Is it appropriate on the forum to...

We're about to launch a product and I would like to know if
it is OK to use this forum to determine interest, send a link to a
demo, and ask what a reasonable price people would pay?

Thanks Alan and John. We're working on the demo site now. As
soon as we are ready, I will repost here. I just wanted to make
sure it was appropriate. Apparently it is. Thanks.
The product allows someone who does not know .html or flash
to add new flash content to an existing .html page. The new content
can be fun animations to context-sensitive multi-media help for an
.html form. The context-sensitive help feature effect is much like
TurboTax. Version 1.0 will be for IE only but V 2.0 will be
cross-browser.
We will include flash content with the product and will also
sell libraries of flash content from fun animations to useful
widgets. We are looking to partner with flash developers to license
their existing flash content.
Thanks,
Steve

    Dear Jan
Sometime i found very difficuties and time taking process in putting questions in forum bcos i have to elaborate the whole pictorial process in words.
Why Cant we make our this forum more Interactive in way of asking questions by allowing us to attach print preview of what we face in the system.

  • To Philip Lille - appropriate use of forums

Your previous post is being systematically deleted because it is a rant.
this is a user-to-user help forum.  If you have a question that some of us might be able to help with, then that is appropriate.  RANTS are not appropriate in this forum.
But feel free to give it to Apple as feedback in the appropriate forum.

Sylvia is probably right about the origin of that practice, memory leaks were a huge problem (and are to a lesser extent in Java). You really shouldn't avoid doing multiple returns to avoid memory leaks in C++ even. Usually when you allocate memory that you're expecting to simply disapear at the end of a function, you're going to allocate it as a stack variable, rather than using new, and it will be removed when it falls out of scope. There are some functions, like strcpy, and strdup, to name a few, that will allocate memory, and it's possible you could return out without removing that data. I find if this is likely to happen, the user probably wasn't thinking about releasing the data to begin with, and could just as easily return at the end of the function without releasing the memory, as he/she would at any point inside the function. I'd hope that you'd be using this newly created memory for some purpose before returning, so I would assume it's use would be complete before you left that function, and definitely it would be ready to be deleted.

  • Login the forum

Every time I enter into the forum, I have to go thru login process. Can the website remember me so I do not need to login every time.

    Hi, Odysseus1479 -
That happens to me, too, using IE 5 in OS 9.
However, the OP is referring to a different sequence. Try this - log out. Go to a Discussions page which shows you as being logged out, i.e., one which shows the "Welcome Guest" statement. Then click the "Log In" link - if it behaves in the manner being discussed, instead of being taken to the log in password-entry page, you'll be taken to an appropriate Discussions page (either the main/home page for Discussions or the parent category for the forum you're in when you click the log in link) which shows you as being logged in - and you will actually be logged in.
One concern with this behavior is that if the machine is accessible to others, just logging out is insufficient to guard against an unauthorized person being able to use the account - if the browser is not also quit, then all the interloper need do is click the log in link, and they will be logged in and will be able to post using the owner's account.

  • Where is the forum for Adobe Playpanel?

I need to find where to post regarding problems with Playpanel.  Adobe Tech Support referred me to the forums, saying there is no phone support available.  I cannot find anything similar in the 'All Forums' list.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Believe it or not, I actually got an e-mailed response from a rep at adobe.com.  There are known Playpanel issues with Windows Vista (my OS), which explains why I'm having problems.  The fix for my above mentioned issue is to actually delete a startup shortcut elsewhere.  This one is in the Start menu>All programs>Startup.  Open this and there is the Playpanel startup shortcut.  This must be deleted by selecting in right-click.  It was the only item in that particular folder on my system.  I've only used startup settings in System Configuration in the past.  Never thought about even checking this other folder.  Once deleted the app no longer starts on system bootup, so you want to make sure to put a shortcut on your desktop- installation of the software didn't include this.  Find the appropriate folder in Program Files by verifying it starts the app when opened and right-click to create the shortcut.
Sorry there's no good location to post this info, but maybe it might help somebody looking around about Playpanel.

  • Option to paste screenshots in the Forums

    Hello,
According to me, it would be really a great help if we can also insert some screenshots in the forum Question and answer. I also understand that this enhancement may take lot of server space .....but our bottom line for providing SDN Forums is to provide a Quick and realible solution to the members....!
    EnjoySAP

Screenshots can be added as attachments in the wiki.
That is the appropriate place to house them.

