Is iLife free for OS X Lion?

Hello,
My company has issued me a 15" Macbook Pro ast Sept 2011, but could not seem to install iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, etc.) applications without paying for it. I've never had any opportunity to "accept" it from MAS, so do I really need to purchase these application separately?

  • Is iLife free for iPad mini 3?

Recently bought an iPad mini 3...iMovie and other Apple apps are paid ...is there something wrong?

You are logged in with the same account that you originally activated the iPad with ? If you are then they (iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Numbers, Keynote) should be free to download (click on the 'iPad App Collections' button at the bottom of the Featured tab in the store, then 'Apps Made By Apple' on the next screen) : Free Apple apps for your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 8 - Apple Support
If they aren't showing as free then try logging out of your account by tapping on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab and then log back in and see if they then show as free.

  • Is imovie free for Mountain Lion?

One month after upgrading to Mountain Lion, I decided to buy iPhoto for 20$. during the purchase, App store announced that this is free for ML. Now I am thinking perhaps other iLife products are free also and I am losing them!

But I had not bought iPhoto before. I just had Lion OSX.
When did you buy your Mac?  Did it come with Lion installed?
If so, you should have already had iPhoto '11 (v. 9) and shouldn't have had to pay for the latest update.
What happens if you run Software Update under the Apple Menu?

  • Can I upgrade to iLife '11 for free?

    Hi,
I purchased a new iMac a couple months ago.  It came installed with Snow Leopard and iLife '11.  I also have a late 2009 MacBook.  The MacBook has Snow Leopard and iLife '09 installed on it.  I had since installed Lion on my new iMac for free with the upgrade voucher.
When I went in the Mac App Store to install Lion on my MacBook the purchase icon didn't give a price, it just said "install", so it was free to upgrade my MacBook to Lion.  However, when I look at the iLife '11 apps, they all show a price of $14.99.  Should I be entitled to upgrade my MacBook to iLife '11 for free because I bought a new iMac?  Will I be charged if I install the apps on my MacBook?
    Thanks,
    NM

You say you are running Lion.
All the new apps, iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, all require Mavericks to be installed first.
So, download and install Mavericks for free on both computers if you haven't already, and then proceed below.
    On your new iMac.
Sign in to the Mac App store with your Apple ID.
Do you see your purchases there?
If so, then sign into the Mac App Store on your Macbook with the same Apple ID.
The purchases should be identical to your iMac or any other computer that you log into the Mac App Store using the exact same Apple ID.
If you have several Apple ID's, then the purchases will most likely be different.
Only use the same Apple ID when logging in from any device.
Let us know what you find.

I participated in getting the free download of Mountain Lion for new Mac owners. It took me three days to finally get a code to do it and when I tried downloading it, the estimated time was 74 days 17 hours. Now an error occurred. What do I do? I am very frustrated and just want the great software to download in a resonalbe time!

Take your Mac to a location with a fast, relaible Internet connection that will be all yours during the duration of the download.
If you want to complain, PLEASE call Apple and do so.
Internet only downloads of OS X is completely stupid, it assumes everyone has reliable Internet everywhere and /or no data caps.

  • I only got second email for free OS X mountain lion upgrade

I got approved for free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade but I haven't received first email that contain PDF file. but I got a email with password to open PDF.
    any idea?

I received TWO OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Password Emails, but no email with the PDF content code on July 27, 2012.
The email said "If you did not receive an email from the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program with your content code, please check your spam filter settings for attachment restrictions and contact us at [email protected] to have this email and your content code re-sent."
I checked my spam folder & didn't see anything. I emailed asking for the content code email to be resent, just like the email said. I got what I assume was an automated response on July 31, 2012 (4 days later). That email said:
Thank you for contacting the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Support Team regarding your request to change the email address associated with your claim.
In order to change the email address, please send the following information to [email protected]
    Your Claim reference number
    Original email address
    Revised email address
    Requester name:
    Requester address
    Requester phone number
The reason I assumed it was automated is because the parts above in red were highlighted in my email. I emailed [email protected] again indicating that I just need the content code resent. I received the SAME automated email on August 2, 2012 (2 days later):
Thank you for contacting the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Support Team regarding your request to change the email address associated with your claim.
In order to change the email address, please send the following information to [email protected]
    Your Claim reference number
    Original email address
    Revised email address

Same email, just different parts highlighted.
Apparently, email correspondence does not work since it thinks I want to change my email address. I'll have to call Apple Care directly to find out what is going on.

  • How to redeem a free upgrade for OS X Lion

I just buy a new macbook pro on 10 July, how can i redeem the free upgrade for OS X Lion?
As many people say, can redeem through Itunes, but when i click in the redeem at the Quick Link, it want me to enter my gift card or other iTunes Code.
What should i do with the code? Where can i get the code?

I just purchase MacBookPro 2011 Version (MC700). May I know how can I claim free upgrade for OS X Lion?
I note that you marked correct a response that seems to assume you just bought the machine and are interested in a free Mountain Lion update, but you state your machine is a 2011 model.  I'm not sure whether that was a typo or there was a miscommunication, but it's important to understand that the Lion Up-to-Date program ended a while ago.  If you are hoping to update to Lion for free, you've missed the boat on that one, and you definitely won't qualify for the Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program.  If you want Lion, you'll need to buy it.  If you wait a month, though, you can get Mountain Lion instead for $10 cheaper (Mountain Lion will only be $20, Lion is $30), and you can upgrade straight from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

I'm sorry, but you are late. Apple isn't offering more codes to upgrade to Mountain Lion for free, so if you want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, open the App Store and purchase it

  • I recently purchased a copy of Lion, will I be eligible for a free upgrade of Mountain Lion?

I recently purchased a copy of Lion, will I be eligible for a free upgrade of Mountain Lion?

    no, sorry.
However, Lion has some great features in and of itself!
you will have to purchase it for 20 dollars in the app store (USA price) to upgrade to ML, the redemption codes that you may be reacting to are for people who recently purchased a computer and were told that they would be able to receive a free download of ML when it is released to make sure their computers are up to date.
This allows apple to release the hardware before the latest software, but still offer the latest software for free, because they're cool like that .
    I hope this helps
