Is html/pdf output format from BO 508 compliant?
Hi Experts -
I heard BO reporting tool can output html/pdf format. Are they 508 compliant? If not, how can I make them into 508 compliant please advice.
Thanks
Hi
You can make it 508 complaint by choosing/check marking this option from BusinessObjects InfoView > Preferences > Webi > 508 Complaint.
Please note that this forum is not the right area to discuss BO technical questions.

Broadcast Email to PDF output format
Hi All,
We are using the standard web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) to broadcast email for PDF output format. I'm managed to received the PDF attachment email but however instead of one query, it contains duplication of the same query (repeated query) in the PDF file. We are also using the standard 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCAST_PDF web template.

Regression testing on PDF output files from Reports?
My current client is looking to do more automated regression testing of the output (content) of their reports, most of which are output from Reports6i into Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. Is anyone currently using or aware of a tool (QARun, WinRunner, etc.) that will do this? (Most of the tools can do a binary comparison of the PDF files that were output, but we need something that will look into the PDF files themselves and tell us where any differences are found in the actual content (text) of the report itself.)
Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide!
- BillDear Nick,
Just ensure a printer is configured. This can be done by typing in echo $PRINTER at the $Prompt.
If it returns null then configurea printer and i fell this should resolve your problem,
Since it did resolve my problem.

I am having some trouble getting pdf output in the unix environment from Reports 6i.
If I kick off a defined report file (.rep) from the command line as follows:
rwrun60 testreport.rep destype=file desformat=pdf desname=testreport.pdf userid=connection_details
I get the following errors:
REP-0004: Warning: Unable to open user preference file.
REP-3300: Fatal error in toolkit.
UI-9: This function call is out of context
If I run the command without the file output options (rwrun60 testreport.rep userid=connection_details) then the report opens up on the screen correctly. From here, if I try to generate a pdf file, I get the following error:
REP-1800: Formatter error.
The report is defined as character type, and is a simple listing of approximately 50 records from a database table. There are no graphics or any pl/sql defined in the report.
Has anyone had similar problems in trying to do this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Want text input containing HTML tags to appear as HTML in output format
Hi,
We have a table in Oracle database that has a column named detail, one of its values is like this: <italics>Good Morning</italics>. What our client wants is that the output format should show: <b><i>Good Morning</b></i>. That is,Bi Publisher should be able to parse the HTML tags and provide the desired output. Please tell me how to achieve this. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Debarati,
[email protected]Hi,

(Input and) output formats from Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac
I noticed that (until midnight PT, anyway) Amazon has Photoshop Elements for the Mac at a lower price than usual. This brings up a question for me: What output formats can Photoshop Elements 6 produce? In particular, can it produce PNG? Also, can it accept PNG as input?
I think that all the formats like .bmp, camera RAW, EPS,PICT, TIFF, Filmstripn, IFF, JPEG, Photoshop pdf, Photoshop RAW,PNG etc are supported for both input and output.

PDF output file from Image Capture corrupted
This problem occurs only when scanning multiple page documents into image capture, the lower 1/4 of the first 2 pages are unreadable blurs. The page shows up ok in the Image capture preview window, but the PDF output is corrupted. The printer is a Brother MFC-7820N, I am scanning 150 dpi grayscale, US letter, no image correction, to PDF. The problem occurs with both of my computers, Quad G5 10.5.8, and a MacBook 10.5.8, this has happened since I purchased the printer, I was running 10.4 at the time. I have just scanned 1 page at a time with no problem, but now I have a large amount of documents to scan and I get the corrupt files. If anyone has seen this and found a solution, I would appreciate any suggestions.
Ah perfect, you made me aware of a feature kink I didn’t know about! When you import stuff using Image Capture, it goes into /private/tmp/Image Capture_Import.(string of numbers and letters).
You can navigate there by going to the Finder, hitting Command-Shift-G, and typing in /private/tmp—if the folder still exists, as it usually does for some time, sometimes even until the next restart or so—you can see the folders which should include one or more of thoe Image Capture_Import.something folders and find your files.
Incidentally, if you want to find a “system” file, i.e., one that’s in a location normally hidden by the Finder, you can:
1. Open up a new Spotlight/Find window in the Finder, and start searching by name.
2. Next to where it says Search: This Mac… etc. there’s a + button. Click that, then
3. From the dropdown menu choose Other… and look in the list for “System files” and check the “In Menu” checkbox for it.
4. Hit OK.
5. Choose “System Files” which is now in the dropdown, choose “are included” from the next dropdown.
Be careful what you do with files you find using this method. It will show everything, including files essential to running your Mac properly, so unless you know exactly what you’re doing, don’t just start dragging files off this window onto your Desktop or anything, try to copy them instead by option-dragging (holding down the option key while dragging)—that way, you’re only making copies, not moving a file from where it’s supposed to be, and your Mac can find it.
Hope this helps! If you can’t find your files this way, there are other programs which can undelete and perform other operations to recover data… this happens to everyone, no matter how long you’ve been a user. -

