Is heap memory is particular for a workprocess?and extended memory too?
All the while I need to know is :is more than one workprocess can be in Priv mode?
Yes - heap is workprocess exclusive memory.
Extended memory is shared on the instance.
Yes - more than one WP can go to PRIV mode.

I forgot my passcode for my iPhone and I had too much content to back it up in iCloud. How can I unlock my phone without having to restore it? I don't want to lose all my contacts and messages.
You can't. The ONLY solution is to restore the device. If there were an easy way around the passcode lock, it wouldn't serve much purpose, would it?

Mesage type for outbound mail and extended notification
3 month ago I used Extended Notification. All was correct.
Now in tr SOST when workflow item was created I see in front of outbound item message type Q and sending time "in 1 hour". But in the past there is message type I (and message class type was XS and now SO)
Where can I change (or bask situation) Q on I and resolve this situation and how?
In my wf I switch off deadline monitoring, but no result.
In SBWP all is correct.Hi,
If any message in waiting status, then it will have message type Q and message class SO.
If any message is in sent or transmitted status, then message type would be I and message class XS.
Error status msg type E and msg class XS.
From the above, you will come to know that your workflow items are in waiting status.
To change it from Q to I and SO to XS, ask your basis guys to do the required changes in exchange server so that all of them will be sent to the corresponding recipients.

Find heap memory Size for Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0
Hi All ,
We need to gather data for sizing inputs.For Adaptive processing server , we can find same by going in CMC> Server > APS > Properties & check value for the parameter -Xmx . Could you please tell how to find the max heap memory allocated for a Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0 as for Webi server this parameter is not maintained. ?
Regards ,
AbhinavHi Abhinav,
The maximum threshold is a value which may reach on peak usage and Webi processing server cannot occupy memory beyond this value at any time.
In your situation 9 Webi Processing servers with 16 GB of RAM on server is not recommended. This is because consider situation with total 16 GB of host RAM.
4 GB should left for OS
Tomcat will need minimum 2 GB for 200 users
So you are left with 10 GB RAM for all BO services
Now 9 Webi Processing servers with 6 GB of Threshhost will not work here
For this configuration you can have 2 Webi Processing servers with default threshold should be running on single host.

Heap Memory Issue in weblogic 9.2 for a JSF 1.1 web application
Hi,
We are running a JSF application (Myfaces, facelets, tomahawk, richfaces & iBATIS) in weblogic 9.2 server on Solaris 10. This application is deployed in production and works fine under normal circumstances. But when there is a heavy user load we are facing a memory issue. The memory usage is gradually increasing and when it reaches to max, Full GC kicks in again & again which choks up all requests. We don't save anything in session scope. All our backing beans are saved in request scope hence they should be garbage collected after each request done, but this is not happening.
We took the heap dump from production after this issue and analyzed it. After my analysis, I found all objects which are set in request object not being garbage collected and the root referers of all these objects is weblogic.servlet.internal.MuxableSocketHTTP.
I reproduced the similar behaviour in one of our development environment using JMeter. I ran 100 concurrent users in JMeter for almost 1 hour and saw the similar behaviour. Below is the result of all weblogic objects which are still hanging in heap after test was over (I also ran manual Garbage Collector from admin server).
1) weblogic.servlet.internal.MuxableSocketHTTP - 1774 objects - retained heap (1 GB)
2) weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletRequestImpl - 1774 objects - retained heap (1 GB)
My understanding is that every request made to weblogic server goes through the MuxableSocketHTTP object which creates the ServletRequestImpl to serve it. Once the request is served these objects are suppose to be removed. As a result of that whatever is saved in your request will still be hanging.
I am not able to understand why these objects are hanging after request is done. Could anybody answer to my question. I appreciate your help in advance.
The GC setting for weblogic server while startup is:
-XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -XX:+PrintTenuringDistribution -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xms3g -Xmx3g -XX:NewSize=512m -XX:MaxNewSize=1024m
Thanks MaKKWhat happened with this issue? We are seeing something similar on WebLogic 9.2 MP1 in Solaris (Jdk 1.5. patch 10. 32 bit). Out of Memory's with thousands if instances of weblogic.socket.MuxableSocket hanging around.
Our thinking was initally the Java heap, then we thought that maybe the sockets weren't being closed properly, possible in WebLogic or in LiveCycle.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What is the best heap memory setting for JBoss?
I am running a Windows 2003 server and JBoss is running as service. The current heap configurations is 1024, but I am having some problems with the service failing. What is the optimal heap memory setting? Thank you,
There is no optimal memory setting for LiveCycle.
It depends on the components you have chosen to deploy. If Content Services ES2 is deployed, your heap size settings should be about 2 GB, otherwise 1.0 - 1.7 GB might suffice.

