Is iPad 3G infrastructure different than other 3Gs?
Hi,
Mobile service providers offer cheaper 3G packets with 3G mobile usb modems in Turkey as campaigns.
I called their customer service and asked "may i get the sim out from usb 3G modem, crop it to make micro sim with scissors and use it on the iPad 1?" and the support staff replied "you can do it but if you do your data transfer will use different infrastructure than the modem and you'll be charged out of the packet.". Packet limit is 1Gb/mo.
Is that answer valid? I mean they'd do anything to get our money, especially in Turkey. I suspect they try to trick me.
Is there any difference with ipad 3g infrastructure and 3g usb modems?
yes the ipad2 verison model is cdma which is a different tech then gsm and don't use sims
and is not widely supported around the world

Safari shows colors different than other browsers and GoLive
Does anyone know why Safari shows colors differently than Firefox, Explorer and Opera, Mozilla and Golive?
For example if I use "websafe" colors in photoshop with 2.2 gamma and sRGBie...2.1 and save, then import into Go Live with the working space the same, North America Web/ Internet, the colors are typically darker, although occasionally they are the same.
I have tried embedded profiles and non embeded.
The difference only happens when I view the page in Safari. By the way I use a mac, GoLive CS2
This is a constant frustration. I have created several tests but have found no satisfactory results. I am in the process of creating a website for teachers who use powerbooks and safari. And this color change really restricts creative possibilities. If the same page is viewed in Firefox it looks like it does in GoLive.

True on Windows Safari and other Windows browsers.
Safari on Mac and other Mac browsers 'assumes, assigns, applies' the Mac's default monitor profile to untagged color.
This is easy to proof here in the sRGB rollover:

If Mac Safari 'assumed' sRGB on untagged files, then the sRGB rollover will have zero change.

