Is High Definition the same as HDV?

is High Def the same as HDV. What is the difference between HDV and mini DV. can someone send me a list of terminology defined. this is really frustrating and confusing. stephen

HDV = High definition Video, which is a recording format which uses MPEG2 compression to fit high-definition content onto the same DV or MiniDV tapes
Mini DV = which is (tape based for camcorder) video in Standard definition.
If you are looking to video in high definition then tape based camcorder is best using mini DV tapes.
You can buy a HD camcorder that records in High definition and also switch to standard definition, most cameras will allow you to do this switch.

  • FP-DI-301: All channels went "HIGH" at the same time.

    Will FP-1001 "Watchdog" settings or FP-DI-301 module/channel settings cause digital inputs to go "High" regardless of the connected swithes positions?
    On 4/29/2009 @ 07:11:30 AM, while running a known good process, all of my FP-DI-301 input channels (48) on a individual network bank went "High"!!!
    I am currently running a "Lookout" process with 6, FP-1001 network banks connected via rs485.  This process has been in operation for more than five years.  On the date in question, maintenance personnel informed me that a machine had gotten jammed and they had cleared the jam and it was now running.  After watching the video playback of the machines operation, I realized that it did not operate as programmed.  I also noticed that three other like machines associated with the same network bank performed EXACTLY the same way at EXACTLY the same time.  All other machines associated with the other 5 network banks functioned normally.
    After reviewing the collected data (citadel 4 database) I found that all of the channels of the DI-301's went "High" together for a period of time, then they reverted to normal operation for a few seconds and then go "High" again in unison.  This back-and-forth continued for aproximately 15 minutes, until the whole process was shutdown and restarted.
    All of the channels are connected to field mounted prox switches, there is no way that all the switches toggled/sensed at the same time.  This has to be a network/module problem.

    A lot have things have happened and have changed.
    Original problem #1:  Lookout 4.0.1 sees my inputs (All 48, DI-301's)@ Fieldpoint address bank "30" turning on and off, staying on, changing state, etc.... for a short period of time.  This problem happened once at the end of April (all came on and stayed on for about 15 minutes) and again about mid-end of May (This time they were blinking on and off).  During the last event I noticed that the actual DI-301 channels were stable and were not changing state like Lookout was seeing.
    I think I have fixed this problem.  It hasn't shown up again and I cannot recreate it.
    What I have done to address the above problem:
    Cleaned out the PC (NT os), uninstalled unneeded programs.
    Reconfigured all fieldpoint 1001 watchdogs.
    Imported my reconfigured IAK file into my fieldpoint object of my Lookout process.  
    Problem #2:  While troubleshooting problem #1; I found, that occasionally upon power-up I would not get my "ready" LED's on my I/O modules of address bank "30" and subsequently red X's would appear on some of my Lookout panels. 
    What I have done to address the above problem:
    If you push on the first I/O module the ready lights will come on.
    I replaced the FP1001 and other modules and terminal bases and this problem would not go away.  I swapped out the FP1001 again, with a known working one from address bank "10", and problem dissapears.  Strange that it does not show up @ address bank "10" now.
    Current problem #3:  Programmed machines associated with address bank "20" (1-FP1001 and 5-RLY420's) will stop for about 10-30 seconds then restart and finish their program.  This may only happen once every 2 days or 3-4 times in one day.  Occassionally I will get a fieldpoint generated alarm "Channel Specific error, DEV:21-24, CH: 00-07, ERR:3"  I even got "Channel Specific error, DEV:22, CH:09, ERR:3".  The RLY-420 module @ this address does not have a channel "9".
    What I have done to address the above problem:
    This is when I found and repaired the corrupt source code, LKS file.  Problem returned the next day though.
    I have found out that the outputs are de-energizing.  That's all so-far.
    Could changing baud rates or poll rates and times help?  Could some sort of weird comm interference cause my outputs to de-energize and not give me a COMM fail?  I am still thinking it is fieldpoint related somehow since the LKS file fix did not help.

  • How can i get the same high definition i see on my iPad to mirror to my tv?

    I am using my LGTV to watch shows I am streaming on my iPad. The iPad is small, the picture quality is great. But when I use airstream to push it through my apple TV, the picture is blurry. I realize I am going from a small iPad screen to a large TV screen, but is there any way to sharpen the larger image?