  • Monitoring the Forum

    Dear Forum Users:
You might have noticed that we haven't been as diligent as usual in monitoring this forum over the past couple of weeks. There are a number of reasons for this - vacations, pressure to get the next release of Portal out, etc. We will continue to do our best to respond to forum questions, but I'd like to make a couple of suggestions for use of the forum that will help us all:
    [list=1]
[*]Please search the forum before posting a question. Chances are high that your question has been asked before.
[*]Please be sure that your question is appropriate for this forum. Keep in mind that there are five Portal forums on different topics (PDK, Applications, Content Areas, Security, and General), plus a forum for Application Server questions.
[*]If another user has posted a question, and you know the answer, please go ahead and respond. Everyone will benefit if Portal product management can focus on the really hard questions, while the rest of you share your knowledge and experience on other topics. Many thanks to those users who have already made excellent contributions to the body of knowledge that is available here.
[*]If you have an urgent problem that needs immediate resolution, please log a TAR with Oracle Support in addition to posting your question.
    [list]
We will continue to give the forum a high priority, and we appreciate your patience when we are not able to get to your questions as promptly as we would like. We also appreciate your ongoing support for Oracle9iAS Portal.
    Best regards,
    Jerry

    Hello Ricardo,
It seems that you were able to establish the VPN tunnel.
Now, in order to see more from the office site, you need to make sure that on the office site the different permissions to access the resources you want are configured.
If you want to access your windows server through VPN, on the location of the windows server, you need to make proper configuration (firewalls, access list, IP assignments, etc, I don't know how is your network configured) to allow remote access (via VPN) to your server.
What I suggest is to go and check your network configuration where your windows server is located, and test again your VPN.
If you are still unsure of what to do, please provide me your network topology, that way I can point you in the correct direction in order to solve your problem

  • Comments about the Forums

Forums Discussion is exclusively for the discussion of Forums operation.  Items such as Forum Bugs, Speed Problems and other topics about appearance and performance of the Forums.
It's not meant as a Discussion area for product sales, support or Operation.
If you got here by accident we may suggest the area to go to. And we may ask how you got here by accident so we can suggest fixes for the problem to appropriate parties.

And BTW: its  either Dreamweaver or DreamWeaver not dream weaver.
Thanks for correcting my "spelling". And no I don't use that product so I have no clue on the correct term for it.
And for the record the correct way to phrase that is:
And BTW: it's either Dreamweaver or DreamWeaver, not dream weaver.
I don't see any spelling errors. However, the first sentence is fragmented.
It's because he has edited the post. Probably did it so he wouldn't look so stupid when he corrected my grammar.

  • Is the forum software falling apart?

Yesterday I posted a note about the stuck communications counter, which happened again, but this post was nowhere to be found and still has not appeared anywhere. And apparently, others make the same experiences. Seems like there are some problems with the internal forum notification system.
I think some confirmation or note from the forum administration whether or not this is a known issue would be necessary.

Maybe what the forum management needs is someone in charge with an IT management background understanding the needs of IT professionals when exchanging information. My impression so far is that the people in charge of this forum are some sort of social media analysts, perhaps playing around with Facebook and Twitter all day long. I mean, nothing personal, but the forum software priorities and quality acceptance hardly meets the current community expectation of what the software should do or even how it works or looks like. And it does not even play nicely with any of the new-age computer devices.
Good point.  I was looking at the installation docs for Jive yesterday, and the thought occurred to me ... how many forum admins (perhaps, "especially Jive based forums") have, by the very nature of the forum subject, a community that is capable of reading and understanding the documentation of the forum software?  Who are professionally equipped to do the admins job themselves?  In other words, who are quite capable (and willing?) to back-check and fact-check claims about the capabilities of the forum software ...
As I move about other technical support forums, I seem to see a lot more of whatever is used by forums.virtualbox.org, www.unix.com, etc.  Just good, basic forum software.  Nothing fancy, and certainly no attempt at being "social media".   At this point, I think a case could be made for throwing out the idea of 'backward compatibility'.  Just archive the current content, and move to a more appropriate platform with a link to the archives.

  • Speed of email processing in the forums

Trying to see if there is a correlation between message size and the
time it takes these forums to publish a message from the moment the Jive

According to <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.sdn.businesscard.sdnbusinesscard?u=hr1ligsysz0%3d">alan Rickayzen</a> workflow questions should be populating the <a href="SAP Business Workflow Process Management Forum</a> as Suresh mentioned above.
The forum is described like this:
    Forum: Business Process Management (BPM)
Business process management (BPM) enables companies to model, configure, execute and monitor business scenarios and processes, to adapt them continuously to new strategies. This forum covers ARIS for SAP NetWeaver and the following tools within SAP NetWeaver: SAP Solution Manager, SAP Exchange Infrastructure, <b>SAP Business Workflow</b>, Universal worklist, Collaboration tasks, Guided procedures.
At the moment, many workflow questions are also populating the Business Process Modeling forum in the BPX area. Which isn't the appropriate place either.  Perhaps the definitions of these forums need to be more clearly articulated.
Let's continue the discussion please in the <a href="SAP Business Workflow Process Management Forum</a>
Suresh also makes a good point about the ABAP catergories, although, as in any "change management", changes take time, and reeducating people to post in the proper forums is an on-going activity.  Having community input as to what makes the best logical sense is also very helpful.

