Is IPS patch 5.1 (1p1) incoporated into version 5.1(2)?

Hi
IPS version 5.1 was not stable in our network, so TAC engineer gave us a special patch (1p1) and we installed it.
This 1p1 was not published on CCO officially.
Now version 5.1(2) is out, does anyone know whether 1p1 is incoporated into this 5.1(2)? Can we upgrade the IPS to 5.1(2)?

All of the fixes from 5.1(1p1) Patch have been incorporated into the 5.1(2) Service Pack.

Ok,
Here's a cute little formula to try using your systems parameters to gain some "head's-up" on an expected or estimated time to complete the patch run.
You will need a few things to prepare.
Number of "real" CPU's (not hyperthreads)
Speed of each CPU as a whole number i.e 2.87Ghz = 2,867
the total number of patches from the cluster i.e. Sept 15th = 381 (Solaris 10)
Network factor if using NFS = 2.5
local cluster file factor = 1.5
Patch cluster on CDROM factor = 3.25
Now, combine all of those elements in this equation:
{ ( #1 * #2 ) / #3 * factor(#4 or #5 or #6) }
This will yield a number in minutes of patch run time. Then all you will need to add is the standard boot up time to get the total of all patching and reboot.
Of course you could write a script to extract all of this information and feed it to "bc -l" to get a quick figure.
Example, on one of my Solaris 10 boxes with the information filled in to the equation:
#> echo "((4*2660)/381)*1.5"|bc -l
#> 41.88976377952755905511
It actually took 44.2 minutes to complete the patching of this box plus another 12 minutes to reboot. But all in all a pretty fair estimate I think.

Can't apply IPS-K9-patch-5.1-1p1

Upgraded my 5.0-1c IDSM2 blade to 5.1-1f and then to 5.1-3 but had not applied the 5.1-1p1 patch before this last upgrade. Monitoring ports kept becoming error-disabled. Downgraded to 5.1-1f in order to apply the patch but now keep getting:
Error: execUpgradeSoftware : This update requires that version IPS-K9-min-5.1-1 be installed prior to update.
even though a "sh ver" tells me I am at 5.1(1)
Has anybody come across this before?

You do not have to apply the p1 patch. It is rolled up into 5.1(2) and now 5.1(3). If your ports are becoming err-disabled, its for something not associated with the p1 patch. The usual cause is trying to hard-code the port speed or duplex.

There are not any EBS Adapters for FDM.
If you are just importing a source file from EBS, you would need to setup an import format to parse the source file in FDm and then assign the import format to the location that will be used to load the target system and run the import process.
If you are looking to pull directly from EBS, you would need to use ERP Integrator (ERPi) to connect to oracle EBS and then use the ERPI adpater in FDM to pull the data from ERPI into FDM.
Can you be specific on what you are looking to do?

Patching - patches vs patch sets - how to apply different version numbers?

I am starting with a base 10.2.0.1 install.
What is the difference between a patch, and a patch set? (I assume individual patches are aggregated into a patch set, right?)
I take it, a patch set can take me from 10.2.0.1 to either 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3. (right?)
If I get to either 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3 by means of a patch set, then I assume I get patches only for that new version?
If I get a patch set that is, say, patch set 2 for version 10.2.0.3, then is a patch 2 for that patch set redundant, or does the patch go beyond the patch set?
Sorry if a little confused here, but the instructions are not obvious...

Your last question is more unclear than your second in my head... but you can have a patch 2 for the patchset 2 of 10.2 release...

Patch set 3 of Application Server (version 10.1.2.3)

All,
I just got word that patch set 3 of Applications Server 10.1.2 (10.1.2.3) is now targeted for March 7th 2008.
It includes support for MS Vista, both on the client and the builder.
It does not include certification for Sun's plug-in version 1.6 though. It is targeted for the end of March currently.

Let me explain, although I am sure Jan can clarify further if required when he comes on line.
If for example, 10.1.2.3 came out on the 15 March (made up date) and we said that we have not yet completed our certification testing.
Then between the 15th and the 30th March we run all our tests and everything passes (it can take a week or so to do the testing). Then on the 30th of March we can say "10.1.3.2 IS certified".
So, we don't need to patch it, its just that we haven't completed all our certfication testing by the time the product is released.