Except in Mac browsers that have 1.8 monitor gamma profiled.
The Mac-specific problem with trying to match tagged graphics on matched-color background in Safari is:
1) The color background is untagged and will Assume default Monior RGB.
2) The tagged graphic will be Converted to Monitor RGB.
In other words, if you fill a page with 4bb93c and place a tagged sRGB image, filled with 4bb93c, the two colors won't match up in color-managed Mac web browsers like Mac Safari...however, if you untag the sRGB file, it will disappear on the page, but it will be off color depending how close Monitor RGB is to sRGB profile in Mac browsers.
Windows, on the other hand is a different beast, it Assigns sRGB to untagged color, so tagged/untagged sRGB will be good in all Windows browsers.
At least that is what I have seen here on my Windows Vista Business box. -
EMac won't Boot - different than other problems....
I recently salvaged an eMac G4 700mhz.
Upon powering it up it sticks on the initial load screen (gray screen with just a spinning circle)
I did a little research on these boards and decided to try a few things people mentioned.
One - startup from OSX disk (hold c with disk in drive on startup)
I tried this, when I do a screen comes up that says:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E0FF4) : Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac4,4"
The last line reads:
panic: We are hanging here...
At this point the computer will do nothing further and I have to do a hard shut down via the power button.
two - reseting the PMU
I did this, but I am a little concerned that I hit the button to many times (i don't know if there is some weird limit - like only hit it once and couldn't find anything that would validate or erase my concerns)
After resetting the PMU there was no change in the process and a power button hard shutdown was needed.
three - resetting the pram and nvram
I did both - first the pram
PRAM
Computer would make start up ding and then restart - no change in status once startup proceeded.
NVRAM/open firmware menu
0 > reset-nvram
Press Return
0 > reset-all
Press Return
Using the Open firmware menu. Computer would still not start up.
In all circumstances in order to power down I had to do a power button shut down.
So that is where I am now. When in the open firmware menu the system date says 1970 something...
I know how it got in this predicament. Multiple power failures from a inexperienced user shutting down their computer by turning off it's power strip.
Is there any hope I can save this thing, should I even try and what can I try next?
Thanks for the help!!eMac - Do-It-Yourself has instructions on replacing the PRAM battery. It's pretty straightforward, certainly way better than a first-generation iMac. (Unless the 700 MHz eMac in question is one made when the factory was unknowingly going through a batch of substandard RAM access door screws, of all things; the metal was much too soft, and the screw heads would strip upon trying to unscrew it. Using a #2 Philips head that tightly fits the screw and apply steady pressure along the screwdriver shaft should avoid that problem even with a bad screw in place.)
The grey screen suggests the System is corrupted or the hard drive directory damaged, or both. You might be able to repair the drive in single-user mode using the Unix file system check utility fsck as described in Using Disk Utility and fsck.
The kernel panic reporting no driver found suggests the OS X boot disc you tried was for a model-specific Mac other than the 700 MHz eMac; you'll need to find an nVidia graphics model eMac OS X Install disc, or a retail (black label) OS X install disc (any version from 10.2 through 10.4 should work with the 700 MHz eMac). -
IMessage Issues (Different Than Others)
Okay so I know people are having a plethora of problems with iMessage, but here's one that I haven't seen others come across. My girlfriend and I both have iPhone 4s with iOS 5 installed. Usually, iMessage works fine. Sometimes however, I'll send an iMessage to her, and the little "delivered" text doesn't appear, instead after about 5-10 seconds it changes to green and says sent as text message.I don't get anything saying "DID NOT SEND" or anything. The problem is, that it most definitely wasn't sent, as my girlfriend's phone doesn't receive it. The phone stays in "text message" mode until she sends me something, and then my phone realizes it should be in iMessage and goes back to working fine. Until she sends me something however, it stays in text, and is not actually sending out the texts it says it is. Anyone have ANY idea?
What I did was go into, Settings>Messages, then turn off the option that says "Send as SMS". This prevents the message from being sent as a regular text message, when maybe connection is bad and iMessage isn't available or any other reason it's not available. Even after doing this, when I send a message through iMessage, it doesnt say "delivered" right away sometimes, this can be maybe because the person receiving it has bad signal or iMessage to them isnt available (just a guess). But turning of "Send as SMS" removes the worry of it being sent as a text. So the message stays with in the iMessage system and when the recieving person hasnt gotten your reply for a while and they wonder why and check the conversation with you in their phone, the message you sent that wasnt delivered right away, gets to them then.

Ipod Touch Recognition Problems...***Different Than Others***
I have seen a bunch of other posts similar to the problem i have but i wanted to post one specifically with my problem.
Ok, when i plug my ipod in it starts to charge like it should and itunes opens up, like it should...But my ipod doesn't show up in itunes and it doesn't show up in My Computer. If anyone can help me with my situation it would be much appreciated. I just want my baby back!I had the same problem with my iPhone with iTunes 7 and I solved it up by installing iTunes 8.

WiFi connection problems (different than others)

I got an iPod touch 32GB 4 days ago and I have really big problems with WiFi. I cannot connect to any wifi i've tried. Even setting my own wifi unprotected and unfiltered, it still doesn't work. I've also tried at wifi connection at work. Yesterday a mate who has an iPod touch 8Gb and me tried to connect to our wifi at work, and he COULD connect to, but not me!!. Having one each iPod near to other, doing exactly the same steps. No way.
These are the symptoms: I enter the password and it's accepted (if I enter wrong password, or filtered by MAC, I get a response telling that it's not possible to connect; but if I put the right password, it 'connects', tried WEP 40bits using Key1 and WPA PSK). The blue tick appears near to SSID, but there's no blue icon on the upper left of screen (near to 'iPod'). If I enter on configuration of the 'connected' network, I see that I have selected DCHP, but got no IP, no netmask, no router, no anything. So, if I try to set an Static IP, when I exit Settings pannel and enter again, the blue tick is still there, but the settings is set to DHCP again!!.If I sleep/wake iPod, then it appears disconnected.
I'm really getting crazy!. The most incredible thing is that with an iPod 8GB it works and mine's which is an 32GB model and started to sell later, doesn't not work!.
At home I have a Linksys WRT54GL using firmware OpenWRT 0.9. And at work it's one from Telefonica.
Is maybe some kind of known bug that will be fixed on next update? (I really really beg for...). I read somewhere something about a wifi bug in 32GB edition of iPod Touch.... is that true?
Is there something I could try? Any ideas?

