Is HTML's image mapping in OWA not supported?

We compose a mail inserted with a HTML page which contains a image devided into serveral parts by using <map> and <area> tages.  People received mail can follow the hyperlinks set in the different part of the image to be directed to various
web pages.
It is fine to display this HTML page with mail clients such as Outlook.
But in OWA (Exchange 2010), the hyperlinks inside the image are missing, only an image left.
So I am wondering if some HTML tags such as image mapping tag <map> and <area> are not supported in OWA.
Or do I need to do some configurations to make this effect?
Can someone give me some advices?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
What's your Outlook version?
Based on my search, Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 can support HTML image mapping. Even Outlook 2010 don't support image mapping.
Someone encountered the same issue in Outlook 2010 as you got in OWA. It seems that OWA don't support HTML image mapping as well. You can look at the following thread.

  • Image Map of JPG not Accessing or Importing Media

    I am trying to link WMV file to image maps on a jpg file in a CHM created by RoboHelp 9. It looks like it is working, and if I preview the page, the links work. But when I generate the finished CHM file, the media is not accessable. I went back to the Project Manager and saw that the media was not imported in to the project. I wen to the Windows File Manager and found the media in the right area of the project. I tried importing as Media and as File. I tried as Baggage file as well... selecting the file in the destination listing. Anybody know how to do this?
    WIN7 TCS 3.5

    Incidently, making drop down jpg files work with an image map requires the same thing, they have to be added as baggage files. This has allowed me to screen grab the software interface I am documenting and then have clickable menu names and buttons that would show a Tier 1 level jpg drop down appear. In Photoshop I looked at the file size and in RoboHelp chose to limit a custom popup size for these jpg files. They actually make the image map look like live software within the help file. I am putting this in as a way for the student or user to be able to learn by doing as to where commands and options are within the software, without having the software. I have just used video demonstrations but that doesn't let the user interact. This interaction could be used for testing or games later on I hope. The software is $28K and requires a USB key to work so mimicing the software was the only option I could think of here.
    I would like to add voice over to each of these jpg files but I think I might have to put them into Captivate to incorporate audio that would describe the various functions. Would this be the best or easiest way? I was hoping that you might be able to hyperlink or image map two dissimilar objects at the same time, what with how powerful our computers are nowadays.

  • MS Outlook 2010 Professional Plus - Word couldn't send mail because of a MAPI failure: "Operation not supported".

    I'm receiving the following error when attempting to email directly out of MS Word 2010
    The environment: MS Windows XP SP3. MS Office 2010 Professional Plus. Steps to error: I'm attempting to send the document as an email using File > Save & Send > Send Using E-mail > Send as Attachment.
    About 8 months ago I had an identical error in MS Office 2010 Beta and did troubleshooting for a few days and was able to resolve it. I'm kicking myself because I didn't take note as to what finally fixed it. Last week I uninstalled Beta and installed
    MS Office 2010 when we got our volume copy/key.
    The same error occurs in our service desk application Track-It! 5.0 when attempting to email a requestor directly out of the program using a shortcut key; when I resolved this error in MS Office 2010 Beta it resolved it both for MS Word 2010 Beta and Track-It!
    5.0.
    Attempts thus far to resolve:
    Reinstalled MS Office 2010
    Repair of MS Office 2010
    System Restore to prior to uninstallation of MS Office 2010 Beta (did not go well, reversed System Restore)
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Try to
    rename the Mapi32.dll file, and then start the Fixmapi.exe program:
    Click
    Start, and then click Search.
    Click
    All files and folders.
    In the
    All or part of the file name box, type mapi32.dll, and then click
    Search.
    When the search process is complete, right-click the
    Mapi32.dll file, and then click Rename.
    Type
    Mapi32.old, and then press ENTER.
    Click
    Start a new search, and then click All files and folders.
    In the
    All or part of the file name box, type fixmapi.exe, and then click
    Search.
    When the search process is complete, double-click
    Fixmapi.exe to start the repair process.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.
    If this does not work, try to run the program as administrator. Go to the location of WINWORD.EXE and create a shortcut from it by right-clicking - then choose
    'compatibility mode' and select 'Run as administrator, save your shortcut to the desktop.

  • Image Maps not available?

    I have RH8 and noticed the html "image map" functionality does not work in a generated a Word document and/or a PDF document.  Can someone confirm this is correct?  I looked around for some kind of setting, but I can't find one.

