Is it at all possible to print to a Canon Pixma ip100 without a computer in the mix?

My wife needs to have techs go out into the field and print forms.  She already has the ip100 printer.  She would idealy like to have the techs carry an iPad to enter data into a form and then print that form.  The only hurdle left in this is the printing.  She does not have the iPads yet but since they're cheaper than laptops, that's what she'd like to go with.
I've tried to get an app called PrintCentral Pro to do it but that requires software on a laptop to be installed.  If the techs need a laptop, there's no point in them having iPads.  I've also seen where AirPrint doesn't cover the ip100 but that's the printer that she already has, so my hands are tied as far as getting another printer.  I've seen old posts that say it can't be done but I'm hoping that there's been some advance since then.
Thanks.

We also have a wireless router that, if need be, I thought we could use as an access point to get the printer on an ad hoc network.  But again, I run into the software on a laptop issue.
This is the router:

How do I get my canon pixma ip100 photo printer to print  two pages from my iPad mini? Iam new with the computer terms & stuff, can any one please help me hook it up in easy terms...thankyou

You would have to either use an app from Canon if they have one or use a 3rd party program such as Printopia, Print Central, Fingerprint, etc. That printer is not Airprint compatible.

  • Is there any way to print to a Canon Pixma IP100?

I bought this printer a couple of months back because i needed a portable printer for printing my quotes but i also knew it had wireless capablities and was hoping to buy an iPad to use for business when Apple got their act together and allowed us to use it for such things.
Anyways......looks like it isn't supported in the latest update for the iPad. Is there anyway of getting it to work with it though as i bought the Canon because it was the better printer between that and the HP.
Is my only option to print from the iPad to buy a HP? If so i'll have to do this but it's a bit of a pain in the ***!
Also what's with all this wireless printing? I'd be more than happy plugging a lead into the printer and into the iPad to get it to print!
Apple....come on.....stop turning out half baked products.
It really feels like we've gone back about 10 years in technology.....we've got the state of the art iPad.......top notch portable printer with wireless dongle......but no.......you can't print wirelessly and you can't even plug a cable in and print.....wow........ain't technology great!

Plugging a cable in would be old tech.
If you want direct to a wireless printer printing from your iPad, then you've got 2 options:
    1) get ANY HP wi-fi printer and use 3rd party apps from Eurosmartz like Printcentral or Print n Share
    2) get a HP printer on the Airprint-compatible list, and use Airprint, or
    3) wait for a while and see if your Canon gets added to the compatibility list via an upgrade.
Remember though, the printer still must be on a wi-fi network to work in any case.

  • Canon pixus / canon pixma ip100 printer

    hi
I'm trying to get a Canon Pixma iP100 printer connected by usb working with my arch linux.
    cups 2.0.1-1
    linux 3.18.4-1
for this I created and installed the following packages from the AUR repo
    cnijfilter-common
    cnijfilter-ip100
and installed the printer over the cups web interface.
the printer is detected as usb://Canon/ip100%20series?serial=123456 as soon as I connect it by usb.
when I first tried to print a test page, there was an error about the missing file /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij so I copied it from the pkg folder to this location.
when I now try to print the test page, the status is changing to "Sending data to printer" and the print job disappears after a short time. But the printer isn't doing a thing.
I also tried to print over the console
    lp -d Canon_iP100_series -oraw out.txt
but the only thing that happens is that the printer's status led is blinking once.
I was also able to grab the data (pdf) which is sent by cups to the printer: https://filepaste.puzzle.ch/downloads/3 … d00047-001
    thanks for any help

  • HP OfficeJet 6500A all in one Printer . No European size envelopes apart from C6 on the printer.

We have the OfficeJet 6500A All In One Printer. It is on a network to two computers one using Windows Vista and the other Windows7.
It seems strange that the only size of envelope for the European Market is a C6. There is no facility for customising a DL or C5 which are the other two popular sizes of envelopes. We cannot customize from either computer. We have tried altering the specifications of other envelopes listed for the printer but to no avail. Has anyone got a solution to this problem or are we going to have to wait for HP to upgrade the printer programme. Word Perfect Office X4 is the word procesing programme in use plus a basic Microsft  Word that is OEM.

    Hi jspin3,
I'd like to help.  For now, I would hold off on the uninstall and reinstall.  Can you answer some questions?
Is the printer connected by USB, Ethernet or wireless?
Do you get any error messages?
Does a blank page come out or do no pages come out when you try to print from the computer?
If you put a document face down on the scanner glass, are you able to make a photocopy?
Can you estimate the ink levels, in percent full for each cartridge, by looking at the printer ink gauge?  Click Here
If you print a  Self Test Report,  do all of the colors print?

  • I have a HP 6510 All in One printer Model # CQ761A. It does not respond to touching the screen

I have a HP 6510 All in One printer Model # CQ761A. Using Windows XP.
Power light is on and wireless light is on. When I touch the touch screen there is no response from the printer. The computer and network does not see the printer and power button will not power down the printer. I have to unplug the power from the printer to get it to turn off then on and start working. Works fine for a day or two then back to malfunctioning.

Try working through this support document. it walks through resetting the power module and testing it. It also includes a video which is very helpful.

  • Problems printing wirelessly with Canon PIXMA iP4500

I have a MacBook Pro 15 in 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb RAM and I’m running Mac OSX 10.5.7.
    1. My Canon PIXMA iP4500 inkjet printer used to work perfectly as a printer attached to the USB port of my Airport Extreme Model A1034 modem, when my computer communicates with the modem either wirelessly or via an ethernet connection between the computer and Airport, but lately it isn’t working.
    2. When I try to print the printer icon shows up in the dock and when I click on it a Canon iP4500 series printer dialog box pops up and says the Printer is Ready but the status of the document is “Stopped”.
    3. If I click on “Resume” and error message appears: “Operation could not be completed. client-error-not-possible”. This happen repeatedly.
    4. I recycled the modem, turned the printer off and on (and did those things in reverse) and ran Airport Utility, all to no avail. I also deleted the printers in my Print & Fax System Preferences dialog box, downloaded the latest CUPS driver from Canon (ver 10.1.0.0), and recreated the printer (called Canon iP4500 Series).
    5. Network diagnostics says it can connect to the internet over either my airport or Ethernet connection but it cannot connect to the Canon iP4500 series.riousbprint.tcp.local.
    6. Also when I run the Canon IJ Printer Utility from the Canon iP4500 series printer dialog box a Printer List dialog box shows up with no USB-attached printers listed
    7. I can print if I connect the printer directly to my MacBook Pro, so I don’t think it’s a driver or USB cable problem. Curiously, when I connect the printer directly to the computer the Print & Fax dialog box automatically creates a second printer called Canon iP4500 series-1. If I use the original Canon iP4500 Series printer in this setup it says “No pages found”.
Basically I’m stumped at this point and would appreciate some help. Unfortunately, I’m on a 3-mo sabbatical and do not have my original Canon printer software with me so I cannot reinstall the printer app unless someone knows how I can obtain it. Similarly I cannot reinstall Leopard either, though it doesn’t seem likely I should need to. Happy to try anything else though.

Hello Basil and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Reading your post, it would suggest there is a problem with the USB of the Airport Extreme, but I don't believe this to be case as there is not much that could go wrong with them. Instead I think there is something not right with the transport (TCP) protocols that get the data from your Mac to the Airport USB.
At this stage, I suggest you look at installing version 5.23 of the Gutenprint driver. This version supports your iP4500 and will help to narrow the cause of the current symptom.
Before installing the Gutenprint driver, I suggest we trash all the current Canon drivers you have installed - we can add them again later if need be.
Open Finder and navigate to Mac HD/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter. Trash all the contents of this folder and empty the trash.
Next, navigate to the Mac HD/Library/Receipts folder. You will see the Canon iP4500 xxx.pkg and another one for the CUPS driver you installed. Trash both of these and empty also.
Now open System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete all the Canon printers in the list (highlight and hit ' - '). It would also be handy to reset the printing system, so while in Print & Fax, move your mouse over the now empty printers list, hold down your Control key and click (or right-click if you can). Click on Reset printing system when it appears.
Now install the Gutenprint drivers. When this is done, restart your Mac and try adding the iP4500 again. This time, after you select the Airport shared printer, you will have to open Print Using and search for the 'Canon iP4500 - Gutenprint v5.2.3'. Select this and now try printing. Let me now the result.

