Is garage band included on 10.6 OS and hdmi display issues?

Imac, 17 inch display, 2.0 GHz, 1GB ram two issues.  Can I connect an hdmi second display (hidef tv) through the thunderbolt port and does garage band come with OS 10.6.  Can't find garage band anyplace and the second display when plugged in to an aftermarket thunderbolt to hdmi adapter sees the hdmi display but won't mirror.  I have a clean install of 10.6 and can't get past these two issues. Any help please.

Here's the issue.  I can only get 3 meg d/l speed and that drops to as low as .5 meg at times.  I can link my MacBook Pro to an hdmi hi def 1080 thru a Devi connector and all works fine.  I run Netflix and the MacBook buffers the content so if the speed lags the show doesn't stop.  I came across this iMac and was hoping to do the same thing.  I bought an Apple TV 2 nd gen and it just stops and stalls due to no buffering.  So that's not working.  If I can connect the iMac to the larger Vizio with hdmi inputs, 1080 hi def I would allow the iMac to run my Netflix and not ruin here MacBook by letting it run continuously.  I used the MacBook on a smaller 14" and the 26" Vizio with no problems.  The iMac won't see either one though in sys prefs it does show the display but won't mirror.  If you, for some reason, just cannot answer the question, just let me know, I appreciate all your help.  I am at a loss but feel certain there is a way to do this.

  • Garage band freezes when opening projects (new and recent)

So everytime I try to open any of the recent projects or create a new project, garageband goes to the load screen and freezes. I thought it might have been a corrupt file but I deleted all my projects and it still hangs. Any ideas?

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the exact same issue and I also just upgraded to Leopard. What's the word?

  • Garage band as final audio polish

I've been recording voice over in imovie, rather than garage band, because I edit both picture and audio at the same time, which is impossible in garage band.
I've noticed that the master volume/track volume settings in GB allows for far greater volume control without distortion than imovie. So I was thinking of sending my finished work to GB for a volume lift and then send it to idvd from GB.
Question: Can you drag multiple GB projects to idvd as you can mulitple imovie projects, creating submenus, etc. with each GB project.
Second question: Does GB increase file size significantly?
Third question: Is there any degradation of picture coming out of GB?
Fourth question: Is it my imagination, or does GB do a better job of raising volume without distortion than imovie?
    Thanks for you help!

Question: Can you drag multiple GB projects to idvd as you can mulitple imovie projects, creating submenus, etc. with each GB project.
If the projects are exported from GarageBand (usually as "Full Quality" files to your "Movie" folder), you can drag multiple files into a single iDVD project either individually or as a group. However, only a single GarageBand project can be "Sent" to an iDVD project since each "Sent" project will open a new iDVD project.
Second question: Does GB increase file size significantly?
Depends on your work flow. Reconverting a GarageBand project file can increase or decrease a content's file size depending on the codec/settings used. Sending a file to iDVD or exporting to Disk at "Full Quality" should not do so since the original video (with or without a chapter text track) is stored in the MOV file container. The main difference between these two work flows is the audio that is included. GarageBand forwards the linear PCM project audio when it "sends" a file to iDVD and saves the project audio in the original audio compression format when it "saves to disk" at "full quality."
Third question: Is there any degradation of picture coming out of GB?
Not if you use one of the work flows that forwards the original video data without re-compression as described above.
Fourth question: Is it my imagination, or does GB do a better job of raising volume without distortion than imovie?
This I can't say. My wife says I have a tin ear and she is probably correct. It does, however, sound much louder to me.

  • IPhoto, Garage Band, etc.

I purchased my Powrebook a year ago. It was bundled with Panther (which included iPhoto and Garage Band). I just got panther and did a "clean install". I notice that the iPhoto and Garage Band applications are no more.
If I do back and wipe out my drive, install Panther and then "upgrade" to Tiger. Will the iPhoto and Garage Band applications remain? More importantly, what is Apple's take on this? I like these applications allot. Maybe Apple could offer a "lite" version of these apps and include these on the OS CD.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
See this user tip on why what you are referring to is called an erase and install:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607614
iLife applications are part of the additional application suite that came with your restore disk. Different models came with different additional application suites. Use http://www.apple.com/support/ 's search engine on the right hand side to determine which article refers to your restore instructions for keywords of:
    restore iLife
When erase and installing all you get installed are the operating system applications with an incomplete iLife. Depending on the age of the Mac, it may mean you get iTunes but no iPhoto, and/or no iMovie. Garageband and iDVD were never included with Mac OS X and always has to be restored after an erase and install. If you just Upgrade or Archive and Install to Tiger without erasing, the iLife applications will remain if they were there on the hard drive to begin with. Only when you erase the operating system do you have to go through the process of restoring the iLife applications that aren't built-in to the operating system.

  • DOES THIS COME WITH GARAGE BAND?

many people say garage should have came on my computer and it did not.
i bought ilife 05 yesterday and it does not have garage band
HOW DO I GET GARAGE BAND!

Garage Band was released with iLife 06 and is not included with iLife 05.
That is not correct; iLife 04 and iLife 05 include GarageBand on the installation DVD. If a CD is being used to install the software, GarageBand and iDVD will not be installed.

