Hi,
Does anybody know of a document showing how we increase the number of jvm's for the oacore in EBS 12.1 ? I found some google searches detailing changing the opmn.xml file but I would like to see a document detailing which references need to changed.
Also it is often stated that 1 jvm should configured for each cpu and best practice should be a 1 jvm should be configured for 2 cpu's. Does the type of processor effect this rule, is this as valid for a risc processor and a intel processor.

Increasing number of apps not in english

I am a long time user of apple products and iTunes / App Store etc.
Recently I have noticed an increasing number of apps appearing on UK App Store with titles and descriptions in foreign languages and character sets ( ie Chinese)
Naturally I cannot read these ... And what's worse they are cluttering up lists of apps I am looking at, and wasting my time when I open up others that seem ok on the app list, only to find chunks of textual description in say Chinese
Is anyone else getting frustrated by this increasing issue?
Please Apple, get a grip! On the UK sites please at least restrict to English character sets, and preferably perform checks to verify descriptions are in English. If this is not resolved then my visits to the AppStore will decline rapidly .

The uk is a multicultural nation speaking in many tongues which is all part of what makes us a great nation
In order to get on we have to communicate via ... Err. Language!
The common language that glues this nation together is English!
The rest if the world and it's languages are on the rise which is just 'evolution', understandable and fine
All I want is to see (or at least be able to filter down to ) apps for the uk written is something that I can understand ...in these busy times I don't want to waste time trawling irrelevant information!!
So.. This request/question is about simple workflow functionality, language and absolutely nothing to do with race whatsoever ever !!!!
Out of interest I work with a very large workforce of Indian professionals from all across India .... Guess what the common language used is ?..... Yup ... English!

I think you are using workflow policy programs to trigger emails using Email Manager component,if this is the case then it is not a recommended way to create another email manager component running in another siebel server,coz at same time both siebel servers will invoke the component to trigger mails ending you up in receiving two similar mails.

Hi Experts,
please can you help in the creation of manual creation of transport request for the customizing activity "Define Number Assignment for Goods Receipt/Issue Slips": settings for assigning goods receipt/issue slip numbers upon goods movements (MM) or deliveries (LE-SHP)?
Customizing for this functionality is composed by the following points:
1. functionality activation at plant level
2. number range group/interval code assignment
3. Groups and intervals creation
4. Plant / Storage Location / Movement type combination assignment to number range group.
Customizing request is automatically created for points 1, 2, 4, but NOT for point 3 where you have to create Groups, Intervas and assing each others.
You receive a message from SAP that you have to insert the relevant object manually into transport request.
Please can you tell me exactly what I have to put into transport request as object:
- Program ID (I think R3TR)
- Object Type
- Object name
and any other relevant information with all the details.

You need to create the transport request by selecting the required number & clicking on the trnsaport icon, then a prompt for transport request will be displayed, there you can create the request & move it to production.

Easy question - how to increase number of recent files in menu?

This is for CS5 if it matters.
I'm an infrequent Illustrator user (at best) but I have what I hope is an easy question: I want to increase number of recent files showing in the menu.
I can't find a preferece to set such as in PS and almost every other application on the face of the earth. I've tried to reset the preferences file (start Illustrator with ctrl-alt-shift held down) but I'm stuck at 4 files, which I assume is the anemic default option.
Is there an easy way to do this that Adobe has hidded somewhere? As expected, it can't be found in the help, I can't find it on the forums, or even on the net, but I do know it can be done because I can see other installs showing lots of files in the list.

This might be because of a new feature that you can turn off for each object, and alltogether. When you create a new document at the bottom, make sure 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' is unchecked. After you have created a new file, you can still go into the 'TRANSFORM' palette (SHIFT+8), use the little right top menu, and make sure 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' is unchecked. And if you want to get fancy with each object; you can select an object, and look at the 'TRANSFORM' palette at the bottom is a place to uncheck the 'Align to Pixel Grid' at your disposall.

