Is it a bug in Mavericks Calendar?

Hi, adding new events in my Calendar app i just realized that whenever i try and set a custom alarm to notify the event more than 2 days before it, it doesnt keep it. In particular i want to set an alarm 1 week before the event, and it seems there isn't a preset for it, so i tried to make a custom alarm and it can't save it.
Do you guys have the same problem?

Hi
- I had the same problem and I suddently found out:
Close (quit) calendar
Under System-Icloud : log out
Open calendar. Under preferences, Account, Icloud: log in !!
And it works!!
now the stupid ""Moving calendars to server account" is gone!

  • Where has the free/busy option gone in Mavericks' Calendar?

I can't find this option anywhere in the Mac Mavericks Calendar info/edit pane of an event.
My calendar is synced from Mac Calendar to iPhone 4S with today's IOS 7.0.3 update.
The iPhone entries no longer show free or busy like they did before but they do still have the option available in the edit pane.
I'm hoping I'm just being a bit thick!
Revised: it's showing as there in the new Mavericks Blurb!

Thanks for the feedback, Bryan and Laurent.
Bearing in mind that I'm using a straightforward Mac to iPhone sync it's curious that it seems to show for the third-party set-ups and not the 100% Apple-shaped ones!
I've just run a little experiment:
    1) opened a Mac Calendar event with a known 'show as: Busy' in TextEdit. The TRANSP field was correctly showing as OPAQUE.
    2) refreshed iPhone Calendar and then changed the event to 'show as: Free'.
    3) refreshed Mac Calendar and opened the event in TextEdit. The TRANSP field had correctly updated to TRANSPARENT.
This confirms to me that the information is there and properly recorded but, for whatever reason, the field is simply not showing in Calendar under Mac OS X 10.9 for me at this time.
Mavericks has a few annoyances that are nudging me to consider a move back to Mountain Lion.
I had already left feedback for Apple but I will also now file a bug report on the Developer's pages.

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

  • When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.  Is this a bug in Mavericks?

When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.
This happens not just with the SSD in my Mac Mini, but with another SSD in my MacBook (both now running Mavericks).  So far as I know, all of the kit I am using is in good order (despite the file corruption reports).  So I am beginning to wonder if it could be due to a bug in Mavericks?  Both SSD drives have been formatted to MacOS Extended (journaled) format.  Should I have used a different format, I wonder?
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
    Does anyone have a solution?
Or an explanation that might help my investigation of the issue?
    Thanks guys,

I understand that the Corsair Force 3 is not one of the SSD drives that are supported on Apple Macs.
I did try downloading and using Trim Enabler, but the error message came up both when it was off and when it was on.
I understand that not everyone thinks Trim Enabler is a good program, though there is a new version out now, so I may give it another try.

  • How to see filename for Mavericks Calendar Open File alert?

How can you see the name / path of the file to be opened for a Mavericks Calendar Open File alert from the Calendar UI?
Before Mavericks, the file's name would be displayed in the item itself like this:
Now all I see is something more like this:
So I can longer see or verify exactly which file (if any) will be opened.

The external image URL in my previous post isn't displaying, so here's a copy of the old iCal Open File image:

  • Bug in OVI calendar (web)

     Hello
I've found bug in OVI calendar (web).
When I change date of events (Edit all event occurrences), or name of events, the date of changed event is not a valid date
    Ex.
I have event: EXAMLE, 22-10-2009 (How often will it happen? - WEEKLY). Next, I changing date 21-10-2009 and... The date of events it is finally 23-10-2009.
BTW: In google calendar it is OK.

    Both bugs still exist.
When I create an all day event, initially it shows as a full day event for the correct day. When I check back later, the event is shown as full day for two days. Synced to the phone (N8) the events are displayed correctly.
I am also unable to edit e.g. birthdays that started in 1980's. I get a message saying I need to edit the first instance.

The New Mavericks Calendar uses very faint fonts, how can I increase the contrast?

    Hi,
One thing can help a little is the following.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.  Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.  Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.  Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

  • The Maverick Calendar App-Alert Option-to Open a File-stops working after a few days

The Maverick Calendar App, Alert Option, to Open a File works for a few days, than stops. The Calendar alert still triggers, but the reference to launching the other file disappears. Has anyone found and solved this problem?
This Calendar, Open File Option, worked fine without error in 10.8 and earlier, but I was only given the option to launch an Apple Script.

