IS IPOD TOUCH 2nd GENERATION COMPATIBLE WITH ICLOUD AND OS X LION?

Trying to update iPod Touch to the iCloud. Is 2nd generation compatible to update to new iTune update and iCloud?

Sorry, but it is not. It can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1.  Only 3G and 4G iPod Touches can be updated to latest iOS 5 that supports iCloud.

  • Will the replacement ipod touch 2nd generation come with headphones and a usb cord

when i replace my ipod touch will it come with headphones and a usb cable

Assuming it was a replacement request via Apple, no you will not.  It will just be the iPod unit itself.  You should have held onto the USB cable and headphones.

  • HT1430 i recieved an ipod touch 2nd generation as a gift and they have reset it to factory settings and now its stuck on a screen showing an adaptor with itunes music symbol on it. I do not know where to go from here.

I recieved an apple ipod touch 2nd generation as a gift and they have reset it to factory settings and now it is stuck on a screen with an adaptor showing with the itunes music symbol at the top of the screen.

    Restore...
Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Is the iPod Touch 2nd Gen compatible with current iPhone earbuds with mic?

I have a friend that wants to talk to me on Skype with an iPod touch 2nd gen, but the earbuds don't have a microphone to talk into.
Is the iPhone earbuds with mic compatible with the Touch Gen 2? Thanks.

I found an Apple brand iPhone stereo headset (with mic) on eBay, but when I try it with my iPod Touch 2G on apps like Skype or QuickVoice, I get a message saying that there is no microphone attached. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

  • HT5610 is ipod nano 2nd generation compatible with Windows 8?

my ipod nano 2nd generation,  will not sync.  itunes says it is syncing, but nothing changes on my ipod. i tried resetting it, and everything stays the same on the ipod, not matching my current library.   i also tried manually dragging and dropping items onto the device, and still nothing happens.  i don't want to wipe everything off my ipod if it isn't compatible with windows 8, because then i won't be able to put my library, what songs/playlists are already there,  back on the ipod.

it was until the last update of itunes, and many are having issues

  • HT4962 is it possible for ipod touch (2nd generation) to use icloud?

Hi!  I just received an iPad for my birthday and would like to use iCloud to link my calendars & music to my iPod Touch, but I am struggling.  Have updated both devices and iTunes.  iTunes reads "this version of iPod software (4.2.1) is the current version".  I believe I have a second generation iPod.  Is it possible to use iCloud with this?

  • HT4623 is the ipod touch 4th generation compatible with ios7

My son has an iPod touch 4th gen.  and was trying to update it but it says at version 6.1.5 that it is at the latest version.  Is the 4th gen ipod touch able to update to verion 7 of ios?

    No.
As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • IPod Touch 2nd generation - no upgrade possible?

I bought my iPod Touch Model MC086NF on 01/04/2010. It now appears it was of the "first" 2nd generation, i.e. without the 3rd generation software.
"Following the introduction of the 3rd generation iPod Touch, Apple also continued offering the 2nd generation 8 GB version, upgraded to the same iPhone OS version as the new 3rd generation devices. The iPod Touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. Apple as well sold many refurbished iPod Touch 2nd generation models with the 3rd generation software effectively making them a 3rd generation unit. These can be identified by software version 4.3.5."
My version is 4.2.1 and it took me quite a while to find out why I couldn't upgrade to iOS 5. I'm furious about this as it appears I'm stuck with a device that cannot be upgraded anymore. Apple doesn't mention this anywhere of course (I found the detailed data on Wikipedia). The shop didn't mention anything about this of course.
Does anyone know about a "fix" for this?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Paule

    There is nothing to fix.
The 2nd gen ipod can only support 4.2.1.
    What does Apple "not mention"?
The different models are described here:

The compatible devices are shown here:

  • TS1702 what is the point of the Ipod touch(2nd generation)?Every single app Is not compatible with it.Seems like a complete ripoff to me.My phone was alot cheaper and does way more.Very frustrated with this device.

what is the point of the Ipod Touch(2nd generation)?Every single app is not compatible with it.Am I missing something? My cell phone cost 1/2 as much and does way more. This is why I don't normally purchase any apple products.Overpriced flashlight, that's about all it does.

There are still some apps compatible, with the 2G. Also, since September, Apple has now allowed download the last version of apps that were compatible with the 2G but have been updated to no longer be compatibles
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • Problems syncing iPod Touch (2nd generation) with iMac under Mountain Lion

When syncing my iPod Touch (2nd generation) with my iMac (under Mountain Lion) the entries in my diaries/agendas do not sync. Apps and music sync without a problem. What must I do?

I have this problem.. and after spending time at the Genius Bar yesterday, I discovered that my old ipod touch is obsolete..( the Ipod touch is a 32.bit system, while the newer operating system is 64... so they're simply not compatible.)
I expressed great dismay that my perfectly good ipod touch was now obsolete...  then the genius suggested I export my contacts and calendars to Google..
That was easy to do, and then, on the Google community forum i learned about nuevasync.com, which lets you synch all of this back to your ipod touch via Exchange.
    WOrked like a charm.
Nuevasync. com is free for an initial trial (10 days?) and then costs only 15$ per YEAR.. so I'll use this as a good work-around

  • My iPod touch 2nd generation does not sync my contacts. I only have iCloud contacts in my address book. How can i sync that?

My iPod touch 2nd generation does not sync my contacts. I only have iCloud contacts in my address book. How can i sync that?

I do not fully understand you question.  To use iCloud on an iOS device requires iOS 5 and the 2G only goes to iOS 4.1.2 and thysyu can't access iCloud, including contacts.
Maybe you could sync the iCloud contacts with anopther program and sync that program with the 2G iPod.
The following smple states the following for Contacts:
iCloud: What if my device or computer doesn't meet iCloud system requirements?
    Contacts
If you want to check your iCloud Contacts, you can do so by visiting icloud.com from a Mac or PC (as long as it meets the browser system requirements for icloud.com).