    Hi there
    This would seem to make sense that Image Maps would fail to convert to a medium primarily intended for printing.
    If you feel it should operate differently, please advise Adobe via the Wish Form. (Link is in my sig)

  • Image map links not working in all browsers

    Hi, I develop HTML marketing emails once a week and my boss
    has recently informed me that some, not all, of the image mapping
    links do not work in all browsers or emails i.e. MacMail, Opera,
    Safari, etc. He's positive there's something in Dreamweaver that
    makes the links universally accommodated no matter what email/web
    browser you use, but I haven't been able to find a solution as of
    yet.
    Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks!
    :music;

    Let's start with the least critical issue. Your boss and his
    boss are
    simply wrong. An HTML link is just an HTML link, whether
    created in DW or
    in Notepad.
    Now, on to the meat. When you upload this page to the web, do
    the links
    work? And when you say that they don't work, what do you
    mean? Do you mean
    that when you click on them, you are not taken to the linked
    page? Which
    links are not working?
    Finally, why do you have your mapped image also within an
    anchor tag?
    <a href="
    http://www.beyondthewall.com/xcart/giftcert.php"><img
    src="Slice.jpg" width="263" height="58" border="0"
    usemap="#Map" /></a>
    Is that the one where the link doesn't work?
    Can you post a link to this page on the web, please?

  • Image maps error with IE 6

    Hallo!
    I have a problem with Internet Explorer 6 (Windows XP) and only 2 image maps with rollovers on a page with a total of 6 image maps.
    This is the page:
    http://www.eqmultimedia.it/paolobisi/home_2009f.html
    Everything is OK on Mac OS X (Safari and Firefox) and IE 7 on Windows XP and Vista.
    ONLY the 2 image maps named "ART FOR SALE" and "CONTACT" do not work with IE 6.
    This is my workflow:
    - Page design in Photoshop.
    - Slices, image maps, rollovers and remote rollovers with ImageReady
    - Save html page and images folder from ImageReady
    - Import html page and images folder in Golive CS
    - Check and correct ALL the links in the image-map code generated with ImageReady
    - Export site from Golive (with Flatten Script Library) and FTP transfer on Unix server.
    I suspect that the image-map code is not FULLY loaded by IE6 and for this reason only 2 image maps on the page do not works.
    Any suggestion will be very appreciated.
    Thank you and sorry for my English!

  • How to embed an image map in email?

    I couldn't find any help on this topic when I searched Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
    I want to create an image map (either in Fireworks or in Dreamweaver) and then send it in an email. I've created image maps in older versions of Dreamweaver, and I've used slices in older versions of Fireworks. I just want different parts of the picture to take me to different URLs, but I haven't even been able to get close in my tests.
    Any tips, please?
    Chuck

    Creating HTML for email is a subject unto itself. Every major email client has different limitations. Before you try just copying an HTML page into an email, you should do some research into creating HTML emails. SitePoint has some articles:
    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/code-html-email-newsletters/
    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/designers-guide-html-email/
    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/principles-beautiful-html-email/
    One of the SitePoint articles links to two services: CampaignMonitor and MailChimp. CampaignMonitor does not recommend the use of image maps becasue of poor support by Gmail:
    http://www.campaignmonitor.com/blog/post/2432/do-image-maps-work-in-html-ema/
    MailChip recommends being careful with image placement simply because many clients will automatically block images when the mail is first loaded:
    http://www.mailchimp.com/articles/stupid-html-email-design-mistakes/
    Both sites have free templates you can download to use.
    Good luck!

  • Property Inspector and Image Maps

    I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 on an Intel Mac Quad Core. On some
    occasions, the legend information (i.e. Link, Target, and alt) next
    to the text fields for the image map area does not display in the
    property inspector. I am still able to enter text in the fields.
    After clicking on another part of the document and then clicking
    back on the image map the problem appears to correct itself.

    So I tried to recover it from other backup projects (different project names but use the same Topic), but they are all also suddenly has changed to "Remote URLs". When I checked/opened the HTM file associated with the Topic in my local directory, it is correctly pointing to the correct popup file, "absence.htm". So the popup file has been detached from the link/broken link.
    So the file is still there but Rh is not seeing it. Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening the project?
    I did not know how this happened because the backup projects that I tried to use is completely located somewhere else and I just copied it onto my local drive.  Is this the Robohelp that is installed on my local PC or something else happened? I hope you can tell me how I can avoid from happening again, please, and how I can change it back to how it was originally set up before that will be a big help. How do I change it back to recover the backup project as well? Do I need to reinstall RH? I have no clue how this happened.
    How are you copying to the backup location? Windows Copy, Zip file etc?
    Is there any source control at play here?
    It could be your installation but please respond to the above first.