    The content is the same, it would have nothing to do with going from iPad to ATV. There may be an issue with the network.
    Reboot both devices.
    If on wifi try ethernet
    Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

  • What EXACTLY are the 4 NVIDIA High Definition Audio devices on N570GTX - Win 8.1

    one of my rigs runs an N570GTX on Win 8.1 64bit.
    In Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers, there are 4 "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" listed.
    I use 337.88 drivers (NVIDIA Control Panel version 7.7.760.0).
    What is the purpose of EACH of these 4 devices:
    As a side note, my other rig running an N660GTX on Win 7 64bit only shows 1 "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" in Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

    Okay, by examining the devices (enabling, disabling, reading driver data), I can conclusively state that one of the drivers (in my case residing in Location 1) is exclusively tied to the HDMI port on my GPU –  when I disable it, my HDMI device (I have only one; shame, because I can't isolate the devices better) stops being listed in Windows Sound Control Panel; when I disable all other devices except that one, my audio over HDMI works fine – this leads me to believe that the other ones are not really essential codecs required for HDMI audio, but are instead related to the individual audio outputs.
    In summary, assuming the other two devices (residing, for example, in Location 0 and Location 2) are for audio output on DVI ports (usable via DVI->HDMI adapter/cable), there's still one NVIDIA High Definition Audio device (residing in, say, Location 3), which doesn't seem to be in use in relation to some sort of global codec mechanism (since I can disable it without affecting my HDMI port audio output), that is unaccounted for!
    Any idea what other output can the remaining device be linked to, since GTX570 has no S/PDIF pass-through connector on the board itself (to connect it to the motherboard's S/PDIF output)?
    Could the remaining device be there only as a legacy stub for S/PDIF connector which was present on the pre GeForce 400 Series cards, since they share the same NVIDIA drivers with the post-Tesla series?
    But in that case, why does my GTX660 list only one NVIDIA High Definition Audio device in Win 7 64bit?

    I want to define two different weblogic clusters for the same virtual host based on the URL. I've tried this

    I had a similar issue and got it fixed after applying the latest version of the
    proxy plugin. If you already got the latest plugin then it is fine. Otherwise
    let me know, I can send it over to you. You may also open a case with BEA and
    get it.

  • How to get my high definiton footage to show on the DVD as high definition

    I recorded a wedding with Sony High Definition cameras one tape based and the others hard drive based 1080i. I have edited it and when I exported to DVD Studio pro as a quicktime movie and had the settings as current. I burned the disk and played it and it does not look like high defintion at all on my tv. What can I do to get the same quality that shows on the computer?

    When you burned the disk in DVD SP, you downconverted it to Standard Def... Search this form on "Blu-Ray" and you'll find out how to preserve that HD... not easy without FCP 7...

  • System loses the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver ver 6.10.6491.0 after some time

    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC 6.10.6491.0 installed in our HP Envy Notebook - C8U19AV with Windows Pro 8.1 64 bit OS, the system will lose the driver. When I go into device manager it appears that the codecs are there but the driver for the audio just gets lost. We have to repeatedly uninstall all the audio components and then reinstall again. This has been the situation for some time. I cannot say for sure but I have reinstalled the driver twice now for my wife and she has done it a few times. We commonly use the laptop connected to an HP2710m display monitor with an HDMI cable. From time to time we plug in Bose headphones as well. The diver revision 6.10.6491.0 was again installed today after fully uninstalling the prior driver. The common signature is the sound does not work at some point and when I go in and check on the audio codec it will report no driver loaded. Any attempt to run the sp63407 install package without ripping out everything will result in the driver install failing as some of the prior files will has security that prevents the over write of the old files with the new ones.
    I can seen no obvious reason for this laptop to repeatedly lose the driver. Once the reinstall is done the sound works again but it is a real bother to have to repeatedly reinstall the audio driver.

