Is general account user really needed?

Hi.
Is there really a must to creat a general user account? Or the default account with password is enough?
90% of my software comes from Mac App Store, expect Steam, Perian, Flash and Nikon Capture NX 2. I download all of them from their official sites. Always.
I don't have any piracy software. I don't use Java.
Obviously, I don't give my password to anything that I don't know.
What do you think? What do you use?

Contrary to some users beliefs, I only run an Admin account with auto login on my main Macs and only ever setup a guest account if by chance I need to troubleshoot the Admin account.
But that is my prefered setup, other will disagree and have their own advice, so it really is a matter of horses for courses and how you use your Mac and how concerned you are about security, or who else may have access to your Mac.

Back ground. I have a bought my daughter an itouch 4th gen for Christmas. I have set up a new user account on the macbook pro, Set her up a new Apple ID, but I want to share the music. So i did what was said, moved the media folder to a shared folder.
Got the music shared onto her itunes libary, although when I added to Library it transfered all my apps, which I deleted.
I did a trial run of downloading an app, and its not showing in the library? WHY??

I do not have any software for this and up until now have not had a problem....any help is appreciated. I would like a simple but effective solution!

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook. Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever. In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method. It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been). I have never received an email from Google of this nature. I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.

[Locked] Really need help trying to log users

I really need help trying to show when members have logged in. This is my second post and and the code that I was given, didn't work and now I can't get anyone to tell me what is wrong with it. Here is the code and error message:
Error message is "Unknown column 'billsmith' in 'where clause'

I have just discovered that none of my mac account emails have gone to my mail account, but gone to icloud instead. I don't really need icloud and want to turn it off and get my mail back to the mail acct. What do I need to do?

I switched my mobile.me acct to icloud april 24th. since then all of my mail has gone to icloud istead of going into my mail on my computer. I don't really need any syncing and just want my mail to go to the mailbox on my computer. what can I do?

I really need iCloud to work with 10.6

I guess i am yet another Apple user for over 20 years being loyal to the products and purchased quite a lot of them including several rounds of Laptops and every iPhone out there. Now i was also using my .mac account with later turned into mobileme...
...and now turned into iCould.
I don't mind change though, but i really need my data to be snyced on all my machines including my MacBookPro which runs on 10.6.8. This is my main machine, and a lot of software runs on it every day which cannot run on Lion, plus that this machine would face sercious performance issues with Lion, my printer would not work anymore because there are no drivers for a KonikaMinolta 2340 DL, so there are a lot of issues that require this MacBookPro to stay with Snow Leopard, aonther OS that i purchased. I also purchased a MacBook Air 11' with Lion, another investment, and all works together smoothly, why now taking away the syncing with Snow Leopard?
So please Apple, don't make me throw away half of my office and face serious new investments that i cannot effort as of yet to get this to work.
When will iCloud be available for 10.6?
You have told us how easy it is to switch rom PC to Mac since it all runs without any problems and driver hazzle.
Is this still the case?
I'd say then you ought to stick with that promise to ensure that not only new users will be to get onboard, but the loyal once to stay with it too.

This is a user-to-user forum: you're not addressing Apple here.
You can set up Mail manually in Snow Leopard to access iCloud email; it's a slight fudge because the 'wizard' will attempt to connect you to MobileMe as soon as you enter an @me.com address. The process, which includes a workaround for this, is described here:

You may be able to sync your calendars to iCloud by means of an unsupported hack, but you cannot sync Contacts or Bookmarks and iCloud's other facilities will not work. This page outlines the situation when you migrate to iCloud, including a link to the calendar hack:

There is no suggestion whatever that Apple will update Snow Leopard to allow any more access to iCloud than that.

Login - Really really need help..Please

The zip is a login vi. Can someone help me link the user account to a led. Example the first user account would be link to the 1st led. And the second user is link to the 2nd led, and goes on. Please, really need your help.

My first reaction is to create a hash table of the passwords, but I can't find a hash/encryption function anywhere in the labview libraries. Am I just looking in the wrong place?
dnssetup, its better to use local variables than write the values property of each control and indicator. Its faster. Also putting your VIs in a project makes everything a lot easier to manage. Altenbach is right, your program is way over complicated for what you are trying to do, especially the modify pass function. Also, just because you are storing things with the binary file function doesn't mean someone can't just open your "list" file in notepad and read all your passwords. I find it odd you arent using a username/password combination. You are only using a single text string. This is half the security of the other way. Also it prevents passwords from being able to be repeated. So if with your program I try to create a password it will tell me if it already exists! I just write it down and log into someone elses account. See the problem? You might want to read up on some common practices for user account authentication. Try to model your program after log ins you already use. What did it take to register? What happens when you type a password wrong once? What happens after too many incorrect passwords? Right now your security is a hackers dream... which is a bad thing

Do i really need to use a library?

Im currently using picasa for my picture "database" I have all my pictures in separate folders on my dropbox account (in the could and locally). I want to use iPhoto, but do i really need to use a library? Then all my files can't be viewed from alternate locations? Is there any ways to not use libraries?

If you're using Picasa, why do you want to use iPhoto?

