Is iCloud messing up my iTunes?

Hello everyone, I'm going to get straight to the point - I feel like iCloud is moving my music around in my iTunes library.
I've had this problem for quite some time now... so I like to keep my iTunes library pretty organized, and as we all know, iTunes does not always have their info correct in the music store (an example would be: they have a Hard Rock band listed under Pop. Or perhaps there is a typo and they spelled a song title wrong).
So when I buy something from the iTunes Store (to make this simple lets say its an album by "Faith No More"), the album is listed under the "Rock" genre in my library. So I decide I want it to be listed under the correct genre which would be "Alternative Metal". So I switch the album over and then close out of iTunes.
When I come back a day later (or whenever) that same Faith No More album is back under the "Rock" genre and then I have to switch it over again to the correct genre. And this is not happening with just one album or artist. Its happening with a handful of artists, albums and songs and making my library a mess.
Is there a way to solve this? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it happening because of iCloud?
Any help, advice or even a "yes this has happened to me" would be helpful.
Thank You
P.S. I'm running iTunes 11.2.2 (3) on a Macbook Pro

Yes, others have commented on this.  No, there isn't really a good solution.  Complain to Apple via feedback.
2014 discussion about edited tags for Store purchases reverting to originals - https://discussions.apple.com/message/26077896 - edited tags are still present in the media file but revert to the originals in the iTunes library file. Workaround is to refresh tags so media file tags are re-read and used in library file. https://discussions.apple.com/message/26193185 Send feedback to Apple about this so they know it is an issue they need to investigate: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • I have a pc, iphone 4s and ipad2, my daughter has an iphone 4s and macbook pro.  I want to share an itunes account.  Can there be two icloud accounts sharing one itunes account?

Between my daughter and I, we have 6 devices, can they all share the same itunes account and have two separate icloud accounts?  My itunes account ID is different from my apple ID and my daughter's apple ID.  Is it ok that they are all different.  If yes, how do they all sync up if they are different?  Help!!!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes that will work, enter the iTunes Store details into itunes on the computer and into settings > Store on your iOS devices in all cases, enter your iCloud Sync ID into system preferences > iCloud on the computer and settings > iCloud on iOS devices as required for each iCloud ID.

  • HT204053 i use one apple id for icloud and one for itunes  and now it wont let me since i reset my phone now  i up graded to iphone 4s still the same problem

please help me fix this problem I have one id  for icloud and one for itunes that i share with my husband

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I received an Iphone 5 as a gift two days ago. The first thing I did was set up ICloud for photos. Itunes would not allow me to add songs to my new phone without restoring it, yet when I did this, it deleted all 129 photos of my graduation and friends from the past two days. And I cannot find them anywhere, photo stream, ICloud, nothing. Where can I get back my memories?

Were the photos taken by your new iPhone?  If so, did you not import them off your phone to your computer (as you would any other digital camera) before the restore?  If not, restoring wiped the data off the phone and your pictures are gone.
Sounds like a good time to (re)read the User Guide.

You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

You will need to contact the previous owner of the iPhone in order to change the Apple ID.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • HT201079 Under iCloud family sharing for iTunes is a family member other than the organizer able to make purchases

Under iCloud family sharing for iTunes is a family member other than the organizer able to make purchases?

Any member of the family group can make purchases, but they are all charged to the organizer's credit card.  For children (under 13) you can also enable Ask to Buy, and their purchases will require your approval (see Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids).

  • HT204053 can i purchase more iCloud storage with my iTunes gift card

Can I purchase more iCloud storage with my iTunes gift card

Provide the iTunes Store with a credit card number(iCloud storage upgrades are a subscription and not a one-time purchase), redeem the gift card if you haven't already done so, and get the upgrade. The credit card won't be charged if the unspent balance is large enough to pay for it.

  • Can I use icloud to store my iTunes library music in order to free up storage/usage space on my iPhone?

Can I use icloud to store my iTunes music library in order to free up usage space on my iPhone and iPad?

iTunes match is a true streaming service when it comes to playback from your PC. That means, you can load everything into the cloud and stream from the cloud to your PC.
To an iPhone or iPad, it's stream-and-save, meaning it will download and play immediately, but it will be saved to the device.
So yes, you can load everything up (assuming it all loads properly without problems) and stream to your PC.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
To iCloud for non iTunes purchases only if you subscribe to the paid iTunes Match service
    To the computer by:

Its not entirely clear what it is you want to do. You can't actually "merge" backups; each back up is a snapshot based function and a discrete file. Some of these articles may help, you could could pst back with a little more detail about what you want to accomplish.:
