Is "Free VZW Msg" legit?

Last night I received a text from "Free VZW Msg" offering an upgrade to my plan and all I have to do is reply "YES" to accept.  I want to accept the offer but wanted to confirm it is a legit offer from Verizon.

It may help to know what the message was or what the plan upgrade was to see if anyone else has gotten a similar offer.
For what it is worth, whenever I get a text notification my bill is ready, it comes as "VZW FREE MSG" not "Free VZW Msg" as yours came. The number it comes from is 900080003498. Whether the wording changes or the number it comes from changes depending what department it comes from(billing or sales) I couldn't say.

  • Kin One data block - text message warning - Free VZW Msg...

I just got a Kin Onem to give as a gift to my daughter.  I subscribed to the minimum mandatory $1.99/MB data plan, intending to disable data on the phone to keep the cost low and use the phone as a feature phone, with occasional WiFi data use.
In the Service block settings on the MyVerizonWireless web page, I turned off all the services that will cost money, including the "Block All Data Services". I did leave the "Block Picture and Video Messaging" block off (allowing those).
Now, about every 4-5 hours, I get a text from Verizon on the phone that says "Free VZW Msg. Your msg/request was blocked and not delivered. Only the account holder can change your settings to allow access privileges".
I did a reset on the phone, so there are no e-mail accounts setup on it.  I thought maybe I had set something up on it that required data, but even if I do a reset and put the phone in a drawer and not touch it at all, it will still get the messages every 4-5 hours.
Anyone run into this yet?  Any ideas to fix it?

that's really annoying... I blocked everything as you did, but didn't get a single msg as you mentioned...

  • Not enough free space msg lies, 4 gig nano

I have a 4 gig nano, from iTunes it shows my nano has 3.71 GB free.
I have a song list that I've specified as the list to update to Nano, and the list shows it's 3.69 GB in size.
But when I try to update the nano with this list, I get the "not enough free space" message.
According to my math, I have .02 GB free and should be able to fit the list on the device.
    What gives here?
    thanks.
    chris

I`ve had no replies, but answered my own question. For those interested . . .
If you have say 1500 songs and only 2 Gigs on you iPod here`s what you might do.
    1. Load up your library with all of your music, you`re own music, copyright, etc. remember . . .
    2. Make multiple playlists as you like. I manage my own for some things, example; I like to have some alternative in my Rock playlist, visa versa, etc, etc. so I pick & choose what goes where. I also use smart playlists for those that I don`t want altered, eg. Classical will only have Classical in the playlist, so the smart playlist automatically updates itself.
    3. Manualy make a special playlist with ALL of your favourite tunes, let`s say it`s over 800 or so.
    4. Next, use your iPod preferences to load up your iPod with contacts, photos, etc. and manage the music on part by selecting the playlists you want updated on the iPod. Start with choosing only small playlists that you definitely want on board. Then update and check your used space on your iPod. Let`s say you`ve got room for another 1.3 Gig`s of music.
    5. Now create a smart playlist that selects music randomly from your new smart playlist of favourite tunes and also stipulate the "Limit to" amount by MB or GB. In the example above this would be 1300MB (as you can not place a decimal in a GB field).
    6. Lastly, use your iPod preferences again to check the smart playlist you have just created and update it onto your iPod.
    7. If you ever want to freshen things up, just delete all of the items in the smart playlist and start all over. This would be handy after adding a whack o new tunes to your library.
Voila, you've maximized the space on your iPod and loaded only your favourite songs in completely random order. Hope this helps somebody out there
PS. This thing they call iTunes is briliant realy!

  • "not enough free space" msg appearing incorrectly. Unable to properly sync.

