Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

• I was going to purchase Office for Mac 2011, including Outlook. However, I am hearing many problems with this software including the inability to sync Outlook with iPhone and iPad

I currently sync my iPhone and iPad with Outlook on my Windows Desktop, but want to switch and still do this on my new Mac running Lion. However what I am reading about the nightmares of syncing with Outlook in Office for Mac 2011 is making me think twice about going down this road. What an awful situation of purchasing a Mac and being potentially stumped by 'Office for Mac 2011'.
I want to continue using Microsoft Office including Outlook for my business applications - but on the Mac. I like Keynote for presentations, however I also have to create presentations in PowerPoint for some business situations. So, although I don't ideally want to put Windows onto my Mac, would it be more efficient and less hassle to use Parallels 7, Windows 7 and Office 2010, rather than endure the issues associated with OFM 2011?
If I decide to use Parallels 7 and Windows 7 am I then into using software to protect against virus' and malware?
I wouldn't be asking this question if Office for Mac 2011 (including Outlook) wasn't a problem - sadly from what I'm reading, it is.
Thank you in anticipation.

I just resolved my Outlook 2010 + iPhone Calendar sync issue today : if you have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook (like I do), then you'll find that each account has it's own Calendar (a rather pointless feature IMO). However you probably only use one Calendar like most people, and what has happened is that the mail account which is set as default for Data Files is not the one you are using. Try this:
Outlook 2010 --> Account Settings --> click "Data Files" tab --> select as default whichever acct. is associted with the Calendar you use.

After calling AT&T tech support one more time, and explaining to them that the glitch was on their network, they admitted that the problem was at their tower...
I continued to use the phone on EDGE mode for two more days until the problem was fixed.
I even got a call back from a tech support guy asking me if my phone was working properly....
I wish they would have admitted to the problem before I sat at the apple store for 2 hours.

• Is mail ever going to be fixed?

Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks, my macmail has been difficult - slow to load new emails, jumbled up sender listings, just generally a problem. Is there ever going to be an update to get it back to normal?

My Mail works fine. Thus I suspect the problems you describe are related to software problems with your own OSX installation. And a software update is not the issue.
To troubleshoot your software problem, you could try a few things, roughly in this order:
If you have any third-party mail related software, uninstall it.
Try a safe boot (restart, hold down shift until you see the Apple logo). This does some diagnostic testing and then starts up without third-party added on software. If this eliminates the problems with Mail, then you know the problem is with some third-party software. A safe boot doesn't fix anything, but it tells you where the problem is. Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? If the safe boot does indeed eliminate the problems with Mail, then you can try to eliminate the third party software that is causing the problem.
try a test user account: create a new user account. Recreate your mail accounts in that new account and see how Mail runs. If the problems are gone, then you know the problems are in your old user account.
Boot into your recovery partition (restart, hold down ⌘R until you see the Apple logo), and use Disk Utility to repair your hard drive. Repair permissions too while you're there. OS X: About OS X Recovery
sometimes there is a problem with OSX that Disk Utility can't fix, and the solution is to reinstall OSX over your current installation. That usually works for OSX problems.

• Is the Burning Speed Issue Ever Going To Be Fixed?

Used to burn a CD in 3 minutes, now 18-20 minutes. Like a lot of people, it will now only burn at 4X speed. Have seen a lot of posts on this, but never a response on what is going on. Don't have the burner or music on external, so it eliminates that issue. Somehow something forces the speed down, and I have tried all kinds of different cd's and they all behave the same. Has anyone been able to pinpoint or fix this problem?

The difference between USB 2 and USB 3 is mainly one of supported data transfer rates, the basics of the protocol (identifying devices, bus arbitration, etc) are the same. The differences don't impact a keyboard at all, since the fastest data rate a keyboard is capable of generating under normal use (~150 words per minute by a phenomenally skilled typist) is many orders of magnitude slower than the average USB data transfer rate - probably quite literally a million times slower.
Most keyboards actually negotiate the port they are using down to USB 1.1 mode, as they make best use of that particular data transfer scenario (less data more often with less latency on the initial packet of a transfer).
Generally, when people ask about a keyboard being "updated" to USB 3, they mean they want the additional USB ports on the keyboard to support USB 3, not that teh keyboard itself use USB 3.
In any case, your situation sounds more like a bad keyboard to me...have you tried using a different Apple Extended Keyboard with the iMac?

• Home Sharing - ever going to be fixed?