    With your issue being for Windows 7, and not for Windows 8.1, the troubleshooting steps will be a little bit different. I would first suggest reinstalling your original sound drivers. I have included the document 'Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)', please click on the option for Hardware Driver Reinstallation, and follow through the steps for reinstalling your original sound driver only.
    Now once you have installed the original driver, you will need update your sound drivers. You can do both the Windows, and HP updates that are recommended for your notebook from the HP Support Assistant. I have included the document 'Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 7, Windows Vista)', Please click on the option for Maintaining your computer and installing the latest software updates. Pretty much once you do have the HP Support Assistant open click on Maintain, and then Software Updates. Please install all updates that are listed. After the updates have been installed, please restart your notebook, and test the sound.
    If by chance you are still experiencing the same issue, I would suggest running the Microsoft Fix It tool for 'Automatically diagnose and fix Windows audio playback problems'. This tool will check the settings, drivers, and services to make sure that it is running correctly, and try to fix any issues. Please follow through these steps to run the tool, click on the green Run now button > click Save > open the download > click Run. What was the outcome of the tool, are you still experiencing the same issue with the sound?
    If you are still experiencing the sound issue after the above troubleshooting steps, please let me know exactly what is happening with your sound. (ie, no sound, sound is choppy, or distorted). Does the sound issue occur in multiple programs, or just one? (ie. Windows Media Player, YouTube, or CD/DVD).

  • Importing a high-definition clip produces a timeline much longer than the video

    I have begun importing high-definition clips in MOV format into my Premier CS4.  I use a hard-disk based video recorder ( a DTE technology FS-100) whichbreaks the video up into 2GB clips each with a duration of 2 minutes, 18 seconds. and 8 frames (2:18.8).  However, Premier thinks that the clip is about 37 minutes long.  When I play the clip in the editor, the video freezes and the sound stops at 2:18.8 with the remaining ~35 minutes showing the same frame.
    I can get around this by manually cutting each clip down to 2:18.8, but I shouldn't have to do this.  By the way, when I import standard definition video from the same recorder I don't have this problem; Premier determines the correct length of the clip.
    Any ideas of what is going on and how to correct?

    I thought it was a little odd though as you can re-time the clip through the properties menu of the clip and the audio links with it and slows down. I had jsut hoped the same would apply when I just tried using a smoother effect on it.

    I have added one template to the Data Definition. When I tried to add another Template(with different name as previous, to the same concurrent program and application) to the same Data Definition I am getting the following error.
    Error: You entered a duplicate template entry. Please change the Name, Code and/or Application and reapply.
    Can anyone help me out solving this problem. I am reaching my deadline. Please suggest me what can be done.

  • A How To: Create a Widescreen High Definition Slide Show from the Organizer

    [EDIT] I just tried another one and, weirdly, that produced an output with black bars around all four sides! So maybe this 'how to' is not 100%.  I have considered deleting the post altogether but, as it does still produce a superior slideshow quality file than the standard ones provided with Elements,  I've decided to leave it with this edit added at the top for additional info.[END_EDIT]
    In answering a question in another forum I found a nice quick way to create proper widescreen high definition slide shows from just the Elements Organizer. Apologies if this is 'old news' to readers, but I've not seen this described elsewhere so I thought I'd share it.
    The Organizer Slide Show creator, if not wanting to edit in PRE, provides a small set of Windows Media Player profiles to create .wmv files. But the best of these goes only to 1024x768 (a 4:3 monitor resolution setting). I've noticed, but never paid much attention to, that at the bottom of the Slide Size box there is a 'Browse for more' option that lets you search for additional Windows Media Encoder profiles. Investigation showed me that I can download the Windows Media Encoder software from Microsoft and create my own profiles. But even further investigation showed  me that someone had already done this! I've tested their full HD profile and it works just fine (1920x1080).
    So if you are just after a straightforward slide show (i.e. not needing PRE features) but want it displayed on your Full HD TV set here is what you do:
    Download the HD Profiles from http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/236895-hd-profiles-for-windows-movie-maker/. There's also a couple of useful SD sizes there as well. Save them somewhere you can easily find them.
    Create your slide show in the Organizer. Obviously use appropriately sized images for HD. There's little point outputting an HD wmv file using low resolution and/or 4:3 aspect ratio images.
    Save and Output your slide show.
    In the output dialog ('Save As a File') scroll down to the bottom of Slide Size and select 'Browse for more ...'.
    Browse to the file you downloaded in step 1 and click Open.
    Click OK and your Widescreen HD .wmv file is prepared.
    Here's a Gspot analysis of my test output file. As you can see it is an HD file with a 16:9, square pixel, aspect ratio.

