Is icloud part of ios8?

I'm rather new at this, but I don't remember using icloud before downloading ios 8.  Now it seems to be necessary.  Tell me if I am on the wrong track.  I haven't accepted icloud terms and conditions thinking I didn't need icloud, But since I keep loosing my WiFi I would like to know if that is the problem.  Please help!

iCloud has been around since iOS 5.  You will need a reliable internet connection to accept the terms and conditions and sign into iCloud.

  • After installing Ios8 my iphone wont get past the "icloud part" of the setup phase.

So i installed IOS8 off my macbook pro onto my iphone 5 (not iphone 5s) and waited a couple minutes for it to finish, everything went smooth untill it finished. and i opened and unlocked my iphone. I first connected to Wifi which worked no problem. Then it said "To finish setting up ICloud enter the Apple ID password for (my apple ID)" so i enter the password Correctly and it will switch pages for about 2-3 seconds and say "updating your ICloud settings" but then it will just turn off the screen and go back to the Welcome screen where i have to unlock the phone and do the whole process over again. I've tried skipping that step. Ive tried doing it connected to Wifi and not connected, I've left it over night and tried again in the mornning, no luck. Please help!

You won't be able to check your email without adding it, but if you're stuck at the welcome to mail screen, you should got to Settings>Mail Contacts Calendars and select your icloud account. Make sure that it's not asking you for a password or stuck on verifying.
What I would do is select delete account from there and sign back into icloud

  • How to open iCloud documents with ios8

    hi,
i recently updated my iPad to ios8. and when it asked me to install iCloud drive i said yes.
Now when i open pages on my iPad, there are no documents.
when i go to iCloud.com on my mac i can see those documents, so they still exist.
how can i open my 'iCloud'  documents on pages on my iPad?
most forums say i need to install the beta version of os yosemite, whom installation is not working those days.
the only thing i can do was to open a document on iCloud.com on my mac and send it to me via email. from my iPad i could read that email and open the document in pages. But this work only with small documents, a document bigger than 20 Mo, cannot be sent via email ( i'm using gmail)
please help me, i really need those documents, i'm working with them.
    thank you

Does anyone know how to open pages document with windows vista? i saved it onto a usb stick but when i tried to open it on the computers in my university which support windows vista, it didnt reconise the file and opened with a page of question marks!!!! Im panicking now!!!!!
You cannot open it on Windows Vista. The only application in the world that opens a Pages document is Pages, and it is Mac OS X only.
    Your options:
    1. Find a Mac with Pages installed, and save the document as doc or pdf, which you can open on Vista.
    or, if that is impossible,
    2. Open the files in a texteditor like Notepad.exe on Windows and try to piece text fragments together to get at least part of your original text back. The images should also be available somewhere, even though all formatting is gone.

  • Is it possible to delete iCloud drive from ios8 device

I updated my iPad to IOS8,  not thinking I said yes to iCloud drive.  I use my iPad to type minutes at a meeting and then complete them on my iMac.  Since I do not have Yosemite yet, if I type on my iPad will I not be able to access the document on my Mac?  I have all my completed documents saved on my mac but will any new ones be lost in space if they are started on the iPad?    Is it possible to delete iCloud drive from the iPad.  I know I can turn it off, but that won't help.  Maybe I will be lucky and Yosemite will come out before my next meeting.  It looks like I could probably email a copy from my iPad to my iMac as a pages doc. and then be able to open it in pages.
    Thanks
    Judy

    Hi David:
Thanks.  I see that I could open in icloud pages and I guess work on it there.  I have never worked that way before.  Can you save it back to the mac?  or just to  iCloud?  And I have to send out copies to board members which, I guess, can be done there.  Thanks for your input.  I feel so stupid,;  I even saw the "small print".  Oh well.

  • Change iCloud account in IOS8

My son has forgotten his iCloud password and the security questions. I Googled how to delete the account but all the instructions I read don't work in IOS8. I can't delete the account without the password. As a last resort I tried to restore the iPad but it says I have to turn off FindMyIpad and I again need the password to do that. How can I get around all this?