Threaded inner classes & heap memory exhaustion
(_) how can i maximize my threading without running out of
heap memory?
push it to the limit, but throttle back before an
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.
(_) within 1 threaded class ThreadClass, i have two threaded inner classes. for each instance of ThreadClass i only
start one instance of each inner class.
and, i start hundreds of ThreadClass, but not until the previously running ThreadClass object exits, so only one should be running at any given time.
so, what about threaded inner classes?
are they good? bad? cause "OutOfMemoryErrors"?
are those inner threads not dying?
what are common causes of:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: java heap space?
my program runs for about 5-minutes, then
bails with the memory error.
how can i drill down and see what
is eating-up all my memory?
thanks.A Thread class is not the same as a thread of
execution. Those inner class based threads of
execution are not dying.maybe. but this is the way i test a thread's life:
public void run() {
System.out.println("thread start");
System.out.println("thread dies and release memory");
}for each inner thread, and the outer thread, this approach for
testing thread life reveals that they die.
Why don't you use a thread pool?ok. i will think about how to do this.
>
If not, you need to ensure those inner threads have
exited and completed.what is a 100% sure check to guarantee a thread exits other than
the one i use above?
note:
the outer thread is running on a remote host, and the inner threads
are running locally. here are the details:
public class BB implements Runnable, FinInterface {
public void run() {
// do some work on the remote machine
private void startResultsHandler(OisXoos oisX) {
ResultHandler rh = new ResultHandler(oisX);
rh.start();
public void startDataProxy(OisXoos oisX, String query) {
DataProxy dp = new DataProxy(oisX, query);
dp.start();
public class ResultsHandler extends Thread {
// runs locally; waits for results from servers
public void run() {
ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(oisX.input);
Set result = (Set) ois.readObject();
} // ____ class :: _ ResultsHandler _ :: class ____
public class DataProxy extends Thread {
// runs locally; performs db queries on behalf of servers
public void run() {
ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(oisX.output);
while(moreData) {
.... // sql queries
oos.writeObject(data);
StartResultsHandler(oisX);
} // _____ class :: _ DataProxy _ :: class _____
}now, the BB class is not started locally.
the inner threads are started locally to both service data requests
by the BB thread as well as wait for its results.
(_) so, maybe the inner threads cannot exit (but they sure look
like they exit) until their parent BB thread exits.
(_) yet, those inner threads have no knowledge that the BB
thread is running.
externalizing those inner thread classes will put 2-weeks of work
in the dust bin. i want to keep them internal.
thanks.
here this piece of code that controls everything:
while(moreData) {
FinObjects finObj = new BB();
String symb = (String) data_ois.readObject();
OisXoos oisX = RSAdmin.getServer();
oisX.xoos.writeObject(finObj);
finObj.startDataProxy(finObj, oisX, symb);

How to increase the Heap space of Jdeveloper for about more than 512 MB?
When starting JDeveloper, the application within JDeveloper is throwing the error message:
"could not reserve enough space for object heap"
and a windows popup with the following error message:
"Unable to create an instance of the Java Virtual Machine Located at path: ..\..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll "
To resolve these issues, i know that adding the following in ide.conf , jdev.conf will help.
AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=512M
AddVMOption -Xmx512M
AddVMOption -Xms512M
I have got 10 GB of RAM in my desktop machine and virtual memory of 15 GB (page size). I am not able to increse the heap space of Jdeveloper for about more than 512MB. This is really frustrating..I had to restart my jdevloper after 3 or 4 deployments.....Has anyone tried success in increasing the heap space in jdeveloper for about 2 GB?
Regards
Prasath.CYes, i know that -XX:MaxPermSize has nothing to do with Heap Memory. I Just pasted all my configuration settings to know if some thing or the other has caused the issue.... After hearing few people who increased the heap space to more than 512m , i played with those settings again and figured out few things...Mine is Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4, 64 bit Windows 7 environment, 64 bit Java/ JDK.
First, i was deceived by one suggestion in forum that, keeping max and min heap memory to same size always will yield in good performance...From that time on wards, i was always increasing both and was never able to move more than 512m..But this time, i kept the min memory as constand and kept on changing the max memory ..
Jdev.conf
AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=512M
AddVMOption -Xmx972M (I was never able to increase more than this size, though i have around 10GB RAM, if not Jdev doesnt startup)
AddVMOption -Xms512M
Ide.conf
AddVMOption -Xmx2048M (here i was able to increase)
AddVMOption -Xms512M
But even then, i was not seeing my changed settings at the time of deployment...
starting weblogic with Java version:
java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b51)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode)
Starting WLS with line:
C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\JDK160~1\bin\java -client -Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Dweblogic.Name=DefaultServer ..........
Then i changed again into
setDomainEnv.cmd of my default domain
set USER_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Then i stared my deployment...this time i could see a real boost in deployment...and my page was launched in a fraction of minute..
tarting weblogic with Java version:

What is it supposed to do with your request to use 256m of memory for heap
when you are not giving it a class or a jar to run? -

So I think that if can off JVM heap Memory used in the Near-Cache front-tier?
Or can help how to config the off JVM heap Memory used in the Near-Cache front-tier.
Thanks.Only local-scheme and class-scheme can be used in the front-scheme of a near cache.

