Is iOS 6.0.1 recommended for iPhone 4S?

Some of my friends installed iOS 6.0.1 and they had their contacts erased, the map is not working properly, and so on..... Is it safe to install it on iPhone 4S or not?????????

Most never have an issue at all with any updates.
ios 6.0.1 is indeed designed for iphone 4s.
I have had no issues nor has anyone I know.
As always, everything should be on your computer. How did your friends lose contacts? They should have been syncing to their computers regularly.

One of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision.

You don't need it for an iPhone, assuming that you have not made any unauthorised changes to the OS, such as jailbreaking.

No, it will not. It must be the version specifically for the iPod Touch. On top of that you must have a 3G or 4G iPod Touch in order to even install iOS 5 onto it.

It totally depends. The servers are getting slammed. Bunch of people trying to download at the same time.
Anecdotally, it took me about 20 minutes.
Give it time, keep trying, should eventually work.
Ways you can maybe speed it up - use iTunes, get off wifi and do a hard connection via ethernet.

You can Google a term such as "essential iPhone apps" or "must-have iPhone apps" and you will get lots of results. People vary as far as which apps they like the best. I also check out the App Store on a regular basis to see what the Top 100 apps are. If a lot of people are downloading an app, it makes me curious about it, and I'm more likely to check it out.

if you mean ipod adapter then a pin30 to new adaptor should work
otherwise anything can be connected to the minijack connector and would play analog audio

IOS 6.1.4 released for iPhone 5 Adds an Updated Audio Profile for Speakerphone

Apple has just released an Over the Air update for the iPhone 5. It seems to only provide an updated audio profile for the speaker phone. Nothing else listed in the change log.
I would assume that there will be an iTunes downloadable update available shortly.

The iphone 4's last update to IOS 6.1.3 in some cases caused the phones speakers to not work (in which this happened to mine and a few people I know) which some people got rid of their phones. HENCE the AUDIO UPDATE that they recently posted but only iPhone 5 can download the update. That is my problem. I have alot of apple products diesel vdub and have had apple for a long time but I can't seem to understand why they would do this and I posted this in hopes to find more people that have had this issue and if they did anything to help fix it this issue. Thank you for your concern though.

Is IOS 6.1.3 better for iPhone 4 or should I wait for IOS 6.1.4?

I was hesitating to update this because my phone is still on recovery mode. I accidentally updated it without using iTunes, what I did is that i turned off my WiFi to stop installing the new IOS but then as i open my WiFi, the new IOS started to load again then my phone turned to an apple logo with the loading thingy. So i turn off my phone then whenever I open my phone it pops up an apple logo and it keeps on blinking so I connected it to iTunes then it says that I need to restore and update my iPhone. So now I don't know what to decide, i'm too scared of hearing those issues about IOS 6.1.3 like not connecting to home WiFi, can't open mail, draining of battery, etc. So help me please. My previous IOS is 5.1.1, thank you!

IOS 6.1.4 is not for the iPhone 4 but only for the iPhone 5 so if you have iOS 6.1.3 then that is the latest iOS for your iPhone 4

Ios 5 possible firmware bug for iPhone 4; Voice command/text-to-speech doesn't work properly.

I upgraded an AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 to the ios 5 firmware, and I am having the same exact issues for both phones. When using the voice command a few times, the audio voice does not come through the "speaker" (referring to the speaker located at the bottom of the phone). Instead, the audio voice goes through the receiver which is on the front face of the phone, on the right of the camera.
For example, say you want to use the voice command to dial a phone number. You would enable voice command by depressing and holding down the "Home" button and give the command "dial...1-800-452-3456", the phone would then repeat the phone number back to you through the "speaker". However, when I did this a few times, the voice instantly goes to the receiver instead. I found no way to fix this problem. I tried the following and none of these solutions worked:
Turned the phone off and back on again
Hard reset (held down the Home and Lock button for 10 seconds)
Restored the phone, and set the phone up as a "new iPhone" instead of restoring from back up
After trying to restore both iPhones and still have the same issue, I made an appointment to visit Apple. I took the Verizon iPhone 4 to Apple, and the employees handed over a refurbished iphone in hopes to solve this issue. However, this refurbished phone still had the same exact issue.

Of course I checked my apps library and found nothing. However I'm looking at the status while sync is processing, I'm 100% sure that app is not synced to my iTunes library
Yep, I can always manually "transfer purchases" to my iTunes library. But this is not the point. On my old iPhone 4 and new iPad (3rd gen), it will sync all newly installed apps from my iOS devices to my iTunes library, no need to click "Transfer Purchases" again.

Speaker Recommendations For iPhone 4

I am sure this question has been asked countless times but I still would love some input. I want to get a speaker set for my iPhone 4 and iPod Touch and this would be my primary music system. My budget is around 400-500USD and since I am in India, I may have to order it from abroad hence may not even able to test it. I had an Altec Lansing IM7 and now seeking to replace it though it was a great buy and worked outside as well.
I am really liking the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini but have not tested it in person and another option is the older generation of Bose. But at the same time I wonder if I should wait for an Airplay Speaker like the Zeppelin Air (though its way out of my budget 800USD).
Audio quality is the most important to me but at the same time it shouldn't be humengous. So any inputs would be really appreciated and recommendations on Airplay speakers would help too.
I don't know if this helps but I listen to a lot of piano rock, rock, acoustic performances and ambient music and sometimes movie scores.

You would be very happy with the sound on the Zeppelin Mini based on the type of music you listen to. Your only question is do you want to wait until there are more AirPlay devices on the market.
