Is it a good idea to save emails in the raw format (.eml)?

We currently save all of our emails onto a server, organised into projects, as RTF files.
We're thinking about saving them as raw files (i.e. .eml) as there is more fidelity and you can include attachments.
However, we're worried that these might not always be as easy to open as RTF files, which have proved to be very robust over the years in this regard.
Do you think we would we be leaving ourselves open to problems opening files if we started saving our emails as EML files?

How about mbox format? It can be imported into just about any email program. There are at least two ways of creating an mbox from Mail:
Choose a mailbox and select Mailbox > *Archive Mailbox...*. This will create a folder hierarchy that can be easily reimported into Mail. Buried inside is a file (inside the .mbox folder) named "mbox" that can be imported into other email programs.
Alternatively, select the messages you want to archive. Choose *Save As...* and choose "Raw message source". This also creates an mbox file.

  • How do you view the TO line in an email in the new format?

When viewing an email, I do not see the TO line; I only see the sender's information, date/time and subject.  Even when I reply, it doesn't show the TO line. This is very important when determining to choose Reply or Reply to All.

I am sorry the line is missing for you. Are you using the Verizon website to access your email or are you using an email program (Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, Windows Live mail, etc) ?

  • I have a new NikonD7200 camera. I have updated to the latest version of LightroomCC and restarted my computer.  LR tells me that the raw format from my Nikon is not supported by Lightroom?  Any ideas??

Lightroom tells me that the RAW format from the D7200 is not s format recognised by Lightroom.
How do I make this work??

You seem not to have updated to LR 6 / LR CC 2015 - this is needed fro the D7200.

  • Outlook 2013 won't auto-save emails if encryption or digital signature is enabled.

In Outlook 2013, I recently noticed that although I have Autosave enabled, I never get drafts autosaved. The option is located in File > Options > Mail > "Save Messages" section > "[ ] Automatically save items that have not been
sent after this many minutes [3]."
Experimenting with why I have lost 2 long emails after system crashes, I discovered that Outlook 2013 will
only automatically save emails if the Encrypt and Sign buttons are turned off. By default, I enable both in our corporate environment. So I never benefit from auto-save. I've changed the Autosave location and tested various other settings to
no avail. But Autosave always works fine if there's no digital signature or encryption enabled.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a bug?

    Hi,
I just tested on my Outlook 2013 and experienced exactly the same.
This is pretty much by design, actually you may find you are even unable to manually save these emails as drafts if encryption or digital signature is enabled.  I can also confirm some email service providers don't allow saving Encrypted Emails
as drafts either, so this is not a bug but how it works in Outlook.

How do you set ipad 3 to not save email password

With the Mail app you can't, you will need to go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and remove it and then go back in and add it back when you want to access that account again. You could use Safari instead and create a homescreen shortcut to your account's login page.

  • PS CS4 "Save As ..." format choices appear in duplicate

When I select the Format in the Save As dialog, the available format appear twice. Is there a way to restore the list so each available format appears just once once?
    Windows XP SP2

I have had PS CS4 installed in the standard location for some months, and PS CS3 has been removed also for some months. The "duplicates" only showed up yesterday.
*But* your mention of plugins reminds me that I *did* install the Airtight Flash galleries mentioned a few days ago by John Nack at
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2009/01/airtight_flash.html
Just now I removed the Airtight Flash extension with the extension manager, but the duplicates are still there. If this might have caused the problem, if anyone knows how I may avoid the PSCS4 reinstall, I'd be grateful.
Anyhow, thanks very much for the memory jog.

  • Is it good idea to store video files in database?

    Hi,
In my project I am storing everything in database BLOB column.
Everything includes images, documents, videos and any thing uploaded from form.
Someone suggested me that video should not be save in database.
I want to know it is good idea to store everything in database BLOB column?
    - Thanks
    Zohaib.

But I don't Recommend to store video in Database , Which it will effect on your Space and performance .That is the silliest thing I have ever heard. The alternative to storing it in a database is to store it on the file system, which takes up space and performance just as much.
Store away - BLOBs are fine for storing videos in the DB
Someone suggested me that video should not be save in databaseUnless they told you why, and backed it up with actual facts, I'd discount what they said by about 99.9999%

  • Use of "Rel" Attribute in Links -- Good Idea?

    Hi --
I was reading about various SEO methods recently and came
    across several
pages which advocate the use of the "Rel" attribute on a
    hyperlink. The idea
being that the "Rel" may influence how a search engine views
    a link and
possibly help with ranking. For example: <a
    href="help.html" rel="Help">
    need help?</a>.
Sounds like a good idea, but the more I read the confused I
    became. A Danny
Sullivan article about use of the attribute "nofollow" used
    by major search
engines made sense. It was the other article I read which
    used all
different types of attributes that confused me such as
    rel="met colleague",
rel="alternate". Is there someplace I can go to find a list
    of widely
    accepted attributes?
Anyone have any experience with this?
    John

Thanks, Joe. Yep, the source is the best place to start.
    Should have
    thought of that myself.
I suspect you're assessment is correct...won't hurt, might
    help.
    Thanks again.

  • Is a time capsule a good idea for a college student living in a dorm?

Is a time capsule a good idea for a college student living in a dorm?

Before you buy......you need to check with the school to see if they allow wireless routers in the dorms, or on campus at all.
Most schools prohibt the use of wireless routers due to interference issues.
Even if the school might allow this, there is no way to know in advance how well this might work....and frankly this type of setup is difficult, even if you have a friend who "knows computers".
If it were me, I would purchase a hard drive for backups....just like you do now.... and send an email once or twice a week to the student to remind them to "backup".

  • Save email to file

    Hi!
I need to save emails that I'm going to send into a file (for archiving purpose). I need the file to be opened by Outlook and preferbly Thunderbird and (osx) Mail.
I'm using javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage to build the mail and sends it with javax.mail.Transport.
Does it exist a good MimeMessage to file-translator? What is the preferd file-format for this kind of files so that I can support as many email-programs as possible?
    Thanks in advance
    Roland Carlsson

You need a local store provider. See the JavaMail Third Party Products page:
    http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/Third_Party.html
I don't know if there's a file format that all email programs will understand.
A single MIME message in a file is probably pretty close. For that, all you
need is Message.writeTo. But I'm not sure how to get all mail programs to
open such a file and treat it as a message.