Setting Up A New Mail Account User

I am presently the only person using my new Mac and now I need to set up a mail account for my husband. I have him as an additional account user, but could not succeed @ setting up his mail account. Each time we tried to assign a name and password, it wouldn't take it. What do I have to do? I am presently the only Administrator to the account. I also wanted to add the Microsoft Office for Mac to his Dock Station, how do I do this also? Right now it's only in my account. I would really, really and trully appreciate help with this.

You need to clarify some things for me. I need to you separate the use of the terminology of "Apple Mail program" from the use of "a .mac account." They are not the same thing. The Mail application can be used with all sorts of email accounts, and does not require the use of a .mac email account subscription.
If you are speaking of a .mac account, and if the address for your husband is an alias address belonging the one true .mac account, then you have to be signed on to the the real account before the alias can be used, and it is not set up as a separate account, but appears in the drop down menu of available From addresses.
On the other hand, if you have purchased a second, email only, .mac address, then I think that can be set up without the other one being setup in that User Account. But only your main account could access the iDisk for other uses.
If you talking about email accounts, other than .mac, then more info is needed.
As you can see, I need a fuller understanding of your situation to really give a proper answer.

Wifi Syncing really needs a fix. Or at the very least some manual parameters.

After installing IOS5 , itunes 10.5 and making sure eveything works i've come across a snag like many others.
Wi-fi syncing simply doesn't work for me.
I have the option in summary , it is clicked and enabled.
I've followed the trouble shooting guide here : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4062 a few times over.
Still my phone claims not to see the computer itunes is installed on.
On my phone , in settings - general - iTunes Wi-Fi Sync the button is greyed out and under it it says "Sync will resume when "HOUSE-03-PC-05" is available".
It is available LOL , ios stop lying to me.
I have installed a few ping apps , where pinging to the ip of said computer works fine from my phone.
I have disabled my windows firewall to be sure nothing is being blocked by it.
I checked if bonjour still works with other apps that need it. And they work.
Airvideo for example can connect to the computer that has my itunes installed just fine.
I installed "ip scanner" , it seems to discover the netbios name of the "HOUSE-03-PC-05" computer just fine.
The wireless access point I use is a D-link 2100AP, it doesn't block nor firewall anything. . Everything else wifi related I do works fine.
Itunes is running , my power cable is plugged in , and i'm not sitting at the wrong side of the desk while looking at the back of my screen.
I have even started a few tcp server programs of my own making on various ports on the pc itunes is installed on and connected to those ports using issh in telnet mode , and it works just as it's suposed to.
Something really needs fixing when it comes to the phone finding the computer that it uses for syincing.
Maybe the option to indicate the IP to try and connect to would fix it ? is it a resolve issue?
I was thinking the problem could be from uisng hyphens in my netbios names , but i really would doubt that .
Any more ideas on what more I could test for would be apreciated .

I had exactly the same problem and couldn't find the answer anywhere. However after playing a bit I found out that my computer name (i.e. Right click on "Computer" and select properties) contained a hypen. I renamed the computer to delete the hypen, restarted and now it syncs wirelessly like a charm!
Obviously something that apple overlooked which will probably right itself in the next release but should get you up and running fingers crossed!

What does "new actualization" mean?
Do you have Restrictions set that world prevent installing those apps? Settings>General>Restrictions

How to get general account for a billing document ( BSEG) ?

For a billing document to a client , We need to get the general account for each item of the invoice . We based on the field XBLNR of table VBRK to select a document from BKPF with condition : VBRK-XBLNR = BKPF-vbeln . If yes we will get from table BSEG for bseg-vbeln = bkpf-vbeln and bseg-posnr = vbrk-posnr . then get HKONT.
But as you know BSEG is a cluster table, Select directly from this table is extremly long and seems impossible in our case. Could you please show me the way to do this ?
Our main purpose is to get HKONT ( General account ) for a billing document .

Why don't you look into tables BSAD and BSID (Transperant Tables) rather directly hitting BSEG ( Cluster Table)
Pass VBELN (Billing Document) in above two tables and get the doucment numbers and then if you need further info hit BSEG with the data you got from BSAD and BSID
OR else Pass KOART = 'D' while selecting data from BSEG it will help in improving performance

Hi everyone..I really need some help! My computer went in for repair and cleaning. The music in my itunes library at the time was backed up on discs. I had not resynced my ipod touch with computer since that occurred in May of this year. Since then I have purchased an iphone and some new music was purchased as well. My phone has the new music (which is about 100 songs). Yesterday I decided I was ready to get everything organized and put all my music on my ipod and my apps on my phone. I have, as it would appear, reloaded all my music back into my library (a little over 1000 songs) as I can see the music and I can open and play it through itunes. I have resynched my ipod touch. All the music that was on my ipod touch has now been taken off and the only music that synched with it is the music I have purchased since I bought my iphone (only about 100 songs). Can't get all music on my ipod at all. Additionally, my account is not recognizing the touch as one of my devices. Any help at all would be appreciated!

You can contact Apple and request a 1-time redownload of your lost purchases. Of course, they prefer you follow some of these recommendations on backing up your purchases.
I think the e-mail form on this page is the best place to start for requesting the replacement download.

iPads sync to 1 computer only.
All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.
