Is imac 20" fully upgraded compatible with high-def speakers?

god this must have been my 5th time posting the exact same thing. my dell takes forever to load this page!
im getting an imac 20" fully upgraded and i was wundering if its high-def compatible.. or does the sound that comes out of the imac good? or is it bad. and i need to know some tips and tricks on working an imac, to understand it a bit more, because if i do stuff like that i can connect to other apps probably, i dont know im not psychic

The iMac can display hi-def video, and can handle 96kHz audio @ 24-bit, and has an optical-out capable of outputting 5.1 surround (in fact, I think it might even be capable of outputting 7.1, but don't quote me). I believe it uses the Intel High Definition Audio chipset.
The internal speakers are the best internal speakers I've heard; they're surprisingly good for their small size and would certainly do for watching movies, etc. If you want something beefier, it's a snap to connect it up to an external amplifier (I have mine connected up to some Tannoy speakers).
As for your other questions, you might not be psychic, but we definitely aren't, so you'll have to be a bit more specific I'm afraid.

  • Intel 82566 DM GbE compatible with High Performance Driver?

    Hello,
    Let me explain:
    I have IM Q35 motherboard that comes with 1x Intel 82566DM 10/100/1000 NIC and 1x Intel 82573L 10/100/1000 NIC.
I need to get those 2 NICs working with the High Performance Driver from NI because of my network settings (I need the firewall enabled).
I managed to get the Intel 82573L to work, but not the 82566DM. Is 82566DM compatible with the High Performance Driver?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
The 82566DM is not compatible - you'd have to use the standard Intel driver.
Howwver, recent versions of IMAQdx include an attribute under the Advanced Ethernet settings called Firewall Traversal that use a new feature in the GigE Vision spec to allow the image traffic to traverse most stateful firewalls properly. Support is needed on the camera too, but most cameras these days support it.

  • Outlook 2011 on my iMac crashing after upgrading iPad with iCloud and syncing

Plugged in my iPad to iMac.  It asked to upgrade iPad to 5.0.1.  Install seemed to go fine. I then synced calendars and contacts thru iTunes.  When I later restarted iMac (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) Outlook 2011 crashed as soon as messages window opened.  Other Office products-Word and Excel still work fine.
I Time Machined my Database-same crash.  Time machined the entire Outlook application-same crash.
Reinstalled Outlook application from my original Office DVD.  Now get a "Microsoft Office cannot be opened because of a problem" error message with no attempt to open program.
    Any suggestions out there?

It isn't possible unless your Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) or higher.  Also, you cannot sync iCloud contacts and calendars with Outlook 2011 for Mac, it that's what you have.  It will only sync these with the built-in OS X contacts and calendars apps.  (It will sync contacts and calendars with Outlook 2007 or higher for Windows.)

  • Where can I find a cheap RAM upgrade compatible with an early 2008 macbook 2.1ghz so I can run lion?

Question says it all really. Looked on amazon at a few but am not sure if they will be compatible or not. Just looking for something cheap but which will get me up to date with lion as it requires at least 2Gb and I'm currently only running the standard 2x 512Mb that it came with. Thanks.

    The model 4,1 (Early 2008) can use 6gb of 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM

Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • How to download 3.6 version of Firefox to my Mac which is not compatible with higher version.

I have Firefox 2.0.0.12 on my Mac OS X Version 10.5.8. I do not
have an Intel processor so I cannot download Firefox 7. What can
I download for e.g 3.0. How do I do that on the web-site?
    Thank you, Harris Clemes

    See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-10-4-or-powerpc
Since you have a Intel Mac, if you can upgrade to OSX 10.5.x then you may be able to use more current releases.
jscher2000, You should link to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html for 3.6.28 since the ftp is not mirrored.

  • MIDP2 not fully backward compatible with MIDP 1 ?

I have been playing with the Stock MIDlet the comes with WTK (It is a part of the example MIDlet suite )!
It works perfect on MIDP1 phones but not with MIDP2 phones.
I took it out of the MIDlet suite and stripped away the rest of MIDlets and went through the code and could not see anything wrong!
Are there any problems between MIDP 1 an it MIDP2
The program is passing a stock Symbol through to Yahoo Finance web page and getting the stock data back! It is using HTTP obviously! This is working perfect on a MIDP1 phone and works in the Emulators!
Has anybody an idea of what the problem could be?
There is an IOException being generated? When the program is run on MIDP2 Handsets!
Really really stuck on this one!
    Thanks
    Brian

I don't think if it is a backward compatibility issue but a device specific problem.

  • New Keyboard Not Compatible With All USB Flash Drives

    Hi,
I've noticed that the new super-thin iMac keyboards are not compatible with all USB Flash Drives. Here's an example.
I have 2 USB Flash Drives. One is a ByteStor 2GB USB 2.0 High Speed Dataferry Flash Drive, the other is a Kingston DataTraveler 1GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. Neither of these drives used to work with the previous design of iMac keyboard, giving me the "low power" warning.
However, the ByteStor works just fine with the new super-thin iMac keyboard, but oddly enough, the Kingston DataTraveler doesn't. Does anyone know why this is? What's the difference? When buying a new USB Flash Drive, how do you know if it's compatible with the new iMac keyboard or not?

Thanks. Yeah the Kingston DataTraveler works just fine if I plug it into one of the USB 2.0 ports on the back of the iMac. But if I plug it into the new thin Apple Keyboard, it gives the low power warning.

Anyway, I'll try that new keyboard software update and report back.

  • Is FCX HD compatible with Snow Leopard?

Just upgraded to a new iMac and I have a need to use FCXHD for a project that iMovie won't handle (syncing multiple video tracks). I haven't been using FCXHD for awhile now I need to install on the new iMac. Is it compatible with snow leopard? I ready to buy the upgrade but wouldn't mind saving $99. Plus, when I originally purchased FCXHD they released FCX4 the following week...sigh. LOL
    Thanks,
    Bob

Only the current version is supported on Snow Leopard.

Thanks, I was thinking so. I installed my CS4 from a CD in 2008, and it looks like Adobe has taken another approach to selling their products. I'll be downloading CC Photoshop a little later today.
