Is GPU used at all?
Does lightroom profit in any way from graphics card acceleration (2D or 3D). Is a fast card better in any way than a slow one? I mean not for adjustments, but for scrolling or navigating and zooming.

Don't believe the hype...while you do, in effect, have a separate super fast CPU with ram in the form of recent high end vid cards, what the CPUs are optimized for simply doesn't translate all that well into 2D use. They are optimized for high computational tasks such as 3D polygons (think gaming) and not ram intensive processor routines such as pixel based digital imaging. Some things CAN be made faster and by a lot, but other things simply don't scale to the current implementations of the cards.
Add to that the difficulty of doing this cross-platform (which Adobe has to do) and what "may" work well on one OS, may not work at all on the other platform-requiring that SOMEBODY fill in the blanks-and so far the vid card makers haven't been keen on doing that.
Apple Core Image is an example. Yes, some things in Core Image are made real fast because of the GPU-but, the same vid card on a PC gets no benefit because the GPU is an OS level implementation. Whose gonna make up the difference?
The vid card makers are going to need to work that stuff out so the GPU is more cross-platform and put hooks into the cards that make it easier for apps-things like Photoshop and Lightroom to take advantage of them.

I recently upgraded to windows 10 via windows update and did a clean install after the upgrade. Installed all the neccesary drivers etc etc. The usual drill. I consider myself rather tech savy.
After a few days of casual gaming with LoL i noticed that my Nvidia GTX 860M GPU was not being used AT ALL, only the integrated Intel HD 4600.
This was further proved to be right after I installed Path of Exile and kept getting BSODs each time after around 10 minute of playing with various error messages revolving around the file "igdkmd64.sys". I've tried completely deleting the drivers using safe mode and the driver cleaner program and reinstalling other drivers (ex. the lenovo driver dated 14/7. ) with no luck.
I've tried all the settings within intel hd graphics and nvidia controlpanel. I've also tried checking BIOS. No luck there either.
Both of the GPU's also show up in device management without any issues.
I also tried disabling the intel hd graphics within device managent which resulted in the basic adapters being used and my screen looks bad... My current Nvidia driver is 353.62. I'll post some various screenshots here:

This shows up when I try to check Nvidia display settings when intel HD graphics is DISABLED in device management. It basically translates to:
"Nvidia displays ettings are not available. You're not using a display connected to a Nvidia GPU"

Can provide further information if required. Not sure what you need to know, but bottom line is that my GTX 860M GPU is not being used for anything at all.
i'm assuming that all I can do for now is to either wait for updated drivers from lenovo or to roll back to windows 8.1 (Works fine in win 8.1)?More than a fix I think it has more to do with the graphics drivers and in some cases Windows 10 installation issues.
About the Graphics drivers,
Try uninstalling the NVIDIA GPU in Control Panel > Device manager
Uninstall everything related to NVIDIA in Control Panel > Prgrams & Features
Restart the system and wait for it to install the NVIDIA GPU again.
I would also advise that you try older drivers, if they are available.
About Windows 10 Installation,
I have installed Win 10 twice now. In my previous Win 10 installation my system was running slow, Cortana was not working and couple more issues.
In current installation, everything is working great till now.
What I did different in second installation -
I installed all drivers upgrades for Win 8.1
All windows updates for Win 8.1 before upgrading to Win 10
I downloaded Win 10 ISO and started Win 10 setup from a bootable USB (by running Setup file while logged into windows 8.1)
During upgrade, I did not Apply Updates for Win 10 (Selected the bottom option)
Then windows installed normally
Updates to Win 10 were applied after installation.