  • Garage Band is recognizing ".aif" format loops but not ".aiff" format loops

All of the ".aif"-formatted loops (from Jam Packs, etc.) are showing up fine in the Loop Browser, but other loops I bought from third-party vendors that are in the ".aiff" format are not showing up at all in the loop browser. They are all in the same correct folder for loops on my system along with the working Jam Pack loops. I tried dragging and dropping a bunch of these loops onto the blank space on an open session based on some advice I read on the internet, and Garage Band processed them (and created new instrument tracks on the screen for each loop) but they did not subsequently show up in the loop browser as I had hoped. Do I need to reformat these to ".aif" somehow? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just to follow up, draggging the loop folders into the loop browser didn't work exactly on its own, but I got it to work in the following manner. First I went to the finder and deleted the apple loop indexes in each of the two locations where apple loops are stored in my computer (note to Apple: why multiple different folders for Apple Loops?). Then I dragged all of the Apple Loops that were stored in the second loops folder (in the Library under "Audio") to the first Apple Loops folder. Then I dragged both entire Apple Loops folders (required even though the second one was now empty) into the loop browser. Upon dragging the second one in, Garage Band automatically began reindexing my loops and then everything showed up in the loop browser correctly, finally. Apparently both (or all) locations where Garage Band stores loops must be individually dragged into the loop browser to trigger the reindexing process. This process was harder than it should be and I feel like it represents an annoying bug in Garage Band, in addition to the help from this post I also had to google research the problem for quite some time to figure out this process.

  • Can you disable Audio Units plugins in Garage Band

    Hi:
Installed the Waves V8 installer, and am only using Renaissance Compressor, and the Channel plugins. When I open Garage Band, I get an error message asking me to authorize other plugins in the Waves bundle that I haven't purchased.
Honestly, I only use Garage Band as a quick sketch pad, and would love to know how to disable AU's or the scanning of AU's. Couldn't find anything in the prefrences.
    Thanks!

  • I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band

I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band?

In GarageBand 10.0 and GarageBand '11 are the plugins (Audio Units) installed in
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
What is the GarageBand version? Not all plug-ins are compatible with the newest version GarageBand 10.0
The version number is shown in the "About panel" in the main menu bar: GarageBand > About GarageBand
If you are having the newest GarageBand 10.0, the Audio Units will show in the panel in the Smart Controls of the Track you selected.
Scroll the "Info" pane down all the way or enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the track area upward, until you see theAudio Unit Brick.
Most panes in GarageBand 10.0 can be scrolled.  If you do not see the scroll bars, they will appear automatically, when yous start scrolling. Or enable them permanently in the System Preferences > General > Scroll Bars. This is useful, as long as you do not know yet, which panes have hidden items that will need scrolling, to make them visible.
The Smart Controls need to be enabled in GarageBand Preferences >Audio Midi.
Some Audio Unit plug-ins will no longer work, since the new GarageBand 10.0 is a 64-bit only application; the 32-bit plug-ins are incompatible.

  • Why doesn't Garage Band install?

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite and bought the newest version of Garage Band. It won't install and keeps saying it need to download an essential set of sounds and loops. It always stops and says try again later. What gives?

Contact the Mac App Store and let them know your issue.

  • Beginner garage band question

I put something together (calling it a song is a stretch) in Garage Band for a function at my daughters school. It's supposed to play continuously for about 40 mins. It's 4 minutes long so I want it to loop 10 times. I did share to itunes and was able to get an mp3 on my ipod What is the best way to make this 4 min garage band song loop for 40 mins and play from a cd? Can I set Garage Band to loop 40 times and export to itunes?

IF, the song can be looped seamlessly, You can use the cycle function to make it loop endlessly. Once you have that going to your satisfaction, download a copy of the freeware Wire Tap, which will allow you to record an almost unlimited amount of time (I think it is only limited by the HD space you have availabel, and yes, you are looking at 400 megs easisy!) from any source on your computer. Make sure the very end of the song goes seamlessly to the beginning. Then, simply hit the record button on Wire Tap, and quickly the play button in GB, and then watch the clock. Stop the Wire Tap recording at 40 minutes, and voila! You have a single 40 minute loop of your song to burn to a CD, with no worrying about iTunes settings at all.

  • Garage Band

I have two issues concerning Garage Band.
    1) I cannot find the older version of Garage Band 6.0 for my operating system. Apple has a download of Garage Band for 10.9+, my version is Lion 10.7+.
I am afraid of upgrading to 10.9+ because the reviews are 50% don't do it, and 50% it works great.
    2) If I have a musician that has Garage Band for OS version 10.9+ and can record are the files from the Garage Band Version 6.0 compatible.

To get GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 for Lion, buy an iLife '11 DVD from Amazon or eBay.  It will have an early version of GarageBand '11. You can update   and you can update it from the support page:   GarageBand 6.0.5
    2) If I have a musician that has Garage Band for OS version 10.9+ and can record are the files from the Garage Band Version 6.0 compatible.
The newer GarageBand 10.0.3 can GarageBand 6.0.5 files, but but not vice versa.

  • Garage band video help please

I'm using Garage Band '11 to download youtube videos and then remove the movie track, keep the sound track, and export to itunes as a music only file. How do I delete the original movie from the Mac Video Library? There is no option to do this when I right click and if i highlight the movie track, Track, the delete option is unavailable. After I have deleted the movie portion of the imported file and exported the sound portion am I correct in thinking I have no use for the original imported youtube file? I have 300+ files sitting there which I would like to remove. Thanks.
    OS is 10.9.5
    12.1.0.50 itunes  version

What's your problem? After you learned how to split regions, everything else is just basic Mac technique:
Duplicate a track: Select it, Apple-D.
Copy and paste a region over into another track: Apple-C, select other track, Apple-V (pastes at the position of the playhead). Or: alt-drag the region to create a copy.
Move regions by dragging them with the mouse. Loop by dragging them at the upper right corner (cursor changes).
I can't see anything else that you might need!!
