Is InDesign cc compatible with Arabic AXT fonts?

I have previously laid out a book on InDesign CS5 using an arabic AXT font and my client came back to me with a few changes in the text. I have recently downloaded CC and when i open the file the type is highlighted in pink and the error mentions it's a glyph issue. Any suggestions?? The font is installed correctly and works fine in illustrator.

Edit>Preferences>Advanced Type>Missing Glyph Protection, turn of both protection while typing and protection when applying fonts.
Hope it may help.

  • InDesign CS6 failed to associate roman fonts with Arabic AXT fonts

Hi, I have notice from a while there's a problem when i try to type a roman font inside ME version right to left- there's no font but substitued square fonts- and this problem related to AXT fonts only. When i type with Adobe Arabic font or Winsoft Serif Pro font, every thing is OK. On the other hand on InDesign CS5 ME there's no problem like this.

    this wil solve your problem

  • InDesign not compatible with retina display

I was just told by an Adobe rep on chat that NO versions of InDesign are compatible with retina display. How are people dealing with this?

Thank you for the reply. I talked to 3 support reps who had to keep transferring me to get an answer. The final answer being "I am not on the development team so I only have this commitment for you." I think he meant "comment." This is so frustrating. My next question was if I could purchase InDesign CC separate, like not the whole CC package, but just the one program. I could not get an answer for this either. Does anyone know? Thanks again.

  • Is Indesign CS4 compatible with Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2?

We are a small business and have been working in the CS2 suite forever.  We had someone do some work for us in Indesign CS4 and are looking to upgrade to that version so we can work with these files as changes happen.  If we upgrade to Indesign CS4 will it still be compatible with the rest of my CS2 programs (Illustrator and Photoshop).  Placing files and such. Thanks in advance, I know I am way behind here but it is what is cost effective for now.

Adobe only sells InDesign CC (by subscription) or InDesign CS6. You might find boxed legal copies of CS5 or 5.5 from a vendor like Amazon.
You should be very wary of buying older Adobe software on the Internet or eBay. Many copies don't have a legal license and may cause you problems in the future. Caveat emptor.

  • Pdf/x-4 2010 pdf preset made via Indesign not compatible with Illustrator?

    Hello all
I am working with a digital printing company and want to create a pdf preset that they can distribute to their customers to help make sure pdfs are properly made for their workflow. We've tested pdf/x-4 on their equipment and want to make that standard the base for their preset.
I made a preset in IndesignCC which shows up and is accessible in InDesignCC and PhotoshopCC, but is not accessible in IllustratorCC. It does not show up in the presets list in the "save as... pdf" dialogue. It does show up in the Edit>Adobe PDF Presets function though.
When I attempt to load the .joboptions file into Illustrator via that Adobe PDF Presets function I get the error "The preset is not recognized as a valid .joboptions file."
I noticed that IllustratorCC is using the pdf/x-4 (2008) standard, while InDesignCC is using the pdf/x-4 (2010).
Is IllustratorCC not yet compatible with the 2010 standard? If not, this is a serious wrench in the pdf preset workflow that allows the applications to share .joboptions files amongt themselves.
Any thoughts or help solving the problem of sharing that InDesign Generated preset with Illustrator would be much appreciated.

Hi jdanek, thanks for replying. PDF/x-4 supports transparency natively, supports multiple color spaces (this allows the vendor's rips to handle color conversion), and is an excellent option for their PDF print engine workflow. They want a custom variety that sets the resolution, bleed, etc. to give to their customers.
I did resolve the issue by making a new preset in Illustrator. That one is also available in InDesign and Photoshop but still, I'm curious as to why the InDesign-made preset is not compatible with Illustrator.

  • Identify device fonts compatible with Arabic text

    Hi,
Is there anyway to workout what device fonts are available that can render arabic text? I was hoping there would be something like similar to when you specify a font family list and default to _sans but I can't find anything? Does anybody have any solution or alternative method to solve this?
    Cheers

There's no programmatic way to do this in ActionScript, and its a bit tricky -- you need to find out which fonts have the correct glyphs and OpenType tables. But, I will say that in the new 10.1 Player (available as public beta), it is much better about fallback, so that if the font you specify doesn't have the correct glyphs, it will look for another font that does and use that instead. So if you were putting up a font menu, it would include all the fonts, but if the user picks one that doesn't work for that script, the text will still appear correctly, just in a different font. I think its a good question though. It would be nice if you could specify a locale, and get back a list of fonts.