What's consuming the app server heap memory?
Dear all,
I keep getting the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space" error in our environment, I tried to remove the BAM from the Jboss, and the error disappear for some times, but it appear again recently, while we only changed one line of script in one of the form. (i.e. I don't think the error is caused by changing code)
So, I would like to know where can I find some information about how the memory is consumed in ALC? Because we only have 2 workflow running, although one of them is heavily used.
Here some information about my environment.
- ALC 8.2.1 with no sp
- Using the default Jboss as app server
- Using the default MySQL as Database
- Only 2 workflow running
- While 1 of them have around 4 - 8 request pre week
- And the others will have around 60 - 80 request pre day (i.e. around 490 pre week)
Here listed some points I think may affect the memory and I want to know for sure:
1) Number of variable used in long-live process (i.e. More variable = more Memory used)
2) Number of operation used in long-live process (i.e. More operation = more memory used)
3) Number of track record of long-live process (i.e. More track record = more memory used)
4) Long-lived process vs Short-lived process (i.e. Only long-lived process will keep consume memory because short-lived process will only load on call?)
5) Number of long-lived process still running (i.e. If we send a assign task to notify the user the workflow have been approved, and the user never dismiss it, it will turn out to consume the app server memory because it is still in the running stage)
6) Old version of the same long-lived process will use memory even no active workflow? (i.e. Because active long-live process will load up into memory?)
Thanks in advance
Regards
BillDid you tried to increase your heap size in jboss server . try this and i think it will help you in solving this problem .
if u want to know how to increase the heap size:
go to bath of ur JBoss "D:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES2\jboss\bin" as example.
scond find the Run file and open it in Text File
find a line which is responsible for heap size ==>>"set JAVA_HEAP_ARGS=-XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"
close it and restart the server again and test your problem.
put ur line to be like what i wrote 1024 means that 1 giga for heap of jboss.
if the problem still appear for you then your Memory doesnot of because memory heap size -

We are running out of Heap memory and seeing lots of full GC and out of memory events
Verbose GC is on.
Users don't know what they are doing to cause this
We have 30-40 users per server and 1.5 GB heap memory allocated
There are no other applications on the machine. Only the PRD instance with 1.5 GB allocated to the JVM. We do not have any issue with memory on the server and we could increase the heap but we dont want to go over the 1.5 GB since that is what I understood to be the high end of what is recommended. we only have 30-40 users on each machine. There are 8 servers and a typical heavy usage day we may have 1 or two machines that have the out of memory or continuous full GC in the logs. When this occurs the phones light up with the people on that machine experiencing slowness.
below is an example of what we see in a file created in the OPMN log folder on the JAS server then this occurs. I think this is the log created when Verbose GC is turned on. I can send you the full log or anything else you need. Thanks

How to figure out the size of an object - java out of heap memory error
Hi all,
I am using an object that I found in a library that I didn't create so I don't know its internal state or members.
I created a single one of these objects and I call announce() on this object which just sends a UDP announcement over the channel to notify listeners. However, after a message #124,288 I get a java out of heap memory error.
I am wondering if this announce() method is causing the state of the object to grow with every call...it seems unlikely but I want to check to see if it's reserving a growing amount of heap memory without ever allowing it to free.
My question is how can I check how big the object is within my program? I'd like to check, for instance, at every 10,000 messages sent how much memory the object is taking up. Is there a method call for that? Would I have to use some kind of debugger or memory monitor? I would like something easy to use.
Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I say it's unlikely that the methods I call are filling up heap memory because I have one Message object. This one Message has a myMsg String member. Whenever I want to change the message I call myMsg = "anewstringhere". And then I do myMessageObject.announce(); And for that reason i say I only have one Message object. The only thing added to the heap would be the strings that I replace myMsg with. The old references to myMsg are no longer valid and should be garbage collected..
Unless of course if you are calling intern() on them.
so here's my train of thought (and this isn't what my actual code looks like):
myMessageObject.myMsg = "hello" //creates a string on the heap? I assume this is equivalent to saying myMsg = new String("hello")No they are not the same.
The text literal will be in the intern space. Both code fragments would do that.
The second example would create a second instance of String(). That second instance would be cleaned when no longer referenced. But the literal will not.
Is my thought process correct? You are calling a third party library right so mock it (write a simple replacement that does the minimal correct functionality.) Substitute it in your code. And then run. If it still fails then the problem is in your code. If not then it is either in the library or the way that you use the library. -
Allocated heap memory goes up even when there is enough free memory
Hi,
Our Java application's memory usage keep growing. Further analysis of the heap memory using JProbe shows that the allocated heap memory goes up even when there is enough free memory available in the heap.
When the process started, allocated heap memory was around 50MB and the memory used was around 8MB. After few hours, the inuse memory remains at 8MB (slight increase in KBs), but the allocated memory went upto 70MB.
We are using JVM 1.5_10. What could be the reason for heap allocation going up even when there is enough free memory available in heap?
-Rajesh.Hi Eric,
Please check if there is any error or warning in the Event Viewer based on the data time?
If there is any error, please post the event ID to help us to troubleshoot.
