Is iphoto for iphone designed to replace the regular photos app?

When i baught iphoto I expected it to accuattly replace the regular photos app i was really excited to get it and when i did wow not at all what i expexted from apple

Well i baught it for many reasons but one of them. Was that i needed a refresh of the photos app i have had every iphone since the beggining and it bored me so when i saw iphotoit seemed that way like a newer way of seeing your photos while having awesome editing tools. The tools are really cool but was hoping it to be less lagy and to actuatlly replace the photos app At least that is how i saw it

Ever since updating to the new software on april 15, 2015 I have tried to merge my iPhoto library to the new photos app. It starts the merge process and at 31% fails every time.

I have this 31% issue too - when I attempt to update my iPhoto library to the new Photo app.
I have a few libraries - one on my mac, and two on a NAS. I access the NAS via wifi.
The mac based library did update, but the two network albums have yet to be successfully migrated over to Photo.
It's driving me insane!!!

Just did a Mac update yesterday for Yosemite and I can not open a picture in elements with out it crashing. Spent over 4 hours with Mac and it came down to an Adobe Issue with the New Photo which is replacing the I photo. Elements does not recognize it,

You can do that in iPhoto, too. Just go to the iphoto prefs>advanced, and set PSE as your external editor. Note that the actual editor is not the file at the top level of Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements < version number >, but rather hidden away inside the Support Files folder:
Then you just right the click the photo in iphoto and choose edit with external editor.
If you have the new Photos app, you can't drag and drop, either.

I have the exact same problem you have? I can occasionally getpushnotification, but only once a day fore facebook. For twitter, I get nothing and newer got. Assuming you mean that you opened the phone and replaced something inside, there's not much anyone here can recommend.
Find a competent repair shop or buy a new phone. Apple won't touch that one now.

whn plugged in to your imac >> when you go to itunes >> click on the iphone on left in navigation pane >> go to photos tab, is the check box checked to sync your photos?
