    Hi @trujillo24 ,
    Thank You for your query.
I understand that you have replaced the notebook display and cable but when you power on the notebook but the display looks blank unless you shine a flashlight on it.  With the flashlight you do see a faint image.
Did you install a recommended replacement?

  • Envy m6-1125dx will not power on

I have an Envy m6-1125dx Windows 8 notebook. Issue: I hit power button to turn on. It lights up for a second and immediately goes back off. Does not power on anything or give any LED flash code.
Things I have already tried: Cleaned fans. Removed battery, still same issue. Tested charger, gives proper voltage. Tested DC Jack, is receiving proper voltage. Reset power connections, still same issues. Inspected motherboard for any signs of damage, found none.
If I were receiving a LED code it would be one thing, but not receiving any codes at all. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jon

  • HP ENVY 17-j180ca Notebook PC - monitor

I just bought the HP ENVY 17-j180ca Notebook PC. I'm trying to calibrate my monitor for photograph editing. The software I'm using to calibrate the monitor with asked two questions I don't have the answers to...
    1. Is the Gamut normal or wide?
    2. Is the monitor backlit with Fluorescent CCFL, white LED or RGB LED?
Please help! I can't find this information.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

The display is a WLED backlit type, not RGB LED.
The color gamut is in the neighborhood of 68%.
Even an iMac with a Retina display does not provide a wide color gamut.

  • HP Envy M6-1125DX Broken Hinge

I have an HP envy m6-1125dx laptop; the left hinge broke a while back. I was using it as is but in due time everything got far worse. Now all I have is ripped out LCD screen and the basis of the computer. I am using my laptop as a desktop.  When the issue first started I tried anything from tape to glue to make it work. Since the issue started right around the time the warranty expired I did not try any course of action. However I would like you guys to know that this is not the first time I am seeing the issue. Starting from pavillions until envy I have seen many cases where the hinges gets ripped out. And to be honest it looks like it is the same in the new form factor. I have receipts and serial numbers whole 9 yards. Thank you for reading.

    Hi @yigitka ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).

The screen is Black but you can still see something in the background -
if you put a light behind the screen you can see it more clearly.
I originally thought it was the lcd so I changed that out for a new one - when that did not work
then I change the lcd ribbon cable.
(both brand new and currently installed)
But I still have the same problem.
Black screen still the same way as discribed before.
Im thinking it has to be a software issue....

I understand that you replaced both your screen and you lcd ribbon but are having the same issue with the image on screen being dark until your provide a backlight. This actually indicates a problem with your display inverter. Normally, your Maintenance and Service Guide will show you where that part is but this one doesn't unfortunately. I would recommend calling HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • Envy 15t 3200 blue screen after graphics install

    Hi everyone,
I'm an IT professional working on a client's HP Envy 15t-3200 notebook PC (Win 7 x64, Intel i7, AMD 7700 series)
He said (he thinks) after installing a recent windows update, it started blue screening on him with a graphics error.
He restored his PC to factory install, and it was working fine until he installed windows updates and the graphics drivers again, receiving the same blue screen graphics error.
I picked up his laptop. I installed a slipstream of windows 7 that I created. Everything worked fine - as soon as I installed his graphics drivers.
First, I had installed the AMD drivers (from AMD, not HP). I thought everything was working fine, until I checked the device manager and saw that the AMD graphics were being disabled, and the laptop was reverting to the generic graphics driver. I also tried the older driver offered on HPs support page.
I uninstalled the AMD graphics, and installed the Intel graphics. As soon as they were installed, upon restarting I received the same original blue screen error and had to result in booting to safe mode and performing system restore.
When I install the AMD graphics without installing Intel graphics, it reverts itself to Generic graphics. The AMD graphics adapter shows a Code 43 in the device manager, stating that the device has stopped working because it has reported problems.
I played around with different versions of AMD graphics which did not resolve the issue, and I installed different versions of the Intel graphics, which still caused a blue screen.
The PC is working ONLY with the generic graphics drivers, which doesn't work for what my client wants to be able to do (gaming).
    I found this - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04121863&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...
on the troubleshooting page for this notebook, and tried using this solution which also did not resolve the issue.
I've checked temperatures of the laptop and nothing is anywhere near overheating.
I don't know what else to try. My client said he will live with it and just not use it for gaming anymore, but that is not good enough for me - I've offered to continue finding a resolution for him free of charge.
Any help would be very appreciated, this is extremely annoying

Reformatting the hard disk and installing the OS again may or may not help.
I would consider rolling back to a system restore checkpoint where the issue all began, testing it and if it works turn off Windows updates on the notebook.
Unfortunately, this notebook model requires replacing the system board. I wish I had better news for you on this, but I do not.
You can see that in the Maintenence & Service guide.
The larger notebooks have the graphics adapter module as a seperately replaceable unit.

  • How do I play dvds on hp envy touchsmart 15 notebook with an external player and Windows 8.1.

I have a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 NOtebook PC. I bought an external HP DVD player model dvd600s-H01 5 but I cannot play DVDs.

    Hi @pattyathome
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with an external  dvd player attached to your notebook.
What is the full product number for your notebook? Please read the following if you need help in finding that.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Does your notebook already have a built in dvd drive?
Did you install the drivers and software that came with the external dvd player? If there was originally no DVD player in your notebook, it is likely that there is no dvd player application loaded.
So in that event I would recommend installing from the software disk with the DVD drive.