  • Mavericks Calendar – Can't change calendar when connected to Exchange server

    Hello,
I am migrating from Mac Outlook to Mavericks Calendar (Version 7.0 (1841.1)), but I am very used to colorizing my events so that I can understand what client a meeting is referring to at a glance. However, when I moved to the Calendar app, I no longer have that ability. After searching, I found that I could create Calendars using the File -> New Calendar tool in the menu. Unfortunately, I get a message saying that if I move an event from my default Exchange calendar the events will not longer auto-update and that reoccurring events will not change calendars.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this work or enable some way to colorize my events within the Calendar app? If not does anyone have a really good inexpensive alternative?
Here are some screenshots of what I am seeing.
    Thank you,
    -p

    Hi Daniel,

  • BUG: Mavericks calendar failed to start application

After migration from 10.7.5 to 10.9 all scheduled applications were gone.
They are still within the old Library folder structure, but the calender entries were removed due that change/ update.
I have to create all entries from scratch.
Thank you Apple for more work :-(
    NEW
    file:///Users/USERNAME/Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/
    OLD
    file:///Users/USERNAME/Library/Workflows/Applications/iCal/

    Solution:
Not allowing process launching "/Users/.../Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/....app" because the security assessment verdict was denied.
If you get the issue, the easiest way to fix it is to run it manually once.  Once you do that the OS will start trusting it.

  • OS X Mavericks Calendar issue

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, when I open my calendar on my MacBook pro it endlessly says "Moving calendars to server account..."
I cannot acces calendar, and must force quit.  I have restarted my computer and upgraded Firefox and Safari.
How do I get my calendar back?

    Re-Selecting a "standard" Date/Time/Number/Currency Format using:
System Preferences > Languages & Text > Formats
Choose one off the list that is NOT the same as the one you typically use, and Save changes.
Then try resetting the Date & Time and Time Zone.
Then change Languages & Text to the settings you typically use and Save changes.
this resolved the issue.. But in the process i found out that if we select indian national then the time automatically goes back to SAKA and 1935. I suppose this is a bug for the selection indian national in the settings. Apple probably should address this.

  • Bug: Repeating Google Calendar Events Show Up On The Wrong Days

I've created a Google Calendar event that repeats "Daily," every two days, from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. It shows up fine in my Google Calendar, but the Pre's Calendar puts them on the wrong days. For example, the repeating event that should be scheduled for today shows up tomorrow (offset by +1 day).
I tried turning off network timezones, but the bug remains.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is a bug, how can I submit it to Palm?
    Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
    Some new data:
If I create the repeating event on my Pre, rather than via Google, it shows up on the Pre correctly. However, it only shows up for one day via Google (today); the event is not repeated. When I edit the event in Google, it's setup correctly. I tried saving the event from there, but it doesn't cause Google to recognize it should repeat.
    Very frustrating.
    Even more new data:
Created yet another event via my Pre instead of via Google. This time Google picked up the correct repeat pattern, and my Pre now shows it on the correct days.
Calendar sync needs serious work, based on my experience. I have issues with Facebook events showing up an hour later than they should, too. Dunno if this has been fixed yet.
    New Data (01/28/2010)
Not sure why, but the above success reverted back to being off by one day; temporary success only.

Hi, another quick question: you say you turned off network timezones.... did you make sure that the (now manually set) timezone is correct?
Sounds similar to other issues related to the timezone being off, but usually the appointments were off by hours... not day(s).  However if your timezone is set to something really odd and the event you're creating is around midnight (again depends on a few things here), then MAYBE this is it.
If it isn't, one of the support guys will have to chat with you privately about possibly collecting logs, getting more granular details, etc.

  • No longer snooze times in mavericks calendar?

I think I have this figured out now after several runs through these discussions and other forums, but I want to make sure I'm correct in my understanding... can someone please confirm?
I used to rely heavily on ical alerts for things that didn't have finite deadlines, but rather some thing would extend for days or even weeks beyond their original date. I'm finding now with the new calendar app in mavericks/10.9.x that the snooze option only works for periods of time longer than a few minutes, when and only when, those lengths of time still fit in prior to the actual time of the event. is this the way it works, or just how I'm interpreting it?
I did find the reminders app still has the ability to snooze something for 1-2 hours or days, or even weeks, like ical used to.
do I need to move ALL my recurring events (such as tax payment reminders that come up 15-60 days in advance of when they're actually due) so that I have the ability to delay them for more than a few minutes?
to give you an idea of how I used it... I would set recurring events for quarterly tax payments to come up perhaps 15 days ahead of when I'd expect to prepare them, which might have been 30 days prior to them being due. now, when they come up in calendar app, they only give me the option to snooze them for a few minutes, not 2 hours, or a day, or a week as I used to depending on my work load and/or prep of documentation. beyond this, I also had several things that I reminded myself to do but weren't critical if not performed on or by that date. I used to push things one day at a time for weeks, and sometimes one week at a time for months. it appears that none of this is possible anymore?
am I correct in my understanding that calendar has severely limited its snooze options and reminders, a completely separate app, is the only way to bring some of the functionality back to my mac? I really do not want to move everything that doesn't have a finite due date over to another app. perhaps I'm better off jumping from 10.6 to 10.9 like I did last week. as I'm reading all the notes, it sounds like others had it worse over the previous versions of 10.7 and 10.8. I'm not looking forward to moving to busycal or something similar just because apple foolishly removed functionality that had been fine for years and years. is there any way to customize plist files or anything that would allow me to bring additional snooze options back to the 20+ calendars I have from the past dozen years or so working in osx?

    whosails,
quite right! I agree, this was painfully difficult to find! and your solution is the correct one. it took me an age to figure that out!