  • Mistake creating an Image Map

    Hello, I have a problem with my Image Map. Here are my steps:
    1.Create areas for the Image Map
    2.Create the Image Map with areas
    3.upload the image
    4.create the OTH file
    5.Enable rendering information option
    6.Create KM navigation iView and its layout set mode as default
    All references for directories and for my pic are OK but it doesn´t show any Image Map. I need help please!
    Thank you

    Hi,
       You can follow this example:
    In KM, image maps are used for a graphical depiction of folder contents. These objects are displayed using graphics instead of in their normal text form.
    Step 1 – Determine the image you want to use for navigating. This can be any JPG or GIF file. In this example I will reference the file world.gif.
    Step 2 – Configuring an image map. Take your image file world.gif and place it in the system. For our example place the file in the path: …../knowledgemanagement/etc/public/graphics. The subdirectory “graphics” was created within the public folder.
    Step 3 – In the documents folder, create the following folders:
    •  World
         Within the “World” folder, create the subfolders:
         North America
         South America
         Europe
         Asia
    Note: you can create as many folders as you like. This structure will serve as the navigation structure for world.gif image map.
    Step 4 – Determine the navigation coordinates for the image world.gif. Any tool can be used, for this example the tool GeoHTML was used. It is a freeware tool that can be downloaded from http://www.fegi.ru/geohtml.
    •  The following coordinates were determined for the folders:
         North America: 253, 255, 303, 285
         South America: 424, 171, 474,201
         Europe: 368, 43, 418, 73
         Asia: 276, 37, 326, 67
    Step 5 – Create new link-sensitive Areas for the image map. Menu path: Configuration -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Image Maps -> Areas
    Please note, an area would need to be defined for each area on the image map that would be link-sensitive areas.
    Step 6 – Defining an Image Map. In this step the name of the image map will be defined as well as specifying the path of the image, the tooltip, and lastly assigning the areas.
    Step 7 – Configure an Object Type Handling (OTH) file for the image map. OTH files are located in the /oth subdirectory within the /etc repository. Copy an existing OTH file in this subdirectory and copy it to “world.oth”. In This OTH file, define the navigation path, collection renderer, layout controller, action and image map. The OTH file should look as follows:
      <?xml version="1.0"?>
      <ObjectTypeHandler Name="Image Map world"
    Class="com.sapportals.wcm.service.objecttypehandler.GenericObjectTypeHandler">
    <SelectionCriteria>
      <Paths>
        <Path>/documents/World</Path>
      </Paths>
    </SelectionCriteria>
    <Properties>
      <Property Key="rndCollectionRenderer"              Value="ImageMapRenderer"/>
      <Property Key="LayoutController"                   Value="DefaultLayoutController"/>
      <Property Key="rndShowActions"                      Value="false"/>
      <Property Key="rndMap"                      Value="MapOfWorld"/>
    </Properties>
    <Actions/>
    </ObjectTypeHandler>
    Step 8 – Display the image map. For the navigation iView that is being used, ensure that the iView property “Layout Set Mode” is set to default.
    Step 9 – Reload the object type handler in order for the system to read the new oth file world.oth. This can be done by within the Rendering Information link in any navigation iView for a user that is specified in the Debugging Settings (this is done in the user interface configuration).
    Another option to reloading the object type handler would be restarting the J2EE engine.
    Step 10 – In the navigation iView for this mage map, navigate to the image map. In this example, the menu path would be documents/World
    Patricio.
    ps: If you want I can send you complete example.

  • Map.Entry not supported in queries?

    Hi,
    I tried to run the following JDO query:
    Query query = pm.newQuery(SomeClass.class);
    query.setFilter("someMap.contains(entry) && entry.key == value");
    query.setOrdering("entry.value ascending");
    query.declareVariables("java.util.Map.Entry entry");
    query.declareParameters("String value");
    Object result = query.execute(someValue);
    where someMap is an attribute of SomeClass which is of type java.util.Map
    but I received the following exception:
    kodo.util.UserException: The type "java.util.Map.Entry" as used in the
    variable/parameter declarations could not be found in the imports.
         at kodo.query.AbstractQuery.bindClasses(AbstractQuery.java:1507)
         at kodo.query.AbstractQuery.bindVariables(AbstractQuery.java:1480)
         at kodo.query.AbstractQuery.internalCompile(AbstractQuery.java:501)
         at kodo.query.AbstractQuery.compileForParse(AbstractQuery.java:456)
         at kodo.query.AbstractQuery.getParameterTypes(AbstractQuery.java:1198)
    I've also tried specify Map.Entry as "java.util.Map$Entry" and it also
    doesn't work. Does it mean that Map.Entry or inner classes are not
    supported in queries?
    Someone please help,
    Stephen

    Stephen-
    Map.Entry is not supported in queries (although you could conveivably
    write a query extension that supports it).
    Note that it does look like you can you the supported filter
    "someMap.containsKey(keyParam)" (which would do the same thing as your
    query "someMap.contains(entry) && entry.key == value").