    You did not mention a specific Premiere Elements Elements Organizer combo for this, so for now I will address this from the version 11, not Windows Movie Maker, perspective if I need to get version specific.

    The Browse for More is a well known route and does offer at least one Adobe profile for 1280 x 720 16:9. I am not sure where you came up with the lesser resolution,1024 x 768 that you mentioned. The Windows Media profiles have existed for several versions of Elements Organizer. Those Adobe ones that you do not see under Output Save As A File Movie (.wmv), can be found in the Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path

    A homemade 1920 x 1080 16:9 30 frames per second .prx has long been sought but not that easily produced by many using with the Windows Media Encoder Editor. Apparently you have found one online, and it does get accepted into the Premiere Elements 11 Browse for More choices. And, if you do a gspot readout for the wmv output from Elements Organizer 11, it will display all the "right" properties that you hoped for and that are shown in your screenshot.
    The bottom line, why bother with the wmv slideshow? If you take your original photos and size them for 1920 x 1080 16:9, use them in the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor (Crops used in preferences), use the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor command, what you get in Premiere Elements 11 is full and good in all regard. Have you tried it?
    I can see your interest if this is HD going to HD (AVCHD on DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc, but I do not see this for an Elements Organizer Slideshow that is going to DVD-VIDEO widescreen.

  • Can I Edit SD and HDV footage at the same time in CS4?

    I have a Sony PD 150 camcorder and I'm looking at buying a Sony HDR-HC# HDV 1080i camcorder to use as a second camera on video shoots.  Can I edit footage from both cameras on the same timeline in CS4?    I'm using a PC, running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002 with an Intel (R) Pentium (R) 2.80 GB processor with 2.5 GB of RAM.  Thanks!

    I have a Windows XP 2005 with 3.4GHz with 4GB of ram and it cant handle HDV for HD video.
    I have a Sony HVR Z1U and use the in camera down-rez and edit in SD just fine.
    Like said before you really need a new computer to edit the HDV but if your going to DVD then your only using SD anyway.
    But to answer you question you can mix formats with CS4.

    I'm new to Java EE but I could finish some test projects on GlassFish 3 / Java EE 6 platform.
    Now it's time to build the actual system and I need some help in that.
    So, I can't really tell you the exact purpose of this system but let's look at the following example which is very close to what I need.
    Say there is a database schema definition (DDL) for Oracle 11g and this schema is storing the inventory of a shop. So tables like product, category, price etc
    Say there are 50 shops, and I'm getting a new database for each shop every month holding their inventory.
    So every month I'm receiving a SQL file with INSERTs (DML) for every shop for the DDL I mentioned above.
    I'm getting 50 SQL files for the 50 shops every month, so in a year you're talking about 600 SQL files to import.
    If it was php/MySQL I could import them into a separate database each, call it shop1_May11, shop2_May11 etc reflecting the shop name and the month in the database name.
    This is my question how you guys think I should achieve this in Jave EE / Oracle.
    As the DDL is the same I thought to create an Entity for each table and use the Java Persistance API to create the databases and then I'd import the month/shop specific SQL files.
    But this means I'm gonna create 50 new schemas in Oracle every month?
    Or what's the best way to achieve this?

    JPA helps a lot in persisting and retrieving data that has relationships without having to worry about the relationships at a sQL level.
    So you get a java programmer that builds relationships using Java classes (the entities) and a persistence provider worries about the sql required to materialize those relationships.
    You seem to be using SQL inserts for persisting the data and you want to generate the reports from SQL as well.
    You can use it but you won't be gaining much of its advantages for this project.
    Consider reporting applications like the jasperserver for the reports.
    Also, I have seen people get away with using one database for this type of thing and just adding a clientid (and optionally branchid) to each table.

    I am new to the forum, and new to FCP...yes! I joined the dark side and just got a MAC.
    I am trying to learn this system, and the 500 manuals it came with are about as clear as mud.....
    Can I mix 16x9 DV footage with 16x9 HDV footage? And please don't tell me I am hosed!
    I have some footage right now in a sequence, but it has the red line above the sequence, indicating that it needs to render.
    And actually I can't even get the high def footage alone in a sequence to work...but that is another post.