    Hi Pedro,
How far away is your printer from your wireless access pont?  If you move the printer closer, are you able to receive a full page printout?

  • Printing problems with Canon Pixma IP4700

I used to use a PC, photoshop and my Canon pixma IP4700. With this i could achieve perfect results on an A4 image. I have embedded the correct paper profile and my colour management system was set up just right. I have now upgraded to a mac(running Snow Leopard OS) , but i am now getting problems with my prints. I opened up the exact same .psd file without changing anything and sent it off to print on my canon. The result has came out far too bright?. When i used my PC I would have a lot more controls within my printer driver screen, but now with the mac the printer driver screen dosnt have very many controls at all. Even when i soft proof the print on the print screen it dose not show it any ware near as bright as the end result print.
I am a student of photography and i have asked a few of my class mates and they say that they have had the same problem. They tend to use a professional printers, but as i had received such perfect prints before I know this result is obtainable.
Is there anything anyone can suggest to help??
If there is any more information i can provide to help just let me know.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi there,
In reading your post I'd be curious to see the cups error log. Given that the Gutenprint drivers would not print also, I would say that something is wrong with the core printing system. The log would show which filter is causing the spooler to stop.
Thinking that it is CUPS related, I would try resetting printing system (if you haven't done so already). Then I would add the queue again using the Gutenprint driver for starters. If this doesn't work then no need to try the Canon driver.
Note that the Canon test print is not an actual print but an instruction to output the inbuilt data. But the test print via the Gutenprint printer queue is a page generated by CUPS. So this would suggest that the CUPS usb backend is okay and something further up the spool creation process is failing. Again, the cups error log would give some clues as to what is going wrong. As to why both driver sets are failing is interesting...

  • Printing Problems with Canon Pixma MP830 under 10.5.5.

    Hi All.
Strange one here. I'll try to keep it short.
A client just bought a 24" iMac (running Leopard 10.5.5) and all was great until they tried to connect their Canon Pixma MP830 to it. The client installed connected the printer to the USB port in back, installed the software from the Canon CD, and soon discovered they could not print from any application -- however, they could do a test print (cleanings, alignments, test, etc.) without issue.
They ended up calling both Apple and Canon for several sessions and no one could figure it out.
So I get the call. I remove the printer completely from the system, emtpied the trash, repair permissions, blew out the user and system cache, restart and installed the fresh Leopard-friendly drivers from Canon. I also ran the firmware upgrade for the printer, which took just fine. When I did a test print -- no problem. When I tried to print from Safari -- nothing.
So I then I thought I would try the Gutenprint v5.1.3 drivers for that printer. Nada.
I downloaded the GutenPrint 5.2.0-beta4 drivers, still nada.
At a last ditch effort I tried a new USB cable, still nada.
Curious if anyone has seen this problem and perhaps as a solution? Aside from buying a new printer that is (they are already shopping, but not happy about it).
    Thanks!

  • I need Printer Software for Canon PIXMA MP600

I have just replaced my startup hard drive. I installed OS X 10.10.2 and then migrated everything from Time Machine that I had backed up from my failed start up disk. Now I get an alert that software is not available for this printer. Canon says me that they do not provide the driver, but when I try to set this printer up in system preferences, I get an Alert message "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the pritner's manufacturer for the latest software." The available Gutenprint software does not implement all the features of this printer.
This printer is available on my network through my Airport Extreme Base Station. My other iMac, also running Yosemite, prints apparently has the correct software and prints as expected.

  • Printing on a Canon Pixma MP600 via Airport Express from a Windows 2000 PC

Hi, I'm a Mac: I can print directly connected AND wirelessly to a Canon MP600 printer through Airport Express.
Hi, I'm a PC: I can only print when I'm directly connected to the printer.
Has anyone found a way to print to their Canon through Airport Express?

    Try these instructions first: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1006.html
Another route is to use Bonjour for Windows to be able to access the printer attached to the AirPort base station from your PC.
In addition, not all USB printers work with AirPort base stations for sharing. The following iFelix link provides an "unofficial" list of known compatible printers...and some workarounds.
