Is it bad to leave isight on?

I have looked everywhere for this answer all over the boards, couldn't find it, so I'm asking. Does anyone know if it is a bad thing to leave your isight camera on? Like I mean for extended periods of time, like ever time the screen saver goes up or what not. Please help, thanks!

  • Is it bad to leave your iPhone connected to the charger constantly?

I was looking at buying the Mophie juice pack plus and was seeing if it was bad to leave the mophie running while my iphone is fully charged.

    Battery life for your iPhone
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • Bad to leave backlight off?

I was just wondering.. I use my iBook alot with the vga adapter & a dell display.. when I have my iBook half closed while doing this, is it better to keep the backlight off or on.. or does it make no difference? I've been keeping it off while it's not in use and I just wanted to know if keeping it off for prolonged periods of time is bad for the iBook's display. Thanks alot

    Hi Patrick,
Are you talking about the "burn in" effect? That is most commonly known with the CRT displays. Leaving your screen on should only cause problems with causing the computer to over heat. I don't think that it will effect the screen.
    I hope that helps,
    Jon

  • Bad to leave the nano always fully charged?

Is it a bad idea to leave my nano always fully charged? The reason I ask is because I sometimes go many days without using my nano. Should I leave it charged in the dock often?

This ir really a battery question, so what you might want to do is research how to best utilize Lithium ion batteries. Or go to www.iLounge.com and download their free iPod book. Lots of helpful hints including a section on batteries.
This question isn't limited to Li-on batteries either. Concerns with any rechargable will spark a comment or an out-right debate. Ultimately it's your call on the recommendations provided.

  • Is it bad to leave my personal hotspot on?

If I were to leave the personal hotspot feature on on my ipad mini, are there any negative effects?

You may drain your battery sooner since you have an 'unnecessary process' running.
I don't have a 3G version so I have no experience with the hotspot feature, but if your access point isn't locked down and password protected, theoretically you could have strangers tapping into your wifi and burning through your bandwidth
If it were my device, I'd just turn it on as needed.

  • Is it bad to leave my mac on (not just asleep) constantly?

I leave my mac laptop on a lot (almost 24/7) and even go to sleep skyping with my friend all night. When going somewhere I usually just shut my laptop and pack it up  as well and want to know if this damages the harddrive and what I should do. Skype has been acting a bit weird and my internet connection was also out of wack the last day or so as well when it hasn't been an issue before (could be due to using skype and firefox at the same time but I am wondering if it should be able to handle that or not as well). The internet is fine but it is running slow and doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have already had a harddrive fail before due to a lose wire or something and don't want to go through that again.
What kind of things would shorten the lifespan of your harddrive and how much wear/use can they handle before they start to wear down? Also, how many applications should be able to run at the same time without things going slow? Is that an internet issue or my computer? If it is my computer then what is the best course of action I should take?
    Thanks

If you have read the instruction manual, it says.  Leave your Mac asleep if you are going to use it the next day or the day after.  Switch it off if you are not going to use it for months.

  • Zen Touch adapter - Really bad to leave in constant

I want to use my zen touch 40GB in connection with my home stereo system as my music collection. However, I don't want to keep having to remember to plug it in and unplug it all the time to do this. The manual says not to leave the adapter plugged in, but is it really an issue?
    Thanks

    BigFIFan,
The answer to the best of my knowledge is this:
The only time when it is best to fully discharge the battery is on the first few charges, to condition the battery.
After this, partial charges are the best. Leaving it plugged in to AC shouldn't hurt it at all.
This is why I like Li-Ion batteries. They are so easy to work with.

  • Multiple leave requests on the same day

We would like to enforce a check so that multiple leave requests of the same type cannot be submitted for the same day on ESS.
How can this be achieved ? We are on EP 7.0 and ECC 6.0 and are using webdynpro java version of the ESS applications.
Any configuration available for this or does this require a BADI implementation ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thank You,
    Raj

read here, it requies a badi implementation only, no config is available!

  • Badi HR_IN_TERMINATION (HR Module)

    Hi all,
I have a requirement where i have to use this badi HR_IN_TERMINATION this badi calculates
    1) To compute Superannuation amount
    2) To compute Gratuity amount
    3) To compute Leave Encashment amount
Now I am able to trigger the badi for leave encashment. its working fine. But for Gratuity and superannuation it calculates the difference of years in the standard program itself if difference is 0 it wll not trigger the badi if it is greater than 0 then it triggers the badi for gratuity and superannuation. for which in standard program HINCALC0 it takes the begin date from pa0000 infotype and my functinal consultant is maintaining the begin date in pa0041 infotype. because of whch i am not able to trigger the badi for gratuity and superannuation .
I wanted to know as to what i should do to trigger the badi? whether i should change the standard code to change the querry (which we are not supposed to do) or i should goto my functonal consultant and ask him to maintain the begin date in pa0000 .
    Regards
    Amit

  • External iSight died

I've got an external iSight that has worked just fine until a couple of days ago. Now the green light turns on briefly when I try to turn the camera on, then with kind of a click and a sigh, the light goes off and the camera won't work.
    I'm running a 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5, OS 10.4.9
Never had a problem with the camera in the past. It did get quite warm while in use, but not so overly warm that it couldn't be touched.
Anybody have any ideas of how to revive the iSight or is it likely just toast?

    Hello, Paul
... the green light turns on briefly ... then ... the light goes off
Don't get sidetracked by the green light. It is normal for the light to turn on briefly and then go out when you plug in iSight or boot up your Mac. The fact that the camera will not work is where we will concentrate.
You can test your iSight to determine whether it is functional using these tips. By using these tests, you may be able to rule out some parts of your system as the cause of your problem. The trouble may be as simple as a faulty connection or cable.
Try to eliminate as many system elements as you can that might be the source of your trouble. These can include your iSight, the iSight's Firewire cable, your Mac's Firewire port connections, a Firewire circuit that needs to be reset, or possibly even damaged hardware inside your iMac. The smaller the list of possible problems, the smaller your list of possible corrective actions will be.
If you have changed any hardware or software since your iSight worked, carefully consider the Possible hardware or software conflicts suggestions.
When you try Apple's "iSight: How to Troubleshoot," be sure to test your iSight camera in another user account to determine whether the issue is user-specific.
If your iSight works with some applications but not others, tell us which worked and which did not.
It did get quite warm while in use, but not so
overly warm that it couldn't be touched.
This, too, sounds normal, so I would suggest that you not be concerned unless your iSight now stays cool. That could indicate that your connection, cable, or Firewire circuitry is bad. An iSight that is not functioning at all would also be cool while plugged into a running Mac.
Anybody have any ideas of how to revive the iSight ...
If none of the above suggestions correct your problem, you can try the following:- Repair permissions.
    - Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (PPC).
    - Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
If none of these suggestions help and you do not get better suggestions here, I suggest that you contact your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check. There are no user-serviceable parts inside iSight, but your Service Technician may be able to repair it.