Same problem. Very frustrating. I think we have to contact Apple to turn off find my iPad.

  • Read pdf files stored in icloud drive from ios8

Ok. So how do I Access and read my PDF files stored in icloud drive from my ipad?
I´ve read that there´s no icloud drive App like dropbox and that it has to be done from a third party App. (strange enough), but I can´t seem to find a third party App that connects to icloud drive yet.
    Thanks.

The Apple website specifically states "Because with iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images and any other kind of document in iCloud and access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC.".
Now, howe do I "store my PDF" and "access them from my iPhone"?

  • Numbers+ on Mac iCloud NA after iOS8

Using 10.9.5 & iCloud on my MacBook Air.
Since updating the iPhone & iPads to OS8 I am told I cannot access Numbers_Pages_Keynote etc till I update my MBA to 10.10. & iCloud Drive.
Don't really want to update my main Mac to Yosemite till GM. and there doesn't seem to be a way to access the numbers spreadsheets etc put on iCloud via the iPads and phones without just using them which really negates the reason for using iCloud in the first place.
Options? ideas ?  or just forget iCloud till October..

I am experiencing the same problems and tried using dropbox as a temporary solution. It doesn't work so well. I will use google drive but only people who have the iworks apps on Mac and iOS will be able to access it. The web app for beta numbers, etc for collaboration I thought was great even for non Mac users until I talked with  Apple Support. They told me its a beta so they don't need to support it and can get rid of it anytime. Not sure I would want to invest time on something that the company doesn't support. I loved using Numbers but this iCloud Drive and Beta Web apps limitations is a concern when solid and dependable business applications is a must. I think you are better off with Google Drive...much less limitations than iCloud Drive.

  • Cannot change iCloud ID in iOS8 - Can't Sign Out without turning off Find My iPad - which needs the password for the old iCloud ID

I have read the older responses to questions re how to change the iCloud account from an old ID/email address (OLD ID) - to a new ID/email address (CURRENT ID).  They all say go to Settings>iCloud - and Delete the iCloud account.  In iOS 8 - there is no Delete - but there is a Sign Out.  BUT - when I choose the Sign Out it shows a pop-up with the OLD iCloud ID - saying I must first sign IN to iCloud and enter a Password Required to turn off the Find My iPad feature.
I have tried using the password I remember as being correct for the OLD iCloud ID.  Doesn't work.
I have tried using the password for the CURRENT ID - even though the pop-up has the OLD ID displayed.  Doesn't work.
I'm out of ideas - except Reset??
    Should I Reset All Settings?

I finally found a work-around in another thread on this Using iPad community.  Basically, I had to first make sure that the Messages and Facetime were associated with the CURRENT/NEW ID.  (I could do this by simply erasing the OLD ID and typing in the new - in General>Messages and General>Facetime.  I then used by PC to change my Apple ID back to the OLD ID/EMAIL - but leave the new password alone.
I then went back to Settings>iCloud - clicked on Sign Out.  When it asked me to log on -- with the OLD ID/EMAIL -- to turn off the Find My Phone - I did so using the Password that was originally used with the CURRENT/NEW ID.  This worked.  So I finally was able to close out of the iCloud account that used the OLD ID/EMAIL.
I then went back on my PC to change my Apple ID back to the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
I then went back to the iPad Settings>iCloud - and signed on using the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
    So everything is OK now.
    WHEW!!!
Not sure why this has to be so difficult.  But thanks everyone for your suggestions.

  • On installing the new ios7 software update I was unable to successfully update the iCloud part and ended up skipping it. Now from settings the iCloud page keeps freezing up

How to complete the iCloud update process without it taking forever as it has been doing?

    try rebooting the ipad
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
then go back to settings/icloud and set up again

  • ICloud doesn't have the music part. Why is that?

The other iCloud parts ca be found. I know that there is a note about this subject on the Apple website.

