Is iphone 6 AirPlay broken

I have never had a problem with any of my iPhones or iPads "regarding AirPlay at least" until now. This new iPhone 6 AirPlay is terrible, the way it has to see other devices before even giving you the option or button is nuts. Anyhow, I can't get AirPlay to work reliably at all in this iPhone 6. It's a nightmare. Of course I pull out any old iPhone 5 or 4 etc and it all works totally fine, same with my older iPad 4 retina just not the newest Apple device. Maybe older is built better?
AirPlay has worked fine for many years, why change it and break it?
Apple your need to fix this.

Well I first tried responding via my iPad , foolish me as my IOS products don't work on Apple forums most of the time so now I'm on my iPhone instead so I can atleast type this. Its always amazed me the lack of IOS friendlyness at the Apple forums.
Anyhow, are you saying you don't have an AirPlay button that only shows up when other AirPlay compatable devices are around because that's part of my issue and why Apple chose this new route in bad design for this latest IOS rather than an always present and predictable airplay button as before. its a dumb design decision. also many users are complaining about this issues on the net with and no real resolution. Most things I read say it's just a buggy new design in AirPlay.
glad yours works then likely we've all got $1000.00 partial paperweights that I can atleast replace.
Swipe up , look for AirPlay button to show up, now swip down , look for new clip to play, hit play clip, wait for problems ( or not) then do it all over again for next clip.
Old days was hit airplay look for clip and hit play. Way better.

If you don't have a backup then the only possible solution is to go back to the store and see if they can get your old phone and create a backup of that. I know very often that Apple employees will wipe the returned iPhones clean before shipping them back to wherever they ship them.
When you say your old phone was "broken" does this mean it is dead and won't turn on?
Do you have a Time Machine backup of your computer, or a clone that might have this info on it?
Other than that I hate to say you may be out of luck. Time Machine and/or a cloning program performed regularily will inevitably save your a** in situations like this.

As long as they are already ticked in your iTunes then yes. Just to check do a sync and as long as everything stays the same you are good to go.

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. Airplay broken if only connected display is VNC

Hello everyone,
I'd like to use my MACMINI (i5/2012) for Streamining the entire Screen to Apple TV via Airplay. For that reason I've updated the MACMINI to OS X Mountain Lion.
The MACMINI runs headless, what means, that that there is no physical display-device plugged. I am connected to the MACMINI from my MAC-BOOK Air via VNC.
What I get on the TV-Screen looks like that:
I've found another description of the same problem somewhere in the internet and I adopted the photo there.

The headphone jack of my iPhone is broken, it simply needs replacement. The problem is that my warranty is gone and that I moved from Italia (where I purchased the iPhone) to Belgium in the meantime. I wanted to get it fixed by apparantly I can't get it fixed, neither with Apple because my warranty is gone, neither with Mobistar (the iPhone-provider in Belgium) because I didn't purchase it with them. Why is it so **** hard to get my iPhone fixed if I'm wanting to pay for it? Does anyone have suggestions what to do next? I'm starting to get a little bit desperate here.

There are quite a few third party shops that do iPhone repair. Try google to find some in your area.

Restore your phone as a new device in iTunes, this "should" remove the jailbreak & restore all default apps to your phone.

In iTunes if you have your contacts synced to Address Book just open address book on your computer and start editing.

Not true. You get one and only one download.
In some instances, itunes has allowed another download to a few. This is not the norm.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow.

If it is just the back glass panel that is broken they are very easily replaced at home and a lot cheaper too. The two screws at the bottom of the phone either side of the dock connector need unscrewing and then the back sliding up a little and popping off, then put a new one on and slid it back down and put the screws back in and hey presto!
Technically speaking this will void your warranty and probably not supposed to mention it on here but a replacement is at least $149 (depending on which model you have) whereas the new back on eBay is $10.45 for the iPhone 4 replacement back and screwdrivers or $11.53 for the 4S replacement with screwdrivers

Apple doesn't sell "insurance". If you purchased AppleCare+ with your phone, it's covered (up to 2 incidents) with a $49 deductible.
If you purchased insurance, you need to ask the insurance company.