    I think what your asking is this....the captured clip is:
    frame size: 1440x10180
    compressor: hdv 1080i60
    data rate 3.2 mb
    pixel aspect: hd 1440/1080
    I changed the sequence settings to match this and it came out all kinds of funky.
    Is there another way to find out what kind of high def the clip is? I have the Sony FX1 if that matters....

    It's rather more complicated that this.
    iPhoto is a lossless editor. You don't lose any quality on your shot in iPhoto.
    The file size you see reported is the size of your iPhoto Preview: this is what gets used if you access the data via a media browser. It's a "good-enough-for-most-uses" version of the shot. Email it, upload to websites, use it in Presentation, Word processing file etc
    If you want to set the quality yourself then Export the photo using the File -> Export command.
    You can choose to export to Jpeg, Tiff or png. Tiff is lossless but the file sizes are up to 10 times larger. Jpeg allows you to choose different qualities: High, Medium or low. The difference is the amount of compression involved. High quality means very little compression. It's not unusual for photos exported at this setting to have a larger file size than the original.
    Which setting you choose depends on the use you intend. Further editing, printing then high is important. Sending to Facebook? Well low will do just fine there as they're going to trash the file anyway.
    But the key point: the file size only becomes an issue when you export.

  • Preview versus Real View Not the Same, Site Definition Errors - Dreamweaver CS4

    I am having trouble working on sites where it seems that Dreamweaver wants me to specify different file locations for various "includes" depending on whether I want to view the site as a preview (F12) vs. on a local test server vs. on the real website server.  Note I am using Dreamweaver CS4 (ver. 10) on Windows, my local test server is Apache running via an Xampp installation on Windows, and my production server is also Apache, running at Hostgator.  I am building a fairly basic html site using SSI via SHTML files, rather than PHP or a more sophisticated method.  Here is what seems to be happening:
    1.  In my index.shtml file I call, for example, a subheader file called "header-nosub-menu.inc.htm."  I have my site definitions set to "relative to document root."  Using the insert -> SSI command, Dreamweaver links to the file with the following: My first problem is that, as specified, the subheader.menu.inc.htm file is not found and the preview gives me an error.  I get the same error if i try to display the file on my local test server (http://localhost/domainname).  However, if I upload the file to my production server, it seems to work fine.  If I change the include command to: #include virtual="./includes/subheader.menu.inc.htm," by manually inserting the "./" to change the directory reference, then the file seems to work in all three situations  Which is the correct directory specification, and why is Dreamweaver not generating it automatically?
    While I can make the manual changes in the directory specifications, I am concerned that if Dreamweaver is making an error in this instance, it may generate more serious problems that are harder to find later.
    2. The second issue seems to involve the Site Definition file configuration.I get an error message when I set up my site definition in what seems to be the correct way, specifically, using the following specifications:
    Local Root folder:  "C:\htdocs\domainname-dev\"

    The error message is: "The site url prefix for the testing server does not match the site url prefix specified in the http address for the site."
    However, when I change the testing server url prefix to one that does not yield an error message ("http://localhost") I then have problems with the preview (F12) display.  Specifically, instead of a preview request generating the following url: "http://localhost/domainname-dev/TMPm393xnclqu.shtml" I find that it generates the following: "http://localhost/TMPm393xnclqu.shtml"  The so called incorrect definition seems to be the correct one, but  why is Dreamweaver not recognizing it as such?  Am I making a error somewhere else in my configuration?

    I wasn't suggesting that you use virtual hosts (although I have defined about 50 virtual hosts on my own development machine). I was trying to understand the url you listed:
    http://www.domainname/
    Without a virtual host definition, that would have no meaning and could not point to anything, unless you simply were leaving off the TLD in the example. (.com, .net, etc)
    I often use the PHP $_SERVER superglobal to define paths and handle differences between the development environment and the remote server environment. Examples:
    DOCUMENT_ROOT: D:/ZendServer/Apache2/htdocs/website/ranch (machine path)
    REQUEST_URI: /topic/calendar (url parameters)
    SCRIPT_NAME: index.php
    HTTP_REFERER: (the url of the script preceding the current script)
    HTTP_HOST: (this is the domain name. It is very useful for distinguishing between the local and remote environments)
    COMPLETE EXAMPLE:
    echo "<p><a class='noPrint' href='".$_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']."'>RETURN TO PREVIOUS PAGE</a></p>";