  • I have an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC that I'm trying to install an ssd

I recently bought an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC, nice laptop. Anyway, I bought a samsung evo ssd, I bought the drive caddy for it online, but I can not get the laptop to see the drive. I pulled it apart 5 different times thinking that I messed up. But after all that I still can't get it to work. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GIGJYBG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This is the drive caddy that I bought. I thought this was the right one, but I don't know. If anyone can help me, please respond to this post. Thanks

    Hello wily51501,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your notebook will not recognize a newly installed solid state drive (SSD).
Are you checking in the system BIOS to determine if the drive is detected, or with the HP Recovery / Windows software? Sometimes it's as easy as enabling the drive in the BIOS. You can find information on this here, covered on step 7: Installing or Replacing a Hard Drive
Here is a great guide that walks you through upgrading to an SSD: HP SSD Upgrade Kit Installation Guide. Furthermore this Maintenance and Service Guide has some more specific information for your exact notebook. It could be that the caddy you purchased is defective if the BIOS does not recognize the drive.
Here is a document published by Seagate that talks about drives that are not detected:  The BIOS does not detect or recognize the ATA / SATA hard drive.
    Hopefully this information helps!

  • Qosmio G20-139: Using notebook screen to play on the Xbox360

Hi I have a query about the monitor in function with the G20-139,
I have an xbox 360 and want to know if there is a way of using the notebooks screen to play on the 360 either in High-Def or composite mode by using the monitor in function. With the notebook came a composite in cable at one end and a sort of 3.5 mm headphone jack at the other.
I have read the instruction manual regarding the matter and it doesn't work.
Any Help would be appreciated Thanks

    Hi
The monitor-in port which you can connect with the composite cable can be used for displaying video from your digital camcorder, video game or video recorder on the internal LCD. It can be used as line-in port to enable the connection of stereo device for audio input.
In my opinion you need additionally this cable to connect the Xbox to the Qosmio with the delivered composite-in cable.
    http://www.madcatz.com/Default.asp?Page=257&CategoryImg=Xbox_360_Cables
Then to should start the Qosmio with the Monitor-in button which starts the Qosmio player.

  • HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC: Problems installing audio driver (High Definition Audio device)

    Hello all,
My product is the HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC.
    Product number: E3B65PA#AR6
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
A few days ago, I  upgraded my windows from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and found that no sound coming from the HDTV when connecting my HDMI cable however video is perfectly fine. I was completely baffled because the audio was working perfectly fine before upgrading to Windows 8.1. I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. I have checked the HDMI cable and it is working fine with other laptop.
Device manager is showing 2 device :
High Definition audio device ( Showing yellow traingle)
      IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
When I am opening the properties of High Definition audio device it is showing :
This device cannot start (code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.
If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please help me
    thanks in advance

    Hi:
The IDT audio driver (notebook speakers) appears to be working fine.
The problem is probably with the Intel graphics driver which  controls the HDMI audio.
My recommendation would be to install the latest Intel graphics driver from the link below and see if that fixes the problem.

  • How to disable touchpad when usb mouse in on HP ENVY dv7-7259nr Notebook PC‏ using Windows 7

I would like to have my touch pad disabled when using my USB mouse or otherwise be able to manually disable it.  It is a pain to use when typing with the touch pad enabled but I would like to use the touch pad on occasions such as when I am traveling or if my mouse goes out. Not to mention, I would need to re-enable the touh pad if for some reason I have no mouse (keyboard shortcut?)
I am using windows 7 on my HP ENVY dv7-7259nr Notebook PC‏

This is what it looks like.
You should consider returning you notebook to the Windows 8 OS. There are many new features that it has that Windows 7 never did. Download use the free open source software called classic shell to give yourself a start button in Windows 8 that even has more features than Windows 7 start buton does. Once you use Windows 8 for a while you will enjoy it, especially the refresh feature and lower memory use.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Windows 7 drivers.

Hello skyeisthelimit. I understand there is no sound produced by the notebook. Based on the description, I believe that the issue is software-based. However, I'm not going to eliminate faulty hardware from my mind. You have attempted some troubleshooting, which is great. I am going to provide some troubleshooting as well (certain steps you already completed). Please follow all troubleshooting in the order I suggest:
First, there is Microsoft Wizard Tutorial that troubleshoots sound issues in Windows 8.1. Please follow the wizard until it is finished. You can locate this wizard here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows/no-sound-help#no-sound=windows-8&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab...
Second, follow all of the troubleshooting, suggest in this HP document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03257712
Eventually, you will be asked to reinstall updated drivers. Please install this one: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-124012-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Assuming the issue is not resolved, the next step is to refresh Windows 8. This will force the computer to return to Windows 8. It will also clean up the computer, to a certain extent (it is not as powerful as a recovery). For more information on how to refresh Windows, please reference this Microsoft document: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
If refreshing the operating system does not resolve the issue, reinstall the operating system is the next step. Ensure you backup all of your data beforehand.
For information on how to effectively backup your computer, please reference this document: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03270359
For information on how to perform a system recovery, please reference this document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03489643
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

  • Docking station for my HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC

I just bought this laptop and I need to buy a dociking station to it. With my previous laptop there was a connector on the bottom that would snap to the docking station and make it work.  The HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC does not seem to have any special connections. What dociking station it uses? Thanks

Consumer laptops no longer have an option for a "snap down" dock which is a shame but now industry standard. HP Business models do have that option. The only thing you can use with consumer models is a USB 3.0 "docking station" which is a bit of a misnomer since they are really "port replicators". However, USB 3.0 has enough bandwidth to replicate any and all ports on the laptop so they can have gigabit ethernet, good audio and even multi-monitor video that works fine.  Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Replicator-Docking-H1L08AA-ABA/dp/B008KMDVME   See, this one has 2 x usb 2 2 x usb 3, audio, ethernet, hdmi and displayport. It has its own power supply so when you hook up the laptop you hook up two cables to the laptop...its own power cord, and then connect this into one usb 3.0 on the laptop. Almost as quick as "snap down".  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.