  • CSM map/policy type dns not supported

    When I configure dns maps or dns policies on my CSMs (WS-X6066-SLB-APC, HW 1.7, SW 3.2(2)) they say
    "Map type DNS not supported by card, config accepted." and
    "Policy type DNS not supported by card, config accepted."
    What's the reason for that restriction? Will there be a software release that supports it? Didn't find anything about that in the release notes.
    Many thanks in advance
    Uli

    I too have received this message in the past. I found that it was because I had not entered the GSLB license key into the CSM configuration (GSLB *is* an optional software license).
    You enter your license key via a CSM variable. This configuration would work (substitute your own license key):
    conf t
    mod csm X <- where X is the slot # of your CSM
    variable GSLB_LICENSE_KEY xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Substitute your license key for the row of 'x's. Then you will need to reboot the CSM. If you are running redundant CSM's you will need a license key for each.

  • 'Feature not supported' with maps 3.8 update via N...

    Nokia suite came up with an update today for the maps, installed, phone restarted and when I open Maps message "Feature not supported" seems like people who have updated are facing problem. /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-N8-Software-Update-Nokia-Maps-with-enhanced/td-p/1205909
    Trying to install via beta labs didn't help, when I check application manager I couldn't find maps application anywhere.
    If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

    So far so good... do a back-wards re-install from 3.06 after Uninstall of whatever is the BUG
    Uninstall what you can see in Applications manager. Start with Nokia Maps, ODML Commons Repository and then Nokia Maps Installer. If you have anything that says Ovi Maps. Destroy it too!
    Want to go back to 3.06?
    If you would like to go back to 3.06 version, you will first need to un-install these applications from the Application Manager then re-install 3.06.
    First, un-install these from the Application Manager:
    Check In
    Check In Agent
    Check In Data
    Check In Widget
    Create a Place
    Drive
    Guides
    Headless Map and Navigation
    Map and Navigation
    Map Apps
    Maps Settings Plugin
    ODML Commons Repository
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps
    Nokia (Ovi) MapsEngine
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps Installer
    Nokia (Ovi) Maps ODML
    Weather
    (Helpful Hint: Unistallation process is faster if you uninstall “Ovi Maps” and “Ovi Maps ODML” first.)
    Next, re-install 3.06 from Ovi Store.
    So I have uninstalled the BUGGY version.
    Uninstalled 3.0.8 BUGGED from Nokia Software Updates and Components. Of course, Drive, Weather and Here & Now cannot be seen in Applications Manager.
    Installed ovi_maps_installer_3_06_11wk10_b01_tb9_2_195660.sis
    Seems to be working. Maps in F:\ not destroyed so far; maybe in default E:\ but I do not care about what was in E:\ My world map is in F:\
    Installed ovi_maps_installer_3.07_11wk17_b04_tb9.2_nocs_beta.sis
    Working as well, Maps & Drive... etc.
    Now, trying to do this:
    nokia_maps_installer_3.08_11wk27_b01_TB9.2_NOCS_BETA.sis
    See if it works...
    Then, I will try this...
    nokia_maps_smartinstaller_3.08_11wk34_b01_TB9.2_NOCS_BETA.sis
    Which is the last BETA before this Nokia Software Update.
    BTW. ODML Commons Repository is no longer needed. If you find it in your Applications Manager. Remove it after you successfully install upto the lastest Maps available from Beta Labs before this BAD UPDATE from Nokia Software Update.

    Hi,
    Catalyst 3750-E switches running Cisco IOS Release 12.2(35)SE2 are compatible with Catalyst*3750 switches and Cisco EtherSwitch service modules running Cisco IOS Release*12.2(35)SE. Catalyst 3750-E switches, Catalyst 3750 switches, and Cisco EtherSwitch service modules can be in the same switch stack. In this switch stack, we recommend that the Catalyst*3750-E switch be the stack master.

  • ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode

    hi
    In the blog post "Running ADF Faces applications with IE 9 in IE 8 compatibility mode "
    at https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/running_adf_faces_applications_with_ie_9_in_ie_8_compatibility_mode
    Frank Nimphius explains about headers to make IE browsers behave like a previous version (in compatibility mode), but ends with this support information:
    Very Important(!)
    ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode. If using ADF Faces on IE in production, make sure IE is configured to run in native mode. Compatibility mode may only be used during development if your IE version is not certified with the JDeveloper version you work with. In production then you need to make sure the IE version matches the JDeveloper certification matrix.Reviewing the Release 1 "Certification and Support Matrix "
    at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html#Browsers
    it currently says
    "For Internet Explorer 8 and 9, only Native mode is supported. View Compatibility mode should be disabled. "
    But there currently are no hits when searching for "compatibility" in the Release 2 "Certification and Support Matrix "
    at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/jdev11gr2-cert-405181.html#Browsers
    - (q1) ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode, how much of that applies to JDeveloper Release 2 and where has it been documented?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Frank.