Urgent : Display logo in Smartform with XSF+ HTML as Output Format
Hi,
Through the Portal we are displaying ESS Salary Statement of a Employee for last 24 monthys in the iView using the Customized Smartform ZHR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF which is copy of Standard Smartform HR_ESS_PAYSLIP_TO_PDF .
Requirement is that we have to change the Output Option to "XSF+HTML" and Display a logo at Top-Middle of the form.
But the problem is that Logo is only visible only when Output Option is "Standard Output". and not visible when Output Option is "XSF+HTML".
Please tell me how to display the Logo in the Smartform so that it is visible in "XSF+HTML" or "XSF" as Output Option.
Asnwers will be suitably rewarded.
Thanks,

Multiple Output formats from Single Source File? (Like Squeeze)
I'd really love to be able to batch process encodes in the following manner:
Drop my source video file into AME CS5, select an MP4 preset, and then have it encode multiple bitrate versions while adding filename extensions [e.g. _High (700 kb/s), _Mid (550 kb/s), _Low (400 kb/s)].
The simple answere is to drop, or duplicate, my input clip 3 times and just select 3 presets I could set up under the Hi, Mid, Lo parameters. But that's exactly what I'm trying to work around. I encode video ads for major web-video sites, and the volume is just manageable to batch process these (drag and drop large quantities, select multiple presets at once, hit Start.) To handle each ad we service would be far too time consuming, even for as simple as AME makes it to duplicate/choose new preset. (In the end, our ads jump onto our FTP via AME's FTP upload option, one of it's smartest features!)
We have quite a bit of encoding resources here at work, but AME has been giving us the most favorable results. Other options, such as Sorenson Squeeze, let you import your source clips, then apply 2 or more presets to them, before encoding the whole batch. Is there any similar functionality in Media Encoder? (Really don't want to move our workflow into Squeeze, with it's inferior MP4 encoding.)
Does anybody have any experience with this sort of high-volume multiple-outputs from individual source files? Any tips with scripts or Apple's "Automator" that could streamline this type of batch processing?Any update on this ability? We create many in house videos that need to be encoded to 14 different
bitrates for use with Flash Media Server as dynamic http streams.
Currently when I am ready to export a finished sequence, I will pick my first preset and queue it in AME. Then I duplicate that thirteen times, setting each of the new thirteen queued items to their appropriate bitrates. Then I have to change each of the output names to be "filename_bitrate.flv".
This process is much slower when queued in AME than if I exported each individually from PP. I just don't have the time to manually export each version.
I have also started noticing that some of the last few projects won't render beyond the quality of the first queued item. Do I need to render the largest bitrate file first?
Any indication from Adobe on the correct workflow to create multiple bitrate files to be consumed by FMS as dynamic http streams would be appreciated.
The link above is dead. Does anyone have an updated link to the document above? -
I have Oracle 8.1.6 runing on Windows NT 4.0.
I have a view which extracts data from 3 tables. Customer Name from Table 1; Product Name from Table 2; Problem Description from Table 3. Values for Customer Name, Product Name, and Problem Description are concatenated together into one field "Mail_body" in the view. As the field name suggests, the third party mail utility will extract "Mail_body" value as the email body. The email is then sent out to a Unix box for further processing. As the view is created with the concatenation operator "||". The value is just a one long line in the Mail_body field.
I want to force Product Name on one line; Product Name on second line; and Problem Description on a third line in the field "Mail_body". Is there any way I can force different values into different lines in one field of a view? To put these values into different fields is not a solution in my case.
Any suggestions?not sure what you mean,
but is this what you try:
select 'this is a ' || chr(13) || chr(10) || 'test' from dual;

When I preview PDF output i am seeing some special character like *0E-00001111232* . The actual value should be *$ 2,343,500*.
When ever i face this issue immediately if i download and upload the same template its working fine. But after 15 days or 1 week again i am facing the same issue(On a regular interval).
Its not only for the number data type columns also for some varchar columns.
I checked the xml output its coming correctly , but only in preview i am facing this issue.

If any one faced with same issue please share your approach.

Generating 508 compliant output for access via SharePoint
In order to make our WebHelp application accessible via a Sharepoint folder, our team lead was able to move all output files (from the ISSL/WebHelp folder) to a single folder then move the files from the resource, whdata, whgdata and whxdata folders to the same [new] location so that all files associated with the RoboHelp WebHelp project are in the same area. Next, he edited the whproj.xml file and changed the datapath from "whxdata" to " " (null). This works fine for primary layout output that isn't 508 compliant, so I duplicated the same steps after generating 508 compliant output to see if I'd get the same results. After moving all files to a single folder and uploading to a test server (not Sharepoint), the table of contents page [frame] "can't be found". I know that the toc tag in the whtoc.xml file has a root attribute that points to "whtdata0.xml". This file is in the same folder as everything else. So why does it not show the TOC?
Thanks,
Developer2000Perhaps the best way to answer this is to ask what your response would be if your support people came along to you saying a customer didn't like the structure of the folders in your application so they had rearranged them and now it would no longer work, what should they do?
Perhaps best not to post the reply here.
The folders and files that RoboHelp generates have many inter-dependencies and it could be some are in files you cannot edit. Who knows? It is not something Adobe would document and I have not seen anyone post anything that would help you.

When I use the new CS4 pdf output function from Bridge my images are rasterized and low-res even if I select the "high" quality option. I am creating contact sheets from .ai files so they should be crisp and clear, but no matter what I do they are fuzzy and low res.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any possible fixes?Due to the fact you have the choice of high quality means you did not