Need advise on large file processing with good performance

I am working on a program in which I have to read millions of records from application server file.For this, I am reading 1 million records each time and uploading into the DB-table.
what is the best approach to process the millions of records.what I am currently doing is, I read 1 million records one by one , modify each and every record based on some conditions and store them in one internal table and update the DB table.
I am also thinking alternate approach is,read 1 million into one internal table and after that within the loop, modify each and every records for given condition and update the DB table.
which approach is the best one?
you can advise me any other alternate approches with good performance.

Thanks for your reply reply. I have tested both ways as I mentioned in my query but reading record by reocrd and update data packets takes less time than reading into iternal table,then modify and update the DB table.

The modifications are similar in all the lines.I get related data from other class/method,do some calculation and modify each each record.
Are there any performnace tricks to be followed when processing large amount of data.by the way I am reading certail amount of records say 400K and updating DB table using parallel processing.
Apart from this, any suggestions on this?

Solaris 8 and later versions should not need pt_cnt. Ptys should be dynamically allocated as needed. Can you describe the problem you are having?

In Solaris 8 and later you must make sure you have syseventd/devfsadmd running or the automatic pty node creation does not work.
In older releases this probably means that you changed "pt_cnt" but didn't reboot with the "-r" flag. To recover, run "drvconfig; devlinks".
So, you should make sure syseventd and devfsadmd are running.

I am facing problem in increasing number of data files associated with the DB. I have DB_FILES = 200 and want to set it to 300. DB was started with SPFILE.
Tell me how to increase this parameter. I dont want to stop DB also. I will be thankful if anyone guide me in both ways to stop DB and without stopping it.

Please don't take it as nit-picking.Just wanted to point an enhancement in 10g regarding recreating control file for increasing number of datafiles.I am sure you must be aware about it.

When you issue CREATE DATABASE or CREATE CONTROLFILE statements, the MAXDATAFILES parameter specifies an initial size of the datafile portion of the control file. However, if you attempt to add a new file whose number is greater than MAXDATAFILES, but less than or equal to DB_FILES, the control file will expand automatically so that the datafiles section can accommodate more files.
From 10g onwards,the requirement to recreate teh control file is lifted.
Please correct me if I interpreted the note in a wrong way.

Getting good performance from Amazon AWS EBS disks

Hi, I am new here, so please let me know if I should be posting somewhere else.
We are using the Amazon cloud and striped EBS disks for Oracle DB 11g. We have done many tests trying to get good performance from the disks but it is still lacking. I am looking for some Oracle best practices for how to best set up the disks in Amazon. Or if any of you have suggestions of good parameters.

Oracle talked much about cloud and they did very little, Oracle cloud computing is amateur for performance testing.
Oracle deployed one EBS AMI (Oracle Enterprise Database) to APAC (Asia Pacific region), later on they withdrew that AMI, any one used that AMI to build an infrastructure they couldn't re launch that AMI.
By now Oracle has no one single EBS AMI in Asia Pacific region!
As you can see from this forum, it's not monitored by Oracle cloud people, many times we tried to contact them for urgent AMI we needed they simply don't reply back.
You could find much documents, presentations and nice animations talking about Oracle cloud but oracle has nothing to do on Amazon cloud so far, so try to find alternatives.

I updated and now my serial number's no good. HELP!

I just ran Software Update and now my Pro Apps won't open without filling in the registration info. But it tells me my serial number is no good. How do I get them to work again?

It is quite possble that the "Final Cut Studio System ID" file has been corrupted, in which case you simply go to: Library/Application Support/Pro Apps and delete it. When you start one of the applications, enter the serial number again and you should be good.

Not in front of the system, but if i remember correctly one of these enhancements has a check on serial numbers,
1. User exit -> MBCF0002
2. BADi -> WORKORDER_GOODSMVT or MB_DOCUMENT_BADI
Check & revert if it meets your need.

I was created ten instances of report (as user administrator). They were run every hour on the same time, but only 5 instances have status running on the same time. When one is finish, the next one is going to run.
I don't know where can I increase value concurrent running task.

With Webi, Webi Job server does "administrative" tasks of scheduling webi reports, they are actualy run by Webi report server.
So be carefull in increasing this value without increasing number of webi report servers !!
There should be XIR2 sizing guide in articles section of this site - review it.
