 7.0 for Windows Mobile. If not, which software
    should I install?

    Hi,
You dont need any other software install. FlashLite 2.1 for
    Windows Mobile
    comes with an ActiveX player.
If you want to use the FlashLite ActiveX player, you need
    sites that have
HTML pages that embed FlashLite content. We do not have the
    list of Flash
    7/FlashLite 2.1 content enabled sites.
If you like to create your own webpages with FlashLite 2.1
    content, please
    read the FAQ at,
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashlite_wm5/#FAQ
    Hope this helps,
    Vijayan.

  • Is Flash the right program for this animation...?

    Hi All,
Completely new to Flash, so thanks in advance for any advice.
I have to make a short animation from the point of view of travelling along a road, signs and words coming from the horizon line and passing by... also objects coming from far away and then moving 'through' them.   It is graphic based - text and line art - rather than photorealist.
Is this the sort of thing I can do in Flash or is it a combo of something else and After Effects?
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    G.

    Thanks - great news...
Having re-read my post, just to be clear the POV I mean is travelling 'into' the screen, rather than travelling across the screen [left to right for example].  I can do left to right in Powerpoint, but it is too tedious to use to give the illusion of travelling toward the horizon....
I want Flash to be the answer!
    Thanks again...

  • Is Final Cut Server is the right software for our company?

I need a software that catalogs and keeps organize our media. Our company is using Final Cut Pro 2 and want to keep stock footage. Apparently, were not doing a good job of organizing our media and files. I'm researching a software that can organize and catalog media and files. Does Final Cut Server is software can do that?
    Thank you
    Luis

    Yes and no.
I know that's not the best answer, but final cut server is a very powerful organizational tool, but you also need to very organized in what you put into it and especially during initial setup.
For example, you say your company is apparently not doing a very good job organizing right now, so lets say you had 300 quick times labeled documentary1.mov, then documentary2.mov and so on, having a piece of software catalogue footage in that manner will not do you any favours in the long run.
However, if you were to say establish a production, "PBS Documentary" and then ensure that all clips are labeled very specifically, then keeping them and being able to search them as a part of a stock footage library could be very useful, as you are not only able to locate clips based on key words, but also preview the footage to make sure it is something you would want to use, and determine the current location of that file.
I suggest you check out apple's videos on FCserver, they will give you a pretty good idea of what the software is designed to do.

  • Hello, is Flash the right programme for a simple interactive game with buttons and small animations?

    Hello,
I could really use some advice with a new project I am undertaking,
I am looking to design a step-by-step game where users will be required to click on my artwork at each stage to get the next one. I would like different animated consequences to occur according to which button option is chosen at each stage. Eventually I would like for it to be a website that anybody can enter. I was wondering which programme would be ideal to use, I have access to Adobe Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver, but currently I only have a very basic grasp of them. This would be a long-term project I will be working on, so I am prepared to learn the appropriate programme, but if you could help me with which one that would be and any tips, I would be really grateful.
    Thanks very much,
    Hugo
