Is google earth compatible with os x lion?

Lots of discussion on various websites about serious Google Earth problems with OS X Lion. but surprisingly cannot find same topic on Apple discussions -- or am I searching in the wrong place?

i'm having trouble with GE with OS 10.7.4 -
running a MacBook Pro, mid 2011 version, fully updated. neither GE v 6.2 or the earlier v6.1 would work with my computer after attempting several reinstalls. all i get is a white screen on startup, with visible toolbars on the top and left side. it enters full screen mode automatically, and seems to not be able to reduce to a window in the main desktop. i've tried the problem solvers on the google help page, but one of the solutions involves going to the "library->cache->google earth" under user name, but there's no "library" file there.
is the problem with my browser? (firefox 13.1, recently upgraded from 12.x)
is the problem that i'm using multiple spaces?
do i have too little graphic power? (pretty new computer, i'd be surprised?)
help....!!!
system info available if think it will help...

Is google earth compatible with mountain lion?

I just installed the plug-in for the first time. Works in Safari but not Firefox (asks you to install the plug-in), even after restarting my Macbook Pro.
So I agree with the OP that it's not compatible with Mountain Lion

  • Is iDVD from iLife 11 compatible with OS X Lion 10.7.3?

I recently bought a 21.5" Mid 2011 iMac and was surprised to find out that iDVD was not included. I am considering buying iLife 11 for $49.99 just for iDVD but I am not clear as to whether or not iDVD is even compatible with OS X Lion 10.7.3 ... Any info/feedback/help/suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

At this point I will probably deal with not having it or just get Toast from Roxio. Since Apple is phasing out iDVD who knows if it will just become incompatible eventually anyway.
I have both Toast and iDVD.  IDVD is vastly superior for making movies.
IDVD is not being phased out by Apple. They have simply stopped including it with new computers. Apple currently sells iDVD as part of iMovie 11 in the Apple Store. It is also available from Amazon.
It is unlikely that iDVD will become incompatible anytime in the next few years.  All Mac OSs and updates are tested for compatibility with iDVD.

the older version of Photo Shop is no longer supported.
Don't know which version you mean, but if you mean PSE, then versions 6 and up will work.
You can't migrate any version of PSE, though, from one disk to another. It must be installed freshly on each machine, since adobe doesn't care about the apple developer guidelines and PSE is not a tidy mac app package--the PSE installer strews stuff all over your hard drive, and you can never move it and get all the necessary bits.
What I was talking about is if you had a computer with 10.6 or 10.7 and PSE installed on it and then upgraded to mountain lion. In that case it's essential to go into the user library and delete any existing preference files before running it after installing 10.8.
The instructions to install PSE in mountain lion are to put the disc the drive or to double click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it, and then to run the installer.

  • When are you going to make GOOGLE TOOLBAR compatible with the latest version of firefox, i will not update to version 8 until its compatible

    Question
When are you going to make GOOGLE TOOLBAR compatible with the latest version of firefox, i will not update to version 8 until its compatible

It's not going to happen. Google announced withdrawal of their Google Toolbar.
Using Google Toolbar features without toolbars - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    :http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Google_Toolbar_features_without_toolbars
The Google Toolbar will not be updated for Firefox 5 or later Firefox versions. ([http://googletoolbarhelp.blogspot.com/2011/07/update-on-google-toolbar-for-firefox.html reference]) Google finally decided that their [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions problematic extension] is beyond repair for the little benefit added for Firefox users. Google as with other browsers is eliminating or making toolbars less accessible.
Consider the features that you are using and see if you can match up features from the list created by Google and by Firefox users.

  • Google Earth compatibility with MAC?

I'm surprised to see so little discussion regarding Google Earth & the MAC platform. I've checked with Google and have searched several forums. Everyone agrees there's a problem, but who can offer a remedy - or even a theory? I have an IMac 5.1 running OSX 10.4.11, and the only thing that's worked for me so far is to blow away the Google Earth application & then install it again. I just do that each time it quits working, but it's getting old, and it's a pain having to set up preferences etc. each time. Do I just resign myself to the idea that, because I have a MAC, I can't use this awesome little tool?

Hi, Jimmy. I recently discovered that my old version of Google Earth — 3.1.0617.0, the last version that ran in Panther — no longer connects to GE's database, and when I try to open it I get a "Required Update" notice. This will finally provide the impetus for me to upgrade to Tiger or maybe even Leopard, both of which I've happily ignored so far. Panther has been a great OS, doing everything I needed or wanted it to, but I've realized for some time that eventually the system requirements of some application (or version of an application) I couldn't do without would probably force me to upgrade my OS. Google Earth is that app for me.

  • Google Earth Freezes with Intel Graphics

I'm using an I7 K2700 Sandy Bridge. Google Earth shows funny fragments before a picture stabilizes and if you dare to zoom to quick it freezes the whole X-server.
Unfortunately also no log entry. My previous PC with NVIDIA video and closed source driver worked perfectly with Google Earth.
Doubting the 3D acceleration I tried using "Neverball", which works perfectly.
Any suggestions I could try out?

    Thanks, that's my trouble too!
"When i downgrade lib32-intel-dri lib32-libgl to 7.11 version everything seems to be OK."
Since so far this is the only conclusion which is not a really clean solution we might keep this issue open.
If Google Earth is incompatible to the latest versions of lib32-intel-dri and lib32-libg there isn't much the AUR maintainer can do.

Why do you feel that you need a USB modem? I would think that you should be able to use a standard ADSL modem, connecting it to your phone line on one end and via Ethernet to your Mac Pro at the other end.

  • Any idea on when Audition CS5.5 will be compatible with Mac OSX Lion

    Hi
Any idea on when Audition CS5.5 will be compatible with Lion ?
Will they let us know through this forum or on the main product page ?
    Thanks

I've seen this before on a Theatre Sound Mailing List I subscribe to.
Every time Apple issue an updated operating system there's a flurry of questions about all sorts of sound recording, editing and playback software that no longer works.  This moves to a flurry of "this update now works but that one doesn't" posts then, eventually everything settles down just in time for Apple to issue a new upgrade.
I don't understand why they do things this way but it's one of the reasons I stick to Windows and never wish to move to Apple products.  Their disregard for their customers (or are they acolytes?) is astounding.

I'm debating whether or not to buy the OS X Lion, and it all depends on if Microsoft Office is compatible with it. Has anyone ever had problems using the Microsoft Office with the new OS X Lion software?

I have had no problem using Office 2011 since upgrading to OS X Lion, but I am unable to install any Office 2011 updates. I have spent a lot of time searching for the solution at both Apple and Microsoft, but so far cannot find one.