  • Acrobat XI Pro Form under Windows 7 does not display Arabic with Arabic Typesetting font

After creating a form with right-to-left enabled, and the font of the field set to Arabic Typesetting, I can fill in the form correctly, but when I exit the field the blue editng field returns, and the text is not displayed.
What can I do to correct this?

Gilad:  You're right: when the fields are different, such as a checkbox and a text field, and you try to title them the same, Acrobat gives you a message. I received no messages, the field names are not the same or I missed one and Acrobat is no longer messaging about it.
My question is different. Acrobat XI will not let me paste any field copied from a different PDF.  I've been doing that for 5 years in three different versions.  Maybe Acrobat XI has a new process for that, which I could not find in Acrobat help. Maybe it's because all forms now have extended rights automatically in Acrobat XI and there is another method to copy common fields to other PDFs.
Any thoughts about the new Acrobat XI? It's different in many good ways, but different.
    Thanks for your ideas.

  • InDesign 4 compatible with Mavericks?

I just updated my computer with Mavericks. I am using CS 4 and every time I try to print an InDesign file since the upgrade it shuts down the program. I have no problems printing from Word, Excel, PhotoShop, etc. It only havppens with InDesign. Anyone else have this problem, or any suggestions for a solution?

Did you do an inplace upgrade of your old OS to Mavericks? If so you will probably find it to your advantage to uninstall the CS4 apps, run the Cleaner tool (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html) and reinstall. Adobe apps re not happy with migration.

  • Adobe Indesign CC English (with Arabic support)

    Hello,
I am having trouble with the CC version. When I was using the middle eastern version CS5 from Winsoft, I was able to change all the arabic at once (into bold for instance), without changing the latin text. Is there a way to do that in the CC version?
    Thanks a lot

You can do this with find/change pretty easily. Set the Find format attributes to Language: Arabic under the Advanced Character Format tab, assuming you've actually assigned Arabic language to your arabic text. If not, I think you can do it by specifying a unicode range, but I can't tell you the correct range to use.

  • Re: Is InDesign CS5 Compatible With Latest Apple OS?

I am currently licensed to use my copy of InDesign CS5 on my iMac and my MacBook. I'm thinking about replacing my MacBook with a new laptop from Apple to take advantage of our state's tax holiday this coming weekend. I would, of course, want to migrate InDesign from my old laptop to my new one. My current MacBook is over three years old and runs on OS 10.6.8. My question is, if I buy a new Apple laptop with the very latest operating software, would InDesign CS5 still work with such an advanced OS? Is there any danger of me losing access to the files I've already created? Would I have to upgrade InDesign to CS6? Does Adobe even offer upgrades now that they have introduced the Creative Cloud? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Bob. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. It was very helpful.
Actually, if I purchase a new laptop, I was planning on installing InDesign using the original media. I just meant that, since I am only licensed to use InDesign on two devices at a time, I would need to discontinue its use on my old laptop in order to be able to use it on my new one. (I plan on continuing on using InDesign on my desktop for the time being.) But this leads me to another question: Wouid I have to discontinue InDesign on my old laptop BEFORE installing it on my new laptop? If so, what would I do if it turns out that InDesign CS5 doesn't work on the latest Mac OS? I could switch to a Creative Cloud subscription as you suggest -- but I was hoping not to have to spend any more money. If I did have to switch to the Cloud, would I still be able to access and work on the files I created in CS5?
Thanks again for all your help.

  • Is InDesign CS4 compatible with Office for Mac 2011?

Having trouble importing copy from 2011 Word docs to InDesign. Very small business cant justify updating from ID CS4. Just updated to Office for Mac 2011, however, and am now having trouble placing text into InDesign. Should I remove 2011 and go back to 2008?

As someone who never Places Office-formatted text in InDesign, I've also never considered issues of "compatibility" between any versions of the two application suites. Is the Office formatting critical? Unless you have some elaborate style-mapping import scheme in play, why not just save the Office document as text and Place that?
