Is iPaq 5550 supported?
We are just in a testing phase with the following environment:
- ZfH 5.1
- Windows NT 4.0 Desktop with serial cradle
- ActiveSync 3.7
- iPaq 5550
After installing the ZfHProxy on the Desktop and connecting the PDA, a
message appears on the PDA saying something like "ZfH Client installation
unsuccessfull". After disconnecting an reconnecting the PDA I get the
message "ZfHClient already installed...".
Is this environment supported or are there some known issues with this PDA?
Olaf Brandt
Something I just found out:
there seems to be a localized (german) version ZfH 5.1.250.
I only have 5.1.162 english.
Can someone post the link where to download the newer version?
Many thanks
Olaf Brandt

USE of CF 6004 with HP IPAQ 5550
Hello
Could someone tell whether we could use CF-6004 with HP IPAQ 5550 PDA? as it looks that the size of the card is a bit larger to fit in the memory card slot.
thanks
SamHi Sam,
Natively you can not use the CF-6004 with the HP IPAQ 5500, as the IPAQ does not have a Compact Flash (CF) slot. However for the IPAQ 5500 you can buy a CF sleeve, I have seen some on eBay, but you should be able to get a HP IPAQ CF Sleeve from a more reputable location.
I hope this answers your question

802.11 Ethernet wireless Lan card on ipaq
does ipaq 3630 support 802.11 wireless lan? if is does,
how can i implement? can i just use normal socket class or
i have to use special class?
Thanks a lot
joeyYep it does. I have a 3630, and have a orinocco silver 802.11b pcmcia wireless card, which works fine (drivers can be obtained from orinocco's web site). And the usual java Sockets work fine.

Simple bluetooth example labview pda
hi, im trying to use the simple bluetooth examples on the pda, i can compile and run the client on the pda no problems but when i try running the server on the computer it just stops straight off, i thought it was the timeout but thats still at 3000 and i havent changed anything on it.
i running xp pro sp2, broadcom 2045 adapter and a ipaq 5550 with bluetooth
any help would be ace

andyHi Andy,
LabVIEW will only support devices that use Microsoft's Bluetooth Stack, and unfortunatly it appears yours does not. The following list of bluetooth devices are supported by Microsoft's bluetooth stack and therefore LabVIEW:
Belkin F8T012UK1 EDR Bluetooth USB Adapter
Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter - 10 Meters ( Belkin F8T003 ver. 2 don't seems to work )
Billionton GUBTCR41 - 100 m (Software included in the package not installed)
Conceptronic "Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter 200M" CBTU2A / CBT200U2A (Software in the package not installed)
Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module
D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth Adaptor
Encore USB Dongle (Microsoft Stack)
Exwell BD-U08 EDR Bluetooth USB Adapter
Exwell BD-U01 Bluetooth USB Adapter - 10 Meters
Kensington USB K33085 (Microsoft Stack)
GigaByte Bluetooth USB Adapter GN-BT05D (Software included in the package not installed)
Hama Bluetooth Dongle 00049207 (Software included in the package not installed). Inquiries seems to hang after a while ..
IBM Integrated Bluetooth II on ThinkPad T40 (with driver from Microsoft; file version: 5.1.2600.2180, xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
Trust BT 1300 TP Bluetooth USB adapter (Software included in the package not installed)
Trust BT 2200 TP Bluetooth USB adapter (Software included in the package not installed) (Microsoft Stack and Widcomm)
Perfect choice USB Adapter (Microsoft Stack and Widcomm)
Sorry I can't give you a more possive resolution but unless your device is compatible with the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack it won't work I'm afraid.

How to enable optional classes
Hello!
I wrote a program with JDK 1.1.8 which uses java.awt.MenuBar. It compiles fine but gives me an UnsupportedOperationException at MenuBar at execution. I learned from the documentation that the menu-components are optional in PersonalJava. My goal is to run the application on Jeode for iPaq which supports the menu-components. How can I notify my PersonalJava-emulator, that I whish to support this components?
Thanks!
RichardInteresting. I am getting my menu's using Sun's Personal Java JVM.
Try on iPAQ itself. -
6230i Bluetooth connectivity problems
Sorry for long posting...
I have recently purchased a 6230i to replace my 6310i.
I previously used a CA-42 USB cable for the 6310i but that is reported by the 6230i as incompatible - grrh.
And now I am trying to set up the Bluetooth connectivity.
I have (eventually) managed to get the 6230i paired to my Laptop using a Belkin USB Bluetooth and the Belkin software running on WinXP (IBM T41 laptop). PC Suite runs but seems to be a little unreliable over Bluetooth - will address that by sourcing a DKU-2 cable.
However, I have problems with pairing the 6230i with my Sony HBH-600 headset (works perfectly with 6310i) I can get the 6230i to discover the headset either by searching for audio enhancements or by setting up a new pair, however it always fails to set up the connection (never asks for passkey).
Similarly I cannot get my Ipaq 5550 to pair with the 6230i. I can start the pairing from the Ipaq which finds the 6230i but the 6230i never acknowledges the pairing attempt which then fails. If I start the pairing process from the 6230i it finds the Ipaq and attempts to pair but never asks to setup a passkey - the Ipaq does not seems to receive the pairing attempt.
I have set the auto connect option to yes and no with no difference.
Any suggestions ?
Needless to say all this worked perfectly with the 6310i.