You would have to subscribe to a plan from your carrier that provides this feature.

  • ICloud Sync - Multiple devices and one AppleID

So your contacts and calendar will sync automatically between your Mac, iPhone, iPad.  And you can backup your stuff.  And it does this based on your AppleID.
I, like I suspect many others, have an iPhone and iPad for me and my significant other.  And we have two Macs.  We both used the same AppleID.  We clearly would not want to "merge" our contacts and calendars, or any backups.
Why do we share an AppleID?  So we only have to purchase music, iOS apps, Mac apps, once for the family.  Multiple AppleIDs is not an option as that negates a primary benefit of the Apple ecosystem.  Apple has been pretty family friendly up to this point.  You can share an AppleID with 5 devices today (if you have that many Macs or PCs), in my case we are talking 2.  And they did still say you can buy Lion in the app store and use it on all your AppleID authorized machines.
I suppose you could maybe just turn all that stuff off and forget the iCloud part of Lion and iOS5.  But I have to believe that is going to cut out a significant segment of the population from using iCloud services.
Anyone know how Apple is going to handle that situation?

OK, here is how do make this work.  All the details I can think of to give . ..
On any IOS device there is an entry for the Apple ID to be used for store purchases.  You will find this in Settings > Store.
On any IOS device there are several Apple ID entries for using iCloud services.  You will find these in Settings > iCloud and Settings > Messages.
Then there are also Apple ID entries in some apps, like Facetime, Find my Friends, . . .
Set them as you wish.  If you have a shared family Apple ID for purchases then put that one in Store.  And give each family member their own Apple ID for iCloud.
This is also true on your Mac.  For the iCloud settings you can use one Apple ID, and a different one for the iTunes store.
Cannot get any easier than that.
In my case I am using one Apple ID for the Store, and separate iCloud Apple IDs for each family member.  That way someone does not use the wrong ID and trash the person who would be using the Store Apple ID.  There is no personal data on the Store Apple ID.  Seems much safer and logical that way (to me).  However, there is no reason why you could not have the Store Apple ID also be used by one person for iCloud.
Not sure what else can be said here.  Apple provided a good solution for those of us who have been sharing an Apple ID in the family.  Thanks Apple!

  • My iCloud on my mac has a screen with a little padlock in the upper right corner and won't let me do anything, i can't even shut down my computer. how do i fix this?

I went into system preferences to sync icloud to my iphone, and i guess i left it up and now everytime i click system preferences the icloud part comes up. That part has a white screen over it with a little padlock in the upper right hand corner, and because of this i can't even restart my computer. Can somone please help me, thank you!

    Hey,
I'm having the same problem as well, but on the battery drain however, you can drain it faster by using voice control. If you have music on your device, you can use the voice control to play the music. Still takes a lot of time, but at least it goes faster. By the way, I tried running down the battery for over 10 times now, but it still does nothing. If this is in your case as well, it could be a loose lcd cable and you need to get it repaired or try yourself. There should be some good tutorials on the web.
    Hope this helps...

  • Where is the iCloud Drive app icon (folder) in iOS 8? Like the one the show on their website.

I am running Yosemite on my Macs and updated to ios8 on all of my iPads and iPhone. Yet, I have found no way to access my iCloud Drive folder on the mobile devices. The Apple website for iCloud clearly shows iOS devices viewing an iCloud drive folder with end user customized sub-folders. I called tech support and they agreed that that's what the website was showing but informed me that as iCloud Drive and ios8 are so new they did not know yet how to set them up. I arrange my files by project not program and I need to view PDFs and other non iWork's files. Does anyone out there have a clue? Thank you.

I'm not using it, but my understanding is that you can only access iCloud Drive documents on an iOS device from within an app that is iCloud Drive compatible.  At least at the present time, there isn't an iCloud Drive app for an iOS device that provides general access to documents.  See http://www.imore.com/icloud-drive-clearing-up-confusion.