I tried the 'Forget this network' several times, but it has no effect. The iPods doesn't get any IP from the router. I can't set an Static configuration anyway, it simply doesn't work. The Static configuration is erased when I leave Settings panel.
In the router's log is not registered any DCHP query at all. I use MAC filtering, but I tried disabling it, no way. If I remove the iPod's MAC, I get an error while trying to connect. When I add the MAC to the list again, it 'connects' the same way I explained before. The same happens with security, bad password: error, good password: 'connects' but no IP no WiFi icon in iPod screen at top, just the blue tick near to the network name...
At home I have two laptop, one PDA and some other wireless gadgets (from friends, etc) that I configured myself in the router and never had a single problem. But with the iPod I couldn't do anything :'(

Yosemite upgrade causes Win7 Bootcamp to BSOD (slightly different than others)
Like others I no longer have a working Win7 Bootcamp partition. Unlike others I still see Windows 7 when I hold ALT booting up the machine. It starts to load windows then I get blue screen of death (unmountable boot volume) and reboots. I can get to the Win7 repair but when it looks for a Windows installation to repair it does not see any.
I can also still see files in that partition in Finder, I'm just really hoping I can get back into the system since I have so many important things installed. I've seen Loner T helping many people and read lots of posts, but I just figured I'd throw my hat in and hope there's a fix for me.

ITunes window behaves different from others?
I've always been wondering why the iTunes window behaves much differently than other windows. Taking Firefox for example, when I maximize it to the screen, I can't shift it left/right/up/down, so I can't accidentally move it. iTunes, however, doesn't have the same maximize options, changing from the 'big' mode to the 'mini' player. And when it's in the big mode, I constantly have to re-stretch and proportion it to my screen, and it frequently drops below the dock and outside the screen. Is there any way to get this changed or fixed? Thanks!

My iPad has a different Apple ID than the Apple ID on my computer. The iPad Apple ID has an email address that I no longer use. If (while on the iPad) I go to My Apple ID and try to change or add the email address that I now use (and which already is my Apple ID on the computer), it won't allow me to add it. It says : "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" I haven't really been aware of this as a problem until I tried (for the first time) to sync my iPad to the computer and became aware that certain things wouldn't transfer. What is the solution to this?

This post was about having updated the primary email address on an iTunes account via a computer - if you do that you might need to log out of the account on an iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version of the account for that email address change to be recognised on your iPad. If you don't log out and back in then an iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) might continue to show the old version of the iTunes account id. -

I'm new to iPad. I went to check out iTunes app on iPad, and it is so limited what you can do. Very different than regular PC. Is there something I am missing?
It depends on what you want to see/manage - you can tap on your id at at the bottom of, for example, the Music tab in the iTunes app (or via Settings > iTunes & App Stores) and you can view/manage your id, address and payment info.

iPad 1 is a lot newer than iPhone 3GS. It has the A4 chip! Why no IOS 6 for the 1st gen. iPad?
quite surprised it suggests that iPhone 3gs s more powerful than the iPad1? iphone 3gs is supported. something is fishy. i don't want to fall out of love with apple products. looks like it's a business decision to cut support for iPad 1 - not technical shortcoming. if apple cut support for 3gs they will upset customers who just bought 3gs before iphone 5 was launched.... tsk tsk tsk.. i'm not from US. hope to see a class action suit by US peeps to resolve this...

This allows developers to produce one software product instead of several and reduces development time and costs. Are you talking about in Messages? I believe that the iPad will pick up the phone number of an iPhone on the same Apple ID through the iMessage/iCloud servers.
