Is IDVD 7 compatible with Mountain Lion?

Apparently I need to get a disc with the older IDVD 7 on it to run on my MacBook Pro retina with Mountain Lion OSX 8.2.
Will it work?
Thanks for the help

Yes, BUT:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Is iDVD compatible with Mountain Lion?

I currently have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8 on it.  I also have on it iDVD version 7.1.2, which is the main reason I bought the MacBook.  I am a teacher who uses iDVD often and it does me no good to not be able to have the burn capability that iDVD offers.
My question is this:  If I upgrade to the newest version of Mountain Lion will I lose my IDVD?  I have read so many differering opinions and I have a friend who got a newer MacBookPro and the iDVD is not on it.  I would like to update to a new OSX version but do not want any issues with my iDVD, which is why I bought the mac.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks so much-
    Bonnie

f I purchase a boxed iLife '11 can I just install the iDVD and not the other applications?
Yes, but you won't be able to get all of the iDVD themes.
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

    Hello royalaqua,
I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year.   Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases.   Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

  • How can I find Lion to download it to my Mac Boook/  It is the white plastic model and is now running Snow Leopard.  It has 4 GB of Ram but this computer is not compatible with MOuntain Lion.  I cannot find Lion anywhere.

How can I find Lion to download it to my Mac Book?  It has Snow Leopard and 4GB RAM but it the white plastic model and is not compatible with Mountain Lion.  I have been told by the Genius Bar that it will handle Lion.

That underpowered model is better left on 10.6.8 for performance reasons, also the fact that it's dated and 10.7 will likely require you to buy alll new software to replace the PPC based software your currently using.
If you insist, then call Apple via phone and they will sell you 10.7 Lion and provide a link to download it.
My 2¢ is to save up for a new machine, as that one is about to kick the bucket, they only last about 4.5 years or so depending upon use/enviroment.
If your having problems with 10.6.8, perhaps some of the links here can assist, 10.6 is faster than 10.7 in fresh install tests.

I would be interested to know if Nova's Art Explosion 800,000 in compatible with Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2. This is one of the clip art software programs I am considering. If this program is not compatible, can anyone recommend a compatible program I could use that is as complete as this one seems to be?

  • Will Elements 6 be compatible with Mountain Lion?

Will Phoptoshop Elements 6 be compatible with Mountain Lion?

    Keith... other folks as well.
I finally saw Terrence's link (RoaringApps) and went there.  I can't believe I missed it.  Apparently Elements 6 will be OK. THANK YOU TERRENCE!  I suppose I could upgrade, but I'm so familiar with 6 I'm reluctant to leave it unless there's no other way out. I read the specs for Elements 10 and I see what might be a problem with meeting their spec requirements.
I thought the simplest solution might be to upgrade to Lion.  Can't find it for sale anywhere. Oh well... and all this is to solve a recurring, stupid, blankety blank email problem.

  • Is CS 5 compatible with Mountain Lion OS?

Is CS 5 compatible with Mountain Lion OS?

Yes, we can confirm that Audition CS6 is compliant with Mountain Lion (Mac OS 10.8) and their are currently no known issues between the product and the new OS.
While Audition CS5.5 is not the latest version of Audition, I can also confirm that it appears to work just fine as well.
With the minimal backend architectural changes made to the new Mac OS (between Lion and Mountain Lion), we see no reason for users to be concerned.
    I hope that helps.