Adobe Flash player patch trouble 10.3.183.5 version

Have baselined the flash patch along with sun java, REader X and shockwave. All is fine for all the patches that I have baselined except for the flash one.
in Patch Mgmt it never shows as patched, even though manual check on the devices shows it has installed flash player - watching the ZPM package progress it seems to fail on action 3 or 4 of 4, but as I see it the flash install works, untill next time the failed ZPM package runs (because it failed) and the first action of a flash install is uninstall - which then on some devices (so far about 10 of 130) leaves the device "flash-less".
So Flash seems to be a problem child even outside ZPM/ZCM/Lumension so currently my fix is this:
- Remove adobe flash from baseline and remidiation (disabe)
- get the standalone active x installer.exe (we only run IE) (from fpadobe site)
- get the adobe flash uninstaller.exe
- create a run once package that does:
copy the 2 exe's to local folder
Promt to close IE and/or "taskkill /F /IM iexplore.exe" (if not installer will fail with error 1025) (succes codes 1,128 to handle normal return and return if process not there)
run the uninstaller with option "-uninstall" (silent)
run the installer with option "-install" (silent)
Also note that if the flash control panel is open during install you'll get an exit code 1040.
Run the 2 exe's as DAU user (if not it will fail on Windows 7, but is OK on XP)
Do a distribute Now/install immediatley/launch after install relationship to devices
(in rare cases you need to get a fp10 reg permission batch file that uses subinacl to clean badly affected devices, but this is very rare)
So I would prefer a ZPM package of flash that actually works - would this be forthcomming ?

Are there a patch to sql*net v1 access version 2?

My client is MS-DOS and running sql*net v1
my server is Oracle E7.1.6 under Sco unix OpenServer 5.0.2 and running sql*net v1 and v2.
How can I upgrade my server to Oracle 7.3.x or 8.x. without upgrade my client version
Are there a patch to sql*net v1?
so I can use version 1 access version 2.
How can I get the patch?

Stacking photos into version sets

I imported my photos into a new catalog, but now the version sets are separated into individual photos.
How can I get the photos restacked into the version sets?
I am presently using Elements 4, and intended on cleaning up my catalog prior to loading Elements 8.

Importing iMovie 5 Projects Into Version 11?

Hi Gang!
A quick one. I have a bunch of iMovie projects made with iMovie version 5 I did on an old MacBook (PPC). Since there's no "Open Project" on the new iMovie 11 menu, is Import->iMovie HD Project the right way to do it?
Is this going to re-create the whole movie all over again? In that case should I delete the old version 5 iMovie project to save space?

Import/iMovie HD project is the way to go.
I haven't tested it except from iMovie 6 HD, the version after yours. It is possible you would have to convert first to iMovie 6 and then to iMovie 11, but it may work from iMovie HD directly. As I say, I have not tested.
You should know that it will import your video clips into an iMovie 11 Event. Any clips that you had selected for the project timeline will be placed into an iMovie 11 Project. However, it will not carry forward any special effects, music, titles, etc. I think transitions will be replaced with a cross-fade transition. This is from memory, but all this is documented in iMovie/Help.
Once you have done this, you can delete the iMovie HD project. Your event clips will now be available to all projects without having to duplicate them every time you use them.
I would keep it for a month or so until you get the hang of the new version just to be safe.

11.0.0.5 patch does not update AcroRd32.exe version?

It appears that when you patch an Administrative Install Point (AIP) using the new patch (AdbeRdrSecUpd11005.msp), the patched AIP's AcroRd32.exe file (located in AIP\program files\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader directory) retains the same version number as 11.0.0.4, which is version 11.0.4.63.
I was expecting a version # change. I am getting an error that the product is already installed when attempting to manually install via msiexec /i pointing to the AIP. I am confident that I have built the AIP in the correct order using Base product -> quarterly 11.0.0.4 -> OOC 11.0.0.5.

Is this a bug in the packaging of the update? Or is this intentional? Or is there something else I am missing?

It appears as if only AcroRd32.dll was replaced for the 11.0.5 update.

Import dvd-ram video data into version 11

I work with a mac mini and the external super drive. The importer window does not show the drive. Older posts recommend to use an internal drive, but of course ALL mac mini ONLY have external drives.
When I transfer the data to hard disk it is also not possible to import it. Other software does open the .vro file without problem.

I work on OSX Mavericks but I don't work with a Mac mini, so I've no idea what its special needs are.
But you should have no problem navigating to a properly configured drive, even if it's external. I frequently use an external drive as my media source for my iMac.
So I'm not sure what's up at your end.
