Is it advisable to upgrade Postfix in OS 10.3.9 Server to latest stable ver

I have upgraded and updated all related items (amvisd, spammassassin, Clam AV, CPAN modules, OSX,....) on OS 10.3.9 Mail Server.
Is it a good idea to update Postfix to latest ( I think it is v. 2.2.4 or 7), from the Postfix vesion that came originally with the server (2.0.10)?
And if so what is the safwst way?
Thanks to all that reply.
Nabil

safest and most effective??
you might as well just skip OS X Server and run Darwin if you are going to take this type of responsibility.
Unless there is some overly compelling reason to risk the synchronicity of the installed version with Server Operating system and it's tools, then I wouldn't even come close to considering this.
Unsoliced advise of course. I assume (hope) your server is not in production.

  • CSM - Is it advisable to upgrade to latest version 4.2.(4)?

    Hi Sir,
I have a pair of Cisco Catalyst 6513 switches; each contains a CSM (WS-X6066-SLB-APC). Both CSMs are configured in a fault tolerant group. Both running software version 4.2.(3).
Below is latest Field Notice for CSM (DDTS = CSCsd27478):
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_field_notice09186a00806b056a.shtml
Cisco recommends software upgrade to version 4.2.(3a). I have checked; the latest version is 4.2.(4). Is it advisable to upgrade to 4.2.(4)?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    B.Rgds,
    Lim TS

If you are running 4.2.3 it is definitely recommended to upgrade to 4.2.4

  • How do I upgrade my Core2Duo Mini OSX10.4.11 to the latest version of Snow Leopard?

How do I upgrade my Core2Duo Mini OSX10.4.11 to the latest version of Snow Leopard?
I am aware I should upgrade from 1GB to 2GB of RAM.  Can I just purchase the Snow Leopard DVD and install from that?  Will I be able to run my Microsoft Office 2004 suite?  Is it worth doing?  I can't run any decent browsers with this old dinosaur.....but I'd rather not cough up $600 clams for a new one....
I have 7GB available on my hard drive.
Thanks in advance for help with this.

You may also want to upgrade the HD or at least move large libraries onto external disks (since a macmini generally does not move like a laptop an external disk is just another desktop item).  7 GB free will be chewed into hard by SL and you should always have 15-20 GB free to allow OSX room to perform normal operations.

  • Upgrading 10.6.8 to Snow Leopard Server?

After a recent servicing at the Apple Retail store, my mid-2010 MacMini has a clean installation of OS X 10.6.8 (client, i.e., non-Server). I want to re-install OS X Snow Leopard Server that came with the machine when it was purchased. Can it be installed on top of 10.6.8, or do I need to wipe the disks again and re-install from scratch using the Snow Leopard Server Install DVD?

Thanks mende1, I appreciate the quick response.
What is the general consensus within the community about the relative benefits of upgrading to Mountain Lion (particularly within a server environment)? I'm thinking that if I have to do a complete OS install, I might as well upgrade to Mountain Lion and then apply the Server.app on top of that.

  • Upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server

    Hi,
I have been looking on adobe site to check if I can have an upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. I have Indesign CS3 license but need to migrate to Indesign CS5 server. Does anybody know whether it is possible to buy upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. Or will I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Any help on this is appriciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have been using Indesign CS3 for generating automated reports. These reports are large in numbers. Limitation with Indesign CS3 is it only allows single instance of the application. And hence I am forced to generate these reports in sequence using multiple servers. Indesign CS5 server on the other hand seems to allow multiple instances running at the same time. This would mean I can generate multiple reports at the same time. This will reduce time to generate these reports and also limit the number of servers. This is the reason I want to migrate from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. However, I am not sure if I can get direct upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server or I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Do you have any idea on this, please suggest. Thanks in advance for your response.
    Regards,

To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

  • Running 10.4.11... do I need to/can I upgrade in order to get iTunes 10 and sync latest ios5 devices?

running 10.4.11... do I need to/can I upgrade in order to get iTunes 10 and sync latest ios5 devices?

If you have the following you can upgrade to Leopard:
    Leopard System requirements
You must have a Macintosh computer with:
an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor
    a DVD drive >built-in FireWire
at least 512 MB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended for development purposes)
a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
at least 9 GB of disk space available, or 12 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
If you meet the following you can upgrade to Snow Leopard:
    Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
And, lastly, if you meet these requirements you can upgrade to Lion:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
You must upgrade to Lion to use iCloud.

  • Is it possible to upgrade only apache in oracle 10g application server.

Is it possibel to upgrade only apache version in oracle 10g application server. if yes.could you suggest the steps that i need to follow.
    This is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sathya

If your trying to upgrade just apache in that oracle home, then no. If your trying to upgrade to a real apache version, from apache.org, mod_oc4j won't work. You need to use Oracle's version of Apache or HTTP Server.
Is there a reason you only want to upgrade Apache and not the whole oracle home?
There are ways to do it, but it wouldn't be supported by Oracle and I wouldn't recommend that either.

I'd suggest reading this guide to make sure you have prepared your environment to support 10.x first. The link below also contains the upgrade path to 10.0(1).
One of the ways you can do this is:
1/ Apply refresh upgrade cop file on all servers in cluster.
2/ Upgrade the cluster to 8.6(2). Take a backup of the cluster.
3/ Build a cluster of 8.6(2) servers on VMs, and assign them the same hostnames and IP address as the hardware cluster. (You may need to keep these on a separate network until switching off the hardware machines)
4/ Restore the backup taken from the hardware cluster on to the VM cluster.
5/ Upgrade VM cluster to 10.0(1).

  • Macbook pro - Please advise HDD upgrade

Hail, my Macbook Pro brothers and sisters!
I know this question has probably been asked a gajillion times, but I'm gonna ask anyway.
I have a Macbook pro ( mid-2012 model ). I tried looking on the internet for a 2 to 4TB internal HDD for upgrading my Macbook pro. Does anyone know where I buy? All I have found in that size are external HDD But I do not want an external drive. I want an internal upgrade. Please advise. Replies are much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, you can clone one drive to another using Disk Utility:
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • Advise on upgrade DR with HA and MSCS - from ECC6 to EHP5

    Dear All,
I would like to upgrade ECC6 to EHP5 which is HA and run on windows 2008 R2 MSCS, MSSQL2008 on both prod and DR environment.
I don't see any problem upgrading HA based on the EHPI guide, however, i need some input on upgrading the DR.
As what i can think, during the upgrade, we'll first stop the log shipping to DR and perform EHP5 upgrade on PROD. Once EHP5 upgrade completed successfully on PROD, could we merely stop sql services and copy the datafiles + logs to DR and upgrade the Kernel from 7.00 to 7.20 since 7.20 kernel is downward compatible??
Your expert advise is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nicholas Chang.

    Hi,
Since you need to stop logging during downtime phase. So, best way to do this is, after your production system will be upgraded to EHP5 level, upgrade kernel on the DR server and again restore the backup of your production system to DR server and start log shipping again.
    Thanks
    Sunny
