Is Hard Reset Needed?

I have an AirPort express for iTunes that works fine on one computer (PB) but cannot be seen at all by another computer (MBP). Does the fact that the AX is working for one suggest that the problem is in the settings of my MBP rather than in the AX -- I don't want to hard reset and redo the AX settings if the problem is elsewhere.

I tried logging into the AirPort Express from my MPB but it didn't work using the Air Port utility -- the connection timed out. More information: I've got the AX set up just for iTunes, and it generally does not show up when I do a wireless scan even from the PB where it is working. It will show up there if I do the scan from Airport Admin Utility, however. As far as I can tell, the only differences between the two computers is that the PB is running OSX 10.4.11 while the MBP is running 10.5.5. And both computers worked before I upgraded to iTunes 8.
I don't know the range of causes that would basically BLIND the MBP from seeing the signal from the AX, but it seems to be something that is happening outside of the AX settings and outside of iTunes.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

    I had not used my iPod touch in about a month.  It was on the dock during that time.   I have two problems.  One is that I keep having to do a hard reset to turn it on.  Second is that once it is turned on (and it indicates there is a full charge) iTunes will not play any of the songs selected.  I select, the app appears as though it will begin playing the song, but then stops as soon as the song begins and reverts back to the selection screen.  After a few minutes of this, the iPod goes dead again.  Is this a battery issue?  If so, can it be fixed and is it worth the $$ to fix?

    Yes it sunds like a bad battery.  I would mak an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to verify.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like this one is less expensive.  Google for others.

  • Full crash with graphic degredation and audio looping. Hard reset needed.

    I haven't seen anything else like this posted so perhaps it's an isolated issue. However, I've been running my new late 2008 MacBook Pro for about a week and over the past couple days have had it start hard crashing on me. The graphics will freak out and the audio will stop what's playing and loop over. The computer is completely crashed.
    This has happened running on both the 9400 and the 9600 graphics cards. Also, I've had it happen with and without an external display connected.
    Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Here's a pic I snagged of what it looks like when the computer crashes. Sometimes the screen freaks out and sometimes it doesn't.

    You have 3 options:
    1. Call Applecare
    2. Go to a Genius Bar
    3. Do it yourself--no guarantees on this one! I don't like the look of the screen, and tend to think it is a hardware problem, notwithstanding the results of hardware test. Genius Bars have more extensive tools. If you belong to AppleCare you have a TechTool Deluxe disk that can run some tests as well. Archive and install (rather than erase and install) is an option, but my money is against it. All in all, I would call applecare first, then go to a genius bar.

    Hard reset (the three key code/reset). Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green/talk key, the * key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the nokia hands logo/nokia boot up screen.
    For 5800 XM hard reset need different keys/buttons. The green/talk key, the red key and the camera key/button. The process is the same.Warning!You will lose all your phone's data!

    You've encountered activation lock.
    There is no way to bypass it. If you can't get hold of whoever you bought it from, just turn it over to the police.  It's probably a stolen phone.

    Going to Apple is pointless. They will not do anything to help. Activation lock is an anti-theft feature.
    If the seller "forgot" the pasword for her Apple ID, then she needs to re-set it so that it can be used to unlock the phone. If she says she can't for some reason, demand your money back. If she refuses, I stand by the statement that the phone is most likely stolen.
    The phone is completely useless without the Apple ID and password.

    I can´t imagine that you beta-tested IOS8 on the IPAD3?

    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (B) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

    In my experience I've found that when I don't do the reset before and after I invariably have problems. For example when I updated my N97 to the v22 firmware the auto-rotate function stopped working properly.
    I actually also remove all apps and format the mass storage prior to the firmware update which ends up taking a ridiculously long time with the reloading of my media and maps but I now realize that I'll end up having to do it anyway so I might as well do it properly the first time.
    It could just be the N97 as it's such a hunk of junk but I think it's more likely that it's an issue with the update process in S^1.

    PowerBtn will allow you to set a HardButton to turn the TX on and off in the same fashion as the PowerButton, if you want.
    This setting will remain active while 'Enable' on the PowerBtn screen is active.
    The user can select 'Disable' on the PowerBtn screen.
    The setting will survive a Soft Reset. (Hi PG )
    If the Palm PowerButton fails completely then you will not be able to do a Hard Reset.
    The PowerBtn app has a 'Hard Reset button' which you tap and after a time countdown (you can cancel in this time) it will perform a Hard Reset. This is the same as the Hard Reset app mentioned above.
    The 'Enable' and 'Disable' mentioned above do not affect the 'Hard Reset button'
    NOTE: PowerBtn also has a 'Program itself becomes power button' feature but I do NOT recommend you use this.
    If you enable this you will not be able to change the setting or use the 'Hard Reset button' because when you Tap on the PowerBtn Icon the TX will turn Off. The only way to change the setting or use the 'Hard Reset button' would be to Delete PowerBtn then install again.
    You can also turn your TX On by pushing the 5WayNav Select (middle button) to bring up the clock then double push it. The TX will stay on at the same place it was in when you turned it off, in the same way it would if you used the Power Button

    It sounds like your phone is stuck at the spinning gear icon on the screen after Erasing all Content and Settings on your device. I would start by resetting the device with this process:
    To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    You need to do a clean install of Windows on it. The hdd has drivers for completely different hardware. Too bad you didn't make your Recovery disc set. It would restore the hdd to HP with all drivers/software installed. That would depend on if the hdd is at least the same capacity or larger than the original.   • Phone really slow and needing hard reset all the time now.

    I recently updated my Droid Razr Maxx HD to the latest OTA.  Since then it has become very slow and unstable.  Every two or three days I will have to perform a hard reset.  Going to the apps page is fine sometimes then other times it takes forever to load.  Has anyone else had problems like this and if so have you been able to fix it?

        Update are meant to improve your device gabriellundy! I know how frustrating it must be to have to complete a hard reset on your phone multiple times. Have you tried running your phone on safe mode with out any applications? I would recommend to try this to determine if a third party app is causing issues to your device.     OK ... so I just restarted and opened Safari first ... no spinning ball. And I opened mail after hitting the rebuild, well, I'm missing messages from Dec. 24 - now, but it opened right away. Most messages are FB feeds, so it's not like I've lost anything important. So, initial thoughts ...   • Galaxy S6 Dead....needs to be hard reset to function.

    In the past 4 months my S6 has been dead when I woke up in the morning. Sometime during the night it shuts down. I have to do the hard reset (Home button, power button and volume down button) to get it to respond. The first and second time it happened I got a software update with in a day or two. The last 2 times have been with in a week of each other and today being the most recent. I go on call every 4 weeks and having a phone that may shutdown and become non-responsive is not a headache I need to deal with. I have checked Google to see if there are others with this problem and it seems to be a common issue. Anyone else having this issue? When it is non-responsive (Black screen and will not power on) the LED light is blinking blue. A steady blue, once about every 2 to 3 seconds. I tried to call my phone this morning and last weekend when it did this and the phone does not ring but I don't go right to voicemail either.  The 3 button reset works but I use my phone for the alarm and it's my oncall number.  Please advise