I seem to be having progressively more trouble with Home Sharing; for something that should work so simply, it fails much too regularly.
My iTunes library is hosted from an always on machine wired directly into the main network router (Draytek Vigor 2830n). Two iPhones, an iPad and an Apple TV access it wirelessly. (The iPhones & iPad acces directly through the Draytek's built in wireless n broadcast; the Apple TV had trouble with this, so I have an alternative B/G access point connected for devices incapable of Wireless N).
The first problem is the speed - when I select the library it takes a very long time (I'm talking 3+ minutes) before I can browse the shared library, and then thumbnails take an age to load. Once loaded, however, music/video can be started streaming very quickly.
The next issue is the way media is arranged (particularly video) within the Home Sharing environment. TV Shows are arranged by Season rather than by show, and I can find no way to change this. Everything is just called 'Season 1', 'Season 2' etc; so the only way to choose what to watch is to wait for the thumbnails to load.
Then there is the problem when trying to watch a video in iTunes running on a different computer. While SD streams reasonably (still slow to load), the moment you try to watch an HD film, you get the audio track with a string of still frames that change periodically like a slideshow. This despite both PCs being wired directly into the Draytek on Gigabit connections.
And then, of course, there's the fact that Home Sharing just stops working altogether for no apparent reason - almost every day. Just about every time you come to use it, you have to restart the device, close & reopen iTunes, turn off HS and back on again and reboot your PC. Any or all of these can be absolutely necessary just to get to watch a single movie /TV episode, or to put some music on. Yet AirPlay is often unaffected (although not always).
So come on, Apple. I bought an Apple TV to make use of this wonderful idea and save myself £100s on building HTPCs. I've also invested hours & hours converting my media library to MP4 (M4V) , but so far I'm seriously underwhemled.
Unless, of course, anybody has any solutions?

I had the same issue - http://whrl.pl/RdxWMH

• Is quicktime ever going to be fixed... it's been rubbish for years.

I have a large number of audiobooks, I join the mp3 files into one big one then convert them to m4b in Itunes or MP3 to Ipod audiobook converter. These always played perfectly on my iPod classic, many of them won't play now I have a touch, they won't play on iPhone or iPad either. I'm guessing that IOS devices use quicktime as a media player as they wont play on quicktime either. (Error -2014: the movie contains an incorrect duration). If I try to play the original MP3 files they report incorrect times and do not play correctly either.
All of my MP3 files pass an MP3 check. All of MP3 and m4b files play perfectly on any Nano or Classic player, or any MP3 player I have tried.(lots) and will all play perfectly with iTunes, Media player, Zune, VLC etc. etc. it is ONLY ios devices and quicktime that have a problem.
I have seen this problem reported before, it has been around many years and Apple don't appear to have the ability or inclination to fix it...
I guess it is down to the fact that they hate windows users, it is similar to the USB problem that occurred at ios 5 release, you have to plug it into a motherboard (not hubs even though every other USB device works ONLY the touch doesn't) USB port or the device is no longer recognised.
Apple are well aware of the problem, they just don't care (100 odd billion in the bank they can afford the arrogance).
Would love to know if anyone has found a fix for the audiobook problem...

• Firefox still does not remember some passwords. Is this ever going to be fixed? I've had to switch to Chrome because of it.

I never had problems with earlier versions of Firefox, but starting several versions ago (I don't remember which one now), it started forgetting some of them. The worst problems have been with Facebook, which is the one I visit most often except for my ISP's spam filetered mail. That site has not had any problems. I'm using Windows 7 with the latest updates. Firefox 12.0, Norton AV (2012), Windows 7 firewall. I can't think of anything else that might affect the browswer, and Chrome has had no problems with the passwords. I have IE and Opera, neither of which I use enough to have noticed problems.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.

• Adobe: Is Halo ever going to be deprecated (or is it now) and removed entirely?

As it seems to have become a second class citizen, so to speak.

I don't agree that Spark is "built on top" of Halo. I'd be interested in any links to sites making this claim.
From what I've seen, Spark components only extend UIComponent (necessarily), but I wouldn't say this builds on Halo. Spark's Button doesn't extend Halo's Button (and I'm sure it couldn't be made to work as intended if it did). So as far as Spark is concerned, the removal of many Halo components won't amount to much (but would amount to plenty for older apps).
Meh. Hopefully sticking with an older SDK will be sufficient in most cases.

• Are they ever going to get adobe flash for the iphone?

One thing you can do on windows based phones, which you cant on iphones is watch or use anything that is adobe flash. I get nba league pass every year, and would love to be able to stream games on my phone while at work, but it cant be done. Cant even go to nba.com and get scores. But there are also a ton of sites that use adobe flash, but dont work on the iphone. If they truly want to make this like a mini computer, including adobe flash would make this the only phone you would need.

Windows mobile devices have a Flash-lite version, which is compatible with most flash provided content but not all - hence the "lite" included with the name.
Apple has stated they aren't interested in the Flash-lite version which is limited, and the full version is a processor hog on a Mac or Windows PC.
It is up to Adobe to provide a plugin version that meets Apple's approval and no one here knows if or when that will occur.