HD6850 Cyclone OC high GPU use on idle, low FPS and stutter in games
Hello,
Sometime in November I got myself a new graphics card, an MSI 6850 (this one). Beforehand I'd been using an HD4770 for several years with no problems at all.
It ran pretty perfectly for about a month and then I started getting graphics issues with Battlefield 3. Before the problems started I was regularly getting 30-40FPS at 1920x1080 and most things on High. When the issues start I seem to get 5-15FPS regardless of the resolution or quality settings, and sometimes parts of the game don't render at all (the gun doesn't render or other players don't render for a few moments and then just appear out of nowhere). I get similar problems with X3: Albion Prelude. The other tell-tale issue is that if I try to watch a DVD or live TV using Windows media centre the video is laggy and stuttery. Everything else with the machine (like sound) is fine.
What I've noticed is that if I use MSI Afterburner to keep an eye on the GPU that even basic things cause a spike in the % GPU usage. If I load media centre the % GPU usage quickly hits 100% and hovers around there. The GPU temperature stays around 45-50°C with the fan speed at 50%, so this isn't an overheating issue.
I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers, but it happened with the last version as well. A couple of times I've tried to uninstall them and reinstall them but that seems to kill the drivers in the process: the screen turns mainly black with a few sprays of colour and windows half render. If I load the machine up in safe mode at that point everything looks normal, so it seems to be a driver problem. If I try to uninstall the drivers in Safe mode via the Catalyst uninstall option it tells me that it fails to load the detection driver and the only thing in the list of installed components is one of the Microsoft C++ redistributables.
I've tried reformatting my machine and reinstalling Windows, doing clean installs of the drivers (with Driver Sweeper) and reinstalling the drivers onto a HDD instead of the SSD the OS is on. The issues just comes back after a day or two of usage.
The only odd thing I've been able to find is that DXDiag reports the card as having 2803MB of memory even though it is supposed to be a 1024MB card. I've not overclocked the card or any other part of my machine.
Small edit: if I take the HD6850 out and replace it with my old HD4770, the HD4770 doesn't have any of these problems. If I put the HD6850 back in the problems return.
If anyone has any ideas why this is happening I'd really love to hear them, it's driving me nuts.

Did you have afterburner loaded before these issues happened? I've read that people have noticed odd things like this with MSI's software loaded in the background.
Recently I've been loading it up first, but the issues started before I had afterburner really. I'm just using it now to keep an eye on things, but I'll try not touching AB after booting just in case.
I thought I'd fixed it after reinstalling a load of drivers, but it has come back again 24 hours or so later: I'm getting 65-75% GPU use just typing on FireFox. Damn frustrating.
I may be able to test it in someone else's machine if I can convince them to let me take over it for the coming weekend. I've no idea what to do if it isn't the card though, I've already done everything right down to a complete format and reinstall.
Update: Nope, the problems begin even without afterburner. -

I am using mutiple select queries to fetch data from Project Server 2010 DB(its sharepoint DB) and these queries fetch data in Excel BI report by establishing connection with DB using instance name and all. I have enhance all these select queries and data
is being fetched in secs. but when more than one copy of same Excel BI report is refreshed using 'Refresh All' option, then these select queries cause blockage on DB.
Please let me know mitigation for this blockage issue.
Should I use begin transaction and commit transaction statements/ shared lock statements.

i started my photoshop touch after some while and now i cant find the magnetic lasso tool it used to be there i used it all the time for editting but now i cant find it maybe i disabled it somehow. can anyone tell how to enable it again?
I honestly don't remember a magnetic lasso tool. (I've been using PS Touch since version 1.0.) The closest things I can think of are the Quick Selection Tool, the Scribble Selection Tool and the Magic Wand Tool, all located under the same set of tools (3rd set from the top in the tool panel).

How can i use up all discontinued parts stock before follow up material has been valid by using engineering change management when the change comes into effect on valid to date?

My iCal has frozen when I tried to add a cut and paste to the calendar for notes on a meeting I'm attending. I have to force quit but the next time I open it is still frozen and everything I've tried doesn't erase the message so I can continue using. Can't use at all. Help!

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version. I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues. During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
Runtime error!
Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer. I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:

I did not leave anything out from the error message. It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..." Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue? I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse. I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!Hi lustyln,