I have been searching through the posts and haven't seen one similar to this:
Initially, my nano worked wonderfully. Then, around Thanksgiving, anytime I tried to sync it with my laptop, I received an error stating it was too full to sync -- even if I wanted to have only one tiny file on the device. This week, I updated iTunes and used the iPod updater, hoping the problem would be solved with newer software. It didn't. I tried over and over with what came with the device and then what was online. I tool the device, my cable, and laptop to the local Apple store for assistance. After about an hour, I was told that the problem was my computer.
I went home and tried starting over from scratch using my desktop. I tried with the software that came with the device, with what was online, resetting, etc., etc. It still didn't work, so I went back to the store.
I was told it might be the cable as they were able to load songs from a Mac.
After whatever was done at the store, I have now managed to sort of get it to work once in awhile by manually updating files. But it only seems to sync one way --> from the computer to the device. I have to look at the device to figure out which podcasts I've listened to and now want deleted and then manually delete them from my computer instead of being able to look at my computer after a sync operation and seeing what was played.
It also now constantly displays a "Do Not Disconnect" message - even after being connected to my computer for hours. The online help is not helpful in diagnosing what this means. I did see some posts on this forum about the "Do Not Disconnect" message and am not as concerned about it as I had been earlier.
Why has it stopped working? It used to work just fine. I have tried using two different computers at this point. I don't think the problem is on my end.
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to assist me.

As of today, my device now skips songs and plays chunks of songs over and over.
I went back to the store again and have now been passed off to customer support.

  • VZW Free Text Message

Anyone else get the recent text message from Verizon (3575) "An exciting free message from Verizon Wireless is on its way!  Stay tuned!  Reply STOP to quit or HELP for program details. 877-764-3513"?
Replied HELP and Response is as follows:  "Thanks, this a VZW marketing msg.  Text STOP to quit or please call 877-571-0774 for more information."
Called the 877 # and all I got was an answering service telling me about an exciting something or other to leave a message with phone #, carrier, make and model of phone.
Stated it's from vibe.com or vive or something don't remember.
Don't know if it's a marketing scam/spam using VZW as a cover, if it's legit or if it's the impending bug fix for ICS?

Yes I received at 2:36 pm CST a text from 3575
FREE VZW MSG: An exciting message from Verizon Wireless is on its way! Stay tuned! Reply STOP to quit or HELP for program details. 877.764.3513
I did not reply or touch the message.
Then at 3:55 pm CST we recieved a text from 3575 with a VZW Content video attached.
    Did not open or touch.

  • BEWARE:  Scam via text msg?

I recently upgraded my primary line to a phone that now requires the $9.99 data.  To offset the cost I changed my family plan to the 700 minute plan effective with the start of my next billing cycle.  On the day the change came into effect I received a text message from Verizon stating my plan no longer had Friends and Family (which I was aware) from 900080003495.  The next day I received a text message from 900070001635 that said (I am typing it with misspellings just the way it came!):
Free VZW Msg:  Ur plan now includes unltd call to 10 phone nbrs of ur choice w/Friends & Family!  Enroll at vzw.com/myverizon. 2 stop msgs, reply X.
My original message from Verizon used proper spelling and did not ask for any reply.  Of course I did not reply but wonder what would have happened if I did?
I hope a Verizon Representative reads this!

I'm not a Verizon rep, but I did type vzw.com/myverizon into my browser, and the plans I get (after logging in) do NOT have the 10 F&F 3's on anything but the 1400 or more minutes family plans, and 900 or more individual plans.
Call any number*, any network, any time – and never use your plan minutes! At no extra charge, you can get unlimited calling with:
5 numbers with any Nationwide Single Line Plan with 900 or more Anytime Minutes.
10 numbers with any Nationwide Family SharePlan with 1400 or more Anytime Minutes.
Additionally, when I view the Family plan options, there is no F&F option listed for 700 minutes.  Not sure what your text meesage was about - I think it was a Verizon one (I have seen them come through with the popular text shorthand spellings to save characters - drives me buggy but that's just me) but no longer applies to your current plan, so I'm not sure why you would get it, unless they want you to bump back up to the plan that DOES include the 10 #'s.

  • 11/14 Shipment but no tracking number?