ReutersFurther to original post
The Bluetooth connectivity all works between the IBM T41, Ipaq 5550, Sony HBH600 headset and a Nokia 6810 phone.
So the problem appears to be the Nokia 6230i phone.
Further research gives some rather disapointing information.
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2629
If you have problems performing pairing between an iPAQ 1940/2210 and the Nokia 6230 and continually get an error similar to "Cannot pair devices for security reasons" then it's related to the problem outlined in that document.
This is a Hardware issue and not a software issue related to the WIDCOMM BTW-CE Product. There are two types of keys that can be used for pairing:
- Combination keys
- Unit keys
The key type that is used is pre-set in the Bluetooth Radio Firmware. The WIDCOMM BTW-CE Bluetooth software
does not control this setting. The radio on the iPAQ 1940 uses unit keys by default. These Nokia phones reject the use of unit keys in pairing because it is not as secure as combination keys.
Users of older HP iPAQ models should check the HP Drivers page for the latest OS or Bluetooth software for their devices.
I note that my Ipaq is older than the two models mentioned and that my headset is 16 months old. So it looks as if the 6230i is going back - stupid no backwards compatibility.
thanks to Geekzone for the info.

PDA hang up at high serial transmit rate
I'm tring to make a PDA App that will communicate with a test box. I can send and receive information but when i try to stream data to the PDA at high rates 21 bytes @ 20 ms intervals the app hangs up. I'm not sure how to trouble shoot the app on the PDA so I don't know what part of the code is causing the problem.
I'm using an IPAQ 5550 with 128 MB of memory but only half is allocated for running apps.
My software is Labview 7.1.1 with Labview PDA Modual 7.1
If made some example VI's, one to simulate my test box and one to simulate my PDA app.
If any one can give me some suggestions on how I can accomplish my task I'd appreciate it.
If tried running the PDA Recieve from my laptop and it worked perfectly.
Thanks in advance
Eric

PC Transmit.vi 110 KB
PDA Receive.vi 46 KBThanks Chris for your reply
I think I have it narrowed down to a null character transmit. When ever I try to transmit a null (0x00) to the PDA at >= 50hz my app locks up. All other characters seem to transmit ok.
I'm using the default comm port on the PDA. The one it uses to sync to a computer. I would like to verify that I could work around this by using a PCMCIA Serial I/O Card. If someone with a PDA and a Serial Card could run my attached examples and let me know if any problems occur. If no problems occur I can could move on with my project development.
The setting on the PC are Baud 38400, Period (ms) = 20, Start Character = 255, End Character = 0.
Thanks in advance
Eric

Hello all,
I'm now using IBM J9 personalprofile for develop application.
I need to write a audio player first. I try to port JMF to the pocket pc.
I have read this post...
http://forums.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=238274&start=0&tstart=30
For me, I use JMF cross platform edition and use customerizer.exe from Windows version to generate custom.jar. However, I need to complie RegistryLib.java mannually because the program said cannot find it. I try to use J2SE SDK 1.4.2 and 1.1.8 to generate RegistryLib.class and place it under correct directory and re-run the customerizer using same setting as before.
Then import custom.jar in to IBM WebSphere Studio Device Developer and Run the application. The exception flows...
IOException in readRegistry: java.io.EOFException
Unable to handle format: msadpcm, 22050.0 Hz, 4-bit, Stereo, Unsigned, 22311.0 frame rate, FrameSize=8192 bits
Failed to realize: com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@287a287a
Error: Unable to realize com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@287a287a
When i port this program into PPC( I use iPAQ 5550) and run it with j9VM. The exception is noplayerexception
I am thinking the problem may be in compling RegistryLib.java.
It seems that someone has successfully port JMF on PPC. Does anyone has simliar experience? How can I solve it?hi,...regarding to your post you have suceeded to implement jmf cross platform. i've download it to my pc but i cant find any RegistriLib.java...where is it??
i have running this project for months... i really need your reply,..thanks -

Hi
Ive have connected the D (bluetooth) bracket on my K7N2 L based system.
Can anyone tell me if I need to fit an antenna or does the transeiver on the D-Bracket perform this function?
I'm about to get an iPaq 5550 and want to connect to my PC via bluetooth and share my broadband connection for internet access.
Any tips or advice on how to set this up would be very welcome.
Thanks
Rob :-)Hello Wonkanoby
Thanks for the lightening fast reply!
I just have a few questions...
I presume that I can use any BT module or is it best to stick with the MSI kit. Any recommendations?
I dont mean to state the obvious but I'm curious to know in what way the "dedicated" port differs from other USB ports.
Thanks
Rob

Is ASA 5550 firewall supports BGP
Hi All,
Please help me out regarding my question.
Thank you all in advance.
Regards,
SayakHello Sayak,
The ASA does not support BGP. Border Gateway Protocol. BGP performs interdomain routing in TCP/IP networks. BGP is an Exterior Gateway Protocol, which means that it performs routing between multiple autonomous systems or domains and exchanges routing and access information with other BGP systems.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/configuration/guide/glossary.htmlhttp://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa90/configuration/guide/glossary.html
ASA allows passing of BGP sessions through it but just only that. It’s being discussed that it will be supported in the future but there’s no definite date yet.