  • Change the forum

    Hello,
I had a thread without answers. Now I want change the forum from "CRM Master Data" to "CRM Webclient UI".
Can I change the forum after I posted a thread?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards, Jasmin

You can click on the Report Abuse button and leave a message for the moderator to move the thread to the appropriate forum in the future.
Else for the time being you can post the link here and some Mod can move it to the right forum.

  • Can't see who has replied to the thread in the forum, its pointess?

What's the point in creating a system where you can't see who has replied to the thread? Its absolutely F**CKING pointless? Does anyone at Adobe have any brains or are they all sitting with their heads up their backsides?
Surely before you release such garbage you test for these very simple issues, right?
osgood_(NOT M Golding) If anyone at Adobe is monitoring this please get my screen named changed to what it was previously as well.

It needs a 'latest reply' on the posted list page like the old version otherwise you have no idea if anyone has replied to the post or not without opening it.
Latest reply: May 3, 2014 2:17 AM by . osgood_
The line below is not that necessary in the order of priority, which for all intense and purposes is quite useless. I don't really care about how long ago something was posted or where it was posted but an indication to show 'updated' posts and by who is vital.
9 minutes ago in Dreamweaver support forum
Why do we even need 'Dreamweaver support forum'. We already know that's where we are! I guess a selection of posts from other forums may appear in a 'general' postings list somewhere, but who really cares - if I'm asking a question related to DW that's the forum I'm going to, not a general list as I don't care a monkey knackers what's been posted in Fireworks or InDesign or Illustrator. If I did I'd go to those forums.
If you are tracking several postings it is going to become hugely annoying for both the person who has asked the question and the people helping the original poster as many replies will potentially go unnoticed and not resolved.
And what's with the silly horizontal scroll bar being created for long lines of text? That's annoying too.
Plenty of teething issue you need to get your head around over the next few weeks.

  • Logical AND not working in the forum search box

Logical AND of search terms does not seem to be working in the MSDN forum search box. Example: I go to the Project Customization and Program forum and type the word
    subproject
in the search box. I get a lot of hits. So now I try to reduce the number of hits by typing
    subproject AND read
Surprisingly, I now get MORE hits than before.   The same thing happens if I enter
    subproject & read
Do the MSDN forums not support the standard logical AND combinations of search terms?  If they do support these combinations, what is the syntax?

    Cheers, you're welcome.
There's a thread going in the Suggestions forum with plenty more requests for updates to the search tool. You may want to add your voice there too:

  • New To The Forum And Looking For Speed Help!

Hello, After trying to find information about my problem on the Internet and then speaking to the BT Indian Call Centre, I stumbled upon this forum. I am hoping, having looked at so many helpful comments and contributions, that I might be able to shed some light upon my connection speed issue. I have had a very pleasing and stable Internect connection speed of nearly 8Mb. However, I recently moved my router to the Master socket in the house which was better positioned to give a good WiFi signal throughout my house. However, when I have plugged in the router and booted it up, I can only connect at just over 4Mb regardless of what I try. I know I am at risk of sounding a touch ungrateful here because there are many more people with bigger problems than I but I would be very grateful for some advice / assisitance as to why my problem might have occurred and how I might regain my previous speed. Thank you in advance for any help! Cheers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    welcome to the forum
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Your account does not have access to the forums system.

Greetings, My name is Jeff, I'm from Netwrix Corporation, which is a Microsoft partner. I have a problem with accessing Microsoft TechNet forum. After signing-in to my account: [email protected], I go to TechNet
forum, and get a message that:  "Your account does not have access to the forums system." And also I've noticed that all my posts were deleted from TechNet forums. Can moderators tell me why did that happen? Why didn't I receive any warning
    about my account suspension?
I've already submitted 2 tickets to MSDN Site Feedback Inquiry but didn't receive any answer.
I've called Microsoft TechNet at 800-344-2121 and Professional
Support team at 1-800-936-5800.  But everybody send me to the MSDN Site Feedback Inquiry from which I didn't get any answer.
Anybody can help me with my problem?

    Hi,
Is this the profile you're referencing?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/netwrix
It doesn't appear to be banned, but you're definitely right about there being no activity listed.
I'd suggest contacting the forums team directly by sending an email to fissues (at) microsoft [dot] com. The admins do monitor this forum, so you'll probably get a response here as well.