My iPhone 6+ was supposed to ship yesterday on the 14th but I haven't received any updated information. My order still says processing and the shipment date remains 11/14. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks Ashley. After calling the number above three (3) different times, I finally found someone who could provide a status update on my order for the 128GB space gray iPhone 6 plus. This very nice woman found a note in their system for my order that was supposedly sent out via email to me yesterday (which never came). It acknowledges a delivery/backorder/shipment issue. I asked the rep if she could resend the email. But, the best she could do was text me a snippet of the message which states "....FREE VZW MSG-DO NOT REPLY: order status update device order will be delayed from 11/14/2014 ship date, to New ship date of 12/05/2014" The information obviously outlines a new ship date of 12/5. When I was visiting with service rep 2 of 3 before being mysteriously being hung up on, she also claimed there would be a $10 credit applied to the bill for this delayed shipment issue. But, it's all still a supply/demand issue compounded by some kind of "other" logistics issue at Verizon regarding the product that was supposed to be shipped on 11/14/2014. Thus, my order along with numerous others are now part of the latest anticipated batch of new product arrivals which will fulfill orders with a shipment date of 12/5/2014. This same date can be found currently (as of 11/15/2014) online at verizonwireless.com when ordering my model of phone. It would appear something happened to the batch due to deliver to Verizon and ship on 11/14/2014. Now our orders have apparently been reset for an entirely new anticipated APPLE delivery to Verizon. So, at least for us unfortunate customers who lost out in this last issue/batch, we at least have a new target ship date for our orders. Best of luck to everyone. At this rate...we might get an iPhone 7 someday. But, don't plan to get an update from Verizon - it appears they just don't have a process/system capable of handling the customer communications surrounding these kinds of supply/demand/backorder/shipment.

  • IOS 6: texts sent to e-mail addresses arrive as .txt attachments

I located the follwoing Q & A on the Apple site. I have the same issue and cannot read the Verizon iPhone 4s/5 iOS 6 text messages on my Verizon Galaxy S III. Has anyone identified a solution?
    (Q) A friend just updated his iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and now the texts he sends to my e-mail address are sent as a .txt attachment (titled "text_0.txt") instead of in the body of the e-mails.  This is a problem, since I can't open the .txt attachments on my Kindle Keyboard.  Any ideas how he can get the messages back in the body of the e-mails I receive from him?
    (A)  I just received the below from Verizon today:
FREE VZW MSG-DO NOT REPLY: The issue with the text messages on iOS 6 has been escalated to Apple. I will contact you when I have more information.

I have this problem too, and have been following that apple thread since the beginning.  Its definitely a Verizon problem because ios6 users from all other carriers have not experienced this issue.  Seems like Verizon doesn't really care and has left me hoping that the 6.1 upgrade thats soon to come will fix it.

  • I recieved this texttext

Free VZW Msg.Your Droid was sent the Android 2.2 software update including Adobe Flash 10.1. Click for more info: http://vzw.com/droidupdate
Anyone else get this text? Is this referring to the adobe hack?

I do not do updates or follow any links from VZW. Got a virus once off their update for a wireless card and still have issues with the computer. The virus and worms today are impossible to get off your machine with out a wipe and install new.

  • OH MY God what is really going on?

My identity has been stolen from a big group of well organized criminals who are playing beautiful music together.  Meaning they are working hard and well together at what they are trying to accomplish together.  Well l have to change my emails on a daily basis because I always end up with them changing my passwords.  I have nothing to steal I am a struggling college student and get all A's.  I got a 53 on an exam and had to drop a class and pay for it because of all the confusion and time that this has caused me.  I have suffered going back and forth to the store to bring in both my Mac Air and my Hp.  The passwords I notice have to connect in order for them to do their business.  I shut my keys off and keep asking for the password.  The password they had missed.  I get an agent request and almost gave up my key to it because it would not get off my screen.  I have a FaceTime that I have never accessed before and it had 8,000 downloads?  What are all these downloads is that the Apple processing whatever needs to be in there or what?  I think I am being used as a robot because I cannot understand what they really want from me.  My phone call got redirected when I tried to call Microsoft last night and am smart enough to know what was going on and told the woman to back off .  She said yes okay.  I called a Microsoft # and got redirected to these criminals.  I have spent too much time going back and forth to get my computer cleaned up by the geeksquad.  The geek told me he has never seen anything like it in his life.  What do they want from me?  Maybe they bribed the government about me.  I do not know what is really going on.  I just installed OSx and Safari Last night and at the next morning they had been uninstalled.  What do you think? Oh, My Mac Air has been restored twice already and is a month old.  I told the head tech at apply some things that would be useful to the company and when I was finished talking the phone hung up and she never even returned my call.  Why? This is ridiculous!

