Is iChat available for OS X Lion?

I just bought a new mac and was wondering if iChat is around or if its just FaceTime now

HI,
If iChat is not in the DOCK and you want to "Bring It back" as in earlier versions of the OS, then open the Applications Folder and Drag the iChat icon to the DOCK.  This recreates the icon and the Link back to the App so it will lauch from the DOCK if yiou want it to.

My reply to that.
Although in Lion it is not in the DOCK automatically like previous versions, it is in the Applications Folder.
Mordejai's Question
Alright, but how can you get iChat back if you prefer it so . For example how can i get iChat (i have the same issue as him )
(some capitals Lettters added and a word removed for grammar purposes)
Clearly states it is the SAME Issue of iChat not being in the DOCK.

  • Update available for Lion only app - how to get rid of it?

    Hi,
The App Store indicates that I have an app (linesmART) which is available for update, but when clicking the update button, a dialog box shows up saying it can't be updated because it requires OS X 10.7. I can imagine this will happen for other apps that will be Lion only soon or later.
This doesn't make sense though, that the App Store indicates in red there's an update that can't be updated! Is there a way to get rid of that message? Why doesn't App Store check if the available updates are compatible or not with the OS X version installed on our Macs, and show the compatible updates only?

  • Is iChat available in Mountain Lion?

Is iChat available in Mountain Lion?  If so, how do I use it and connect with a contact who, I think, has Leopard with iChat.

iChat is now Messages. Still has the features of iChat (and more).

If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

  • I have snow leopard 10.6.8 and want to get on iCloud which requires Lion... should I buy Lion at $29.99 now and upgrade to Mountain Lion whne available (I can't see where it is available for download yet) and what is cost of upgrade to Mountain Lion?

I would wait for Mountain Lion to be released. According to Apple, Mountain Lion will be released by end of July 2012.
It will cost you only $19.99 to upgrade. You can find all the details at the following link...

It has to be 10.6.8 I believe, before you can upgrade to Lion. I found some more info, please check out: http://www.informationweek.com/byte/howto/personal-tech/desktop-os/231001728
Be sure all your programms will work on Lion. Power PC programms do not work anymore (eg Nikon Scan 4 will not work from now on on Mac OS X). Some versions of Canon utilities for camera's do not work, Canon still have to upgrade. For an App Compatibility Table: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Is Lion (not Mountain Lion) still available for upgrading from snow leopard

Is Lion (not mountain lion) still available for download and upgrading from snow leopard?

Lion is no longer available from the Mac App Store. Even the thumb drive version has been withdrawn. It should be possible to get it by calling Apple Phone Sales.

  • Will Lion still be available for download when Mountain Lion is released?

    Hi all,
My Mac mini is still running Snow Leopard. I have been tempted to wait for Mountain Lion to be released before upgrading, but am now concerned that Lion (10.7) may no longer be available for download on the store after Mountain Lion (10.8) is released should I want to run it instead.
Does anyone know whether Lion will continue to be purchaseable?
    Thanks!

You can purchase, download and archive the Lion installer now and save it for future use if it is not available later...

  • Is there an external hard drive available for Lion?

Is there an external hard drive available for Mac  OS X v10.7?

How big of a drive do you want? Western Digital USB MyPassport drives work great and are inexpensive. You can buy them Mac formatted or just buy one that isn't and use Disk Utilities to format it for a Mac. As far as I know any of the external drives will work with OS X Lion.
I use a 500GB MyPassport. My MacBook Pro mid-2010 has a 320GB drive and i'm using less than 60GB so the 500GB external is plenty for my back up needs. I use it with Time Machine and SuperDuper! (for bootable images) in Lion.

  • Why is Mountain Lion not available for Mac Pro 2007???

Why is Mountain Lion not available for Macpro 2007 eventhough this computer is not having old generation hardware like of 15years ago's computers!! I am surprised to know about that. when this mac pro have 2 xeon processor, 8GB ram, OS 10.7.5 (Lion) etc etc. so why is this not compatible for mountain lion???
Very Sad for us - the buyer of so costly Macpro ....
so does the Apple want to say we should buy or upgrade our purchased costly apple products every 5 years ??!!

  • IMac 5 running Mountain Lion I get message "your Mac OSX start up disc has no more space available for application memory" I have moved approx. 6 apps from the dock but still get same message, what e

Receiving message  "your Mac OSX start up disc has no more space available for application memory."
This has just started in past week, I removed about 6 apps from dock to see if it cleared it but message still appears.  Mac is iMac 5 with Mountain Lion (10.8.4)
    Would appreciate some help.

The message has nothing to do with available disk space. There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
In the Activity Monitor application, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the  Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.