When customers use Mobile Broadband and certain allowance thresholds are reached, an SMS alert is automatically generated; only if the Mobile Broadband device is turned on and VZAM (VZAccess Manager) is running. This applies to all VZW Mobile Broadband type devices.
The requirements for Mobile Broadband Usage Alerts are:
VZ Access Manager 6.9 and higher required.
All Mobile Broadband type devices and plans.
Customers using NDIS, Windows DUN, or any other connection manager will not recieve the alert or email.
Apple Macintosh computers are not compatible with SMS so will not get the alerts.
This international usage alert can be displayed as a popup or it might be received as a regular SMS message.
The alerts are sent out in SMS form. You can check your SMS messages by clicking the "TXT" tab at the top of your VZ Access Manager. Examples of Mobile Broadband usage alerts are the following:
SMS warning message 50%- "Free VZW msg: Please note that you have used at least half of your monthly data allowance. In VZAccess Manager, click Connect and then the Usage tab for details."
Email warning message 50%- "Please note that mobile number [mtn] has used at least half of its monthly data allowance. To get full details about the account's data usage:
Log on to VZAccess Manager and click Usage.
Sign on to your account at: www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon
Call Customer Service at 800-922-0204. "
Four alerts will be sent at the pre-defined thresholds (50%, 75%, 90% and 100%), based on the plan allowance.

  • International Text Charge

I got a Free VZW msg, the other day, about "Android Smartphone workshops" I wasn't interested, and it says "To stop msgs reply with X"  I replied with an X  and was charged 25 cents for sending a text message internationally.    I know it was this reply i got charged for  because that is the only text message I sent out within an hour of that time,  Just posting this as a warning,  reply to the message, you may get charged a quarter.
I called customer service and they removed the charge:  But, I will leave this up as a warning/fyi.  The message was from 900-070-001647.

Thanks for sharing your experience - and glad you got the credit for the one text! It's only a quarter, true, but every little bit helps.
Incoming texts from Verizon are free - so there really is no reason to STOP them....except for the annoyance factor. As yo found out, responding to the text was not free, even if the incoming was free.

  • Reports of Text Msg from VERIZON re: ICS coming  -- anyone else?

Being reported in the MotoRazr Maxx forum - users supposedly getting a TEXT msg frmo Verizon re: ICS 4.0 coming :
    The message started out:
Your phone will soon be upgraded to Android 4.0.  At that time we will remove your Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app because it is not supported on Android 4.0.  Please download a new instant messaging app...  snip ...
    Anyone else getting this?

I REALLY wish VZN would include some base FREE Text Messaging as part of all these changes coming up to their plans and ICS ..  Something like 25 Free Text Msgs per month ...  Reason being is that I have Unlimited Data right now (not using more than 1GB per month) and no Texting Plan ... so I get nickled & dimed by SPAM Texts that I get every month. (I don't want to turn OFF SMS because I get/send valid MSGS from time to time, just not many.)

  • Less than 450 minutes?

I have the talk/text/data plan with unlimited all three to other vzw custs and unlimited web with 450 minutes to non vzw numbers. On average, I use less than 100 non-vzw minutes. Is there a way to get a plan with less than the 450 minutes, to lower my bill? I definitely want to keep unlimited data as long as I can and unlimited text because I use these a lot but I feel I'm paying for 450 minutes of non Verizon minutes and using a fraction of that. And I looked online and didn't see any plans with less minutes. If anyone has any info on how or if I can lower this at all I'd appreciate it, thank you.

    >>
They could offer a plan of less than 450 minutes, but it may not come with free VZW to VZW calls.
Much like those who have a family plan with 1400 minutes. They get 10 numbers to call for free. Many say they never use their 1400 minutes, can they have a less minute plan, BUT they still want those free numbers.
With out the freebies, you would most likely use your minutes.
    <<
I would prefer it. Because I am a low caller and even if there aren't significant freebies my count would still be less than 450 minutes per month. I am in fact wasting a good per centage of minutes every month.

It can be made into a nice system, powerful and stable.  But to do so takes an unprecedented amount of effort.  To make Win 8.1 as powerful as a well-tuned Win 7 is doable, with a fair bit of configuration and 3rd party software.
I didn't care for Windows 8 at first either, but right now, after all the latest updates and quite a lot of tuning I feel it's the most powerful and most stable system I've run at my company.  I just finished a 14 hour work day developing
software, collaborating online, running heavy applications like Photoshop (we do graphics software development), doing research, and my system just sailed through it all with not even the slightest hiccup.
Windows 8.1 is finally mature and can (just barely) be coerced into being a damned nice desktop system.
